For Gout, Acute "I have had acute attacks of gout in my right foot. Soo painful a sheet laying on my foot would be intolerable. If taken at the FIRST sign of pain, and not letting it get full blown I can cut the cycle off quickly (1 day). I also have shoulder pain in both shoulders...If I take Indomethacin every 3-4 days or so (1 75 mg capsule) I can eliminate this pain as well. Light headedness for about 8 hours is sometimes a side effect but nothing more."

For Gout, Acute "Indomethacin works great for pain once you have a flare up my doctor put me on allopurinol to maintain the uric acid levels... If I have Panda Express shrimp I have an immediate gout attack so no more panda and if I have ham for some reason ham gets me going to so allopurinol on a daily basis with indomethacin when you have flare-ups is the key factor best wishes to all gout infected people, that really sucks."

For Gout, Acute "I get gout several times a year. I play a lot of tennis and I seem to get the gout in my toes, knees and wrist. I try and take this medicine as early as possible and usually I can get relief within 2 days. 50 mg 2-3 times a day. I do get light headed and I notice my blood pressure goes up about 10 points."

For Pain "I am a 58 year old woman. My neurologist wanted to determine if the trigeminal pain I had been diagnosed with and suffered with for over six years was instead a type of trigeminal headache. He put me on indomethacin 50 mg 3x’s per day. By the first dose of indomethacin I was very dizzy and nauseous I had stomach pain and extreme fatigue. I took my afternoon second dose I had all of the above symptoms but began vomiting I could no longer sit in the recliner but listed to the side with a pillow to halfway and half sit. I had difficulty concentrating and faded in and out between dozing and wakefulness. By the third dose I was having dry heaves and the above symptoms worse. I felt like what it must be like to be slipped a Mickey in an alcoholic drink, even though I don’t drink I could imagine thats what it would be like. I stumbled to my bed where I passed out. I do not plan on ever taking another dose of this medication."

For Gout, Acute "I've had gout flare attacks since I was 27, I am 39 now. The latest one started a week ago and I took Tylenol and ibuprofen alternately, the pain seemed to subside but suddenly got really bad a couple of days ago. I went to the ER and they gave me some steroids and a prescription for indomethacin and hydrocodone. The good news is that I'm able to sleep but the bad news is that the swelling remains the same, so don't know how long it's going to take to get better. I cut my sugar intake because that's said to be number one. Fingers crossed. Is it the hydrocodone or the indomethacin helping me sleep, I don't know. I have one more hydrocodone left, will see after that :)"

For Gout, Acute "I tried tart cherries and cherry juice which helped some till I could see my doctor who prescribed 75 mg of Indomethacin ER, to take twice a day. That helped with the pain and not being able to sleep at night from the pain. My doctor gave me a refill on the script."

For Gout, Acute "I’m 59 and have had gout for about 10 years now. I’m having a flare up right now and this is probably the worst ever. I’ve been using natural remedies but it’s gone beyond those having any effect now. (Goutrin, ACV, cherry and turmeric). Had a course of prednisone 3 weeks ago and it worked amazing. Thought it was over and gone but the flare up is back. I would have liked another course of prednisone but the side effects are tremendously bad for the body. Using indomethacin now. Starting day 3. First 2 days saw no relief at all. Actually the pain got far worse. This morning (3rd day) I’m getting some relief. Pain mostly gone but inflammation still there. Hope to have continued improvement as this pain is absolutely insane. I guess I need to look at my diet and increase my water intake"

For Gout, Acute "Have had several gout flare ups in the past but didn't know it. The pain was excruciating, as others have said couldn't even put a sheet over my right foot big toe. Hopping to the bathroom like a Kangaroo during the night. At times the pain was so bad I had to crawl to the bathroom. And at 3AM., it ain't funny. I determined that eating chicken livers/lots of protein and beer did me in. Went to my Doctor and he told me it was probably gout. He prescribed indomethacin 50 mg., three times a day with food in your stomach. Said he'd be on the Golf course and to let him know if I was still crawling to the bathroom. Well... it worked! The pain was significantly reduced in a matter hrs."

For Pain "I was prescribed Indocin suppositories by a doctor specialized in facial/trigeminal neuralgia. My unusual condition involves tooth/jaw pain, tinnitus, spasms of the diaphragm, low body temperature, headache, stiff back of neck, severe drop in mental capacity, and violent vomiting. Aspirin, Paracetamol, and Ibuprofen offered only partial relief with an effect of masking pain, only when I was able to keep the pills down. Indocin 100mg suppositories eliminated all my symptoms within 20 minutes and sends me into a deep, blissful sleep from which I awake fully recovered and energetic. The condition eventually reappears, but at least the duration and severity are drastically reduced. After 13 years of helpless suffering from this curse 6 days per month, Indocin gives me my life back."

For Gout, Acute "Be careful with Indomethacin. It makes me very sick, nauseous, with a feeling of dizziness. It made me pass out 3 times and really worried me. I did an MRI, EKG, blood test to determine the cause of fainting and it turned out to be the indomethacin. The lesser of two evils, gout pain or getting sick to your stomach and fainting."

For Gout, Acute "I would highly recommend you check what meds you are on and any drug interactions you may have. I almost flat lined - no lie. I was only 33 at the time and I have never took it again and no problems. I take cherry pills that help and do not drink soda. They say it's called the rich mans diet I believe it's the poor man's diet. Just eat healthy. "

Indocin (indomethacin) for Cluster Headaches "I have cluster headaches and hemicrania continuum which is diagnosed by taking indomethacin. I also have fibromyalgia which means I have really bad reactions to every medication I take and I have to take this twice a day every day. I take the lowest dose possible (25mg twice daily) even though it doesn’t give me 100% relief it gives me about 95% and I know there’s bad side effects but as long as I eat a full meal before I take it I have not experienced anything other than my face having a little rash, but I don’t have any of the other problems. As soon as I quit taking it it just comes back so to me this is a lifesaver that is worth the slight rash!"

Tivorbex (indomethacin) for Pain "I only took 2 the first day prescribed. I noticed my heart feeling weird during the day, had trouble falling asleep, and when I woke up the next morning, my face and neck were really red and irritated. I looked and felt like I had a bad sunburn. I did not take any after that."

Indocin SR (indomethacin) for Pain "For me the medication worked fine as far as reducing the inflammation. My inflammation was in one of my eyes and it did relieve the inflammation but the side effects, wow. I have been drowsy off and on and had terrible stomach pains. For me I added this to my do not take list but for someone who is not taking it everyday probably would not have as much stomach upset. I took it every day for almost two weeks. Too long for something that is hard on someone's stomach."

For Ankylosing Spondylitis "This is the NSAID of choice for Ankylosing Spondylitis. The mechanism of action is suited to how AS affects our body. When I take Indomethacin, my pain and inflammation goes away 100%. This is the only drug you need for AS in my opinion. Most doctors suggest continuous use over on-demand use in order to stop the disease progressing but I believe this NSAID is particularly strong and should not be used for more than 10 days at a time to avoid any side-effects. In order to limit use, it is hypothesised that AS is caused by a bacteria called klebsiella pneumoniae, and this feeds off of undigested starch. Find this article on the internet "The Link between Ankylosing Spondylitis, Crohn's Disease, Klebsiella, and Starch Consumption"nTherefore, a starch free diet should provide relief if followed religiously. Some times I will have cheat days so always keep Indomethacin in the cupboard for those days. So to summarise, a great medication for AS, and the only one you will need to take occasionally if following a starch free diet."

For Pain "I experience Exertion Headache Syndrome, also known as weight lifter's headache. During heavy lifts I often get a massive, instant, and very painful headache. This med was prescribed to me to be taken on one of two ways: preventative or reactionary. When taken reactionary (after a headache) it works well. Indeed better than anything I've used, other than narcotics of course. When taken before lifting weights as a preventative measure it works great, as I never get a headache. The problem is that sometimes I get so dizzy that I can hardly function. I hope this helps someone that wants to know about this drug, which I have a love/hate relationship with."

For Gout, Acute "I get gout flareups in my big toe joints a few times each year. They key for me is to have indo on hand and take 50 mg with food right away at first sign of pain, then 25 mg 3 times per day after that. Indo knocks the swelling, redness, and pain right down after a couple days at most. However, if I don't have any readily available and have to wait for my Dr. to call in a script, then wait for the pharm to fill it, etc, it will take several additional days for the indo to knock it out. I get 270 pills when I refill so I always have some."

For Back Pain "I get severe back pain. Degenerative disc, beginning signs of stenosis. I'll hear my vertebrae click out of place then it's on. This drug is not very effective at all. They gave me an injection of toradol, I think it was called. Did get about 10% relief. On my second dose of this 50mg and I swear aleve works better. Waste of money imo. I wish they could still prescribe real pain meds. I understand we are in the midst of a narcotic abuse problem in the USA, but good God. There are times when that's all that really works."

For Gout, Acute "I've had Gout for the past 8 years. Usually in my heel and various places around my foot. I can't recall getting the big toe which is odd. Over the years it has gotten worse and started to happen more frequently. I got it in my knee for the first time and that has been a wake up call as the pain is tremendous and unbearable (I have a high tolerance of pain and this made me scream on occasion). On to the indomethacin, started taking this to reduce the pain and swelling. First dose gave me a buzzed feeling and made me tired. After the few more doses (50mg, 8 hours) I started to get headaches and an overall sick feeling. Spinning, hot/cold flashes, continuous headache, insomnia, just horrible. While it did help with the pain, after three days I couldn't take this stuff anymore. It seems like it also has a hangover effect that lasted for another day. I don't know if I can ever take this again."

For Osteoarthritis "QUALITY OF LIFE HAS IMPROVED 100%. I have not experienced any side effects. There is a significant difference when I don't take them. I was told to take three 25mg pills a day but I've been fine taking 2x a day. Sometimes only one a day. I need total shoulder replacements and the pain without these pills is extreme."

For Gout, Acute "I've had gout about twice a year for 40 years. Before I got indocin I was in so much pain I had to crawl to the bathroom. Two indocin at the beginning of an attack prevents the attack. The swelling goes down to zero and I can walk without pain a few hours later. If I let it go and try to fix it after my foot is swelled up and I can no longer walk it will take about two days to fix by taking indocin twice a day. It's a real miracle medicine. To me it's about 500 times better than ibuprofen but it does cause stomach problems so I take also take a prilosec with it and I'm good to go."
