"I have IBS with constipation. My GI started me on Amitiza, which worked great for 3 or 4 months, then I started having constipation again, but without the extreme cramps. He gave me Linzess 145, which also worked great for a couple of months, then not so much. I had a colonoscopy and upper GI, which all came back normal except for an irritated stomach. I've been on Linzess 290 now for several months, and it still works, but the way it works affects my daily plans. It may just work too well. I have very watery movements about 3 times every morning, and because of this, I can't leave the house before noon. I haven't had a solid stool for months. Good thing I'm a stay-at-home mom! Taking this every other day might make things better."

"No one can really figure out what's going on, so I've been 'diagnosed' with IBS-C/CIC. I eat clean, work out regularly, and drink (water) like a fish! Multiple MRI scans and a CT scan always just show me backed up. The only thing I can think of is incredibly sluggish bowels. Possibly from IBS or recently confirmed Lyme disease (and multiple rounds of antibiotics creating some kind of gut dysbiosis) messing with my gut motility/MMC. Doctor recommended trying this. I can honestly say I haven't felt worse! It worked the first few times; felt like a good cleanout and that complete evacuation feeling, but now my guts have taken a turn for the worse! Severe cramps when I use it and no sense of evacuation at all. Weak caliber. I'm not sure if this is also Linzess, but mentally I've not felt 100% right either. I've stopped taking it; I felt 'better' before I started using it! Everyone is different, it may work for you, but for me, definitely a no!"

"Well, well... let's just say if you have IBS like me and you go days of using the bathroom constantly, then several days of not using it at all, with constant bloating after meals for hours... then this is the stuff you need. I have been on this for 5 months, and my life has changed drastically! I no longer complain of bloat because this will clear you out. It is almost like anything I put in my mouth automatically triggers my gut to gotta go to the potty. Sometimes 5 or 6 times a day, sometimes once or twice. And it is not solid, but I'll take what I can get. Thank you, creators of Linzess. But warning... If you don't have strong muscles, this might not be the best drug for you. And if you can't run... you will need depends."

"I've had severe chronic constipation with irritable bowel syndrome for about 20 years. When the IBS flares up, triggered by the constipation, it's debilitating for about two days. Fiber, laxatives, gallons of water never helped. I just learned about Linzess from my doctor this week after the IBS had me right down in bed near a toilet. I have been on it for about 4 days now, and I feel a bit of churning in my belly, but I'm still straining to have a bowel movement, and my stool is still hard. I'm hoping that will change with a few more doses! Based on the reviews, people respond differently to this medicine. My insurance covers the medicine, but I'm in a high deductible plan, so I had to pay out of pocket...ouch...very expensive."

"I have been taking Linzess for the past 2 months. I love it!! I do not suffer from IBS or constipation anymore. I take as directed and it works perfectly. I must note that I have to take hydrochlorothiazide for high blood pressure. The Linzess did not work when I took the diuretic. I drank and drank water and all it did was make me pee. I have noticed less bloating and water retention since I took the Linzess. I try not to take the diuretic unless I need it. The Linzess has given me a better quality of life!! Love it!!!"

"Medicine is absolutely horrible. Had gallbladder removed in 2019. Stomach has been extremely bloated to the point of not being able to wear my normal clothes! Embarrassing walking around having a stomach so bloated. Used to take Zelnorm for my IBS-C till it was taken off the market. Zelnorm was way better than this medicine. Linzess needs to be taken off the market. Bowel movements are pure liquid coming out. Can’t make plans to go anywhere. Always feel so weak. Back pain is unreal. Stomach just gargles. Zelnorm helped reduce the bloating, Linzess adds to it. Plus, Linzess drains the pocket. Zelnorm 90-day mail-in used to be way less than Linzess at 80.00 co-pay per month. Praying they bring back Zelnorm!!"

"This medication has provided constipation relief. I have been taking it for a year. I have followed the directions of taking the medicine 30 minutes before breakfast. My experience has been that if I don't make it a point to go to the restroom within 30 minutes after breakfast, I won't be able to release. I'll be bloated all day. I noticed this when I found myself preoccupied at work and realized that I had forgotten to use the restroom. I have been having my breakfast and making it a point to go to the restroom within 15 minutes, and it has been great. I do get bloating and some cramping after eating lunch. I wish I could use the restroom after every meal, though."

"This is a miracle pill. I take 290 mcg every day. I have suffered with Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Constipation for years. It was making my life miserable. I had terrible attacks at least once a month. This medicine cleans me completely out. Cost is an obstacle for many. I'm on the patient assistance program, they send me my medicine at zero cost to me. I love Linzess."

"I have been taking Linzess for one month, and for the first time ever, I feel like I can have a normal life. I have suffered with irritable bowel syndrome for 35 years, and it has controlled my life. I have diarrhea for a few hours after taking it, but feel great the rest of the day. I am so excited, but just wish my insurance would cover this new medicine that has saved my quality of life!"

"After suffering most of my life from all the issues related to irritable bowel syndrome, gas, diarrhea, chronic constipation, I have finally found I have a normal life with little or no gas, no more constipation, and rare loose stools. But for anyone who has ever suffered from constipation, having loose stools is a welcome trade-off. Thank you, Linzess."

"Have suffered from chronic IBS with constipation for 35 years. Nothing has ever helped. I would go up to two weeks with no bowel movements, spending hours on the toilet for relief, which usually involved severe cramping that caused vomiting and passing out. I started Linzess almost a year ago. It has changed my life. I started with taking it every other day as soon as you wake up! Then you can function normally through the day. If you take it any other time, it can cause diarrhea. If you want a good cleansing, then take it with food in the AM. My body has adjusted now, and I need to take it every day. What I've noticed lately is that it's not as effective anymore. I'm worried that after long-term use, it will no longer be effective."

"First week with Linzess: (continued) Other notes: Bloating: yes, within 30 minutes of taking a pill, I can visually see my abdomen expand as Linzess causes the intestines to increase production of fluids. I don’t have that awful bloated feeling that you would suffer through with a bout of colitis, this bloating is pain-free for me. But visually, you will be surprised until the BM occurs. Once finished, the bloating is gone, and I feel better than I have in years the rest of the day. Timing of taking the pill: I have not figured this out at all. I may try bedtime next. No abdominal pain is liberating! I'll report more later!"

"I have a tortured colon and IBS, and nothing worked for me. Been on Linzess for close to a year now, and it makes me feel like a normal person! It's a miracle drug. I have zero side effects and none of that sick stomach I used to always have either from laxatives or from needing to go. I feel like I have a new lease on life. I just hope it continues to work for me. The only downside is the cost. I have great insurance (federal BC/BS), and I still pay roughly $2 a day to be able to have regular, pain-free BMs. Totally worth it to me!"

"I have been suffering on and off for the last 7 years with IBS... Drs., hospitals, ultrasounds, copious quantities of ANY laxative, stool softeners, etc. Once my upper intestines are backed up under my rib cage, NOTHING works and I start packing on the lbs. Then I tried Linzess. It adds moisture to the upper intestine, which when I took it Monday, I was 175. I went to the bathroom about 6 ish times after about 5 hrs. By Tuesday, I was down to 165, completely cleaned out! I also took full responsibility not to eat ANYTHING that would irritate my tummy. I took Linzess the next 3 days, but nothing happened. I believe it is for the upper intestine area, and because mine is 100% better, I don't need it. Thank goodness I now have a weapon against IBS."

"I have been using Linzess for about 1-2 years. Since I thought it was great at first, but now I'm having pain and trouble with my kidneys. Also, weight gain and wondered why some days I am so bloated and nauseous. My doctor was sure he was aware of my kidney stones. Why is this still on the market with all these side effects? I also have cramps in my legs and buttocks. I have so many stomach issues I don't need anymore. Doesn't make sense, does it?"

"I started on Linzess in April 2015. I thought it was my miracle drug, but it seems to have stopped working as well, and I have severe bloating/abdominal distention. To make matters worse, I've gained weight. Not water weight either. I work out and eat low carb, but since starting Linzess, the scale is going up. It looks as though I'm not the only one. Linzess needs to list potential weight gain as a side effect. But why would they do that? It's all about sales."

"I tried this new medicine from my doctor's sample. 290 once a day. It worked the first time within one hour from swallowing. I usually have a movement once a week, I had fourteen movements that one day. Unfortunately, they became all water after the first couple. I took the following couple of days off to get rehydrated and then tried it again. I think I am on my tenth movement in three hours from taking. The pill did take away my pain and cramps, but I had to cancel my plans for the day. But it is well worth not having the pain and cramps of constipation."

"I started taking Linzess 3 weeks ago for IBS-C. I have suffered with IBS since I was 18 or so. If I didn't take anything over the counter, I could go 4-5 days without a movement. My Dr. gave me the starting dose, which had little effect for me. Once he called in the 290 mg, I can't believe the difference. Sure, I've had a couple of headaches and bloating, but it has been a Godsend to me. No diarrhea for me at all. I am going every day, sometimes more than once a day, and have actually lost 5 lbs. I am also surprised to see when people say they've experienced rapid weight gain because I've experienced the exact opposite. Glad I didn't read those reviews before starting!"

"I have been using Linzess for over a week. I had a lot of success with Resotran for three years until it stopped working. I was back to being bloated/distended and constipated. I also gained weight when I noticed that the meds were not working any longer. I was miserable. I did some research and realized that Linzess was available and covered under my insurance plan. My doctor gave me a prescription and I finally found relief again! All the reviews I read made me a little nervous, but it's not as bad as I thought. It does clean you out! I take the meds in the morning 1/2 hour before I eat, and within 2-3 hours I have at least three bowel movements. My bloating/distension has improved, and I lost weight. I hope it continues to work!"

"If you're taking samples currently, please read this. I have to love and hate this medicine. Pros: It does what it says it does. It makes you go! It doesn't give you full-on diarrhea if you take it every few days. Just soft stools, which is a great thing! Cons: You cannot take this medication every day, no matter what the doctor tells you. Maybe it's my body or something, but I can promise you, your body will soon reject the medication if taken every day for more than 5 days. If continued in such a fashion, you will bloat, cramp, and become MORE constipated than before. It will plug you up FOR REAL. It's not strong enough to make you go a lot the next day if you need it. Take a weak laxative with it. Still, the best IBS/Constipation meds I've found."

"I'm 65, have suffered from Irritable Bowel Syndrome-Constipation my entire adult life. Have taken 145 mcg dose of Linzess off and on since the middle of August 2013. The longest stretch I have taken it for is 12 days. I was also taking Align, but discontinued it during the 12-day Linzess experiment so I could evaluate the Linzess objectively, and got horrible trapped gas and splenic flexure syndrome for my troubles. I resumed the Align, which has been a blessing, and now do Linzess every second or third day. The Linzess is a very effective laxative, although it will give you at least one or two bouts of diarrhea every time. But without the Align, it seems to aggravate the abdominal pain and bloating, NOT alleviate it. Align is more effective for gut pain."

"I have suffered from irritable bowel syndrome-constipation for 16 years, and I had tried just about everything on the market. I finally gave up, and after a few years of having nothing, my new doctor gave me Linzess. I was sure it would be like most of the others, but it worked right away and has continued to work for 3 months. I love it. Thank you to the pharmaceutical company for this product. My bloating and bad cramps have gone away. I did have to change how I take it, it says to take 30 minutes before I eat, but I take it after I have eaten some of my meal because it seems to work better. I will say that you must be near a bathroom when the urge to go hits because you can't hold off."

"Overall, this medication works for me. I tried Amitiza and had flu-like symptoms. Linzess is best for me. Every day is different. I only take it if I know I will have access to a toilet. I need access pretty much the entire morning. There are times when I don't go a lot, but that's okay. There are times when I literally pee out my bottom. I have dealt with constipation for most of my life, and I am thankful for this medication. I use the $30 rebate they have. It's not a scam. I got a check in the mail. Drink lots of water with this product. I also do a bowl massage every night when I lay down for bed. This helps. I do the 90-day supply with my insurance. I only pay $100 for 90 days. Then I turn in the receipt to Linzess for the rebate."

"IBS-C my entire adult life (44-yr-old female). I have done it all - tried everything natural and prescribed. I cut out dairy, gluten, red meat... was drinking prune juice, using Fleet supps almost daily, NEVER having a decent or 'normal' BM. My GI doc gave me samples of Linzess yesterday; I took it this morning, and exactly one hour later: WHA-LA. A 'perfect' BM!!! NO cramps. NO diarrhea. If you have trouble going, please try this. I am absolutely thrilled! Not sure what my insurance will cover, but I don't even care - this is my miracle pill, and it is going to make a huge difference in my life."

"I'm 19 and was recently diagnosed with IBS. It was a daily battle with the excruciating pain that would double me over, sweating. I would get a fever from the pain and almost pass out on a daily basis. I tried everything for months and nothing would work. I drank 2 gallons of colonoscopy prep before my colonoscopy, and I still wasn't cleared out. I started Linzess, and within 2 days, I was completely gone of symptoms. Linzess changed my life, and I can be a normal college student again. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE IT AT LEAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOU EAT. If you don't, that's when you will experience diarrhea. I would recommend this pill to anyone. The pill is worth the money."
