For Major Depressive Disorder "After 20 years of depression, doctors and pharmaceuticals, I finally found Nefazodone. I’ve felt better in the last nine months than I have in years! Even through the pandemic, my anxiety has been tolerable...until today. My pharmacy tells me the drug has been discontinued! I hope the stuffed suits who made that decision have some idea of what they’ve done to people who rely on this medication! I’ll sign this Panicked and Disappointed."

Nefazodone for Depression "My PCP prescribed Serzone for me after I described typical symptoms of depression. As an RN, I didn't want to feel 'medicated' and never did. This medicine gave me back myself. I was on it for about 4 years, then switched to Paxil for about 2 years and then taken off altogether. I haven't been on any medicines for depression in 7 years, as my divorce is long over and I am well healed - Amen! I would recommend Serzone, regular lab work, and doctor's care. Also, talk therapy helps too!"

For Depression "I am having an awful time, without this nothing works, one month out and I'm anxious, dizzy, having sick spells, and am afraid. I have stroke-like withdrawal symptoms. My world has been turned upside down. Two months ago, I graduated, got a job in my new field, then bam no meds. And I'm afraid I may lose everything I achieved because now I can't even drive my car because of stroke-like panic attacks. Been on this med since 1997, and doing great as a mom, student, grandmother, and sole person of my family."

Nefazodone for Depression "I have taken this antidepressant for as long as it has been on the market. It was and remains the only antidepressant that works for me. It has almost zero side effects when compared to the Tricyclics, SSRIs, and SNRIs that I tried before this drug. It is in a class by itself and unfortunately will probably remain so. This antidepressant gave me back my life, calmed my panic attacks, and even helped with social phobia. It is too bad that it has been given such a bad rap that it is hardly prescribed anymore."

For Depression "I come to this review page to see if anyone has found a medication similar, at least kind of worked as well as nefazodone. My story is a little different. I haven't been on it for 20+ years, in fact, I’m in my late 20s. I had been on every drug on the market. Living every day with SI, then I started nefazodone and for the first time I felt like living was possible. I was on it for 3 years and I felt like I was living life like how I imagined it was supposed to be. Then the medication was gone. Ripped out from beneath me. This drug saved my life, and shame on TEVA for not valuing human life. I don’t feel as if I have much time left on this earth, but I beg you all, urge everyone to keep fighting for the medication that showed us and gave us life again."

Nefazodone for Depression "I went on Elavil to try to help severe migraine. While it was somewhat helpful for the headaches, it immediately began making me gain weight. I put on 40 pounds, and it was a shock because I had never been overweight before. I was 42. I changed doctors, and she put me on Serzone. Within a week, I dropped 4 pounds! I was so excited, I began walking again and trying to lose weight. Overall, I lost the 40 pounds and kept it off. Then Serzone was banned, and I had to change antidepressants. The weight piled on, and in six months, I gained 60 pounds on Cymbalta. Now, I’m in my late 60s, and my new doctor refuses to let me try Nefazodone, which is now available again. I’m so angry. I’ve dropped that doc and am going to a new psychiatrist next week. Here’s hoping she is braver and more understanding and will let me switch to Nefazodone. I hope I can still lose weight even though I’m 25 years older. Being overweight makes me more depressed than any of my life’s problems."

For Anxiety "I was on Nefazodone for 26 years after trying several other antidepressants that had side effects. It had no side effects and made me feel like myself again. Now that it has been unavailable for almost a year, I have had to go off of it while starting Trazodone. I have been off of Nefazodone for a month and on Trazodone for 2 months. I am anxious, depressed, scared, and cry every day. I am hoping the Trazodone will start working since it is the closest thing to Nefazodone. I have been going up in 25 mg increments since starting it. I don't want to have to try something else. I am outraged at Teva. Apparently, they don't care about us. I believe that Nefazodone is or was used by so few people that it wasn't worth their while to make it. Back in April, I tried calling and writing Teva and the FDA and got nowhere. I am praying it will be made again, but I don't know how difficult it would be to transition back."

For Panic Disorder "I was prescribed this medication approx 20 years ago after being homebound for 6 years with agoraphobia. 17 years ago when I became pregnant, they attempted to change my medication and it was all bad. I had horrible effects from it. I was placed back on my nefazodone and I was back to normal in no time. I just learned today after wondering why my script still wasn’t filled that it is no longer available. Teva, you have to put this medication back on the market. My anxiety is at 1000 just knowing what I’m going to go through without it. I’ve had labs done every 6 months and have never had any liver issues at all. Please help us patients that have been saved by your medication."

For Depression "Tried 7 different medications before going on this one. Been on it for 20 years. I don't suffer anymore, and this medicine has been a Godsend. I hope it comes back soon. I realize there is a drug shortage on this medicine, so I cut it in half to save as much as I can. My anxiety, depression, and bad mood came back like a monster, like it did 20 years ago. Please, Teva, hurry and bring this back so the ones like me don't run out."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have been dealing with major depression and terrible anxiety for the last 40 years. I had tried at least 6 different antidepressants, none of them really helped until one doctor put me on nefazodone. Within 3 weeks, what a difference, the relief, the sadness, the anxiety, the panic feeling all lifted. This medicine pretty much saved my life. To this day, I still take it. It's a wonderful medicine. I hope they never take this off the market."

Nefazodone for Depression "I started taking this drug for chronic daily headaches in 1999. It turns out they were caused by stress and serious depression. The Serzone was a miracle drug for me! I saw the world so much more clearly and without the negative lens. My headaches were gone (turns out it actually has a patent for preventing migraines!). I was on it for 8 years until I moved to a new city and had trouble finding doctors to prescribe it. So I was off it for the last two years, and my doctor had me on awful Depakote instead. I hated it! I found a doctor this week to put me back on Nefazodone (Serzone). I look forward to ramping up the dosage and feeling alive again! It was a great drug for me without sexual side effects, which is important to many men."

For Anxiety "As of 12/20/21, nefazodone is out of shortage and again available. I was finally able to fill my prescription on 12/27/21. This medication has been so helpful for me. I tried many others, and this seems to be the only one that, along with controlling the depression, also keeps my anxiety in check. I have been on this for over 20 years."

For Depression "Been on Serzone/Nefazodone 22 years. My liver has been fine for 22 years, this medicine saved my life and was the only thing that worked for me! Right now, it is on manufacturer backorder till April. I got enough to last, it has saved my life. Please never discontinue this lifesaver for some of us, especially those of us who have been on it long term, like me for 22 years."

Nefazodone for Panic Disorder "I was having many panic attacks and could barely manage my life. I started Serzone with the few side effects of dry mouth, sleepiness at first, and constipation. Only the dry mouth remains. I have now been on it for ten years through many major stress issues. It has kept me functional through all these, and I have avoided breakdowns that could have occurred. (On measures of stress tests, I usually rank in the 'Go to the Hospital' area). No liver problems, and it is tested yearly. I had to slightly up the dosage two years ago. I did have a horrible time trying to quickly change to another drug when it appeared that Serzone was going out of production. I am grateful for it and wish it were more widely used."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I just wanted to give you an update. Many of the reviews informing us that nefazodone has temporarily been discontinued are slightly incorrect. Teva Pharmaceuticals has temporarily stopped making it due to a shortage of its main ingredient. That does not mean it's discontinued as of yet. In the meantime, those of you who need to wean off of it so that you can successfully get on to a new antidepressant, please call around to pharmacies across your city. Many pharmacies other than the one that you currently use have supplies of it still left in their inventory. I managed to find many pharmacies around where I live and have been able to get another month's supply so I can wean myself off. Good luck to all of you, and I pray and hope that they will soon restart manufacturing. I hope this helps."

For Anxiety "I’ve suffered from severe GAD and treatment-resistant depression. Before trying nefazodone, I’ve tried many different classes of antidepressants such as SSRIs, SNRIs, MAOIs, and other medications. None of them worked to calm my anxiety, which interfered in my life in an extremely negative way by preventing me from socializing, causing panic attacks, making me get in fight or flight mode over the smallest things, and causing me to isolate myself from the world. Also, before nefazodone, my depression was unbearable. There was no joy or pleasure in things. I did not look forward to anything, and life felt hopeless. One day, I was looking up medicines to treat severe GAD and treatment-resistant depression, and nefazodone came up. After reading up on it, I decided to ask my psychiatrist if I could give it a try, and he said yes. It has been 27 days since I started taking nefazodone, and one thing I can say with confidence is that it works. Anxiety, panic, and depression have drastically decreased."

For Anxiety "A close friend of mine and I have been on nefazodone 50 mg for 20+ years. It has been a lifesaver. We cannot tolerate any other antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication. Now we are experiencing a shortage of the 50's. Wondering if we can group together to let Teva know that we depend on this drug. I called Teva to find out the availability, but all the representative would say is there is an ingredient that has been difficult to obtain to make nefazodone. She would not give me any more information. Wondering if we group together and let Teva know how important and necessary this drug is to us. Don't know how to get this going. Please help."

Nefazodone for Depression "I was in a major depression after my baby died in the second trimester. Thoughts of suicide, the works. When I finally reached out for help, I was put on Serzone... truly a miracle drug. I was young, 28, and never had side effects. After a year, I weaned off. Three years later, I had my daughter and started spiraling downward, postpartum - after you have a baby, it is supposed to be the happiest time! I reached out for help and could no longer obtain Serzone. I have literally been on EVERY antidepressant for the past 16 years. Nothing has worked like Serzone. I am in a bad spot depression-wise again and am thinking it will be worth the liver risk to try to feel normal again."

Nefazodone for Depression "Serzone is the only one that has helped me, and I've never had any liver problems that are associated with it. It makes me feel better right away. Really, though, I am certifiably depressed, and it works. If nothing else works, then try this. If the ones you are on work, then by all means don't, thanks."

Nefazodone for Depression "I have just started on Serzone (Nefazodone) after reading up on it. I have tried so many other SSRIs that did not work, so I am hoping that this class of drug will. I wish people wouldn't worry about the liver issue. Depakote and Cymbalta both have the same risk, but they haven't been pulled off the market due to the bad rap. I decided to try Serzone regardless of the liver issue. I will have my liver checked at least every 6 months, and if it becomes abnormal, I will stop taking Serzone. No big deal. It is as simple as that. But I read that the risk is only about 1 in 250,000. I will take those odds if this drug really helps me. So far I feel drowsy, but I can live with that. The alternative is debilitating fatigue and horrible negativity."

For Anxiety "Teva needs to get its act together and get this drug back on the market! I have taken this off-label for OCD for 12 years, and it is the *only* thing that works for me. My psych put me on trazodone after I ran out of nefazodone, and it is not even close to the same thing. I'm close to quitting my job because my condition is degenerating so badly. Before nefazodone, I tried every SSRI and tricyclic in the book, and nothing worked. My psych made sure I understood the (tiny) risk when he put me on nefazodone. Teva, please please PLEASE fix this, real people are suffering!"

For Anxiety "I have depression and OCD. Nefazodone (Serzone) changed my life. The chains of OCD and depression fell off within 2 months of starting this medicine. This medication was an answer to prayer. I have been off and on SSRIs, but they did not help much. Paxil was the only medication that helped my OCD, but the side effects were bad. I have not experienced any sexual side effects, weight gain, or fatigue with Nefazodone. It's been a wonder drug for me."

For Anxiety "After trying several antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds, my psychiatrist gave me Nefazodone. It saved my life! I went from having almost daily panic attacks to none. Severe depression to mild at times. I got my life back and was able to function! This was 20 years ago, and I'm still doing well. This is a unique medication and usually works when others fail. My only side effect was some visual effects for about 3 months. There has been a shortage recently, but now it’s back, and I am so grateful! If your doctor is concerned about liver problems, do not be discouraged! Unfortunately, this drug got a bad rap from its brand name, Serzone, years ago. It is no more dangerous than many other antidepressants and medications on the market, including Tylenol. Hope this helps someone like it did me."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Nefazodone worked for me when nothing else did. Remarkably, it has almost no side effects for me. I’ve tried so many treatments, including ketamine IV. I’m finally happy on just nefazodone. Loving life."

For Anxiety "I had debilitating anxiety and was prescribed nefazodone. I have experienced no side effects as far as I can tell and almost perfect relief. I'm back to normal. I only need 100 mg a day. When I'm very stressed, I sometimes have to take another 50 mg."
