For Back Pain "I've been taking Hydrocodone since 2005, but have had low back injuries since 2002! Chronic. I started out on 5 mg/daily, then gradually had it increased. I've got 5 bulging discs in my back. Very painful! I had a car accident in November of 2023 and have felt WORSE since the accident. My lumbar MRI is scheduled this Friday, May 24, so once I get the report, I'll know if I have a new injury or if something's been aggravated. I have 5 bulging discs in my low back, but have had MANY different diagnosis. Anyway, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I'm now at 5 mgs 3x a day. I take it ONLY AS DIRECTED and very responsibly/cautiously. I seriously believe the car accident aggravated something, but who knows? I'll know next week. Physical therapy only helps so much, and oc, when I'm at P/T, I feel much worse/sore. The heating pad at the very end is worth it! Usually my pain ranges anywhere from a 4 1/2 to a 6 1/2. At its worst, a 7- 7 1/2. Prolonged standing worsens it."

Hydrocodone for Pain "Just started Hysingla ER 30 mg but with Norco 10/325. The pain doctor and I have been trying several IR and ER pain relief medicines. I have chronic pain after back surgery L5-L3, plus fibromyalgia and arthritis. So I hurt from head to toe, literally. I won't give up Norco until I know new meds work. That's our agreement. I have had only 3 days on Hysingla. I tried mornings, but it kept me up that night, so I switched to 9 pm. I think it peaks about 10-12 hours in. I sleep okay. I need to be able to move normally again during the day! I really can't tell I'm taking it, as I'm still taking Norco every 4 hours. They're not great either, but at least it works somewhat on back pain. I noticed on the 2nd day I'm starting to itch. If it doesn't let up, I'll have to call the doctor's office for something else. I hope not, I'd like to give a full month trial. Maybe it is too low a dose for me."

Hydrocodone for Pain "Since most pain management docs (PMD) are feeling heat from the DEA due to the campaign against opioids, most PMDs are turning to AD formulations to cover their ass. Previous ER formulations provided me with very little relief. Zohydro ER is the exception. It's overall very effective, and releases very evenly over 7 to 9 hours. Been on it close to a year now, and it still works really well."

Hydrocodone for Pain "Dr. prescribed to me and did not emphasize that my COPD was going to be so affected that I went into respiratory arrest after only my second dose of 80 mg hydrocodone. Spent 3 weeks in the hospital, and then I had C. diff for close to two years from antibiotics taken for this. All in all, I believe this medicine was targeted to poor people on Medicaid (they were the only insurance accepted for Hysingla), and it came close to destroying my life. I only hope the Dr. responsible is no longer able to practice due to the number of complaints against him."

For Pain "I've been up the ladder on pain meds. I have had chronic pain for 20 years. I would just like to say OxyContin and hydrocodone are one and the same, however, the mg is key. I am 5'7" and 140 lb. and have found 10 mg AM and 10 mg PM has had the most positive effect on me, and I have tried Percodan as well as morphine, 30 mg three times daily, Vicodin, and an array of others. The hydrocodone 10 mg x daily has won hands down. I will add no prescription will remove pain 100%."

Hydrocodone for Pain "I'm an amputee and also suffer from hip and back pain. I have been in pain management since 2010 and have tried a few different pain meds with very little success until Zohydro was approved by the FDA. I am prescribed 2 50 mg Zohydro, and as breakthrough pain management, I take Oxycodone 15 mg 6 times daily, and my quality of life has been wonderful. I'm 48, a single father of a 4-year-old son, and have been looking after him since he was 1 year old. Yes, at times it's a struggle, before Zohydro, just changing diapers was excruciating, much less lifting and holding him. Since its approval, our time together has been the greatest gift ever given to me. I am able to play, take him to the park, and be the parent I was before my illness that took my leg and aggravated my other conditions. Zohydro has been great, my only issue is the half-life is short of the 12 hours."

Hydrocodone for Pain "24-hour medicine for pain. I only got 6 hours of minimal relief. Started on the 20 mg for 1 month, then Dr. switched me to 40 mg for 1 month, then 30 mg for 1 month. It always seemed to start working long after I took it, about 12 hours, and made me extremely sleepy and tired, along with pain. In the 3 months I took it, I gained 15 pounds without even eating more or differently because I was constantly nauseous with it. Who wants food when queasy? I have been prescribed an instant release pain med and have been on it for 2 days. It works great with no side effects, and I have lost the 7 lbs of the 15 that Hysingla made me gain. Hopefully, the other 8 lbs will come off quickly too because the weight gain from the drug caused my A1C to go"

Hydrocodone for Pain "Many people are complaining about the side effects of this medication, however, what they are describing is withdrawal symptoms. This medication is being prescribed at much lower equivalent doses than what people are currently taking, hence, withdrawal symptoms kick in. After much research and after titrating up, my suspicions were confirmed. I was experiencing withdrawal symptoms from the reduction in opioids, not side effects from the medication. Unfortunately, the manufacturer is no longer shipping the dosage I am in need of, so after titrating up for the last several months, I am now in a bit of a nightmare, having to come off this med, which was helping! The last several months were frustrating and painful, but finally, relief was well within sight, except the manufacturer is not shipping the dose I need."

Hydrocodone for Pain "I was on Percocet 10/325 mg for about 10 years, and I asked to switch first to a buprenorphine patch, which I was too terribly allergic to and had awful withdrawal symptoms from, and then I asked to switch to Hysingla because I felt like a pill junkie and disliked the high/low cycle. Plus, I was starting to cheat and take two each morning of my 4 per day allotment. With Hysingla, I had to endure titration to get the right med strength, so I started out with 10 mg for two weeks. I barely felt relief. Then I moved up to 20 mg for two weeks, but didn't feel too much difference from 10 mg. Then I tried 30 mg for two weeks, and I could tell it was working but not well enough, so now I am moving to 40 mg. Hopefully, this will be the trick."

Hydrocodone for Pain "I was on hydrocodone 7.5/500 for my back. Then suffered a head injury in 2013. I was hospitalized for 10 days, where they gave me morphine, Norco, Dilaudid, and fentanyl. When I got out, I went on oxycodone. One and a half years later, I wanted out. I white-knuckled a harsh withdrawal. But the pain was more spread and frequent from the injury. I went on Zohydro ER 15 mg, but sometimes needed to take two - it was too much. I dropped to 10 mg, but the insurance doesn't like paying for 120 caps when they can pay for 60 - so I moved to 20 mg. My favorite part of Zohydro ER is, I think because of the way it is dispersed, I have never suffered any withdrawal symptoms from it when I stop for a couple of days. I swear by it. It doesn't completely get rid of my pain, but it alleviates it enough so that I can enjoy some life. Grant you, a higher dosage might get rid of the pain, but I choose not to go that route due to past experience. I do not know that the higher dosage can guarantee me no withdrawal effects like now."

Hydrocodone for Pain "I have been taking Hysingla ER for almost one year now. The doctor started me on 20 mg, and today I am taking 100 mg. No side effects for me. I rarely take Vicodin for breakthrough pain now that I seem steady at this dose. It took a while to get me to the right dose. I think it is critical for your pain doctor not to reduce or stop all pain meds when you are on the low doses. It should be done when you get to the dose that works. My doctor was great working with me to get me to the right dose without making me suffer."

Hydrocodone for Pain "I have been taking the Zohydro 50 for about 8 months now. I started off with the Hyslinga 80 mg, but it was not lasting the full 24 hours, so my Pain Dr. put me on the Zohydro 50 mg twice a day. For the most part, it has worked well... I loved the fact that I did not have to take 6 pills a day to try to manage my pain... And I will say the Zohydro worked a lot better than taking all those pills. My last appointment I got my prescriptions and took them to the pharmacy only to find out that my insurance company... Blue Cross/Blue Shield... Yes, I am blasting them... ended up having to go back on the Hydrocodone 10 mg 6 times a day, and it is NOT working... In CONSTANT pain... So upset about this!!!"

Hydrocodone for Pain "Hysingla was offered to me at a pain clinic. It was not really medically necessary, in my opinion. The cost of this medication would be $7,000 to $8,000 per year for my insurance plan portion and my own portion together. You may want to know, be aware of how much your plan has to pay and not just yourself. Further, your insurance could stop payment if they consider this drug just too expensive. I would like to know why a physician or P.A. would order this particular drug if it wasn't absolutely medically necessary, just sort of a suggestion for some small reason, and a very expensive suggestion. It seems extreme due to the high cost. Also, I would like to see the company that makes this drug publish to the public their open payments made to providers or institutions and the reason for the payment."

For Pain "First pill, I had nausea and constipation that sent me to the ER. No pain relief there. I took a couple more doses when I had already taken other pain medications that couldn't be repeated until a couple of hours later, and I had no pain relief—nor any bad side effects. Can't use it for pain or to even make myself constipated if I wanted that! Super hyped-up, overrated junk."

Hydrocodone for Pain "This is the only drug that works for me. It lasts longer than Vicodin HP 10/300s, and there are no ups and downs, just constant pain relief with no noticeable side effects (I've been taking pain meds for years, though). It's a miracle for me! I am using the new formulation, and it does work, but I have to take it 3 times a day since they only last 7 hours, not the 12 it says it should. I have one dose of short-acting for breakthrough pain every day. I'm using the discount program, and it is still a high price, I'm worried about affording it! :("

For Pain "After taking hydrocodone for chronic pain for many years, I continued to complain of being uninterested in sexual intercourse, burning during ejaculation, and burning my wife during ejaculation. I have weaned myself off the drug and have noticed these symptoms are going away. Many doctors denied the fact that this drug would cause these problems, but I am happy to say now that I am off hydrocodone, sex is almost back to normal."

For Pain "I have been on hydrocodone for years and cannot get surgery due to COVID. I suffered extreme pain in my lower back. The doctor will not prescribe Dilaudid like in Atlanta. They put me on fentanyl patches and that provided no relief. His office says to call 911 in case of emergency because his office has not returned my calls for the Dilaudid that got rid of the pain. I have taken 4 hydrocodone just to be able to sleep at night and have no pain. I have Narcan on hand in case of overdose. So far, 4 hydrocodone in the morning, two midday doses, and 4 more at bedtime with my other medications."

Hydrocodone for Pain "Have had chronic pancreatitis for years. After 5 failed surgeries and trying about 30 different medicines for pain, I went to a pain clinic and got put on 10 mg Zohydro twice a day along with the 10 mg of oxycodone every 6 hours for breakthrough pain I had been on for a year or two prior. Works amazing. Take the everyday pain down to a 1 or 2, and I can actually function and have a life now! Only side effect I had was constipation, and laxatives make my abdominal much worse, so got put on SYMPROIC, which works well for the constipation. Only downside is trying to get the prescription at pharmacies has been kind of a pain, and every month my script ends up getting filled anywhere from 1 to 3 days after my previous script has run out due to the government having new rules and regulations on ordering these types of medicines."

Hydrocodone for Pain "I've been on Zohydro ER 50 mg for 2 years now. It works excellently for managing my chronic pain. I don't get 100% relief, but I get more relief than I have with other medications. I don't get the high feeling as I felt with other opiates such as fentanyl, OxyContin, Opana, and morphine. I can remain focused on Zohydro ER. This drug does not have Tylenol mixed with it. I am very happy with my Zohydro ER. I need to take it 3 times a day as it only lasts for about 7 hours before the pain starts to kick back in. The medication's ridiculously expensive, but I have no choice but to pay if I want to continue getting out of bed every day."

Hydrocodone for Pain "I have chronic pain due to problems with my spine; it's degenerative disc related, 20 some years, with no surgery possible. I have been practicing yoga for 2 decades. I have needed pain Rx's off and on. Hydrocodone has worked best for me, leaves me clear-minded, able to do all daily living activities, most critical when caring for our then-young children. I was misunderstood by different doctors who simply will do anything to avoid prescribing what a patient actually needs. I became proactive. I take Hydrocodone 10/325 every 4 hours, (4 x day). At bedtime, I take 1 Hysingla XR 20 mg. It was my new M.D.'s idea since the intensity of pain prior to the last epidural was high - I hadn't slept many nights in weeks. I do not know how I would be without Hysingla. I also do not know how patients writing say they take it in the daytime can do so. I suppose it depends on metabolism, what other medications are taken, and tolerance of XR meds. It is still not perfect."

Hydrocodone for Pain "I never received much relief from hydrocodone. Then along came Zohydro - I was quite skeptical at first due to the fact I had quite a high tolerance to oxy, but I have actually been quite pleased. It's for sure a few steps down from the oxy I was on, but, as has already been mentioned, it's not a roller coaster ride you get with a lot of other pain meds. Only sides thus far have been dehydration, fatigue, and very vivid dreams - I wake up really freaked out by how real they seem at times. At first, I thought it was due to other things I was taking, but I have since ruled them out, so it's definitely the Zohydro. Now I wait until I am totally awake before I take my first dose. I do believe that 12 hours of relief is a bit of a stretch and that 9 hours is closer to the length of relief it provides, and I'm on the 50's. I do highly recommend."

For Pain "So far, so good with the Hysingla ER 20 mg 1x per day. I was on 4-10/325 Loratabs per day. My doctor recently put me on Hysingla with 2-10/325 Loratabs for breakthrough pain. I have been on it for 3 days, and I can already tell you that it has an amazing effect on my pain. It is not totally gone, and I know it never will, but it has helped so much! I have spinal stenosis and a few disc problems along with nerve problems! I highly suggest trying this!!"

Hydrocodone for Pain "I have had a bad total knee replacement and two rotator cuff surgeries that need to be redone, which puts me in basically constant pain. Pain management has me on 10/325 Norco as well as Hysingla to take at night because it will apparently help me sleep, as Norco doesn’t let me sleep. Well, neither does Hysingla, I just lay there and never fall into deep sleep, plus it does nothing for pain. The only pain reliever that works for me is Norco. Any suggestions for pain at night with sleep?"

Hydrocodone for Pain "I was on 50 mg for MS. I didn't feel any relief. I see some praising it but say they take regular hydros too, so could it really be that good? If you have increased intracranial pressure, I would absolutely advise against taking it. After a month, I noticed my vision getting blurry even though my IIH meds were working. Normal pressure is 15, mine was 62 and required four spinal taps. After two months, I completely lost my vision in one eye. This never helped with the pain, but my doctor refused to put me back on hydros. I found the information where it said it was a risk to people with IIH. I told her, and that's when she finally took me off and put me back on regular hydros. After a week, I could see colors and lights, after two weeks, my vision completely returned. Maybe it is good for some, they didn't go blind. I personally wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If I have to take an ER med, oxy would be my preference."

Hydrocodone for Pain "No help at all. No relief. Became very depressed. My muscles hurt badly. I was switched from 7.5 hydrocodone, which, by the way, took the edge off the pain, to Hysingla 30 mg. I noticed right away that there was a lot of breakthrough pain."
