For Schizophrenia "This medication literally SAVED MY LIFE. Back in the Spring of 2006. I was a college student who was on the verged of getting kicked out for poor grades. I had severe concentration, hallucination, and and poor communication skills. My hygeine was TERRIBLE. I hardly took a shower or brushed my teeth. Nobody wanted to be around me because I stunk really bad and my psychiatrist misdiagnosed and I was in an abusive relationship. I had to withdrew from my courses. I met a family online from another state, who had kids with psychiatric issues. I decided to dropped out of school until things got better or get expelled. I went out of state saw the family and saw their psychiatrist letting him know about my mental situation and I was prescribed Loxapine, along with brand name Trileptal and generic Klonopin and was diagnosed with Schizoaffective disorder. And I was a new man. I took care of myself and eventually went back to school and made straight A's. No voices and hard work. It paid off."

For Schizophrenia "Have been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder and mild schizophrenia. Have been taking Effexor and Valium long term but psychiatrist decided to add in loxapine for agitation, extreme paranoia and mood swings. Have tried basically every med with all the side effects (seroquel, abilify, Zoloft, cipralex, Wellbutrin, adderall, clonazepine, divalproex, mirtazapine, hydroxyzine, amytriptyline and a bunch more). I actually feel normal for the first time in a very long time! I take 10mg loxapine at night which also helps me fall asleep and the only side effects so far are dry mouth and dizziness during the day and I would MUCH rather have these very minimal side effects than feeling crazy 24/7. I also suffer from restless leg syndrome and it doesn’t aggravate it. Was very scared to try an antipsychotic again but very pleased so far. Even helping with my depression symptoms and I don’t feel like my mood is just going to snap dramatically during the day anymore."

For Schizophrenia "I was hearing voices to the point where I wasn't sleeping for 4 or 5 days straight. The voices would keep me up all night. I started Loxapine and within a few days the voices were quieter and I was sleeping almost normal again. Only getting woken up once or twice a night by voices. It has helped my delusions a bit as well, but not as much as the voices. I actually was able to lose weight on it too. Compared to gaining 20 pounds in one month on zyprexa. The side effects for me are very mild. It sedates you, so I take my dose at night. Overall it's been the best drug I've tried for schizophrenia so far."

For Schizophrenia "My friend had suffered from Schizophrenia for several years and refused to believe she had it. After 5-6 failed medications for it I suggested Loxapine to her doctor as a shot in the dark. After 4-5 months it has worked wonders for her. No more thinking her mind is being read, being followed, strange loud noises, bad side effects etc. Her symptoms have become quite minimal"

For Schizophrenia "This medicine completely changed my life in the way that my voices are at ease and I can function in society correctly. The side effects for me are severe tiredness. If I have to stay on loxapine I will, but because of the tiredness, I am exploring my options of something else."

For Schizophrenia "Guys, the medicines you are taking ARE causing the mental illness. Reduce one medication at a time only. 10% of the LAST dose. Wait until you stabilize before reducing 10% of the latest dose taken. If you go too fast you will experience withdrawal side effects. If you take your time you will see drastic improvements and you will give your brain time to heal from this chemical lobotomy. God Bless. Effectiveness is -10 as with all brain altering medications."

"This loxapine is the most effective and best drug I have ever been prescribed for my Bipolar disorder - 2. I was able to lose weight on it unlike many other Bipolar medications I've been on in the past. My mood has been stable and I have felt great for two years. I did have to reduce the dosage because I was getting the weird swallowing side effects, but since I reduced the dosage I haven't had any issues. Would definitely recommend this medication to anyone who has tried everything else for bipolar and is discouraged."

"I am really amazed by Loxapine so far. I have bipolar disorder and this seems to be a drug that calms me down and improves my mood, with almost no side effects. It helps me sleep at night, without making me tired during the day. Also, it doesn't make me hungry the way Olanzapine, or some antidepressants used to. Loxapine doesn't give me the physical side effects like muscle weakness that Paxil and Olanzapine did. Finally, this drug definitely has antidepressant effects, I can feel it. I think this is the perfect drug for bipolar disorder, I don't know why this isn't prescribed more often."

"I was diagnosed with a dissociative disorder. I occasionally hear different parts/split personalities talking to me and have felt like I'm watching myself, or in a fog, in a dream. I also get these bad headaches, sensations in my head from the mild dissociation if I'm not taking my med. Since taking a low dose of 25mg of Loxapine at night, these symptoms have greatly diminished. I can also think clearer. The symptoms come back after a few days if I stop the medication, so I will continue taking it for the rest of my life. My only criticism about this drug is I put on 15 pounds, and my imagination is slightly less vivid, but the benefits outweigh the negatives."

For Schizophrenia "I switched to loxapine from risperidone because my doctor said that it wouldn't cause weight gain. Unfortunately, I did gain weight on this as well. It also had a sedative effect. But in terms of treating my symptoms, it works perfectly fine."

For Schizophrenia "Mostly allows me to sleep several hours a night and sometimes into the afternoon. Causes slowing of the metabolism which leads to weight gain supposedly it was supposed to be weight neutral according to my psychiatrist but I don't believe it. Causes sedation and yawning and the need to seek out a bed to lie down on about 30 minutes after it's taken. Makes you crave sugary and high fat foods. I do believe I hear less voices on it though but that's because it makes you sleep your life away so you're not deficient on sleep to cause voices."

For Schizophrenia "This medication worked for my hallucinations but I had involuntary blinking at all the different dosages I've tried. I was constipated thus causing me to have acne, had high blood pressure, and gained weight. Also, I felt so dehydrated to the point of getting headaches. I had troubles with being too sleepy to function."

For Schizophrenia "I was actually prescribed Loxapine when I was inpatient hospitalized. My inpatient psychiatrist was aware of a number of treatment options for schizoaffective disorder, psychosis, and bipolar disorder and prescribed this medication in combination with Depakoter. I am currently taking 50 mg of Loxapine medicine every night at bedtime and I find that this is a pretty helpful medicine in combination with my other medicines. I am taking a higher dosage of this medicine that is intended to help more disturbed patients or patients with more severe symptoms."

For Agitated State "Was prescribed this in tandem with my lithium for bipolar 2. Originally it was just to control me when I was manic, then it turned into a day to day, and because I became a zombie and couldn’t function it went back to just when I’m manic, works for the crazies but I wish it didn’t zombie me out as soon as my manic phase drifts out to either depression or my “normal”. Dose was 10mg to start then increased to 15mg when it went daily, I use the 15mg at bedtime while manic."
