For Major Depressive Disorder "I was on nefazodone for over 20 years, and it shaped my life. It helped me become myself by controlling my symptoms without any side effects. Without it, my life is falling apart. My last dose was 11/5/2020. I'm flooded with depression, anxiety is wrapped around me... squeezing, squeezing. I can't breathe. I've put on a lot of weight. My clothes don't fit. I don't go out, can't think, play guitar, or write. I keep trying other meds. No luck. Now I'm on Fetzima. Maybe it will help. I love my life, I miss myself. I called Teva and was told nefazodone would be back. Teva wants money, it's logical that they would want it back on the market. I'm 64. Being older wasn't supposed to be so horrible. Until then, I have prayer. God doesn't care if I'm fat. And I have all of you to talk to. Thank you."

For Panic Disorder "Serzone worked great for me. I took it for 5 years and was up to 600 mg a day. Only side effect was blurry distance vision. I wish so bad they would make something comparable to this medication. I have been off it for 6 years now and need it again. I never had any liver issues. All of the others make me sick with more anxiety."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have had depression and anxiety issues for 31 years. SSRIs do not work for me. My doctor had put me on Serzone when it first came out years ago, and it was the only medication that truly worked for me. I am also on two other atypical antidepressants to combat other issues I have with sleep and mood. The fact that I can no longer receive nefazodone has really affected me profoundly, and not being able to be on it is a shock to my system, as I was not able to wean myself off of it as one should do. In my research, I have found that Teva is missing a compound to manufacture it. No answer in regard to if it will be available in the near future is disheartening since I would like to feel normal again. Now I am at square one again and have to see a psychiatrist, this will be my third, so he can prescribe some other medication that I hope will work as well as nefazodone has for the last 26 years."

For Anxiety "I’ve been on many different SSRIs and a few different antipsychotics. I’ve been on fluoxetine and alprazolam for the last decade or better, with good results in general. I have generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic attack syndrome, so I needed a reasonably potent benzo dose. I used to get panic attacks multiple times daily, which, through intensive psychotherapy (several hour sessions, 3 to 5 times a week with a personal phone number to my psychiatrist/psychotherapist) and medical management, I got through. I first tried nefazodone through finding an old sample of Serzone for my dad, which I tried with good results. I believe the dosage was 100 mg. I first got a prescription for nefazodone 100 mg bid in 2020, which was effective but only lasted a few months because of the shortage. In early 2022, I got a script for 150 mg bid and have been on it ever since, with good effect. Helped out my anxiety and apathy. Great medication."

For Panic Disorder "I have suffered from panic attacks since age 19. Was put on numerous meds throughout the years, nothing worked. In my 30s, met a doctor who helped in some way with the development of Serzone, and he put me on 150 mg twice a day with half mg of clonazepam. Within a few weeks, I started to feel 'normal' again. I started driving again, got out of my house, and was very active. Been on this for 23 years. For the past 4 months, my dose has gone down to 75 mg a day. My current doctor has tried 4 other different meds on me, nothing is working. I've had bad reactions to all of them. I'm down to 30 more days of Nefazodone. It's already been a struggle on the 75 mg. I've stopped driving, don't go anywhere again. I call and write Teva all the time. They keep saying they are not discontinuing it, but still out of raw material. I joined 2 groups on Facebook for Nefazodone support. It helps to get updated info there and speak to others. I'm praying Teva gets their raw materials soon."

For Depression "Nefazodone is again available. It has helped with my depression and really has done wonders for my anxiety. I am so grateful to be able to get this medication again. There is a Facebook support group 'Nefazodone Shortage Survivors and Support.' There is a wealth of information and other patients offering support and experiences with this medication. People are helping each other find pharmacies that are able to order it as it is still being distributed."

For Depression "I had high hopes for this med based on reviews and pharmacological profile; however, I was unable to get through the initiation period. It felt as if I was very intoxicated with a bad hangover at the same time: dizziness, blurred vision, unsteady gait with stumbling and falling, horrible stomach cramping, and dry heaving with a migraine. I started at 100 mg at bedtime, and as the days went on, the side effects progressed. I also felt more depressed, but who wouldn't, being unable to function? I wish it had worked out better. Everyone is different. My advice would be, if you experience side effects of the nature I did, I would discontinue and save yourself from dealing with them being much worse. Otherwise, give it a try!"

For Anxiety "I have used nefazodone since 1997 for anxiety and depression. After trying many others, this is the only medication that made me a functional person! When it was unavailable the past 1 1/2 years, I was lucky to have had extras to get me through."

For Anxiety "I see that I am in the same boat as a lot of the other reviewers. I have been on it over 20 years with zero liver issues. It was the only drug that worked for me. My pharmacist got around to telling me yesterday that she thinks it is no longer in production. Too lazy to look into it 6 months ago when they could no longer get the 100 mg pills. I could have at least called other pharmacies to see if they had any on hand then. I am told that Trazodone is the next closest thing. I will update with the results here."

For Depression "I am devastated that I can no longer get nefazodone. Been taking it 20 plus years, and it has worked great. New doctor prescribed Mirtazapine, and in the first 3 weeks, I have already gained 5 pounds. Anyone have good luck with something else that doesn't cause weight gain?"

For Panic Disorder "I was homebound for six years due to severe anxiety and panic attacks that debilitated me to the point where I couldn’t leave my home. After hopeless days and nights trying to find help, a neighborhood doctor had a nurse and psychologist come into my home to properly diagnose me. I was then placed on nefazodone that miraculously helped my condition and allowed me to finally leave my home and live a semi-normal life again. Then last year, the nightmare for many of us unraveled… TEVA loses its way of getting a “raw ingredient,” and many like myself are back to where we started with nothing but false promises and lies from TEVA and the FDA. I personally have begun the process to start a class action lawsuit against this company. Being a part of many support groups where others are also highly affected by this shortage, we will stand as one until we get a resolution."

For Major Depressive Disorder "If unable to get this drug from Teva, I can tell you my experience of how to help get it back on the market. This happened with Teva clonazepam a couple of years ago. I was on a blog and found out people called Teva directly, asking to please put it back on the market... Our calls made a difference - it took a couple of months, but it worked! Now my doctor writes, 'Teva brand only' on my Rx. Try it... make several calls per day... it works! Currently not taking nefazodone but here to check it out for my depression."

"This is an update, nefazodone 100 mg/day @ 3+ months since I started nefazodone for migraine. Had my liver panel, and it's normal. Because of those results, my doctor allowed me to double the dose, and it's possible my migraines are even less now on the 200 mg dose, but I'll wait a few more months if this is a real result. No side effects. If this does control my migraines and does not fail my liver, this will be the absolute best off-label medication treatment I've tried for migraine."

For Panic Disorder "I rely on this. It made such a positive impact on my life, too. It took away my anxiety. Now, hearing there's no more and a shortage, I've been cutting my doses in half and back to severe depression and massive anxiety."

For Depression "I cannot run out of my nefazodone! Been on it since 2010! My neurologist said I could not handle the withdrawal symptoms! It will literally be the end of me if I run out! CVS cannot find it, and I am about out! Please keep making it, or if I run out, my family will sue you! Take that to heart!"

For Anxiety "Nefazodone was a miracle drug for my depression/anxiety. When TEVA stopped production, I switched to trazodone, which was not anywhere near as good. I contacted Teva today (4/4/22), and they have started production again !!!!! I immediately made an appointment with my MD to get an Rx for it again !!!!! Unfortunately, it doesn't come in the 200 mg pill strength, though, so I'll probably have to pay more."

For Depression "This is the only antidepressant that has ever worked for my depression and anxiety. I have been on it for years and have stumbled through the last year without it. I was so excited to see that it's going to be back this year. Spoke to a rep at Teva who said it should be back on the market by the end of the year, it can't come fast enough! It is literally the only antidepressant that has helped me since getting off my last antidepressant in 1996."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Nefazodone works best for me after trying multiple antidepressants and failing. I have depression with anxiety and panic attacks, as well as manic depressive disorder and ADHD. Together with other meds, it keeps me going for the last 20+ years. I tried to stop taking it, but had super hard withdrawal and have to remain on it even though my insurance does not cover it!"

For Depression "I have been on Serzone/Nefazodone for over 20 years. I was diagnosed with generalized social anxiety likely stemming from trauma experienced from being bullied as a gay youth. I would shy away from social situations as I'd experience panic attacks that would lead to profuse sweating and the need to 'fight or flight.' Nefazodone has given me quality of life and a full life where I can participate in all social activities that have given me great confidence and true friendships. In the summer of 2020, Nefazodone was discontinued by Teva (the only manufacturer). As I tapered off, the panic attacks came back, even after years of soul work and healthy living for the mind and body. I was so happy to learn that as of December 2021, Teva is again making Nefazodone! I have tried other medications (e.g., Zoloft) and nothing works like Nefazodone. Thank you, Teva, for listening to your customers and working hard to bring Nefazodone to the market. I have great blood tests/no side effects :)"

For Depression "I tried multiple SSRIs for my clinical diagnosis of Major Depression over several years. Most of the popular SSRIs resulted in erectile dysfunction, which was maddening. Once I ramped up on the maximum 600 mg dosage of nefazodone over several months, I started feeling much better in terms of mood. The additional prescription of lithium carbonate augmented the nefazodone after only three days of taking it. For me, it was an amazing combination."

For Depression "Please contact the FDA complaint line and FDA Freedom of Information Act. Teva was in big financial trouble in 2019, they may break even in 2021 at our expense. Please make your voice heard. We need to get to the bottom of this and reveal Teva for who they are. Here's the best place to report your issue with nefazodone to the FDA."

For Anxiety "Took Nefazodone for 20 years for severe anxiety. High stress job. Best results with fewest side effects. Switched pharmacies in November because they were delayed in getting the prescription filled-thought it was the pharmacy’s fault. Only figured out by accident in December about the ingredient shortage when they kept pushing back refilling my prescription. Been a lousy few months."

For Anxiety "I don't understand what is going on. Is nefazodone coming back or is it being discontinued? Two pharmacies that had it took it off their shelves because they had notes in their computer that it was discontinued. I'm so annoyed about this. I'm calling Teva right now."

For Panic Disorder "I just found out yesterday that nefazodone is back! I’ve been on it for over 25 years, but like the rest of you, without it since 2020! I couldn’t be happier after the miserable last 17 months without it. I’m ready to say goodbye to my panic attacks once again! I was on 700 mg previously. My doctor is starting me back at 200 mg, 100 am & pm, gradually increasing as needed. Can anyone else share their experiences reintroducing the medication now that it is back? I couldn’t be any happier!"
