"I was put on Latuda by my doc along with my Geodon. Couldn't eat anything, or I threw up everything, including my other meds. I got extremely psychotic, so once off it, I felt a whole lot better with a small amount of Seroquel added instead."

"I've been on it for about 12 days. I'm also on Luvox. So far, I don't see much benefit out of it. It's made me extremely tired and hungry, two things I hate to be. I'm really hoping with some more time it improves because my anxiety is horrible, and a few years ago I was into heroin and Xanax, so I don't want to fall down that road again. The Luvox definitely helped, but not enough. I'm also only on the 20mg of Latuda right now. How long do you think it takes to get the full effect?"

"Started on 10 mg, increased to 20, then to 40. The blurry vision cleared up for the most part after a few months. Latuda definitely makes me feel better. Not 100%... but better. Having to take it with 350 calories is difficult, especially before bed, and the weight gain was pretty bad, but then I started taking calcium, magnesium, zinc and dropped the weight... weird... but it works. Just need to make sure the magnesium is maleate... others make me too tired."

Frequently asked questions

"Needs to be taken with food. Worked well for about a year, then it gave me random bouts of severe depression and fatigue. I think when I was taking this, I had more homicidal thoughts. Thank God I don't suffer from these side effects anymore. I'll stick to my Abilify."

"Switched from ziprasidone to an introductory dose of Latuda. Had to quit within the first few days. Made me dizzy all day and feel terrible anxiety. This medicine is not for everyone. Did not calm my mind."

"I have taken Latuda for 4 months, and I can say it's a life changer. It helps me with my psychosis, and it stops it in less than a month. I take the 37 mg dose every night. It helps me to be more concentrated at work. I recently found myself very productive and happier. No side effects. Highly recommended."

"I’m quite young and started Latuda after a nasty experience with Abilify. This slightly helped, but I soon stopped taking it after hearing about the side effects, like high blood pressure and things such as. I was on 40 mg and saw some improvements, but ultimately, the side effects outweighed the good it did."

"I’d rate this a 2/10. I took this from October 2016 to April 2017 when I was 18 years old, 60 mg twice a day for schizophrenia, anxiety, and panic attacks. Although it made the paranoia and anxiety go away, it gave me insane akathisia where I would move around in my seat as if I had to pee really, really bad, paced back and forth even though I couldn’t keep my eyes open, my arms felt restless, and I had this unexplainable cold feeling inside my body. I stopped in March 2017, but to this day I still have tardive dyskinesia, and I’m on a different medication now. This one sucked, smh."

"I had tried several other atypical antipsychotics to treat my schizophrenia over the last year, and most just made me tired and didn’t help with the hallucinations and delusions. It took about two and a half weeks at 20 mg, and this had gotten it about 90% under control. I rarely hear voices and have had only one delusion of persecution in that time. I may ask to go up a dose at my next appointment, but this has been such a relief after trying ability, lybalvi, invega (which worked before), and Caplyta (which worked for almost a month and failed terribly). Make sure you eat with it and be patient. No noticeable side effects at a little over a month yet."

"Despite taking this awful medication with food, it made me feel ill. If I took it, I’d feel sick. If I didn’t take it, I also felt sick. It made me extremely stupid and unmotivated. I felt terrible. I also have possible Tourette’s, which was made worse by Latuda. I’m having slight tremors still. Switched to Paliperidone/Invega. Hoping for better luck…"

"I took Latuda for numerous years, but eventually my treatment changed. Ultimately, I am grateful for the time I was on the Latuda medicine. If you are taking the Latuda medicine, I highly suggest that you find the right dose and continue treatment with this medicine! This is one of the best antipsychotic treatments for schizoaffective disorder and bipolar disorder, but just be aware that you should technically be taking this medicine with Depakote. This medicine treats schizophrenia, psychosis, and bipolar depression, but you would need to add Depakote to treat bipolar mania and epilepsy. I am super grateful for when I took this medicine with Depakote! Technically, I think you should be fine if you take this medicine and maybe try some other psychiatric or generalized medicines for your overall health."

"Was prescribed Latuda for PTSD symptoms. No notable symptoms except nipple discharge. After many excruciating tests, found prolactin levels had risen, which caused breast cancer. Had double mastectomy in May 2017, along with chemotherapy and radiation."

"You can go insane if you get off this drug cold turkey, and if you're drinking/drugging in between, you will end up at the hospital like me. I stopped using for 3 months now. The last few days have been a nightmare. I was smoking weed while not taking Latuda, and I had a depressive breakdown where I ended up in emergency twice in the past 4 days. I was so fatigued my eyes were shutting on their own, and I thought I was going to die if I fell asleep. It's a feeling of insanity. Don't mess around with this drug. Go step by step as your doctor tells you. Overall, the drug has its ups and downs. Some of the side effects are dreadful. Good luck."

"I suffer from schizoaffective disorder with bipolar tendencies. Latuda can cause severe breast pain on high doses. It definitely helps stop voices and completely resolves depression."
