"After having horrible nausea with lithium, my doctor switched me to Caplyta. I felt my highs and lows to be less dramatic. My biggest issue was the extremely dry mouth, but besides that for me, I didn't have huge issues with the other known side effects."

"I'm taking Caplyta for bipolar depression. I am 3 weeks in, and the side effects are kind of rough. Super dry mouth and nausea, constant yawning, and like a shaky feeling. I can tell it's working, but now I'm just noticing the side effects."

"I'm terrible at taking my medications regularly, Caplyta has been no exception. I take 1 at night and sleep like a baby for about 8 to 10 hours. I get no negative side effects at all. They are expensive, but if they work with no negative effects, to me that's priceless. I take it erratically, but it has boosted my mood a little, probably due to more sleep. It's also calmed me a little, I'm less moody, and have fewer mood swings. I'm slower to react, and I even think before I speak on occasion. The pills are easy to swallow, and it takes about 30 minutes to kick in."

"Caplyta comes in 20 mg pills. I agree with all of the above reviews that my initial experience with the drug replicated the feeling of super icy or extremely hot sensitivity. I talked to my psychiatrist about this, and he recommended opening up the capsule and taking a micro dose of the pill on my tongue or putting it in applesauce. That cuts down on those side effects. It works really well as an anti-depressant for bipolar and is one of the few drugs on the market that does that. And just as a side note, if you have bipolar depression, you shouldn't be taking anything in the serotonin class because bipolar depression has nothing to do with dysregulation of serotonin. It will only make you more dysregulated over time. Caplyta is a D1, D2, and D4 antagonist, all of which have been shown to be implicated in bipolar depression."

"I suffer from depression, possibly unipolar, possibly (what my current psychiatrist thinks) bipolar II. I've been on Caplyta 42 mg for 11 months. The first few weeks, it seemed miraculous. I'd been suicidal due to lack of sleep; suddenly, I was sleeping 7-8 hours a night, and, what's more, in a good mood all day, even in the early mornings and the evenings. There was a bit of grogginess, but it wasn't bad. But gradually over the months, the side effects increased: the grogginess got worse, I seemed cold all the time, and I became easily confused in the evenings. And much of the positive effect on my mood went away; though my grogginess was greater-in fact, it was the worst grogginess I'd experienced in my life-I was sleeping less. Part of the worsening side effects may be a result of my deteriorating kidneys (I'm in stage 3 kidney disease). Now, at 11 months, the grogginess is slightly better, the chills are mostly gone, I'm sleeping 5-6 hours. My mood is usually good if I can wake up."

"I have been on Caplyta 42 mg for about 3 to 4 months. At first, the only side effect I had was when I woke up in the morning. I took it at night, I would feel extremely tired but couldn't nap. It did work for my hallucinations at first, but I always build a resistance to all of the antipsychotics that I've taken. So my hallucinations are back, but now are worse than before. I also noticed that I talk way more than I have in the past. I usually don't talk much. I'm gonna rate it higher than low because it does work, I just am resistant to treatment."

"Taking the lowest dose for 3 months and depression has been lifted. I smile and laugh more than I have in a long time. I experience many negative side effects throughout the day such as the inability to regulate body temperature. Overheating due to being outside gives me headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, and nausea. I drink lots of water to try to stay hydrated and, in turn, have frequent urination even throughout the night, but I am able to fall right back asleep. My sleep is better than it was before. I don't oversleep like I used to and I wake feeling rested. I experience chronic lower back pain since starting Caplyta and am unsure of what to do about it. I tried for one week to go up to the 21 mg, but it was the worst experience of my life in terms of side effects, so I decided to stick with the 10.5 mg dose."

"I've been taking this drug for a while now. It's been at least a couple of years now. And I've noticed it doesn't make me gain weight, which is a big plus for me and others as well who are having to use this prescription drug for whatever they are in need of it for. In my case, I'm bipolar 1. And what I was told by my Dr. is that I would have issues with going to the restroom, number 2, which I've had problems with before taking it. I found out that on my dad's side of the family, cancer runs in the bowels, and he had an issue there a while back. So this makes me very concerned about if I should even be taking this medication."

"Within a couple of weeks of starting, my depression had gone from severe to moderate-severe. It was a noticeable improvement and was very welcome. I did not notice any side effects that I usually get with atypical antipsychotics. One of the few psych meds I've been on that I'd recommend!"

"I started this for bipolar 1 on 2/5/22. At first, I couldn't sleep. Day 4 was much better. I feel more like my old self now. I have had no side effects, and maybe won't have any."

"Excellent medication. I tried antidepressants all throughout the nineties up until now. They never really worked for me. Caplyta helps with my hyperactivity, anxiety, and depression symptoms."
