For Inflammatory Conditions "I went to my neurologist for pain, numbness, and weakness in my back and left shoulder. Well, not only did I find I have ortho arthritis, but also stenosis. My pain was at a 6-7 when I first saw him, and Narco was not helping. He put me on a 6-day course of this med, and I took it having low expectations. After only taking dose one, I woke up the next day almost pain-free! I am on day three with little side effects (trouble sleeping), and for that, I take a muscle relaxer, which seems to do the trick. I hope this keeps up and am grateful that I am feeling much better!"

Methylprednisolone for Multiple Sclerosis "A very effective drug for stopping MS relapses. I have had about 7 courses of treatment (over approximately 20 years) consisting of infusion of 1 gram per day of Solu-Medrol for 3 consecutive days. Pretty brutal side effects: immediate metallic taste in mouth after commencing infusion; persistent agitation or feeling wired; difficulty sleeping; spikes blood sugar. All side effects disappear shortly after the conclusion of infusion therapy."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Day two of methylprednisolone. Headaches, insomnia, dizziness, nausea, even taken with food. Pain ratio still at eight, hopefully will get to zero with massage and acupuncture. I have seen wonders with this medication, I just pray I am one of the wonders."

For Inflammatory Conditions "Going on day 2 with this medicine. I was prescribed this because of excruciating pain in my thoracic spine. This has worked wonderfully! Although I could not sleep at all last night, I am pain-free this morning :)"

For Inflammatory Conditions "31 days post-op from fusion in my neck and microdiscectomy in my lower back. Overall, surgeries were a great success, and 85% of all pre-surgical symptoms are gone. Still having pretty bad leg, hip, and pain around the sciatic region as they were present five years and will, of course, take time to subside. I was recently put on my second 7-day 4 mg methylprednisolone pack, and the first 24 hours have been hell. Level 10 pain in my leg, where they made room for the nerve and removed bone, and sore hips. These pills suck in the first few days. Having taken them before, I know they work wonders, but appetite through the roof, paranoid as I have ever been, can't sleep, and pain."

For Inflammatory Conditions "The doctor prescribed this to me along with Levaquin for a severe sinus infection. Took it for 4 days, and on the 5th day, terrible dizziness and unsteadiness on my feet. Insomnia and constipation have also been rearing their ugly heads. I'd take the sinus infection again, rather than feeling faint and dizzy all day."

For Osteoarthritis "Orthopaedic surgeon gave me two spinal injections for pain due to much deterioration, arthritis, etc. Wonderful relief!! He also gave me the 4 mg methylprednisolone Medpak. I put off taking it for many days because my pain was gone, and since I read the horrible reviews, I only took 'one' pill, just 1, and I was jittery & pacing & had to pee every 20 minutes. UGH. So I thought, well maybe after time your body gets used to it & it won't be as bad. Wrong idea big time!!! I couldn't sleep for two days, couldn't concentrate or think straight. So needless to say, I stopped taking it."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I've taken these packs a number of times. The first handful of times taken on various occasions, I suffered insomnia the first 2 nights of the 6-day course, which OTC sleep aid helped, and I also had hot flashes for two days, but the benefits certainly outweigh the minimal effects. Usually, I feel calmer during the day and more amped up at night, no matter what time I take the medicine. Thankfully, this time I've only had a few hot flashes, however, I've been euphoric and sad throughout the day, like my mood is really up or really down, and it stinks, but this is the price to pay when you have some health conditions. I am usually more tired the last day of taking the course, and after ending the course, I have stomach bloating for a few days. It's good to take the medicine with food to prevent a stomach ache/nausea."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I went to the doctor for a shot in my foot for a spur. I was given this steroid pack for the inflammation in my heel. I also suffer from severe back pain. I went to a pain doctor, he wanted to burn my nerves in my back. I did not do it, I went to an orthopedic doctor and had injections in my lower back. Nothing worked. But this made me feel 95% better! It had also taken the pain away in my lower back! No more pain! From what I read, it will wear off, and I will be back in pain in a few weeks. I dread that day. I have had no side effects other than a little tongue dryness (like a baby thrush), went away within an hour, and a little bit of sweating, but I had worse during menopause, a little bit of insomnia, but I took half a melatonin to help with sleep just for one night and was fine. I didn't get the hunger attack everyone else did, it was the opposite. I did have one downtime as I was coming to the end of my medication."

For Allergic Rhinitis "This is some grim stuff. I was prescribed the 16 mg tablets for allergic rhinitis, which comes and goes every now and then. First day I took it... very hefty headache and some trouble sleeping that night. I thought, 'Was that the medicine I took, or did I just lack fluids today?'. I left it for a few days, took 1 again today. Nope. Not good at all. I feel like I've been beaten up. Headache, lower back aches, legs ache, got no mental clarity. If anyone suffers from allergic rhinitis like myself, consider the fluticasone furoate nasal spray. That's been excellent for me."

"The most horrible experience of my life. A horrible drug! I was given it for a sinus infection. I paced, pulled my hair, couldn't sleep for a week, and couldn't eat. Four 911 calls, four trips to the ER. I was finally told to stop taking methylprednisolone. Then I had withdrawals from stopping cold turkey and felt like I was suffocating and was going to die. Went to a different ER and was given a Xanax to get me through."

Methylprednisolone for Allergic Rhinitis "TBH I don’t really know why my ENT prescribed me this stuff. He just said, “I think I know what your problem is and this should help.” Guess I should’ve probed him for some more information. Side effects have been nuts, though. I can actually breathe, but I worked out by going to cycling, which I usually do weekly... halfway through the workout I wanted to DIE. I was sore as hell, and when I got home to try and sleep, I couldn’t because I was in so much pain. I do think it has added to my already there insomnia, too. It does make me a bit irritable, but the crazier side effect has been my mega increased libido. Craziness."

For Gout, Acute "This drug completely alleviates pain and swelling associated with my acute gout, but I am experiencing side effects of anxiety, restlessness, gas, bloating, abdominal pain, insomnia, mood swings, depression, and paranoid thoughts. I'm looking forward to phasing this out, but thankful for the gout relief!"

For Immunosuppression "Currently taking 16 mg of Medrol once a day as part of undergoing IVF, although I've taken it in the past at smaller doses to help with my chronic, moderately severe asthma, which worsens in winter. While I love prednisone for what it does in helping me breathe (and hopefully in successfully helping me achieve motherhood), I hate its side effects. For me, the biggest problem is the anxiety (though weight gain isn't fun). I already have an underlying anxiety disorder, but taking this, especially in higher doses, makes me feel truly 'crazy.' Panic at unbearable levels, insomnia, sweaty, clammy hands and feet, racing heart, irrational/inconsolable...the whole nine yards. I use it strictly as a last (or only) resort and not without caution."

For Ulcerative Colitis, Active "Got the injection in gluteus maximus on Tuesday, Oct 30, 2018... immediately felt like I could breathe better. Next day had really bad jitters, flushing in my face and unable to sleep. After that started having pain in my neck and arm on left side, stomach felt like it was tight and going to burst... 5 days later still feeling very jittery/shaky on the inside and very tired... will NEVER be getting this again... hopefully, the side effects subside."

For Inflammatory Conditions "I would have to say that this medication is a good/bad drug. Every time I have taken it for my lupus, it seems like it works for 2 to 3 days, and then for the next 3 days, it just goes back to having bad inflammation. I don't like the side effects I get from it, which are I eat like crazy, and I have major insomnia and probably sleep maybe 3 hours each night while I'm on it for the 6 days. I don't understand why it only works for the first 3 days for me. I don't know if it's because it's the dose pack and the amount is all given at first. I don't know if there was a way to give me the amount on the first day without any major side effects, gladly take it."

"I was prescribed a 6-day treatment for an ear infection. Unfortunately, I had bad side effects after only 3 days-shortness of breath, sweaty, insomnia, irregular heartbeat. Almost sent me to the ER for a panic attack. I stopped taking it on day 5. Back to normal just a day after stopping. Terrible experience."

"Was prescribed the 4 mg dose pack for swelling and bruising after a rhinoplasty. Wow, the side effects are horrendous. Oh, the first day I took the first 6 and experienced the side effects right away: diarrhea, upset stomach, extreme dizziness, feeling faint, shaky, insomnia, anxiety, shortness of breath. Just the worst. My swelling has gone down, BUT swelling is expected to go down around this time, therefore, not sure if it was the methyl. I only took a day's worth and decided that I will discontinue it. So it could very well not have made any difference. Rather have the swelling."
