"I've suffered from chronic pain, anxiety, and depression for many years. I didn't leave my house for almost 4 years due to massive panic attacks. Ketamine was introduced to me about 3 years ago, and it has changed my life!!! The setting was comfortable and relaxing, but not in a medical facility. I believe oftentimes when people have a negative experience, it's due to the environment and the trust they give to the provider. You must feel safe and surrender to get the full effects. Ketamine does more than scientists even know, they still aren't exactly sure how it works! Imagine that!? My experiences have allowed me to get out of my own way. The beauty of this medicine is it turns off the ego if you surrender. That voice telling you you aren't good enough, or loved, or wanted, etc., that's the ego. Ketamine allows your higher self to come forward, and with this, the dialogue of the ego gets buried. Some may not be ready for such an experience. I hope it becomes more available."

"Postoperative pain relief for a broken forearm included ketamine. It was awful. I've used psilocybin mushrooms and LSD in my late teens and early 20s several times, which were mostly great experiences. However, the 2 minutes that followed each bolus of ketamine had me completely engulfed within a world that looked like a huge moving cubist painting. And unlike psilocybin, I no longer had the mental facilities to reason with myself. The pain returned between each bolus to the level it was before receiving it. Not for me."

"While on the infusion, I was unable to eat food. I became very sensitive to smells and had a metallic taste in my mouth even after the infusion was stopped. I obtained about 12 hours of sleep over 12 days, and 15 days after cessation of treatment, I am just beginning to sleep more effectively. I became very sensitive to light, and that is still continuing, as is the light-headedness and unsteadiness on my feet. My blood pressure rose above 200, but my pulse rate dropped to 53. I felt as though I had an elephant sitting on my chest, and I felt that I was having difficulty breathing, but observations did not support my feelings. I developed a cough, almost like hiccups, but no tickle at the back of the throat. I also became disassociated from the pain."

"They told me that they would give me ketamine so I could have a CT scan because of back/neck pain. It was so strange. I thought I had died and heaven was just me being engulfed by white and black holes. (It was the drop ceiling above me. I truly thought I was dead. The next thing I know, I was aware of the team working to get me calmed. I didn’t like that at all. What a long, strange trip that was."

"I had a total knee replacement, and the surgeon used ketamine in the hospital. I don't know where so many quacks think it works to the point of getting up and walking immediately afterward. This is a horrible pain reliever for such severe pain. On top of that, because I was in such pain, I received no therapy in the 5 days I was in the hospital. 2 months out and still in extreme pain."

"I have only had one treatment so far. The experience was engulfing but okay. I felt like it was a video game that swooshed me from one changing room to another. I remember thinking if you did not know to expect it, it would be horrifying. I was able to think still but every thought seems slowed down. When it ended, I was amazed. As trippy as the experience was, even more strange was feeling like I had two normal legs again. Since 2009, I have tried multiple pain-relieving options and therapy. Some reduce it, but this took it away completely! After one week, I started to feel a little offness in my leg. I also have plantar fasciitis in the foot, so I thought it was probably that I was sensing. A week later, and the stiffness started to come back. 17 days after the treatment, my pain is starting to return. I called today to go in next week. The cost for me so far is $250 per hour treatment. The first was an hour. The second will also be that. Going to try the cream also. Worth it to be pain-free."

"I had experienced a terrible headache and anxiety and went to the emergency room. The doctor ordered this drug and gave it to me through an IV. It was the most terrible experience of my life. The hallucinations were so scary I thought I was going to die. It was horrible and lasted 20 minutes, everything in the room was moving. I was flying in the air and then went down into a deep black hole. The hallucinations were really so scary. It didn't do me any good except to scare me to death. I thought I was actually dying."

"I went to the hospital with a headache, and they gave me ketamine. I had the most frightening experience of my life. The hallucinating and out-of-body experience was terrible. I had no control, and I thought I was going to die. I am home and can't stop thinking about what I went through. It was a horrible, horrible experience that I ever had, and I had no control."

"I recently dislocated and broke my ankle. Prior to my surgery, they had to put my ankle back in place. They used ketamine. They said I would be awake but not remember anything. I remember a split second of being in some kind of pretty light paradise that I didn't want to leave. Apparently, I didn't even scream when they put my ankle back in place."

"I've had chronic pain for so many years. So many treatments and therapies to address chronic muscle and nerve pain. My first loading infusion sessions over a 2-week period were life-changing. No other way to describe it. Did booster infusions for a year and was physically functional and drastically reduced pain levels with weeks of no pain whatsoever. My insurance no longer covers it as it's 'experimental' and not FDA-approved for pain, so I've had to stop. Switched to nasal spray, which helps but not as much. Hopefully, it will be covered again."

"Today I had my 3rd IV session of ketamine for my chronic pain. I’ve been in severe pain for over 12 years and have CRPS, fibromyalgia, CFS, occipital neuralgia, etc. I’ve been on a pretty heavy dose of opioids for 9 years, and though I hate the side effects, they’re the only reliable, consistent relief for my pain. I would love to go off them if I found something else that truly helps my pain. So, I’m trying ketamine IV therapy. After the 2nd session, I had a more positive outlook on my life. After the 3rd one today, which was a higher dosage of 0.4, I actually feel pain relief! But I was so high, I couldn’t think. The nurse asked questions, and I didn’t understand what she was saying. Also, when they disconnected me, I was very dizzy and a bit nauseous. I’m worried about increasing the dose next session. I’ll ask to do another 0.4 dose before going up to 0.5. I want to go slow. Overall, it’s been a positive experience. I finally have hope."

"My husband recently went for ketamine injections for chronic pain due to what we believe to be a difficult-to-diagnose autoimmune disorder. He is in extreme pain daily all over his body from nerve pain to joint pain to back pain. They started with four infusions over a four-day period. Insurance does not cover, and the total cost was about six thousand dollars, but we were willing to try anything to get his life back. These infusions were supposed to last four to five weeks and only kept him pain-free for about three days."

"I've suffered with degenerative arthritis and osteoarthritis for 8 years now. The pain is every day non-stop, but after my treatment, I have relief for about 2 weeks. I'll do it again and tell all who suffer with pain to try this treatment."

"I have had 4 sessions of ketamine with increased dosage (stated slow) for neuropathic pain. I found it does well for me in helping reduce my pain but as soon as I'm off the ketamine drip, the pain returns. I believe the idea is to create new neural pathways. I will give it a couple more sessions."
