For Birth Control "I got this birth control thinking it would be the best one for me. I’ve tried the shot and the pills and wasn’t a fan, but at least with those, I didn’t have nearly as many problems. Since getting the IUD four months ago, I have been experiencing pain. Turns out I have a cyst in my right ovary, pelvic inflammatory disease, and countless yeast infections. I feel nauseous all the time with back pain. I wish I never got it."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted a few days ago, and the pain of the insertion was like no pain I've ever felt before, even if it did only last about five minutes. The cramps I'm having now are so intense, and nothing seems to alleviate them - not Advil or a heating pad. I didn't bleed at all, just a bit of liquidy discharge. Despite all of the pain and intense cramping, I'm hopeful that it'll be better than the pill."

For Birth Control "I'm eighteen, and I got my Liletta IUD in this morning. My doctor was very efficient and experienced. She advised me to take deep breaths and do my very best not to tense up. The measurement and insertion were painful, like an extremely bad cramp. I found myself biting my lip with tears flowing, though it only lasted a minute. It’s not too bad as long as you breathe. I didn’t even take Tylenol before my appointment (we were all out), but make sure you eat before you go as advised. When it was done, I was left to rest and get up and dress on my own when I pleased. The process wasn’t too bad. I’ll update in a few months. If I can do it, so can anyone else, us women are strong. It’s only a minute and lasts for years."

For Birth Control "The insertion was pretty painful. I only had ibuprofen beforehand. They gave me nothing else, and I've had no children. I was nauseous and crampy afterwards and had to lie down before going home. I had light spotting for a week, then it stopped. I thought I lucked out, wrong. I had slightly over a week with no bleeding, then it never stopped. I've had spotting every day since for over two weeks. Today it got heavier, like a period. The reasons I switched to an IUD (I was on the pill) are because I have digestive issues that may interfere with the pill, and I had some very light spotting in between, which the doctor said the IUD may help. I've never bled more in my life. I know it's supposed to subside after 3-6 months, but reading the other reviews, someone still got pregnant, and bleeding isn't predictable like with the pill. What's the point? Mine is also good for 7 years."

For Birth Control "I got Liletta inserted December 1st, and since then, it has been a really pleasant experience! My biggest reason for getting an IUD was to regulate my super heavy and painful periods. The insertion was pretty painful (I even have a high pain tolerance), and I felt sick for about a day afterward, but since then, it’s been great. My period comes as scheduled every month. It’s much lighter and a lot less painful. However, it does last longer. My periods used to be 2-3 days, and now they are 4-6. Overall, I am really loving this IUD."

For Birth Control "Today (6/21/17) I went into Planned Parenthood where I scheduled a change in birth control. From the Depo shot to Liletta. The Depo shot has so many side effects that I had been dealing with for 3+ years now, so I was ready for a change. I go in expecting to get Liletta when the doctor tells me they don't carry it anymore but that Liletta was pretty much the exact same. Another option was, I believe, Skyla. I haven't had a period in 3 years being on the Depo shot and wanted to keep it that way, which was why I wanted Liletta. Many women end up not having one at all. She told me with Skyla I would have a period for sure, but with Liletta there was a possibility I wouldn't. Getting it inserted was the worst pain I've ever endured in my life. Honestly."

For Birth Control "I have had the Liletta for almost a year now. I love it so much. I was so scared to get it because of the reviews I read about how painful it is. But I didn't experience any pain at all when they put it in. I didn't even get the cramps afterward. I spotted for a couple of days and that was it. I have 1 child, had her in September, and got the IUD in March."

For Birth Control "For the first 3.5 months of Liletta, my life was hell because of the cramping and pain that I experienced due to the IUD, but I stuck it out to see if it would get better, as doctors and the internet told me it would. The cramping did get less frequent, but a year later, every time I get my period (every 2-3 months), it’s still extremely painful for the first two days, to the point I get a fever and am throwing up. The pain that I experienced due to Liletta was worse than the contractions I had during childbirth. This IUD also gave me the worst skin of my entire life. There hasn’t been a time when I didn't have at least one zit. I have never before had cystic acne before this IUD, but now I am infested with it all over my face, back, and shoulders. Overall, my experience was not great on Liletta, but I still highly recommend it. When I’m not on my period, it is a dream, which is why I have had it for almost 2 years, even with these complications. It’s a great birth control, just not the right one for me."

For Birth Control "Okay, so as with most reviews I've read so far, my experience with the Liletta is very bad. I had my IUD placed on Feb 19, 2017, so currently on month 4. Insertion was slightly painful and bled an extra week since it was placed on the last day of my period. Since having it, my period comes and lasts 17-20 days and will be heavy. Then, if we have sex, I begin spotting and have severe cramps, even pain in certain areas. My doctor asked me to at least give it 6 months for my body to adjust, but at this point, symptoms are not getting better at all, so I'm most likely going to have it removed at month 6. This has been a major inconvenience and painful experience so far, but on the plus side, no pregnancy so far, so at least it's doing what it's supposed to. Lmao."

For Birth Control "The Liletta perforated through my uterus within 6 months. I had to have surgery to get it removed, $3,000+ and extreme pain. Luckily, it was just wedged between my ovary and uterus because a concern was it could puncture an organ or bowel."

For Birth Control "After I quit breastfeeding my daughter, my period came back too heavy, it was unbearable. My doctor talked me into the Liletta to control and lighten my cycle. First of all, the insertion was so painful! Since then, I’ve been bleeding for 30+ days, taken 17 days' worth of progesterone to stop my bleeding, and nothing. In constant pain and always feel exhausted. I'm hoping to get it taken out ASAP!"

For Birth Control "My review is on the insertion of Liletta IUD. I'm a big chicken and I flinch getting a pap smear, so the idea of getting an IUD put inside of my closed cervix sounded painful. I read many reviews and was scared of the pain, but when I was reminded of the pain of childbirth, that fear was overcame because I don't want any more children at this time. I am six weeks postpartum from having my 3rd child, which was delivered by c-section this time around. My experience was good, the most uncomfortable part was the tool used to open my vagina. Other than the mild discomfort from the tool to open me up, I felt a pinch like the doctor said and a little pressure, and voila, it was done. I was surprised at the fact that I didn't experience any pain."

For Birth Control "I had Liletta inserted the 15th of January 2016. The insertion was a bit painful, but quick. Since insertion, maybe two light spells of cramps. I did bleed and am still bleeding, but very light. I'm supposed to start my first period within three days, waiting to see how that will be. I have had NO weight gain, food cravings, or nausea. I absolutely LOVE Liletta! The only concern I had was whether its effectiveness was immediate or if you had to use a backup method for seven days. I was on the pill prior to insertion, and my IUD was inserted on the 5th day of my period."

For Birth Control "I chose Liletta because it’s free at Planned Parenthood, and I wanted hassle-free birth control. Turns out it was a bigger hassle than the pill that I was on before this, so I will be returning to the pill. Insertion was excruciatingly painful, and the pain lasted for a couple of months after. They didn't do anything to numb me for insertion. I talked to my doctor about how I was having pain doing mundane activities like walking a month later, and she scheduled me for an ultrasound. I developed an ovarian cyst that will require surgery (12% of women will develop a cyst with an IUD. I was never told this before insertion.) So what was free to insert will cost me thousands of dollars in the long run. Sex is now painful in most positions and causes me to bleed. My partner’s getting a vasectomy, and I’m going back to the pill for menstrual pain. I felt like a guinea pig when I got an IUD, and I’ll end up forking out thousands of dollars because it didn’t work out."

For Birth Control "9/2016 right after I gave birth I had the Liletta in, and within a day or two, I wasn't bleeding, it completely stopped. Then, five plus months later, I started bleeding heavily for like a month. I asked friends and even doctors, my body is trying to adjust still after 45 days. I felt ill and exhausted from the loss of blood, then to find out my IUD fell out! They did more testing before insertion of a new one during that time and the appointments. I was denied a replacement because, well, I was pregnant! After I had my second child, they replaced it sometime in February 2018. I've had no more periods since, no pregnancies, now just extreme pain inside my vaginal area around my uterus. I have an infection on my uterus, a UTI, on two antibiotics and need a vaginal ultrasound to try to find my IUD because they can't find it, can't feel the strings, or even sure it hasn't taken its own route. I hurt inside like nails dragging and scratching inside. I have no sex drive because of the pain, and if I give in and have sex, I have blood on my toilet paper when I wipe."

For Birth Control "I feel like I must share my experience, but remember every woman is different! The insertion, from the scale of 1-10, was a 9, and I have never had kids before; I am a 23-year-old female. I have never in my entire life experienced pain such as this, and that's with surgery before. Spotting and cramping after the procedure that Vicodin didn't help at all! I was told the cramping and spotting would continue for a week, so I waited and suffered. My sex drive diminished; I have been breaking out everywhere: back, neck, chest, face, and shoulders. The cramps are NOT normal period cramps; this was intense 8.2 pain cramps that 1200 mg of Advil barely helped! I put a heat pack on, and nothing helped. Getting this removed ASAP!"

For Birth Control "I was on Ortho Cyclen for over 15 years. I am 38 and was pushed to an IUD by a family planning clinic, which I'd been considering but wasn't sure. They only carried Liletta for $600, so I went with that. They didn't tell me to take any meds beforehand, but I had taken 7.5 mg oxycodone and 100 mg tramadol (I have spine issues). At the office, they gave me 800 mg ibuprofen right before. I have had 2 kids (12 years ago), am very petite, and this pain was WAY worse than labor or childbirth. I almost fainted and begged her to stop. They did not give me any instructions on checking the IUD and acted like I was being dramatic. Had I known how painful it would be, I would have never done it! EXCRUCIATING. If the cramps don't go away, I'm getting it out!"

For Birth Control "I found this page after having the Liletta inserted, and I was mortified! I’ve never seen so many bad reviews I almost cried. The insertion was painful, which I expected. I felt super dizzy and nauseous, I actually had to stay there for an hour after insertion. I had bad cramps and was bloated for 2.5 weeks. I was getting to the point where I was so uncomfortable. I was going to give it a month, and if it didn’t get better, I was going to get it taken out. 2.5 weeks later, the bloating and cramps went away. I haven’t stopped bleeding, but I don’t mind bleeding for a few months if that means I don’t have to worry about birth control for 8 years! I think it just takes time for your body to adjust, but so far, so good."

"I had two Mirena IUDs in the past, and they worked great. Went in for a third, and the NP switched it up to Liletta with zero notice. She told me it was just like Mirena. Wrong! It was a nightmare from minute one. The insertion and pain afterward were so unbearable that I was cramping and vomiting. I never stopped bleeding after insertion. The rage that this device caused was nothing I have ever experienced before, and it had me terrified. I would not recommend this device to anyone!!! The patient shouldn’t have products pushed on them because they are cheaper!"
