For High Blood Pressure "Had a Renal Nuclear Scan with Lasix Injection for die contrast to appear on the scan to identify the source of blockage in a kidney. Prior to the scan, 5 weeks of recovering from an Upper Respiratory Infection including Bronchitis, all of my URTI symptoms returned with a severe cough and esophagus (throat) constriction DURING the 45 minute scan after the Lasix was injected. Fortunately, I was in a hospital where they treated me immediately for the allergic reaction. READ all of the interactions and side effects. After 12 hours, I feel much better."

For High Blood Pressure "I was prescribed Lasix for swelling and to help lower my blood pressure. First time I took it, within three hours suddenly I had serious heart palpitations and my blood pressure went up to the highest it has ever been. I will not be taking that pill ever again."

For Heart Failure "I initially complained to the GP at private clinics and hospitals in South Africa about not being able to sleep lying down. Following incompetence by the clinic and two private hospitals, I was admitted to the heart ward in a public facility that is also an academic hospital. The doctors put me on 4 x 80 mg (injectable) for the first 3 days. After two days, the swelling in my legs and body had gone down. I was peeing more than 2000 ml every 12 hours. By the 5th day, I was back to normal. From the start, I had no discomfort in the stomach and no nausea like I had while in the private hospitals. Clearly, while the private hospital used Lasix and also prescribed Lasix, the dosage of 40 mg per day was ineffective."

For Edema "On 1/30/22, I woke up with ankle & foot swelling & pain out of nowhere. I thought it may have been connected to a full body massage I'd gotten 2 days before that but, at this point, it seems it's not. I'm still having this issue 3.5 weeks later, but now the edema is pitting. I saw my Dr 2 days ago & she pointed out that my calves are also swollen. She prescribed this med for me to take twice a day for three days. She's also sending me for an echocardiogram. So far, I've taken one dose & it maybe the last one I take. I've got the absolute worst optical/sinus headache. I've taken my rx migraine med, rx ibuprofen & 2 OTC sinus pills with no luck. I'm aware headaches are a possible side effect but I didn't expect it to be this bad. As expected, I'm peeing a lot, but the negatives are outweighing the positives."

For Edema "The drug worked as intended, edema (etiology: rare adverse reaction to Na-valproate) was completely gone by day 7 of treatment. The only 'side effect' was initial frequent and torrential passage of urine (which was the drug working as intended), mostly subsided by day 3. The drug is very cheap."

For Edema "First time taking I worked two 12s without compression stockings got 4+ putting edema to both feet and ankles. Dr prescribed lasix 40 and I took one dose and used the compressions and I was fine. Year later I spent 5 days in 35+ heat and came home with the same edema. Used one dose of the lasix, wore compression for 12 hours, and did some legs up the wall for about 10 mins. My swelling was completely gone within two days and stayed away. I’m 24."

"I feel like I have to pee almost constantly. Sometimes I don't get there on time and have begun using special liners to handle leaks. I used to take my Lasix early in the morning. Then I discovered that I couldn't really go anywhere or do anything because I'd constantly have to go to the bathroom. Those places included dental offices, doctor's offices, banks, grocery stores, and restaurants. I was terrified of even being invited to someone's home for lunch or dinner, afraid I'd have to leave a couple of times mid-meal, disrupting everyone else! The good news is I'm still alive. Without it, I probably wouldn't be."

For High Blood Pressure "This medication was ineffective for me - years ago, I had a mini-stroke, also known as a TIA. At first, this helped a little bit, but when you have 158/90 BP, you need more than 5% reduction in it. This medication made me severely dehydrated and caused significant electrolyte loss. I quit it and tried Chlorthalidone, but that again failed - if you only have mild elevated BP, this could be OK; if you have significant hypertension, though, you are much better suited to a real medication, such as a beta blocker."
