For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I had Repatha shots. I had some side effects similar to an allergic reaction. Eventually, I tried Leqvio. I've had 3 shots. I had severe leg pain that lasted a couple of weeks. I could not straighten my legs. My hamstrings were killing me (I'm no wimp, I know pain, I'm a retired Marine). I also have continued pain in both of my feet (never before). One weird side effect is my right nipple is constantly hard and painful. That started with the Repatha but went away when I stopped. Now it's back. I actually saw a specialist who prescribed me a hormone treatment. I'm not taking another drug to deal with a side effect from another. The good news is it has reduced my number from 250 to 201."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I am a 74-year-old male. Just had the second dose of Leqvio. (I had to stop Praluent after two dosages due to extreme itching.) LDL has reduced by 50% after the first dosage 3 months ago. I have experienced slight muscle discomfort, but nothing major. Highly recommend treatment, but it is expensive."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "Leqvio brought my cholesterol down by 199 points, however, the arm that was injected is seriously injured. I hope it’s temporary, but it’s hard to even use the arm at this point, and it’s my dominant arm."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "Equivalent to Repatha for cholesterol reduction (I've been on Repatha for over 10 years). I'm in the first 3 months phase. No side effects except one: I was on an ultra-low fat diet for 2 weeks, and in the second week I had memory loss similar to statins (could not 'reach' for words or phrases, could not remember locations of items after 3 minutes). After adding a modest amount of fat back in my diet, the memory problems cleared up rapidly."

For High Cholesterol "Had first injection 9/19/24 with just a slight burning sensation. Monday 9/30/24 mild muscle aches and spasms in arms, shoulders, legs, and lower back. Thursday 10/3/24 moderate muscle aches daily with difficulty sleeping. I eat a healthy diet and work out several times weekly. Hopefully, the side effects will subside, and I can continue my workouts without pain and discomfort. Since I just started the program, I will stick with it until the second injection. Am not sure if I will complete the program."

For High Cholesterol "Had starter dose end of October. Had regular injection Jan. 31. Began having leg spasms, some cramping. It's June and symptoms have not abated. How long should any side effect last? LDL-C went from 122 to 55 after the second dose."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I am on 5th Jap, and this wonder drug brings down my bad cholesterol from 181 to 92, below 100, the recommended figure to be safe from a heart attack. My good cholesterol shot up to 60, but not sure it’s because of Leqvio or my food habit. I got zero side effects, nothing, but when I took Repatha, I felt like dying, so do other statins."

For High Cholesterol "I'm a 77-year-old man in good health. I just had my third 6-month injection from Metro Infusion Center. I'm happy to report no lasting side effects after my last injection. Site injection pain disappeared in less than 24 hrs. So far, I'm very happy with it. All my extensive blood work results come back normal, including my blood glucose level (85)."

"Have just started this, one dose over 3 months, just taken 2nd dose. Have not seen any positive test results yet. My wife also started Leqvio at the same time as I did. She also is Type One for over 60 years. She did not take the 2nd round of injections. Her triglycerides had been normal, after the test, before the 2nd round of meds, they were over 1000. We have had her at doctors, all kinds of heart tests. Did not work for her, may not work for me unless test results in the next two months indicate a positive outcome. As with all diabetics, lowering all 'bad' blood test results is critical, hopefully, this could work, but not for all."

Night cramps every night disturbing sleep, and therefore causing tiredness the next day. Extreme fatigue during the day needing an afternoon nap."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I took statins for 38 years. While they may have lowered my cholesterol, they did not mitigate my eventual need for CABG surgery. I took the Repatha shots for 2 1/2 years and didn't have too many negative side effects, but didn't like the need for injections every 14 days and began noticing that I would get purpura. My cholesterol level remained at good levels. Changing to Leqvio was beneficial because there is only a need for 2 injections annually, however, my cholesterol readings are somewhat higher and the purpura has increased. I fear that I am beginning to gain a little weight from Leqvio since there have been no changes in my diet or exercise routines. I am very bothered by the frequency and size of the purpura."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "First off, I do have fibromyalgia and Sjögren’s, but after the first shot, the pain definitely went up, and I had chronic bronchial congestion. After the second shot two months ago, the pain accelerated in my knees, feet, legs, sides, chest, shoulders, and wrists. And I still have lots of congestion. I attributed the severe pain to the injection which, of course, as many say, did really help my cholesterol numbers greatly, but my next shot is in December, and I think I may not bother with it as the pain and anxiety that I attribute to the shot are not worth it. Reading these reviews and other reviews of this drug, it sounds like it just causes incredible mental muscle stiffness and congestion for many people. It works well for what it was designed to do: lowering all the numbers, and I appreciate that, but this is tough being in pain."

For High Cholesterol "No problems with the injection site, only sore for about an hour, then nothing. As for the side effects, I seem to get a cold 3-7 days after the injection. Once very severe, with coughing, but my last injection only produced a runny nose and some upper chest congestion. I have BPH, so it is hard for me to determine if some burning and slight pain is caused by the BPH or the injection. As for my LDL, it has been reduced by about 30%."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "The drop in my total cholesterol number was dramatic the first 90 days. Dropped from about 280 to 155. My LDL dropped from something like 90 to 55. Won't have the second blood work until two months from now. Side effects: The most aggravating side effect was not diarrhea, but overly soft stools. The overly soft stools cause big-time hygiene problems. This side effect started about two weeks after the shot and continued for about a month. After the second shot, the very soft stools began around two weeks following the shot and continued off and on for a few months. Very, very aggravating. I may have had at times a slight increase in having to urinate. Barely noticeable, but it did happen, and I can't say exactly when that began or tapered off. Haven't had (so far) any undue muscle aches or stiffness."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I've just had my second injection. Cholesterol dropped, so that's a positive. I still have an injection site rash, possibly due to this last injection being very uncomfortable, unlike the first one. My IBS has been really bad this time too, but not sure if connected. Jury's still out as to whether I would have a 3rd."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I am a medical professional. I am 78 y/o. Past history of CABG X3 at age 40 in 1987, total cholesterol of 385 and high LDL and low HDL. All numbers are now substantially lowered. Chol now 165. LDL-C is 76, was 165. I haven't noticed any new problems as far as side effects after my first two injections. I have a previous history that includes sciatic distribution pain and discomfort due to mild scoliosis, cervical and lumbar spinal stenosis, and disc problems. Chronic pain controlled presently with Naprosyn and Tylenol ES. Have had no injection site problems or any other obvious new onset problems. I am 78 years old and pretty active. As with every statin I've ever taken, I always wonder whether I am having age-related loss of libido and ED vs. side effects due to medication. I cannot differentiate any new musculoskeletal pain or discomfort with current pain present long before the first Leqvio injection. I have had the first two prelim shots with the next one due in 6 months."

For High Cholesterol "Two shots so far. Both times, worse stiff toes and ankles, low back pain, stiff neck, and shoulders. First time, these resolved in about a week. Stiff toes and ankles never resolve completely along with numbness in feet as a result of taking statins. Deemed statin intolerant, which is why trying the Leqvio shot. Odd side effect both times is eye irritation that feels like a stye coming on but never develops. Doing blood work to see how results are with two shots and low-fat lifestyle (down 25 lbs, weigh now what I did in my 20s). It better help or not sure all this is worth it! (Recommend with the caveat of the above)"

For High Cholesterol "In 2022, I got my first Leqvio injection in the doctor's office. I loved the results, my HDL cholesterol went to normal for a long period of time. This is the only medicine my body tolerated without any secondary effects. I beg my doctors to please get me back on, they prescribe, but insurance declined, subject to a letter of necessity, but that fails to fulfill the purpose. The doctor's office claims they did submit insurance claims, they never got it. I still need this injection. I have conventional Medicare Part B and D."

For High Cholesterol "The drug does work to lower LDL, but for me, the side effects aren’t worth the risk. I experienced the following: The injection pain lasted 20 min, but very painful! Severe shoulder pain 2 days after injection, lasted 2 days. Some joint pain, slight, but irritating cough ever since the first week. I had a very, very painful blood clot in my leg that lasted 2 weeks. My eyes became somewhat red, like they were bleeding. It was scary. The biggest factor for me was a big jump in my glucose fasting level. I knew this because I had blood work a week before the injection. I had blood work again 2 weeks after the shot. I’m not going to continue taking the drug. I’m eating clean, and I’ll take my chances. I don’t want to exchange one problem for numerous others."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "Started taking first shot March 2 shot June. It is, I believe, responsible for incredible muscle. Stephen is in pain especially in my back and my ribs. It did, however, lower my numbers quite a bit, so I’m grateful for that, but I am not sure it’s worth it if I’m going to be in such severe pain. I hope that the pain goes away in a few weeks when it works through my system."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "This is in regards to side effects of Leqvio. Had the first injection about five days ago. No pain or redness at the injection site. A bit of soreness at the injection site for about 24 hours. A lethargic feeling off and on since the injection. A small amount of muscle or joint pain in the first 72 hours after the injection. No diarrhea as yet. Slightly loose BMs. No fever. Have experienced periods of being 'light-headed', i.e. feeling faint. Have not communicated this to my physician yet. Will do so later this week. I am hopeful this injectable medication will lower my LDL and thus, my total cholesterol number."

For High Cholesterol "The Leqvio injection was a brief stop at the cardiologist's office. Typical, brief shot in the back of the arm. Easy. They held me there for ~15 minutes to ensure no injection symptoms. The nurse administering the injection did it very well. No pain or discomfort. I don't have serum numbers yet so I am unable to speak to the effectiveness, but I wish all my meds could be this easy."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "It has tremendously lowered my LDL. Side effects known: bad joint pain in my hips and knees. Lethargy, lack of energy. Possible side effects, but need to discuss with my doctor: racing heart waking me up from a sound sleep."
