For Anxiety "I have taken 500 mg of nefazodone and Xanax at night for anxiety and insomnia for 25 years. I think it was quite helpful. I have been wanting to take a vacation from it to see if it was still needed, but found the withdrawal unpleasant. It is currently unavailable in the U.S., so I thought no time like the present to titrate off of it. I’ve been reducing the dose by 175 mg every few weeks. My only withdrawal symptom has been insomnia this time. I am excited to see if it’s no longer needed."

For Depression "Started taking medication for anxiety around twenty years ago. Tried the SSRIs, and they worked pretty well, but I felt out of it, and my ejaculation was difficult and painful. Been taking nefazodone with Wellbutrin for about two years now and feel a lot better than I have in a long, long time, and no liver trouble so far. The dry mouth finally went away after about a year, but that was the only side effect that I had."

For Depression "Decades ago, I received the prestigious Teva Prize for outstanding scientific research in Israel. Since then, Teva merged with many non-Israeli companies to become the largest manufacturer of generics in the world. Teva's management and owners are no longer Israeli. Teva has financially collapsed due to horrible mismanagement, debt, and lawsuits. Now I am in the U.S. and suffering badly without my Nefazodone. I have been on it, 100 mg/day, for 18 years. Now my life is over because of Teva. The near-monopoly status in generics imposes on Teva special obligations to the users of its drugs. This point should be made clear to the FDA. We, the users of Nefazodone, should call and write to the FDA, hammering down this point. Please do so. Thanks."

For Depression "Fellow nefazodone users, here is what we can likely expect if the FDA shortage site EVER changes from unknown to recovery. Today, 8/4, Teva reverified AVAILABILITY UNKNOWN. Well, parallels, the other not so heard-of med by Teva, amoxapine, has been on the shortage list since March 2020. Now, I have followed that to learn a few times it has changed, once to expected recovery June 2021. Then July 2021, now it is recovery expected September 2021. So my point is, we nefazodone users have to wait for it to change first for nefazodone from UNKNOWN to expected, then no doubt in my opinion it will keep getting pushed back BACK ORDER that keeps being pushed back to more months down the road. Cannot believe Teva inflicted this on our lives and has not made it after 1 year, and for several more months IF it even comes back."

For Major Depressive Disorder "Nefazodone pulled me out of a 5-year depressive episode where I could not function. Since being on Nefazodone, I haven't felt better in my life! I am so stable... Now it's discontinued!! I am so upset and worried. I can't believe they could do this to people."

For Depression "I took both Serzone (brand) and nefazodone. I had no liver problems, no problems or side effects. My MDD was humming along just fine. I also have mild generalized anxiety disorder, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and migraines. I believed a psychiatrist when he told me that (paraphrasing) when the fibromyalgia got better, the depression, CFIDS, etc. would improve."

For Anxiety "I have been on this medication for 18 years, and I'm thankful that I found it. It was the only medication I found that would reduce job-related stress/anxiety enough to let me sleep decently and not affect sexual function. The only reason I rated this a 7 instead of a 10 is because I have developed some tolerance to it (I am at max dose of 600 mg). I have had to also take large doses of SAM-E as well, but it does still work. It is still available from at least 1 pharmaceutical company."

For Depression "Doctor prescribed nefazodone for depression over 25 years ago. I've continued to take nefazodone for over 20 years, however, due to an unexpected side effect of helping to manage pain from fibromyalgia. Also, to my amazing, unbelievable surprise, it took away my severe migraines and headaches that I suffered with for over 25 years, 24 hours per day. I've been migraine and headache free for over 20 years (occasional headaches like normal experiences most of us have)."

For Anxiety "I have been on this drug for 23 years. Had tried everything else, but my depression and anxiety were so terrible I ended up in the mental ward from trying to hurt myself. I have been to every drug store to get it, but now no one has it. Please bring it back or replace it with something Teva. There are many of us that need this!!!!"

For Depression "I first started taking Serzone after a brain injury in 1987. It worked great, then they decided to take it off the market. I then took the generic Nefazodone, and it has helped me more than other drugs for depression. I wish they had kept the Serzone, it did work better, but the only one I could tolerate was Nefazodone. Every other drug made me sick. P.S. It is hard to get the prescription filled in the Seattle area."

For Depression "I contacted Teva about it... THEIR RESPONSE: Thank you for contacting Teva Pharmaceuticals Customer Service. We wish we had better news, but all strengths of nefazodone hydrochloride tablets, USP, are temporarily unavailable with no release date. They have been in that status since 8/31/20. For Major Depressive Disorder "I started taking Nefazodone in January 2000 and continued taking it until 2015 when I was told that it had been taken off of the market. I had to drive about 25 miles to a pharmacy. So, my new doctor prescribed an SSRI called Celexa. I have been on the lowest dose possible and still gained about 30 lbs, and no matter what I do, I cannot get my weight to budge. Each time that I go to the doctor's office, my weight is up again even if I stick to 1200 calories a day. I am going to be going back to Nefazodone once I see my doctor in February. I will take it along with Wellbutrin. I started that regimen 20 years ago and felt the best that I had felt in years! I believe that I will feel better once again!"

For Depression "I have been taking this medicine since it's been out on the market. I remember my doctor telling me it was new and to give it a try. I felt like that is when all the cog works of my brain started working in conjunction with one another. I could see life as it really was. It actually gives me headaches, but after trying about 20 different medicines, this works. I take it with Topamax and Wellbutrin. Twenty years on a medicine isn't bad."

For Anxiety "I took nefazodone for 18 years. Somewhere along the way, it stopped working because when I came off the medication, I had no withdrawal symptoms. I recently emailed Teva, and they replied they have no idea when it will be released. Teva was offered to make the drug in the USA, and they DECLINED! Teva does not care about patients at all. I was lucky and had no withdrawal. I can't imagine what everyone else is going through. Nefazodone worked amazingly when I first started taking it. I actually think from taking it soon, it corrected what was wrong in my brain. I will continue to fight for everyone by constantly emailing Teva, the FDA, and whoever else I can get to listen to me. I'm concerned that if they bring nefazodone back, this shortage will happen again. Teva restructured the company and shut down several manufacturing plants. I did a lot of research."

For Depression "Nefazodone was finally the first antidepressant to work for me. Unfortunately, six months into the treatment, I started losing my memory and cognitive abilities. It's been six months since I've stopped the nefazodone, and I still haven't gotten my memory back fully. I'm honestly scared right now because it feels permanent. I looked it up online, and other people have gotten the same side effect. At first, I chose memory loss over depression, but then it got to the point where if I just took my medicine, I wouldn't remember if I took it or not. So I chose depression over memory loss. Now I'm depressed again and have memory loss."

For Depression "Serzone was my godsend in 2002. When the BMS brand was pulled from the market, I was skeptical, but the generic nefazodone seemed equally effective for me for 17 years! Until Teva's very untransparent discontinuation of it. Please, Teva, let another company use your raw ingredient to get all of us back to life. We may be a far smaller group than the Prozac beneficiaries, but we are real, we are many, and we are struggling as much without our lifeline nefazodone as with no answers about the future of the supply chain to restore our quality of life. With the new meds I've tried since Teva created this desert of necessity, nefazodone remains the only one to give me life and give it abundantly so that I can give my life back.... with a unique sense of normalcy! Lord, Teva, and the FDA (PLEASE put our tax dollars to work!): Hear my prayer."

For Depression "Nefazodone works better than most antidepressants (or possibly all antidepressants) that I have tried. It also helps advance my sleep phase (I have an intrinsic circadian rhythm sleep disorder called delayed sleep phase disorder with overlapping non-24-hour sleep-wake disorder). Nefazodone and melatonin are both absolutely essential to manage my CRSD. (And, unlike most of the drugs that affect serotonin, nefazodone doesn't seem to decrease sexual sensation or lower sex drive.)"

For Major Depressive Disorder "This medication has worked so well for me. I was in a really bad state prior to getting prescribed nefazodone. I can actually function again. So many people complain about all the negative side effects of antidepressants. If you are looking for a medication with few side effects, try this one. I don't even have any sexual side effects from it. I found a very supportive community with this medication that really helped me, and I was able to learn a lot about it. If you check out Facebook groups, look for a group called 'Nefazodone Shortage Survivors and Support.' This has helped with depression, anxiety, and panic disorder."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I was on nefazodone for over 20 years, and it shaped my life. It helped me become myself by controlling my symptoms without any side effects. Without it, my life is falling apart. My last dose was 11/5/2020. I'm flooded with depression, anxiety is wrapped around me... squeezing, squeezing. I can't breathe. I've put on a lot of weight. My clothes don't fit. I don't go out, can't think, play guitar, or write. I keep trying other meds. No luck. Now I'm on Fetzima. Maybe it will help. I love my life, I miss myself. I called Teva and was told nefazodone would be back. Teva wants money, it's logical that they would want it back on the market. I'm 64. Being older wasn't supposed to be so horrible. Until then, I have prayer. God doesn't care if I'm fat. And I have all of you to talk to. Thank you."

For Major Depressive Disorder "I have had depression and anxiety issues for 31 years. SSRIs do not work for me. My doctor had put me on Serzone when it first came out years ago, and it was the only medication that truly worked for me. I am also on two other atypical antidepressants to combat other issues I have with sleep and mood. The fact that I can no longer receive nefazodone has really affected me profoundly, and not being able to be on it is a shock to my system, as I was not able to wean myself off of it as one should do. In my research, I have found that Teva is missing a compound to manufacture it. No answer in regard to if it will be available in the near future is disheartening since I would like to feel normal again. Now I am at square one again and have to see a psychiatrist, this will be my third, so he can prescribe some other medication that I hope will work as well as nefazodone has for the last 26 years."
