For Gastritis/Duodenitis "I was prescribed omeprazole after being diagnosed with gastritis, and over many years I have suffered with palpitations, terrible tightening in my stomach, night sweats with insomnia, aches and pains, and nausea. I also had the paramedics out one evening and an overnight stay at the hospital, as they thought I was suffering a heart attack. Every time that I have seen the doctor and said these symptoms were worse than the gastritis and not helping at all, I have been told to carry on taking them in case the gastritis changed into an ulcer or cancer! This has left me in a dilemma, as I have already had my kidney removed (16 years ago) due to cancer. I have pondered over the years why I have been having these awful symptoms but was always told it was stress and anxiety! Having read these, I now realize that it isn't just me that's suffering, and it helps a great deal knowing that omeprazole is causing my problems - definitely not curing them."

For GERD "I had a weird thing for about 5-7 years where I would cough and gag after I was completely done eating my food, and sometimes I would throw up in my hand or just acid would come up. I also noticed I couldn’t eat basically anything without having really bad acid reflux. I’ve been on omeprazole for about 2 years, and it’s really, really helped. I can eat regularly without getting really bad acid reflux. But I've noticed that when I do get it, it’s way worse than when I got it before. My doctor also dropped my dose from 40 mg to 20 mg, and it made me have acid reflux, just not as bad."

For Indigestion "Omeprazole are terrible tablets. I’ve been taking it a few years, had to have an x-ray on my hips, and been told I have arthritis of the apex, pelvis, and spine, then, and of the bones, all down to this horrible tablet. Now started to have panic attacks, feeling dizzy and nausea. Would never take again, sticking to Andrews and Gaviscon."

For Stomach Ulcer "After taking omeprazole in the morning with food, I had a headache by the afternoon, which escalated to a full-blown wicked headache (migraine) the next morning. Other symptoms were tearfulness, nausea, and vomiting. Needless to say, I did not take it the next morning since I felt as if it was the end of me. I cannot imagine what would have happened if I took it the second day. At the end of the second day, I had a heavy-headed feeling. I had to take two Tylenol to get rid of the headache since I have a stomach ulcer (caused from taking 81 mg of aspirin a day and had to be careful what to take for the headache)."

For Gastritis/Duodenitis "I had the worst gastritis where I could only curl up in a ball and roll. My back was on fire, I was nauseous, and it was horrible. Dr. did a GI test to diagnose. He put me on it twice a day. I was fine and it definitely helped. No crazy side effects. But it didn't help right away. What did help with the crazy burning in my stomach (felt like a lit match being put to my stomach from inside) was a mix of coconut oil and peppermint essential oil, mixed correctly obviously, and rubbed all over where my stomach was. Took about a half hour to stop the pain, but I couldn't believe it actually worked! I was desperate for the pain to stop so I tried the essential oil. I didn't want the Karens to be right lol, but this time they were! In the end, I am thankful for that and the omeprazole. Oh, one more note... my health insurance charged me more for the omeprazole than it cost to buy at the pharmacy, can you believe that! So I ended up buying it over the counter the next time I needed it."

"I was put on 40 mg omeprazole because I had a possibility of having GERD and indigestion, along with the chances of celiac disease, Crohn's, etc. They don't know what's wrong, but my doctor put me on this to stop the morning sickness portion of my symptoms. Although it's reduced the amount of acid I throw up in the morning, I feel much worse than I did when I didn't take medication at all. I now have chronic stomach pains in the early mornings (3 a.m.-9 a.m.), and I am much more nauseous than I was before. On top of this, I've experienced extreme brain fog to where I will be wandering around my house forgetting why I'm even up. I feel extremely weak all the time, and although I do struggle with ED, this is not helping at all. Some mornings I wake up with uncontrollable shaking, which never happened until I started this medication. All this medication has done so far is stress me out because of all of the symptoms preventing me from being able to go to school and even function normally."

Omeprazole for GERD "It worked well to eliminate reflux symptoms, but forced to discontinue use as made me too dizzy, lightheaded, and sometimes nauseous. To the point of not feeling comfortable enough to drive."
