For Stomach Ulcer "I've been suffering for years with stomach ulcers. Recently, my doctor prescribed me this medication. It has worked like a charm. A lot of the pain has gone away, and I somewhat feel normal. How long this will last, I don't know. But I think it's a very good medication, and people are giving it a bad reputation for no good reason. I can't live without my medication."

For Urticaria "I took this to stop an overreaction of my immune system to a virus that is causing a pandemic, it worked immediately for 3 to 4 days, but then I got severe muscle pain and weakness, and my joints felt decrepit in my hips, legs, knees, and feet. I could barely walk, and my gait was that of a 90-year-old. I am athletic and do my own yard work. I also had severe sadness and hopelessness that felt overwhelming. I finally stopped taking it, and my mental health is back on track. My legs are slowly normalizing. I hope I get back to normal. I am taking charcoal pills and hydrating to remove the toxins and taking vitamin B complex. This medicine is damaging to me."

For GERD "My doctor just switched me over to famotidine. I don't like the way it makes me feel. I've noticed muscle cramps and a tightening in my throat. I was on ranitidine, but due to the recall, my doctor took me off of it. I had no bad effects from the ranitidine, and I'm going to see if I can get back on it. Nothing really helps, all my issues are still here, but at least I didn't have any bad side effects. I don't know what the answer is."

Famotidine for GERD "I bought this due to chronic gastritis inflammation, bad GERD, hiatal hernia, and having Crohn's IBD. I was told by several doctors that I could use it in between Protonix 40 mg PPI. I have been struggling for the past couple of months with really bad acid reflux to where it burns when the acid hits my intestines. Causes intense diarrhea, and with Crohn's squeezing pains you can't understand unless you have it. Crohn's is horrible, unfortunately. When I took the medication, I felt “really off,” like I just wanted to drop, felt like I didn't have control of my nervous system. Laid down and tried to calm myself down."

For GERD "My doctor first suggested pantoprazole for my acid reflux, which I’ve used in the past. But I wanted to try something a little more gentle this time. I was pleasantly surprised that this worked perfectly. I started with the maximum dose for a few weeks, then slowly weaned off it completely over a few months."

For Duodenal Ulcer "I have a peptic ulcer and took Nexium. Causes horrible back pain, itching, and horrific gas. Stopped taking, and I was in pain all the time, nauseous, horrible acid in my throat, just awful. Saw our family gastroenterologist, and he prescribed a 40 mg dose to me, two times per day for 6 weeks to heal the ulcer. After one hour of taking, the pain went away, acid taste gone, was able to eat, and the nausea was gone. No side effects. Just felt very relaxed. After 4-6 weeks, the doctor will move me to as needed only after feeling so awful for 2 months. I am thankful for this medication."

For Urticaria "I was suffering from chronic idiopathic urticaria and angioedema for 6 months. I had been given every antihistamine under the sun, been on and off steroids, had numerous blood tests, and tried everything. Then, I was referred to a dermatologist and he prescribed me Famotidine 20mg. My rash completely disappeared!!! It's a miracle! I still have to be referred to a specialist as I may need XOLAIR, the very expensive injection that cures chronic idiopathic urticaria, but for now, taking Famotidine once a day has kept the rash and angioedema away. Please, if you are suffering from chronic idiopathic urticaria and angioedema, ask your doctor for this drug!"

For GERD "I have GERD and irritable bowel syndrome. For my GERD, it is cheaper to buy OTC medicines rather than the prescription version. I take famotidine 10 mg tablets twice a day before meals. I take this along with 200 mg cimetidine. For the cimetidine, I take 2 tablets twice a day. This therapy works great for me, and my doctor is glad I finally found relief."

For Allergic Urticaria "I have a lot of allergies: grass, trees, outdoor mold, both kinds of dust mites, but the really bad ones are cold urticaria (hives when my skin gets cold) and a food allergy to cashews and walnuts. I just went through an accidental exposure to cashews in my Asian sesame salad 2 days ago (who puts cashews in a sesame salad!). While I still experienced a lot of stomach pain, I did not get hives down my throat with swelling, no throwing up for hours, and no real gastric issues other than pain for a few hours. No EpiPen used! I did add Benadryl as soon as the pain occurred and I discovered what I had done. But famotidine is a game changer for me! My allergies are better, and no more hives all winter! As well as the best ever response to accidental exposure to cashews! And the prescription generic is so darn cheap..."

For GERD "GERD - over-acidic stomach, did not have acid reflux. I've been taking Pepcid AC for years with good results. Acid issue was becoming worse, Dr. prescribed 40 mg famotidine, 1 x day. At first, it helped along with changing to a bland, non-fatty food diet (I lost 25 lbs, hoping to lose another 10). Advised Dr. of waning relief, he increased the dosage to 2 x day. I experienced worse effects, acidic stomach along with diarrhea, bloating/gas if I ate/cheated on diet (1 whole egg instead of just the whites). Same reaction to other spicy or fatty foods in small quantities, not whole meals. Went back to 1 x day for a week, then I stopped taking the medication for one day and felt better, no excessive acid after eating 6 oz of steak. Previously, under the med, a hamburger caused the worsened symptoms. Will stay off the med and continue with diet and limited intake of fatty & spicy foods. Will drop the med if things continue to improve without it."

For GERD "Yesterday was my first time taking it since I have stomach soreness from food poisoning last week. Right after taking it, I was coughing, felt nauseous, and it felt like my chest was tightening, but it only lasted an hour. I felt tired and had a migraine most of the day. Today, I got the same symptoms of the coughing, nausea, and chest tightness. I am going to call my doctor tomorrow and see what else I can take."

Famotidine for Indigestion "Pepcid Complete 1 chewable tablet gave me relief within 30 min, but when I woke up 12 hrs after I took the drug, my urine is dark orange. Now, 4 days after, my urine is still orange, although lighter. I have been drinking a lot of water. Should I be worried?"

For Urticaria "While I found this awesome and it got rid of my hives, I experienced a rare side effect, it seems. I totally lost my ability to control my bladder. It has become so embarrassing, even though no one sees or knows about it... kinda personal, ya know. I cannot go anywhere without worrying about my bladder, and sometimes I have left the store as my bladder gives me no warning, and then it's a matter of how fast I can get to my car before anyone notices that I wet myself. It's horrible. I have stopped taking this and will gladly suffer from the hives that have been randomly occurring since I was a teen. I'm in the 40-50 age."

For GERD "Was put on omeprazole while in the hospital. After 6 months, I developed constant nausea and sickness. After speaking with my own local doctor, she told me to stop taking them and start famotidine 20 mg twice per day. Stopped omeprazole on the Friday and started famotidine Saturday. One tablet, and within 3 hours, the nausea/sickness was gone. Couldn't believe it. The only side effects I've had with famotidine are a mild sore head, which clears after roughly 10 minutes. Another slight niggle is stomach and abdomen area rumbles and grows loudly later on at night. Really cannot fault this drug. Being honest, if you get prescribed this, try it, it has helped me wonders. But time will tell, I've only been on it for 2 weeks. Looks promising for sure."

For GERD "Started having acid reflux 3 years ago, tried omeprazole, no effect. Then Dr. switched me to famotidine, once in the morning and then at night. I was no better but was told to keep taking as it takes time to work. I tried it for 6 months but then unable to sleep properly, only 2-3 hours a night, burning sensation in throat, lost 2 teeth due to acid and regurgitation, burping and coughing, pain under rib cage, and feeling sick. I have to sleep with a wedge. I have now stopped taking and feel much better without this medication."

For Peptic Ulcer "My gastroenterologist put me on 40 mg, twice per day, for six weeks for my peptic ulcer. I tested negative for H. pylori. My PCP had me on Nexium, which I ended up being allergic to. Horrible headache, fatigue, hives, major bowel issues, and nausea. Famotidine has changed my life. After two doses, I felt better than I had in nearly one year. I had zero side effects, which made it easier for me to stay on the six-week plan. After my six weeks, I will remain on it as needed."

For Indigestion "I've taken it for a couple of years, and it has really worked for me. But for the past 6 months, my pharmacy cannot get it, says it's on back order, and gave me something else. I got a reaction to the new one, so I started taking my husband's. Went back to the pharmacy, still on back order. Starting to get very upset and looking for somewhere else to obtain this."

For GERD "No side effects on Famotidine. Started taking 10 mg in 2005, diagnosed with Acid Reflux and CAD after I had chest and shoulder pains. Famotidine worked well for 8 years, then after more major life stressors, Acid Reflux got worse and I had constant side pain, then diagnosed with Gastritis. Made dietary changes, eventually got better continuing to use Famotidine as needed. Recently, Dr. increased it to 20 mg. Worked well until a few months ago, waking up with frequent sore throat. Bad side pain from 2013 came back, probably from coffee, dairy, and spicy food. Famotidine still gives me relief but bad stomach pain persists. I also had an episode of intense side pain under my right breast and in the shoulder blade. So something more going on — maybe gallbladder. My doctor put me on Prilosec for 14 days while waiting for an ultrasound and CT scan. I still take 1 Famotidine in the morning and it gets rid of the sore throat. Weaning myself off coffee and gave up dairy again."

For Indigestion "I have been on famotidine 40 mg tablets. I am a senior, 73, and have been staying inside. In March, I thought I had maybe gotten the corona-19, I had a sore throat, headaches, about a 100 fever, and felt bad. This only lasted about a few days. My doctor just told me to go to the hospital if I got worse, but I did not. I started feeling better. So I just thought it was not, but now I wonder if taking the famotidine helped me have a mild case of it. I have not been tested, it was not available."

For GERD "I have taken famotidine for several years now. My complaints to my gastro doctor were I got sick to my stomach a lot, or planning for a vacation and by the time of vacation I am sick to my stomach. I didn't like going on vacation because by the time I got there I was sick to my stomach. My doctor told me he would fix me right up. He said that my throat was slowly closing up and he would go in and stretch my throat. He said the constant reflux was building up something like a scab. He operated on my throat and prescribed famotidine to be taken 20 minutes before eating. I take it at dinner. He stretched my throat and the prescription he prescribed works great at 40 mg. I feel great with no side effects. I do not look at the side effects because then my imagination would run wild! All I know is I feel great. I am tired a lot but that could come from other medications that I had been using before taking famotidine."

For GERD "It doesn't do a darn thing for me. I don't even know why I bother taking it. I have to sleep sitting up so that I don't throw up all night from GERD. I have tried all of the major drugs to try to control my condition, but none of them work. Very discouraging. The only thing that seems to help even a little bit is keeping my stomach full at all times (at least when I throw up, it's not bile or acid). I've gained almost 60 pounds this last year as a result of it, though."

For GERD "I was prescribed famotidine 20 by my ENT doctor at bedtime. Went in with sinus issues, and he went down my nose/throat and noticed severe acid reflux, which is odd because I rarely get heartburn. Been taking it for a week and noticing odd things. I will discontinue it tonight to see if the side effects go away. I started burping a lot and would wake up nauseous. Breathing sometimes is off, and felt like I have a chest gas bubble that won’t come out, and I have been taking Gas-X. The chest discomfort made my anxiety worse some days. At first, I was happy with this medication because it helped me sleep and stopped my dry cough at night, but a lot of these issues started after taking it. When I burp, it does relieve the pressure, but then comes back later on, and today started randomly feeling leg pain. I’m hoping after I stop, the issues will subside. Otherwise, it’s another issue."

For GERD "I was prescribed famotidine for my stomach issues. I took this medication for a couple of weeks, and it seemed to help stomach issues, however, I had severe twitching and cramps in my right leg for three days, so I stopped taking famotidine. Recently, my stomach started to play up, went to the doctor, and was prescribed another H2 receptor medication, but it was not in stock, and I had to take famotidine. I took 40 mg at night for 3 nights and was fine, however, on the third night, I started to feel high levels of anxiety, had a strange feeling in my head, and had insomnia. I won't be continuing to take this medication anymore."
