For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Victoza for almost 3 months. Why didn't someone tell me about this sooner. There are some side effects in the beginning: nausea, headaches, loss of appetite, but they only lasted a few weeks. I did experience bad stomach cramps and major nausea when I increased to 1.2, but I called my doctor and she told me to stick with the 0.6 until my next visit, which she kept me on. My sugar levels have been great, 95-115, a far cry from the 200-300's. My A1C went from 7.6 to 6.2 in 2 months, and I have lost 22 lbs so far. I also take metformin 1000mg 2x a day. I have noticed that my blood pressure has increased slightly, so we are watching that and may need to increase my blood pressure medicine. About administering the shot: I was intimidated at first, but it's painless."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I'm one week in with Victoza and my appetite has decreased significantly, having gastroenteritis symptoms in the evening and really bad flatulence! I am eating small meals of bland food to compensate. I started on the 0.6 dose and will increase to 1.2 in a couple of days. Good news, I am losing weight! No sugar cravings! Will keep you all posted on how it progresses."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started using Victoza on 7-10-19 on a dosage of 0.6 mg a day. No hectic side effects. Before I started, my weight was 112 kg, and I am now at 106.8 kg on 16-10-2019. I do intermittent fasting as well, so coffee with no sugar in the morning and lunch and supper, with supper no later than 8 pm. I usually eat light meals for lunch and supper. I drink a lot of water, a minimum of 2 L a day and some days more. I'm struggling with constipation, but I'm thinking of trying veggie smoothies for lunch next week. I don't exercise at the moment because I have knee problems, although I want to try walking at least for an hour on the treadmill. My goal weight is 60-65 kg. I'll see my doctor at the end of October, and she will most likely increase my dose. Fingers crossed I reach my goal weight within 6 months."

For Type 2 Diabetes "My doctor told me upfront I would experience nausea for around a couple of weeks. I did. My numbers dropped like a rock. Lost 40 pounds, and look better and feel better, and have a new closet of clothes. After about 2 weeks, I realized the nausea was gone. If you can 'hang in there' with it that long, this might be just what you need to help with your diabetes."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Victoza for 42 days, and I've lost 19 lbs. This was my last hope by my doctor because nothing else was working. I was at my heaviest, 206 lbs. My doctor also recommended I take the pill Alli (over the counter-you can find at Walmart). So with this, I feel really good. Not like diet pills where you are good all day and then hungry all night. I do count my calories and do not eat after 6 p.m. This is the best thing with no side effects besides loss of appetite."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Victoza since Jan 9th. I am impressed with how well things are going. I was diagnosed as insulin resistant and am overweight and would like to lose 70 lbs. I have lost 20 lbs so far. I modified my diet and faithfully use a Fitbit daily to log my activity, diet, and glucose levels. I am staying on a 0.6 dose and am happy to say my glucose levels are ranging between 85 and 105. I had one day of nausea."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on it for a month and I'm up to 3ml. I had a lot of trouble during the month with eating, and I was very nauseous in the beginning. I was eating about 1-2 times a day, but that started to wear off the 2nd week at 3ml, and I'm back to 3 meals a day. I've lost 12 lbs this month, and I have to admit I was not as diligent with my nutrition and exercise as usual. If this works as well with partial doses and a diet not nearly as clean as usual, this gives me hope. Looks like I can finally reach my weight loss goals!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Was on Victoza 4 years ago and lost about 48 pounds. Had an A1C of 6.8-7.1. Switched insurances to one that didn't cover Victoza. Had to go on insulin instead, 70/30 55 units before breakfast and dinner. So I gained back 40 pounds in about 10 months. A1C has been as high as 11.2 and as low as 8.0. Have had to deal with hypoglycemia several times. Just got new insurance this month, began Victoza last Thursday, and took my insulin that day, too. Glucose dropped from high 200s average to having a 104 and a 118 that day. I haven't seen numbers like that in a couple of years! Friday, I skipped my insulin dose. Glucoses are staying in the 100s, appetite is much less, and I am INSULIN FREE, which will help in so many ways!"

For Type 2 Diabetes "Prior to taking Victoza, my glucose was like 384, 297. I changed my diet, and it went down to 234, 187, and the lowest was 166. I then started this shot 2 weeks ago on 2/9/24. Prior to taking it, I lost 14 lbs. (Starting weight 412) Since then, I’m now down 22.6. It’s like every day I’m losing a pound or so. I’ve had no side effects so far. I’m on the 1.2 dose and honestly thinking about staying right there for another week before I increase it. When I last checked my glucose, it was 101. My A1C was 10.9 when they prescribed it, so I can’t wait to see what it is in April."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Victoza for a month. I have had zero side effects. It has decreased my appetite, and it's easier for me to eat homemade salads made of spinach and chicken breast than going to Taco Bell. Immediately, I began to notice weight loss around my belly and waist area. Even my husband commented, 'Whoa baby, you've lost weight!' I started out at 0.6, but I was so excited that I immediately lost a few pounds; I was eager for more results. After 1.5 weeks, I upped the dosage to 1.2, and one week later, I upped it to 1.8. My insurance covers it very well (3 pen pack for $40). I had my one-month check-up today, and I am down 12 pounds (42 years old, 5'2; went from 174 lbs to 162). I hope the weight loss remains consistent. Goal: 130 lbs."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I suffer from thyroid, fibromyalgia, arthritis, and respiratory issues like asthma and bronchial issues, which makes it extremely hard to lose even 1 lb. I took 1.8 Victoza, and it really made me sick. No hunger whatsoever, thirsty, coughing, really cold, and the tiredness at the end of the day is terrible. I cannot sleep. So that whole week I didn't take it. I was 210 pounds, and from one day of taking it, that whole week managed to drop 9 lbs. Incredible and amazing is this. I'll suffer through awful side effects because physically the weight loss is wonderful."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Victoza about a month ago and have lost 5 lbs. I do well at the 0.6 mg dose, but when I bump it up to the 1.2 mg dose after a couple of days, the nausea is unbearable. Does this go away? I'm not sure if I should go back to 0.6 mg as I was up all night with nausea, but hey, no appetite :-)"

For Type 2 Diabetes "I was put on this medicine just 6 days ago and I feel great! Slight headaches and had nausea last night, but my most persistent symptoms are GONE! My fasting blood sugar would always creep overnight to 110 to 120 range. After my first meal, blood sugar would come under control depending on what I ate. Now on Victoza, I have seen a fasting blood sugar in the 85 to 105 range this week. As an added bonus, I lost 6 pounds in six days. Hopefully the long-term prospects are as favorable as the short-term ones have been."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I've been on Victoza for weight loss for approx 6 weeks. I was started on 0.6 the first week, 1.2 the second, and 1.8 the third. I had a touch of nausea the first two weeks but found that if I ate a small snack (carrot, apple) the nausea went away. I've lost 18 pounds so far and I feel great."

For Type 2 Diabetes "Since I have been using Victoza, my blood sugar has been great. My A1C went from 12.9 to 6.8. Before my doctor put me on Victoza, I was weighing 189 pounds. Today my weight is 140 lb, so I have lost 49 pounds. I have no side effects from this drug. Very happy my doctor put me on this drug."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Started Victoza for weight loss in July 2017. Weight 240 at 5'8'. Female, age 50. No diabetes but borderline A1C of 5.7. Obese and very physically active (long-distance bicycle tours and commutes) since just after college. Initial side effects of nausea, fatigue, and burping subsided after 2 weeks. After 6 months, I had lost 40+ pounds, so I was under 200 lbs for the first time since college. Often had to remind myself to eat. I found that simple carbs in the morning sabotaged the meds. Doctor put me on metformin for additional appetite control. After trying different doses and types, what works for me is 1.8 Victoza in the morning and 500 mg metformin ER with each meal. Lost another 10 lbs. For the past year, my weight has fluctuated from 187-194. It's amazing to not be hungry and not be obese. I'm still 20 lbs overweight, but A1C down consistently to 5.4 and lipids much better (I also take a statin)."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I was worried this would not work for me since I was not really that overweight (6'2-206). I began working out 5 times a week and was losing weight, but only a very small amount, and I was hitting a wall. Once I began using Victoza and continuing my workout routine, the weight just started shedding right off. This was everything I always dreamed of. You will lose some weight just by taking this, but if you include it with working out, wow! Also, it does curb your appetite, but I have noticed you can eat healthier things without feeling ill. It seems that high sugar and fats are the ones that I get turned off to, which is just an added bonus. 1 month into it and I am now 186 lbs, so I have lost 20 pounds and feel and look great!"

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I have been on Victoza since February 15, and to date, I have lost 41 pounds. I am 57 years old. I did not have a lot of the side effects that the medicine can cause. I try to eat high in protein, lower in carbs and sugar. That seems to work for me. I treat myself once a week to ice cream or something of that nature. I still have a lot of pounds to go, but I feel so much better. I have fibromyalgia and diabetes. My goal is to get off metformin and manage through diet and exercise. Much love, everyone."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Victoza 8 days ago. When I started Victoza, I weighed 212 lbs. So far, I have lost 10 lbs, and I didn't even exercise. I did feel nauseous for the first 2 days, and constipated. Also, I have no appetite."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "Just finished my first week at 0.6 and was quite ill all week. Headache and nausea being the main symptoms along with mild fever and lack of energy... But I'm down 7 lbs! No wonder though, I hardly ate. I'm a little nervous about upping the dose to 1.2 tomorrow as I'm just starting to feel better, but I'll give it a shot. If I find it's too much too quick, I will go back to 0.6 for a while longer until my body can tolerate it more. Even though I was sick, the 7 lbs lost in that first week was worth it and gave me that boost I needed. I feel motivated now."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I started with Bydureon at first for about a month and started having lumps at the injection sites, so the doctor switched me to Victoza. For the first 2 weeks, I had a lot of nausea but after that, it leveled out, and I started feeling great. So after 3 months, I have lost 52 pounds! My appetite has decreased, and for the first time, I can eat a small portion and feel full. No more cravings immediately after I finish eating. I love this medication. My blood sugar levels have been between 89-94."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I started Victoza many months ago. In the beginning, I was doing great with losing weight, and my blood sugar readings were very good! After a few months, it all stopped, and I started gaining it all back. So now my blood sugar readings are back up, and I have gained all the 20 lbs. back. The Victoza doesn’t seem to be working at all now."

For Weight Loss (Obesity/Overweight) "I am 37 years old, 5'5'. My starting weight on September 20, 2018, was 233.7 lbs. I have had 3 femoral and tibial osteotomies over the last 3 years. This has made exercise very difficult and extremely painful. Hence the recommendation of Victoza by my physician and surgeon. Since starting 8 days ago at 0.6 mg, I have lost 11.5 lbs, bringing me to 222.2 lbs. I increased to 1.2 mg yesterday. I feel very successful. Symptoms-They haven't been unmanageable but sometimes more noticeable than others. Dry mouth, weird feeling tongue, nausea, heartburn, and lack of appetite. But, I've found peppermint tea helps with all of the symptoms. I'm going to keep going to reach my goal of 80 lbs lost."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I have officially been on Victoza for more than a year. I currently take the highest dose of 1.8, along with Metformin daily. My A1C is finally normal at 5.0 - my sugars are never higher than 7.0 (even after meals). I've yet to ever experience an episode of hypoglycemia. After a year, there are 45 lbs less of me, and my desire to be active and healthy again has returned. I will encourage those that Victoza alone is not solely the answer. I have family members who also went on Victoza, did not follow diet, exercise, and portion control, and the drug only made them feel worse and had no effects. I personally found Victoza to be a great tool in combination with portion, diet, and exercise to truly be the answer I'd been waiting for! Worth a try if you are serious."

For Type 2 Diabetes "I've been on Victoza now for just over 2 years. From reading the reviews, I'm one of the lucky ones side-effect-wise. In other words, no nausea, increased headaches, etc. I started at 0.6, and after a month, moved up to 1.2, where I have been since that time. I reduced my adjunct Metformin from 1500 mg daily to 1000 mg daily. Weight loss has been a nice side effect, especially since it impacts the illness in the first place. The only issue I have now is that my blood sugar can go low quite easily, so I will be cutting back the dose to 0.6 for a test run of a month. Unhealthy high levels of blood sugar are a thing of the past. Hopefully, that stays the same at 0.6."
