For GERD "So this drug is the worst! I DO NOT recommend it. The second I take it, I notice issues swallowing, excessive mucus, and difficulty breathing to the point that I’ve been to the ER twice! I’m just glad I noticed it was from this as doctors do not realize over-the-counter drugs can cause severe side effects. Other fun side effects listed under “rare” that I had are: chills, anxiety, trouble sleeping, hallucinations, irritability, restlessness, dizziness, weakness. This should be taken off the market, especially as an over-the-counter drug."

For Hiatal Hernia "Very bad experience with this drug famotidine. Almost instantly, I started having side effects: very severe headaches, dizziness, and nausea. I also had very bad cramps that led to diarrhea. Only minimally helps with GERD and acid reflux-related diseases."

For GERD "Pepcid is literally the spawn of Satan. I was prescribed Pepcid twice a day every day for acid reflux/sour mouth. I never felt WORSE in the following categories: one-sided headache/migraines, dizzy, weak, fatigued, depressed, anxious, panicked, crying episodes, joint pain, constipation, swallowing difficulties, chest pain, heart palpitations. I want to emphasize that I NEVER experienced such bad headaches, dizziness, weakness, and joint pain prior to taking Pepcid. I SOMETIMES experience crying episodes, constipation, and depression before/during my menstrual cycles. I took Pepcid even when I wasn't on my period, and I've ruled out those symptoms. The side effects were so bad to the point that I called out at my NEW job, and I really don't want to call out sick. It also does NOT help that I took Pepcid while on Lexapro. As for my acid reflux, there are no improvements in my sour mouth, but I'm not sure if I've been taking it for long enough. DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL!!!!!"

For GERD "Took this medicine for GERD. After 1 week, I started getting anxiety attacks, heart palpitations, muscle weakness, dizziness, and nausea. I felt bloated all the time, and I couldn’t eat. When the insomnia symptoms escalated, like I’d drank a pot of coffee, it was intensely scary. Even 24 hours after my last dose, I still don’t feel well. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone."

Famotidine "It worked rather quickly for me. Within a 1/2 hour, I was feeling significantly better. I did, however, experience brief chest pain and tightness and a bit dizzy about 20 minutes after taking it. I've only taken one dose so far and hope that I'll be able to continue taking this as treatment for abdominal pain suspected of a peptic ulcer."

For Peptic Ulcer "Started taking this for a month, 40 mg twice a day for gastritis. Noticed a lot of anxiety after taking it. Plus hallucinations, dizziness, feeling tired. Plus shoulder joints and back hurts. Had heart palpitations. Having hot flashes also. I've cut it down to when I need it. I pretty much feel back to normal again. Med works, just not worth the side effects. PPIs mess with your absorption of food. You don't get all your nutrients. I think it's messed up my gut. Diarrhea more than usual. Wish I never started it."

For GERD "I started this medication in the midst of a severe acid reflux flare-up after a very stressful event sent it off the rails. I was prescribed this in an emergency room when I couldn’t get in to see my family doctor. I took it for around 9 days, I believe. I noticed no difference in my reflux. I took this with Prevacid, which had stopped working for me. Now, I have severe anxiety. I have panic disorder and PTSD. I noticed around day 7 or 8 that something felt a bit off; my anxiety was more on edge. I was and am still under a lot of stress from the reflux flare, so that may be entirely unrelated to the drug, but it’s worth mentioning. I did realize after coming off of the famotidine that it absolutely made me a bit dizzy; it was very subtle and only really noticeable when it was gone. Not my cup of tea, but worth a shot to see if it works for you. With insurance and a prescription, a month’s supply of 60 pills (20mg) was just under $10, so it’s very affordable to manage reflux."

For Indigestion "Taking it for some days, one 40 mg dose doesn't seem to be sufficient, if I take it in the morning, by late afternoon I start to feel a little burning again. Side effect-wise, I have anxiety, dizziness, and nervousness. Not worth the hassle, better to stick with antacids or PPIs."

For GERD "Made me unwell at just 20 mg before bed - anxiety, raised BP, dizziness, migraine lasting days, near constant gas and gastrointestinal upset. If you take this, look out for unexplained migraines."
