For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I'm from the UK. I wasn't tolerant to statin tablets. I had started on 80 mg atorvastatin, then my dose went down to 40 mg. I then got changed to pravastatin 10 mg - still no joy, joint pains all the time. I was then put on Repatha, and within 2 weeks, my cholesterol went from 5.3 down to 3.4, no side effects. That was early days, but then over the weeks, my joints started to hurt, I had constant headaches, UTI infections, collapsed lung, throat infections, post-nasal drip, severe low back pain. I can't walk from one end of the house to the other without pain. I have chest pain, but I also suffer musculoskeletal issues, so hard to say if it's Repatha causing that pain, but it probably is. I got blurry vision, now a tingling in my left arm and leg, and sometimes in the face. I've done urine tests that have shown my liver has issues. Now 16/7/2022, 3:28 am, and I haven't slept properly for months due to my anxiety and depression being at an all-time high. I just don't know which way to turn. I get no help from GP or hospital and don't know who to report it to."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "It has been 6 months since I took one injection of Repatha. I still experience flare-ups of muscle and joint pain, as well as muscle weakness and fatigue. I am a 65-year-old woman of smaller stature. My CRP was over 3 times normal after the one injection, gradually reducing to normal over many months. This medication can cause side effects that last a very long time and greatly affect quality of life. Beware!"

For High Cholesterol "I took Repatha every two weeks for 9 doses. Labs were much better for cholesterol. But developed headaches, which lasted 3 weeks, and a runny nose, aching joints in the right elbow and right knee. Right elbow better since the medication was stopped, but right knee and leg still very painful after 3 weeks off the medication."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "The first injections were fine. Then I started having muscle, joint, and overall body pain, which was very severe. Continued on drug several more months, and although cholesterol lowered from total 212 lb to 158 lb, the pain has become unbearable. I stopped after 6 months, and a month later, only moderate improvement of body pain. I hope the muscles are not damaged."

For High Cholesterol "I have to say that the drug works, but at what cost. I can't take statins due to the joint and muscle pain it causes me. I have been on Repatha for 3 months now. I just recently went to my doctor with severe back, joint, and feet pain. I also complained about low energy. She thought maybe I had depression, which I quickly denied. So the next thing, she looked up the side effects and saw everything I have complained about. I really don't want to quit the medication, but I don't want to feel like this for the rest of my life. I will say that all my numbers were decreased by half or better. I honestly don't know if I will continue the drug. Can't stand the pain. I had to go on steroids to help with the side effects. All I can say is this may not be for me, but it does offer really good results. Keep an open mind about it."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I have been living with high LDL my entire life. I had 4 CT heart scans over a 20-year period. Mild plaque burden in one area seen grew to 3 areas. I tried almost every statin on the market. I could NOT tolerate statins. Between muscle aches, joint pain, muddled thought, energy issues. When running to Google my symptoms online, I realized thousands of people were experiencing the exact same. I was convinced all these odd symptoms were from the statins. I was off and on 4 times and subsequently stopped. Note: best blood results were Lipitor, but still MANY unbearable side effects! I ride a bike. I'm athletic. I'm physically fit my entire life. I eat better than most. My blood work with Repatha after 3 months almost seems like a miracle."

For High Cholesterol "This so-called miracle drug is a nightmare. I took two injections one month, it had severe weakness, with muscle pain, joint pain, all kinds of other crazy stuff, etc. I stopped taking it because of the high cost and then took another one about three weeks ago. This drug can cripple you and make you feel malice all the time! Needs to be removed from the market…"

For High Cholesterol "Started Repatha in November of '21 because I could not tolerate statins. Too much muscle pain and spasms. I was prescribed one Repatha injection every two weeks. After the first month, I started having fatigue and joint pain. Needed a cane to walk, and after 4 months, can now barely walk. I need a walker now. Constant pain in almost all joints, swollen knees, muscle spasms. Had my last injection a week ago and now understand why I’m in such agony. Hopefully, the drug will be out of my system in 3 months and also hope there is no permanent damage. Will have to use diet and exercise (if I can ever walk again) for cholesterol. Repatha is poison. My cholesterol has been reduced. Quality of life dropped with the cholesterol. Very poor trade."

For High Cholesterol "My cardiologist put me on Repatha after not seeing the improvement in bad cholesterol numbers that he wanted. While not great, my number was always between 100 and 150. I am also on 40 mgs of Crestor daily along with a beta blocker. I began taking Repatha 3 years ago with no side effects that I noticed right away, other than dry mouth. About 8 months ago, I began getting joint pain in my hips and back but didn’t think much about it, just figuring that I am now 60 years old and it’s probably that. The joint pain and muscle weakness have gotten worse, and I’ve seen my doctor about it, and he said I have arthritis in my hips and to stretch in the mornings. That only made matters worse, so I stopped it after a solid week of stretching. I have now come to the conclusion that it must be the Repatha because I have never felt worse physically than I do now, and I am unable to sleep without taking OTC pain medication. My question: how long will it take to feel better now that I have discontinued taking it?"

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I have been taking it for one year. I had previously experienced unpleasant side effects on several statin drugs, which did not lower my cholesterol sufficiently. I do take Pravastatin as well as Repatha. I had not had side effects from Pravastatin, but it did not lower my cholesterol enough. My blood test results after starting 1 mL Repatha every 14 days (along with daily 80 mg Pravastatin) were the first time I had had sufficient lowering of cholesterol after years of trying. Currently experiencing joint pain, which might not be due to either medication. I just don't know if the pain is a side effect or not."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I was prescribed Repatha for high cholesterol and cardiovascular risk reduction. I tried many statins and Zetia, which all caused muscle and joint pain, along with severe abdominal pain. I was prescribed Repatha a month ago. After the first injection, I felt a little sick about 3 days later. I attributed this to the bugs going around. After the second injection, I became severely sick, foggy-headed, weak, and developed muscle and joint pain, I couldn't even use my right arm due to shoulder pain. I have stopped taking Repatha, but from what I read, it will take several weeks to get out of my body."

For High Cholesterol "I’ve been taking Repatha for seven months, every two weeks, 140 mg. For the first three months, I had mild myalgia and fatigue; not severe enough to discontinue dosing. After that time period, I’ve experienced shortness of breath, severe myalgia, and joint pain. Additionally, my vision is periodically blurry, and I developed a UTI. Recently, I was simply walking, and my right knee popped, causing pain so severe weight-bearing was difficult to impossible. An MRI revealed a torn medial meniscus, sprains of the ACL and MCL, as well as bruising of the medial tibial area. I am scheduled for surgery in two weeks. Unfortunately, my left knee is painful in the same area. I have decided to discontinue this drug and will inform my cardiologist of my decision."
