For Chronic Pain "As an RN, I was exposed to massive radiation during heart caths from the fluoro-tube, as the left side of my face was close to the tube during caths. I had reconstructive surgery because the radiation destroyed the bones that held my teeth, the left sinus floor, then traveled to my left rib cage, 12 rib fractures from picking up a glass of tea or coughing. I also have fractured L4, L5, and S1 from a 5-rollover car accident. I've tried Demerol/Phenergan, oxycodone, OxyContin, Dilaudid, Vicodin, Percocet, Darvocet, Oromorph. All pain meds work differently on different neuro-pathways. The only med that has ever worked for me, Morphine IR 15 mg, 4x day. I took a morphine vacation for one month, then back on morphine. I can function, work, and be productive without being doped up. Extended-release morphine has never worked for bone/nerve pain. Doctors are now regulated by the DEA, and cannot prescribe more than 90 mg/day of any narcotic. Only end-stage cancer patients can get more."

For Chronic Pain "After getting a bad infection meningitis, I had some long-term damage. I have migraines daily, fibromyalgia, and interstitial cystitis. I can't take most pain medication because it can make it worse. Morphine is the only one that has worked for me, and I'm able to live a life! It's been 7 years, and my dose has stayed the same. I take morphine sulfate IR 30, 3 times a day. No side effects anymore. I can drive, and it doesn't affect daily activities. But be careful, it causes constipation. So if you are on it, I recommend that you take a stool softener and vitamins."

For Chronic Pain "Dr. switched me to Morphine IR 15 mg every 6 hours and Morphine ET 15 mg every 12 hours. I have severe lumbar facet joint syndrome, and my left L5/S1 facet is so swollen it presses against my sciatic nerve at times. Now that I’m on Morphine IR, I have my personality back intact, and I have found some relief! I recommend a genetic test if you feel meds aren’t working. I was on Percocet, which activates the kappa receptor, which can cause dysphoria (my experience). If you must be on these types of medications, trust your body to tell you, and if all else fails - ask for a genetic test for pain. It can be a very helpful tool in avoiding meds that won’t work or give you unwanted side effects!"

For Chronic Pain "I have been taking Morphine Sulfate IR (MSIR) 30 mg for over twenty-eight (28) years, and it truly helps me with my breakthrough pain relief. I have tried other pain medications; however, they have never even taken the edge off of my pain."

For Chronic Pain "I've been taking Morphine Sulfate IR 15 mg for two years now. It gives me 80% relief. I have two herniated disks and degenerative disk disease. I'm on disability. I can at least walk for longer than 10 minutes now. I know I should be on something a bit stronger, but here in Michigan, doctors are very reluctant to prescribe due to those who abuse!"

For Chronic Pain "I was in a severe car accident and broke both hips, both shoulders, 6 cervical and 5 lumbar and 1 thoracic vertebrae. I had to increase pain relievers, but the Tylenol with codeine causes my liver enzymes to increase. So, I combine the morphine 15 mg with fentanyl patches (was at 75, dropped to 25, but back up to 50) for immediate relief. This allows me to be able to get out of bed and do activities, and I'm in bed until it kicks in. I'm also on gabapentin 800 mg 3x daily and soma. I have flu-like symptoms when I miss my dose, so having to time my medical appointments to always be exactly on a day when I'm going to run out is an ongoing problem. Also, being on morphine means that I have to have dilaudid after surgeries."

For Chronic Pain "This is for IR, not SR or ER morphine. It's great. I have terrible reactions to extended release. I'm taking 15 mg at 2-hour intervals. I've been working with where my pain is, yet it still hurts. I know a higher dose will do better, but Morphine Sulfate IR is going okay for now."

For Chronic Pain "I take 15 mg four times a day of immediate-release morphine. The doctor tried several pain medications, but morphine is the only one that worked for me. I always felt like I was almost there in controlling my pain, but not quite. When the doctor put me on morphine, I couldn't believe how much better I felt, and I'm not tired or groggy at all. I can function really well, and I'm so thankful that my pain management doctor put me on morphine. I did want to mention one thing: it seems to start wearing off about 3 hours after you take your immediate-release pill. So sometimes you have to take another pill a little bit earlier, but the doctor said that would be OK as long as I don't go over the amount of pills I'm allotted for the day."

For Chronic Pain "I take Morphine Sulfate, 30 mg; bid. I take Morphine for an incurable brain disease. I take 3 narcotic medications for the absolutely unbearable pain I experience 8 times per day, at the exact same time. The Morphine IR 30 mg takes about a 1/10th of the pain away in about 20 minutes. If no relief in 20 minutes, I take one more. For me, Morphine IR 30 mg is a good choice; it works fairly well and does not interact with my other medications, which are many."

For Chronic Pain "My doctor prescribes Morphine Sulfate IR 15 to me for chronic pain. I get a really bad pain in my abdomen immediately after I take a dose, it happens every time. Does anybody have this problem? The only thing I like about taking Morphine is that I don't get groggy from it, but it doesn't seem to 'kill' my pain completely. My doctor used to prescribe me Oxycodone 40 mg, I couldn't stand the way that it made me feel. I'd get drowsy and feel like I was on heroin or something, and it didn't take away my pain."

For Pain "I have been in severe pain from the age of 12. I am now 30 and have been on many different medicines. This is the only medicine that lets me live my life with my 3 kids and husband. I love morphine and would never take anything else."

For Chronic Pain "Morphine sulfate IR does help me to function on a daily basis. I take it in conjunction with MS Contin. I suffer from fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, carpal tunnel, herniated discs, ruptured discs, and I also have hepatitis C. Therefore, taking anything containing aspirin or Tylenol would compromise liver health. I also have chronic pancreatitis. I am afraid to have surgery, I have blood drawn every three months to check my liver function. I have remained in remission for over three years this time. I did have a bout of pancreatitis two months ago. I don't drink alcohol either."

For Chronic Pain "Morphine ... great if you want to help with the pain and function. Doc have had me on every pain med there is. I was so doped up I didn't know what I was doing. I would drive, eat, talk to ppl and not remember. Oxy was like heroin (I guess, never did the real stuff). Fentanyl patches were the worst. Felt good the 1st day, the 2nd day you felt like crap, 3rd day you were sick going through a withdrawal. Had me on Neurontin and Soma, and Ambien... Finally, after 15 years I feel normal as I can, with this pain."

For Chronic Pain "I had been on Morphine IR for years, for back pain, before my total knee replacement. That's when it was increased to 30 mg for that surgery. I managed to wean off by 2024. I did not like that it gave me a hyperactive side effect. I asked my doctor about this side effect many times. Now in 2025, I have noted my back pain has increased due to stress and the winter weather. I will be having surgery for hereditary breast cancer this year. I want to discuss my flare-up neck and low back pain. I'm so deconditioned from several years of rest. I want physical therapy before my breast surgery."

For Pain "I have been on morphine for at least 7 years. It is the only medicine that seems to manage my pain. Without it, I would be in bed 90% of the time. With it, I can have a life."
