For Birth Control "I got the Liletta on March 14, 2017, after I gave birth to my first child on January 21. The procedure was very quick, like 5 minutes, but the pain I have experienced since doesn't seem to be worth it. I have spotted every single day since I got it, which I hate because I don't like sleeping wearing panties sometimes, but I have to wear a pad 24/7 now and have bad uterine cramps. My uterus sits to the back, so I also get bad back pains as well. Every time I go to the ER, they do an ultrasound and say everything looks fine. The strings are very long out of my cervix, and I've had discomfort during sexual intercourse almost every single time. Seems to be effective for preventing pregnancy so far. Just a lot of complications to adjust your body to."

For Birth Control "I got this IUD inserted 6 months ago, back in October 2018. I will admit it was a tad painful with insertion, but it went smooth, and I was out of the office within 10 mins of insertion. I did have a few months of spotting midway between periods, as my doctor said would happen. My periods were always super heavy and long, and now they are much lighter, about 5/6 days long, and I’m not really noticing any PMS symptoms. I am also in prep for my next bodybuilding competition and have no issues losing weight for my show. I train 6 days a week and just increased cardio to 6 times a week and lost 2 lbs in one week, so weight gain isn’t an issue for me. I do notice acne, but I always broke out during my period, so it’s not different than before. So far, I’m loving my experience with this Liletta IUD. I already have kids and don’t want any more, so now I know I’m good for another 6.5 years! Still waiting to completely stop having periods, tho, lol. Major selling point!"

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta put in at my 6-week post-natal appointment in March 2018. The pain was so bad that I fainted at the checkout desk on my way out! Shortly after insertion, I started having 2 periods a month and constant cramping. My stomach also felt so bloated all the time, enough so that at 9 months postpartum, I was asked twice if I was pregnant again! I also had zero sex drive, sex was uncomfortable, and I just felt angry all the time when I’m normally a really positive person. Also, in the 6 months of having it, I almost gained all my baby weight back and couldn’t lose weight for the life of me. I could not figure out what was happening! Due to the cramping, I decided to have it removed and just happened to look at these reviews around the same time. I am 99% sure all my symptoms were due to Liletta. Since removal, my bloating is gone, I’m down 5 lbs, my sex drive is back, and I just feel happy again. I think I’m done with hormonal birth control!"

For Birth Control "I got Liletta inserted on January 10th at 2 pm. The pain from the scale of 1-10 was a 9.7. I never had kids, no abortions. I swore out loud when I had this inserted. It wasn't a pain I ever felt before, and that's having 3 tattoos and piercings, as well as wisdom teeth surgery and a cyst removal on my shoulder. This was PAIN. The serious pain, though, lasted I would say 2-3 minutes. After was serious cramping like I've never had before. The next 2-3 days was spotting brown and weird colors, I don't know. The cramping was INTENSE. I don't normally have bad cramps on my period, but holy cow, these cramps had me on the floor, on the couch, on the bed curled up in a ball... It's the 16th of January, and I feel SO much better! No cramps or bloating! :)"

For Birth Control "I’ve had the Liletta for almost 2 months now. Insertion was incredibly painful, even with pain medication, and I almost passed out. Cramps subsided after a couple of days. I spotted for the first few days, and then I didn’t get my period for over a month. When I finally got it, it lasted over seven days, when mine were normally three. The week leading up, I ended up having a cyst that ruptured, which was incredibly painful. I’ve been incredibly moody, and my anxiety is at an all-time high. I will get random spurts of unexplained nausea, sex is painful, my libido is lower, and I have a lot of pelvic pain. I’m giving this another month to see how my next cycle goes, and if no improvement, I’m getting this awful device out!"

For Birth Control "It's almost 2 am in Florida. This is how much I hate Liletta. I've had it for a month and have never been in so much pain in my entire life. I've been up all night vomiting, my period is that bad with it. The cramps are knock-the-wind-out-of-you bad. I never experienced this with Paragard. I'm getting it removed next week. I will literally sit at the office if they don't give me an appointment, and I'll refuse to leave until this is out of me. I've never been in consistent pain like this. The mood swings are for the birds too."

For Birth Control "I decided to write this review so other women can really research before having an IUD inserted. Tomorrow will be a week since my IUD insertion. The insertion was painful and awful. First, Liletta inserted fell off, and then I had another put in. My pain never ceased. I have been bloated since insertion, plus I have the urge to urinate often. I had it inserted on a Thursday. Since my doctor told me the pain would last a couple of days, I decided to wait it out, but the past weekend was July 4th. To top it off, my doctor wasn't there yesterday. Today (Wednesday), I finally went in. The IUD was nowhere to be found. I was sent for an X-ray, and sure enough, it looks like it either perforated my bladder or uterus. I'm scheduled for surgery in 12 hours."

For Birth Control "I just had a baby. At my 6-week appointment, my midwife inserted the Liletta. My husband and I don’t want any more kids, so I decided the IUD would be best until he can get a vasectomy. It was very painful for the first couple of days, but that passed. My husband and I had sex after it had been in for about 2.5 weeks, and there was no pain. At 4 weeks, I started having pain in my lower left abdomen. It got pretty bad, so I went back to see the midwife the next day. They did an ultrasound and vaginal exam. There was nothing in the ultrasound, but because I was in so much pain, they put me on 3 different antibiotics. She was treating me for PID. I do not have an STD, which is how most people get PID. The midwife said that I should be much better by the next week. I was not. I was in less pain, but still experiencing much more than I should. They did everything again and decided to remove the IUD. This was my first IUD. I would not choose to go through this again. The pain and hassle are not worth it."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta IUD inserted in February 2019. I am happy to say that as of June 19, 2019, it has been removed. The insertion was slightly painful, and the removal was just a quick, sharp pain, which was tolerable. I experienced bleeding every day except two weeks from the time of insertion. The last 4 weeks were the worst. It is great birth control because you are bleeding so much you don't want to have sex. It did help with the excessive cramping I experienced during my menstrual cycle prior to the insertion. It took me from heavy bleeding once a month (prior to insertion) to spotting daily (after insertion), which went to brown, then red, then to light bleeding. The last straw was when I started bleeding daily for almost 4 weeks. Unfortunately, two days after removal, it is like I have started my period again with heavy bleeding and clotting. I am just glad it is out of there. Good luck, ladies!"

For Birth Control "I had this inserted in October 2016. Doctor assured me it would be easy and painless since I just had a baby. It was the worst experience of my life, I almost passed out from the pain. After about 20 minutes, he finally got it. It's now 8 months later, and I get my period 3 weeks out of the month, I have a break for 1 week, and it's back. Before getting my period, I get extremely depressed, my mood swings are terrible. I have terrible cramping the whole time my period is here. I was hoping after a few months my period would become lighter, or at this point just back to normal, but it seems to be getting worse. The only good thing I can say about this birth control is that I have not become pregnant."

For Birth Control "I've had 2 c-sections and zero natural births, so my doctor prepared me by letting me know that the entrance to my uterus (cervical oss) was that of a woman that has never had children. So I could experience more pain than usual. The insertion was a bit uncomfortable (not really any pain), but after 3 hours and some Motrin, it was completely gone. I really think it depends on the provider inserting the Liletta if you experience pain. It's interesting to me to hear some people had the worst pain in their life while others had just a few hours of cramping. To me, it just shows it's not the Liletta, it's the person inserting it."

For Birth Control "I got my Liletta nearly four months ago to the day (12/8/16). Despite a rough start, things seem to be leveling out now, and I'm pretty pleased with it. Insertion definitely hurt, but if you take some ibuprofen prior to it, the pain shouldn't leave you too miserable. I already had really heavy, painful periods, so my first period on it was a special sort of hell. I also had weird, intermittent spotting and cramping for the first 2-3 months, but by March, things started to lighten up. Cramps can now be treated with an in-pants heating pad, and my flow is but a trickle. I reckon my period will stop altogether within the next few months. If you can tough out the rough start, it's worth it! Doesn't last as long as the others, but still gets it done!"

For Birth Control "I'm 26, never had kids. My doctor proposed an IUD as an 'easier' alternative to a hysterectomy. Honestly? With the amount of pain and bleeding I have experienced, it would have been better to just get the hysto. The insertion was EXTREMELY painful. I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but I was literally screaming with tears flowing down my face during insertion. I then had debilitating, truly debilitating cramps that 24/7 max dose ibuprofen couldn't ease. I was in bed from the pain for about 2 weeks. It's now been another 3 weeks (so about 5 weeks post-insertion), and the pain has subsided, but I have literally been bleeding nonstop since insertion. The constant pain and blood have made sex basically impossible. I'm also extremely exhausted and depressed. Liletta is wrecking my life. They say to wait 3 months to give your body time to adjust, but if things aren't way better by then, I'm just going to have this removed."

For Birth Control "I got the Liletta IUD about 3 years ago. Now, while I’m told anyone who gets an IUD who’s never had kids has more pain than ones who have had kids, I never expected it to be as bad as it was. I almost passed out, I was in severe pain for days. Eventually, when it went away, I didn’t have an issue with its effectiveness. However, randomly once a month I would have the worst cramps, I became more emotional than I had ever been. I gained around 70 lbs, and I tried every diet imaginable to try and lose weight, and nothing worked. And when it was getting close to the time when it needed to come out, I was having even worse cramps and spotting randomly. It worked for the fact that I didn’t get pregnant and didn’t have a period, but everything else was terrible. So I’m giving it a 5 because while it works, it’s not worth it."

For Birth Control "I'm 34 with no children. Insertion was quite painful. I took tramadol before the procedure, and it was still pretty painful-but the whole procedure only took about a minute. I cramped pretty bad for the first 2 days-had to take ibuprofen around the clock. It wasn't normal cramps, more like an intense shooting pain. Now, 5 weeks later, everything is great. If I had to have another inserted, I would ask for pain Rx to take before the insertion."

For Birth Control "Update. I love this IUD. My husband only felt it once, which was the only issue I had with it. Then, after that one time, nothing was felt. I only spotted when wiping the first 2 weeks, then it stopped completely altogether. I also did not have any pain with the insertion. However, I was 6 weeks postpartum, so that could have played a huge role. I have had it for 3 months now, and it is the best."

For Birth Control "I got this IUD inserted immediately. My period started in October, it was so painful, but I guess I have a low pain threshold. Anyway, my only problem with this is I basically bled from the time I got it inserted, some days heavy, other days spotting, with cramps that I have never had before (and I have never had kids) till my next period. It was after that period that all cramps and spotting stopped. So far, so good. I think I am supposed to be having my period now, but I'm barely even spotting, I just have mild cramps. For the three months I have had it in, I can say minus the first rough month, I am really loving it... so convenient. And I haven’t gained any weight or had any acne problems. Aside from the occasional cramps, I wouldn’t even remember it's there."

For Birth Control "I've only had Liletta for 7 days, so I may not be the best judgment. But I did, however, have the Paragard for 2 years and HATED IT!!! I was fed up and wanted to give a hormonal IUD a shot. And so far, it's been night and day from Paragard. Yes, it was painful to put in... but since then, I haven't felt a thing. I haven't been spotting either. It's honestly been great! But I'll give another update after 30 days."

For Birth Control "Had mine put in June 15, 2017. The insertion was a bit painful. I had it put in two days before my period, which made my period off 17 days, so I was scared I was pregnant. Finally, I got my period three days ago. Cramping is kind of bad, but I had the copper IUD before this one, so I'm used to it. But my periods are much lighter than with the copper IUD. I mean, I only need a liner, which is nice, so this is my first. After having it inserted, I will update to let you know how long my period lasts."

For Birth Control "It was awful. Constant pelvic pain, severe mood swings, little to no libido, discomfort during intercourse, depressive episodes, worsened anxiety. When my body rejected it, I suffered a hormonal crash that my Gyno denied being a thing. Never again would I ever consider an IUD."

For Birth Control "I have been on this medication for almost a year, and the cramping that comes with this birth control is absolutely the worst. I figured after a few weeks the cramping would die down, but it didn't. I feel like my organs are being ripped apart from the inside out. These godforsaken cramps put me on my knees wishing for death. I can tolerate pain, but when it feels like my cervix is being sliced and pulled apart constantly for almost a year, something has got to give. Did the birth control do its job? Yes, I'm not pregnant. But is all this pain WORTH not being pregnant? Definitely no, it's not. Getting this thing out ASAP."

For Birth Control "Okay, so I got my Liletta 4 days ago. I've never had sex, never had birth control, and the only pain I had (which was really 75% discomfort) was the speculum and having to have my cervix widened/dilated. I didn't go on my period, and I went without any ibuprofen. Why? I really don't know, but regardless, still wasn't that bad. But I have a high pain tolerance, and everyone's body is different! Day 1: moderate cramps like usual, light bleeding. Day 2: spotting, slight discomfort. Day 3: slight discomfort, no cramps. Day 4: light 'one drop' spotting. Yeah, I would recommend this!"

For Birth Control "I have monster periods starting from a very young age. I would vomit anything I consumed from the pain and nausea. I tried 2 or 3 different types of birth control pills before my doctor recommended Liletta. I have had Liletta for 3+ years now, and it was awful at first (I had my period for nearly TWO MONTHS straight), and then it got better (my cycle was longer and I bled significantly less). However, I never got to the point where I wasn't bleeding at all, and after 2 years, my PMS and cramps started to come back. It still isn't as bad as before BC, but it has gotten worse. These days my cycle length ranges from 28-38 days, and I bleed for 8-10 days. It sucks, and I am getting it removed ASAP! I should have gotten it out a year ago, but I was hoping things would regulate."

For Birth Control "Put in after 2nd child's birth at my OB's urging in April 2016. EXTREMELY painful to have it put in; I broke into a cold sweat and became dizzy. Checked via ultrasound and said it was in place. Verified again a week later. In January 2019, went to the gyno for a reoccurring yeast infection. Told her that I had been unable to locate IUD strings for a time. (None of my doctors EVER told me to check for my strings. Google did.) She couldn't find them and booked an ultrasound for a few days later. Unable to locate Liletta during ultrasound. She recommends new BC assuming expulsion. I didn't agree, and she said I could have an x-ray for confirmation. X-rayed a week later and it was located in my pelvic region. The Liletta had perforated my uterus (probably at insertion) and had to be laparoscopically removed in February 2019. Starting to get bills now and it's not beautiful. Would NOT recommend having this put in 6 weeks PP. Fortunately, did not fall pregnant during the 3 years I had it."

For Birth Control "I had the Liletta IUD inserted 8/05/15. The insertion was super painful. I have a low threshold for pain and have never had kids. The cramps were horrible for an hour after the insertion. I was nauseous and lightheaded. Ever since I got it, I have been spotting. I haven't gone more than a week without spotting, max maybe 3 or 4 days. It's so annoying! I will bleed for a day, then nothing for 2 days, then brownish discharge. The spotting is very random. I am thinking of switching to pills because of this. The only good thing is that my PMS symptoms have gone down since I started using it. I used to be EXTREMELY moody and irritable due to PMS, but that is not the case anymore. It has been effective in keeping me not pregnant."
