"I have to take antibiotics frequently, so I get YIs periodically. I've always taken Diflucan orally or used Monistat 7. I inserted the first dose of M3 last night before bed. I realized about 2 minutes later that I had to pee. After I did, it hit! The burning and itching were so intense that I had to walk around for a minute to get myself together. I lay in bed writhing in pure misery from the stinging and intense itching. Burning was bearable, but the itching just about did me in. I finally took my panties off and kept my legs separated so the heat wouldn't activate the yeast, as if it wasn't already activated. I was desperate! It took 2 hours to go to sleep, but laughing hysterically at the other reviews sure made the itching more bearable!"

"DON'T USE IT!!! It was my worst experience in my life. I took the Monistat 3 at 1 a.m., expecting that I'm going to sleep, and guess what?? It started itching like anything. I didn't know what to do. I started crying, I wanted to rip my own skin. I went on this forum, and I saw all the reviews, and I'm regretting that I didn't read them before using the product. I was using anti-itch wipes, but it became even worse, my lady was on fire. I tried to take the Monistat out with tampons, but nothing helped. Finally, after almost 2 hours, I fell asleep. It was the worst feeling in my life. DON'T USE THIS PRODUCT!!!! This product deserves a 0!"

"The cream-based Monistat 3 product kept me up every night, feeling like I was on fire. By the 2nd night, I felt as though my vagina was chemically burned. The third night was just reliving it over and over. You can't sleep at night from the burning and itching until you pass out from pure exhaustion, only to be woken up two hours later, where it starts all over again. Last night was my third night, and I couldn't take it anymore. At 4 AM, I went to the bathroom and jumped in the shower to try to get out as much of that stuff as I could, and then I laid in bed with ice until I was numb enough to fall asleep. The YI is gone, but I feel burned and awful. I've taken Monistat 3 before with a FAR worse YI, and it wasn't like this. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED."

"I wish I had found these ratings before I tried it. It was doctor recommended, but I have never felt burning this bad. I washed it out within 2 minutes, but 3 hours later and I can still feel it. There is no warning to do a test patch or anything. This is the most awful, torturous thing that I have ever experienced."

"LADIES!!!! You are not alone or crazy if it is burning you. The package says “mild burning and cramping,” but it is way more than that for me. It feels like hot sauce in my hooha, and the cramps are awful. For me, the only thing that helps is sitting up and icing her!! The burning has been lasting about 2 hours for me. After that, it’s completely normal. I think I will stick to trying to get a prescription pill from here on out… If that isn’t possible, then I will stick to the Monistat creams rather than the capsules, as they don’t cause me anywhere near as much discomfort. Praying for you and wishes for a healthy hooha ASAP."

"When I read the reviews, I was petrified of using the product because so many people said it burned horribly. I even put off starting it a couple more days, however, when I did take it, I had no burning, just slight internal itching. The itching can be helped by taking ibuprofen an hour or so before taking the product. The next morning I woke up, I had no symptoms! I continued taking the medicine and had no itching or burning the next two nights. It does leak throughout the day following when you took it, but using a pad helps a lot."

"How has this not been recalled? The worst experience ever. I have used similar products in the past with no problems. This caused extreme burning and pain within minutes and did not improve until evening the next day. Just in time for day two dose. It was worse than the day before. I am afraid to try a day dose 3. No way this is minor irritation. DO NOT USE THIS!!"

"The pain of this medication is worse than the yeast infection. Day one was horrible, lol. The burning lasted me 2 hours, however, I woke up feeling a little better. Day 2 wasn't as bad as day 1, the pain lasted one hour or so. I woke up feeling much better, and it feels like the yeast infection is gone. I assume the burning is what kills the infection. Today is going to be day 3, and if I'm good by tomorrow, then I must say the pain was worth it!!"

"I'm on my first night using Monistat 3, and I'm here sitting down after 30 mins with the most horrible burning sensation down there. I swear I'm very tempted to scream and jump, 'cause it's truly even worse than the YI itself. I must say 2-3 minutes after I put the cream, everything felt terrible. After 30 mins, the burning and itchiness are slowly decreasing. So, ladies, be aware of the side effects, because it's really a nightmare. I just hope it does its job, 'cause this feels horrible."

"So I’m literally sitting here with an ice pack on my who-ha! This stuff is awful! I used the Monistat 3, and instantly my lady caught fire! I found this site to see how I could get rid of the pain! Seems like I just have to suffer through. To all of you that haven’t felt this excruciating pain, you are lucky! I never have before, but now I feel for the rest of the burning vaginas!"

"I am on my third day of using this, and I am up at 5 a.m. from being awoken by the constant itching and burning this is giving me! The sensation is completely unbearable, and I feel as though my vagina is on fire! I don't know if I had an allergic reaction to this, but this is bad!"

"DON'T USE MONISTAT 3! But if you were like me, you are reading this because you are having an insane itch and/or burning in your vagina after using! Ask yourself... can ya tolerate this misery you're in right now ALL night (or at least until you pass out)? If not, run to your bathroom now. Get out as much as you can. I tried my hardest to pee what I could out and then got in the shower. I probably would have taken a bath though if I had a tub. Not itching half as bad as it was, but I literally didn't wait long after using and the crazy itch started. And then reading everyone else's comments. Will never take again!"

"Used the 3-day Monistat per recommendation of my OB-GYN nurse, and holy moly, this burns like no other. I jumped in the bath and literally scraped as much out as possible... that helped, but I am still more uncomfortable than before. I put coconut oil in and around, and that has drastically helped the burning and itching. Hope this helps. DON'T USE THIS PRODUCT!"

"So about 20 minutes into my first dose, there is some burning/itch that was worse then got better. It’s about at the level it was before I used it at this point, so I’m hoping that based on the positive reviews, it will work for me, and hopefully I will feel much better tomorrow. I'll try to update tomorrow (2/18)."

"This is a horrible product. A few minutes after inserting, my itching became much worse than the itching from the YI. My vagina is burning right now, it's so bad I'm crying and considering trying to wash it out."

"There was no itching or burning, but a lot of odorless discharge. I needed to act fast due to the fact that I am an active human being. I decided to purchase Monistat 3. Reading up on reviews, I read that many individuals were having horrible experiences with major burning and major itching. I purchased the 3-day cream, and here is my experience: When I inserted the tube with cream for the first time, there was no burning at all. A few minutes later, there was itching. The itching was not unbearable to the point where I would lose my sanity. It was very mild deep within. The itching only lasted for a few minutes, then stopped. This happened all three days. There were no irritations. The product really worked, I have not had another yeast infection. The only thing is, the cream is very messy. The medicine isn’t that bad, it’s fast-acting and it drains out everything. I highly do not recommend using this product all the time, but I do recommend it for mild infections."

"After reading all of these terrifying comments, I was so prepared for this to burn me so bad that I would want my vag to fall off, but it didn’t. I was awake for at least an hour before I fell asleep after putting it in, and it tingled and itched just a little bit, but nothing more than that. I found that it itched more when I got up to use the bathroom really quick after 30 minutes of having it in. Definitely wear a pad when using this product, as it does leak quite a bit, less if you put it in higher, they said. I’m only on day one of this though, so if anything changes, I will definitely be back to update everyone."

"I've used Monistat 3 and 7 both. I love that they're preloaded and come with cream for external relief. I keep reading about how bad it hurts and burns. And while yes, it may be a terrible feeling, this is because a yeast infection itself causes tiny microscopic rips and tears inside and around your vaginal area. The infection causes the skin to dry out and rip every time you flex any of your down there muscles. Then, the added fact that it's a high concentration of the medication that kills the fungus literally growing inside of your wooh-ha will definitely pack a punch. However, some strains may not be cleared with a 7-day treatment and may need to be treated with a higher concentration. Best of luck to everyone suffering with this tonight. Also, soaking in a hot bath with half a cup of baking soda for 15 minutes will help to relieve the itch and pain from the infection."

"I have used this medicine several times in the past, and usually it works, but it's not worked before, and the infection came right back. I never used to have problems with yeast infections, but ever since I had my children, it seems like I get them 4 or 5 times a year, and it's miserable. I've never felt the insane itching and intense burning from this product until now. It is unbearable and makes me skeptical as to if it's actually going to get rid of this infection because this is day 2, and I feel like it's just not stopping. The only thing that has helped soothe it temporarily is baking soda made into a paste (for the outside). It burns at first, but after the burn stops, I don't have the insane itch, and it feels soothing. It usually makes it stop for several hours. I just use it on a washcloth with water and wash it away after about 60 seconds."

"D1 was horrible. I thought my period was to blame for the itchiness! I did as instructed and I fell asleep for 1.5 hours until I was awoken by the itchiness. I used Summer’s Eve no odor cleansing wipes to clean away the cream and changed my pad. After 1.5 hours of squirming and groaning, I was able to sleep. D2, I prepped for war: got some wipes, water, extra pads, and a towel. 1.5 hours after inserting, I woke up to itchiness, this time I felt it slowly coming in, however, it was not as intense as the day before. To try and relieve itchiness, I took off my underwear, laid a towel underneath me, and let the kitty breathe. I fanned it to get some cool air and used a cold wipe. It kind of worked. Just don’t irritate or scratch. I’m so glad tomorrow is my last day, symptoms are gone, so was it worth it? Maybe LOL good luck girls!"

"I’m currently writing this review in bed, on my back, like I’ve been riding bareback for a week. My husband reluctantly got me an ice pack. Ladies, it feels like a blowtorch has been used inside my vajayjay, and the outside of it is SO itchy I feel like I should be handcuffed to make sure I don’t scratch! WTH is wrong with the 3-day cream?! I could handle the itch... it was at a 3 until I applied the external cream, and I’m at a 10 now. How am I going to sleep?! I’m debating washing it out. I literally sat on the toilet in shock, crying for ten minutes before I emerged complaining about how much pain I was in!"

"If you hate yourself & your vagina, use this... If not, do not purchase this. I knew I had a yeast infection but was too lazy to go to the doctor & figured I would give Monistat 3 a day a go... Worst idea ever. Yesterday was night one, and 2 minutes after inserting the suppository, my vagina was on fire (the only way I can describe it is like having poison ivy and red ants in your lady parts). Had a script called in for me, and the doctor recommended I finish out the Monistat because I apparently have a 'really bad YI.' Night 2 is tonight and is just as bad as last night. I will not be doing this a 3rd night. All of the responses to this are spot on. Learn from everyone else's mistakes!!"

"I am on night 2 of Monistat 3 ovules that you insert into the vagina. No pain... nothing. A lot of leakage through the night of the medicine breaking down. Outside cream is okay, only used it once, don’t really think I need it. It is my first YI, so I hope it works. The pain and swelling have gone away. Light itching every now and again... so I have hope. If not, I guess I’m going to the doc, lol."

"Honestly, I wanted to write a review too and contribute to all the fun, so I was sick and the doctors gave me amoxicillin. I hate taking amoxicillin because it gives me yeast infections, but I had to beat my sickness, so I took it anyway. Got that yeast infection, but it was worse than the other times I had it, so I decided to get some cream or something to fight it. Found this at Target and was excited to get rid of this thing! OMG. The first hour was so terrible, felt like my cookie was on fire, and the internal itching was so bad. I couldn’t stand it, so I ended up sitting in the shower and letting the steam hit my cookie, it relieved the pain, and afterwards, I was fine! Today, I didn’t feel any of my yeast infection symptoms and honestly was scared to do the second round, but you gotta do what you gotta do! Currently on my second night, I took some Tylenol an hour before, and the burning is not there, but the itching definitely is, but it's not worse than last night."

"Monistat saved my sanity and my girl parts! I went about 2 days trying to do home remedies, and nothing was working. I was so itchy, irritated, and ridiculously swollen. I told my friend, and she suggested Monistat for me. I put it in before bed, put the anti-itching cream that came with it, and within an hour, I felt so much relief, woke up the next morning feeling a lot better. Last night, I did the second dose, I felt a little bit of burning, but I fell asleep quickly and feel almost 100% better today. I’m so excited to do the last one tonight and hopefully will feel completely back to normal. Do not let the reviews scare you off! It works!"
