"Severe itching for unknown reason (so far - test being taken). Took 1 last night at 4 pm. Did not make me drowsy, and itch did not even slightly improve. Very disappointed. Going to give it another try today after work, so I can take every 6 hours over the weekend. This way, if it does knock me out, I'm home."

"I have a rare autoimmune disorder that attacks my liver, and the pruritus (intense, internal itching) was so horrible, I was near suicide. Since taking 2/25 mg at bedtime, the pruritus has subsided immensely, and I am more calm and can manage my symptoms now. It does not work as well as Klonopin, but most providers do not like prescribing it because they all tell me it's addictive. Overall, I'm satisfied with hydroxyzine."

"I developed allergic contact dermatitis on my face about 9 months ago. So many things that I could tolerate before, i.e., dog fur, cleaning sprays, etc., would make it really flare. Didn’t want to keep applying hydrocortisone with it being my face, and I know from personal experience how it can thin your skin. Apart from piriton, which stopped working after a while, antihistamines didn’t seem to help either. I tried Protopic ointment, which appeared to help, and then I reacted to it, as my face started swelling. A pharmacist suggested hydroxyzine, and I asked my GP to prescribe it. The relief has been like a miracle!! I have been prescribed 25 mg at night, and for the first time since it all started, I have felt such relief. The intense prickling and irritation I was getting made me feel so fed up sometimes, and I couldn’t see an end to it. Now, I feel that I can start looking forward to things again. It does make me feel groggy, but that’s nothing in comparison to the intense discomfort."

"I only took two pills one day, and in the midst of my sleep, I wake up gasping for air two times, about maybe 30 min to 1 hr apart. Now I’m trying to get to sleep and debating whether I should take this med. I’m scared to take it, and it’s giving me even more anxiety."

"Unfortunately, this did nothing for me during a lupus flare. The only effect it had was to make me so drowsy and disoriented that I actually collapsed in my bathroom and woke up sometime later with a large bump on my head from falling. It was a scary experience. I don't plan on using this again."

"Began taking this after experience with all over body itching that lasted for months. I found out that I was gluten and dairy intolerant and cut it out of my diet. That’s when the medication started to work."

"Another Amazon customer asked why I get the large bottle of Benadryl: Benadryl's antihistamine ingredient is in most sleep aids too (except Nyquil which contains doxylamine instead), because it makes most people drowsy. That's the case with all first-generation antihistamines, before Claritin, Allegra, Zyrtec. It does not make me sleepy. I bought this big bottle because like many who take prescription pain pills, I get the whole body 'codeine itch' from opioids and even Ambien. Hydroxyzine and/or Diphenhydramine help counteract the maddening itch."

Hydroxyzine "It really helped me stop itching from the atopic dermatitis. I had not slept for days. It does make you very sleepy at first, but then seems to make you less sleepy after a while."

"25 mg for intense full body itching and absolutely no relief. No drowsiness either. Went up to 75 mg and still no relief and no drowsiness. Not sure what to think?"
