Lurasidone for Schizophrenia "Despite taking this awful medication with food, it made me feel ill. If I took it, I’d feel sick. If I didn’t take it, I also felt sick. It made me extremely stupid and unmotivated. I felt terrible. I also have possible Tourette’s, which was made worse by Latuda. I’m having slight tremors still. Switched to Paliperidone/Invega. Hoping for better luck…"

Lurasidone for Bipolar Disorder "The drug seems to make me stable, I wasn’t stable on anything less than 60 mg. I do best now at 120 mg. The real downside I have with the drug is I still struggle with insomnia, so even though this drug knocks out other people, I’m still wide awake with terrible symptoms. My stomach gets twisted, I’m nauseous, I start to get vertigo, and I get all shaky. It’s not a fun feeling to have, especially while you’re struggling to fall asleep. Other than that, it’s been great at stabilizing me through a really tough time."

"Didn’t stop the paranoid feelings and induced severe akathisia, which felt like 5-8 panic attacks, impending doom, can’t sit or stand in one place for even one minute, insomnia sleeping for 1/2-3 hours of broken sleep while trying for ten hours a night, nausea, digestive problems, tremors, muscle twitches, and inability to focus. Started within weeks of starting the med. Symptoms of needing to move stopped three weeks after stopping the med. Insomnia lasted 8 months after stopping the med. Anxiety lasting 9 months. Tremors and twitching continuing still, and it’s 17 months from stopping the med. Latuda was a big fail, and the resulting akathisia can be really hard to live with. This is a documented fact. The akathisia “inner tension” description of possible side effects is like saying there’s a paper cut when really a leg has been cut off. It does not always stop after removal from the med."

For Schizophrenia "I've been on Latuda for a little under 2 and a half years. It almost completely stopped my psychotic symptoms except I still hear voices now and then, mainly when I try to go to sleep, but there are no delusions or paranoia while on the drug. I take Cogentin in combination with it because it causes me to shake a lot. Main side effects I experience include anhedonia, shakiness, jaw clenching, and inability to sit still. However, I'm happy with it because it actually works, while other antipsychotic meds I tried did not, and it doesn't cause the endless hunger that I experienced with drugs like Saphris, Haldol, Zyprexa, and Risperdal. It should be noted I am at the max daily dose, which is 160 mg."

"I recently started, and the first 2 weeks had a lot of side effects (insomnia, panic attacks, restlessness, muscle leg stiffness, body tremors, brain fog), but they all went away except the body temperature issue. I tend to get hot in hot weather and sweaty, so I have to be careful in hot weather or while exercising. I'm on 20mg, the lowest dose. It's helping with depression, anxiety, delusions, concentration, and hallucinations. I do feel at times the delusions trying to come back, but they fade away after a few minutes and are manageable so far. The impulsiveness is less, and I stop and ponder my decisions more. I probably need to go up to 40mg eventually, but I'm concerned about the side effects being more intense and lasting longer. For now, 20mg is doing a good job with some symptoms that come and go but are manageable for the most part. I'm cleaning, watching full movies (I couldn't do that before), and I have 1-2 projects versus a lot of unfinished projects before. Anxiety was due to my delusions, I think. It's a lot better now."

Lurasidone "Started back on Latuda 2 weeks ago. Came off of Seroquel, and my body adjusted to the Latuda quickly, which was a pleasant surprise. Except for a light tremor in my hands and a little coordination issue. This drug works so well for my schizoaffective disorder. A real blessing to me. My mind is quiet and calm finally. The only issue I have is I can't take it at night because it messes up my sleep, and I have very little appetite. Otherwise, so far, so good. I had to stop the Seroquel because I had very bad tardive dyskinesia. Thank you, Latuda."
