Nefazodone for Depression "I started taking this drug for chronic daily headaches in 1999. It turns out they were caused by stress and serious depression. The Serzone was a miracle drug for me! I saw the world so much more clearly and without the negative lens. My headaches were gone (turns out it actually has a patent for preventing migraines!). I was on it for 8 years until I moved to a new city and had trouble finding doctors to prescribe it. So I was off it for the last two years, and my doctor had me on awful Depakote instead. I hated it! I found a doctor this week to put me back on Nefazodone (Serzone). I look forward to ramping up the dosage and feeling alive again! It was a great drug for me without sexual side effects, which is important to many men."

For Anxiety "I have depression and OCD. Nefazodone (Serzone) changed my life. The chains of OCD and depression fell off within 2 months of starting this medicine. This medication was an answer to prayer. I have been off and on SSRIs, but they did not help much. Paxil was the only medication that helped my OCD, but the side effects were bad. I have not experienced any sexual side effects, weight gain, or fatigue with Nefazodone. It's been a wonder drug for me."

For Depression "It has been over 6 months since nefazodone is back out of shortage. I am so relieved. My depression and anxiety have returned to pre-shortage levels. My anxiety was out of control during the shortage, I tried other meds, but like in the past, none of them worked. Nefazodone has really no side effects for me. Not even the dreaded sexual side effects that most antidepressants cause in people. I hope this medication is available for the rest of my life. For anyone struggling to find an effective antidepressant, give this one a shot. Over 20 years and it works just as well. If you want to talk to others who use nefazodone, join a Facebook group called Nefazodone Shortage Survivors and Support. They have a lot of knowledge and really helped me get through a rough time in my life. Their tips helped me find a pharmacy to fill my prescription shortly after the shortage ended."

For Depression "Started taking medication for anxiety around twenty years ago. Tried the SSRIs, and they worked pretty well, but I felt out of it, and my ejaculation was difficult and painful. Been taking nefazodone with Wellbutrin for about two years now and feel a lot better than I have in a long, long time, and no liver trouble so far. The dry mouth finally went away after about a year, but that was the only side effect that I had."

For Depression "Nefazodone works better than most antidepressants (or possibly all antidepressants) that I have tried. It also helps advance my sleep phase (I have an intrinsic circadian rhythm sleep disorder called delayed sleep phase disorder with overlapping non-24-hour sleep-wake disorder). Nefazodone and melatonin are both absolutely essential to manage my CRSD. (And, unlike most of the drugs that affect serotonin, nefazodone doesn't seem to decrease sexual sensation or lower sex drive.)"

For Major Depressive Disorder "This medication has worked so well for me. I was in a really bad state prior to getting prescribed nefazodone. I can actually function again. So many people complain about all the negative side effects of antidepressants. If you are looking for a medication with few side effects, try this one. I don't even have any sexual side effects from it. I found a very supportive community with this medication that really helped me, and I was able to learn a lot about it. If you check out Facebook groups, look for a group called 'Nefazodone Shortage Survivors and Support.' This has helped with depression, anxiety, and panic disorder."

For Depression "I am another 'long hauler' on nefazodone (25+ years) after settling on the proper dosage and figured I'd be on it for life. My pharmacist titrated me down on that and titrated me up on sertraline. After a few rocky weeks, I can say that the sertraline is doing its job with depression, but has lowered my sex drive to zero. Thanks, Teva, for taking away one of life's pleasures!"

For Depression "The only medicine that doesn't produce sedation or sexual dysfunction. Very good for anxiety also."
