For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I'm actually looking for people from the UK who are taking this drug. I took the drug for a good few months, my life is hell: chest infections, upper respiratory problems, my liver has shown signs of bleeding, severe lower back pain. I struggle to walk, and if I need to go to a GP appointment, I have to take strong painkillers to enable me to go. I suffer from severe depression, anxiety, joint pain, and swelling of my hands. A few weeks back, I was in A&E as I came out in blisters on my head, arms, and hands. This drug needs to be stopped. Yes, it lowered my numbers, but the side effects are so wrong. PLZ, if there is anyone from the UK taking it, can you write your experience?"

For High Cholesterol "I have had very high cholesterol, and I cannot take statins. My cholesterol doctor recommended Repatha. I have been taking it for about two years now. My cholesterol is better, not perfect. The only side effects I have experienced are some back pain and some insomnia. I can walk two miles without increased pain. My blood work has been good so far. For the most part, I seem to be able to tolerate Repatha much better than statin pills."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I’m an inherent atherosclerosis patient, age 74. I have walked at least a half hour every day since 1997. I underwent quadruple bypass surgery 25 years ago and have been on statins until 4 years ago when my cardiologist prescribed Repatha to lower my LDL cholesterol. This product works great in lowering cholesterol and reducing my LDL under 60. However, I trusted my doctor, who I do not blame for the BAD side effects, as it came with the Big Pharma label as “having no side effects,” and as a new wonder drug with great results, it seemed like a godsend. Please be warned: the toxic effects tend to creep up on most people. I developed low energy levels, muscle aches, joint pain in my hip and feet, and recently severe low back pain with resultant loss of sleep. I also wake at times with severe pain in my hand joints for seemingly no reason. I recently stopped taking this drug on my own and plan on returning to a statin regimen treatment if my cardiologist agrees, but I’m through with this."

For High Cholesterol "I took Repatha for 6 weeks and started to feel lethargic. I also had lower back pain and was lightheaded with bouts of dizziness. After discontinuing Repatha, it took 6 weeks to start to feel better. Repatha was very effective at reducing my cholesterol, but I could not handle the side effects. I just hope that I will eventually feel normal."

For High Cholesterol "I have been on Repatha for about eight months because I cannot take statins. I have had some bad side effects: joint pain, back pain, and continuous sinus drainage. Can go to sleep, fatigue bad. High blood sugar. And I feel it has eaten my stomach lining out. I can't eat much of anything. I have been off of it for 30 days and hope and pray this medicine gets out of my system before 3 months. I will have to see if I can keep my cholesterol down with diet. This stuff feels like it is killing me. Would never recommend it at all."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I have the gene for high cholesterol. I had bad side effects from statins. Livalo was tolerable. Somewhat. I took my first Repatha injection 2 weeks ago. Mild flu-like symptoms the first eve. General malaise after that. Back pain week two. Can't roll over in bed, due to back pain. My eyes are twitchy, blurry, and jiggly. I feel like I have lead in my arms and legs. After reading everyone’s comments, I’m stopping this drug. I’ve always been sensitive to meds. It’s not worth the side effects."

For High Cholesterol "Took 3 shots of Repatha. OK after the first one, but after the 2nd and 3rd, I began to feel bad. Had back aches, soreness in hips and knees. Difficulty in climbing stairs. Blood work showed that it did lower my total cholesterol and LDL. However, I feel that this drug is not worth the serious side effects which I experienced."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I can't take statins. My doctor prescribed Repatha to me and confirmed to me that it has no side effects. I took 3 injections. I started feeling muscle pain and back pain. I felt very weak and fatigued. I checked with my doctor and pharmacist. They said that Repatha is causing these problems. I wish I never took Repatha. I wish someone could tell me how long I have to wait to feel better and get back to normal conditions. It has been 2 weeks since I took my 3rd injection. I recommend that you don't take this drug. It's dangerous. I don't know what to do now."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I had another stent in March of this year. Was put on Vascepa and Repatha. I have experienced back pain and hip pain. Thought it was the Vascepa and called the heart doctor. Didn't think about Repatha. Was told to reduce dosage, but I quit completely. I still have the same pain, but my legs are getting worse, it hurts to walk. Pain in hip bones and back is still there too. Decided to read reviews on Repatha, and I am having identical pain as other reviewers. I am not using it either and see if all this pain goes away. I had bronchitis and some type of flu, also now, I am wondering if this med was what caused that. Why would a heart doctor prescribe two drugs to lower cholesterol? Mine is high from genetics. My doctor said if I didn't get my cholesterol down, I would be back needing another stent, a heart attack, or a stroke. What helps one thing causes something else that's serious. How long did it take after some of you quit taking it for side effects to go away? Hope these drugs don't do permanent damage."

For High Cholesterol, Familial Heterozygous "I have been on Repatha since 12/18. Initially, I had no side effects. Then, after several injections, lower back pain, fatigue, and flu-like symptoms. After my last injection (3 weeks ago), I developed a sore throat with redness and sores. My mouth and tongue are sore as well. Has anyone else had the throat and mouth issues?"

For High Cholesterol, Familial Homozygous "Tried Repatha and suffered a number of side effects. There was a lot of pain and swelling at the injection site. Later that evening, suffered pretty severe abdominal and back muscle pain, headache, exacerbation of asthma symptoms, and general malaise. Most of these symptoms continued for 5-7 days. The symptoms were very similar to those I suffered after taking several flu shots. Figured there might be some connection and discovered they both contain polysorbate 80, an emulsifier. Will not be taking this drug again."

For High Cholesterol "Was going in for a heart cath, put on Repatha because I can't take statins. Dose 1, some diarrhea, mild back pain, and feeling like a kidney stone was trying to move. Dose 2, same feeling as dose 1, seemed a bit worse, wrist, knees, and ankles slightly swollen. Dose 3, two hours after injection, felt like my teeth were 3 inches tall, lost the use of my legs for 5 hours, joints ache and low back pain, 7 on the pain scale. Three days later, upper right quadrant pain, muscle spasms, hurt to walk, knees and feet felt like they were on fire. Nipples are painful, short of breath, and can't get enough sleep, tired all the time. Been to the ER, advised to discontinue Repatha. Been 45 days, still having severe back pain and very short of breath."

For High Cholesterol "The night after the first injection, I had lower back muscle spasms for two hours. Every old injury has flared up, and the lower back pain is unbearable. I've taken ten injections, but this is my last. No one should even attempt to take this medicine, as it will ruin your quality of life."

For High Cholesterol "Since starting on Repatha, I have had extreme fatigue. Had blood work, nothing showed up. Feels like my bones are going to cave in. No strength in overall body. Also have blurred vision and watery eyes. When I wake up, it takes forever to focus. Had an eye exam recently, and nothing shows. Also have back pain and have to lie down."

For High Cholesterol "Horrible low back and leg pain and aching. I have taken two injections. I noticed some minor low back pain in the first two weeks. With the next injection, second week, I have horrible low back pain with spasms that I have not had in a very long time. I do have a low back issue, but the pain has been very different...and constant. I called my doctor's office, they said that's not a side effect of the medication??? Not what I read! So I called Yale Pharmacy, who is dispensing the medication, and they said absolutely it could be, it's not the most seen side effect but definitely could be. I'm 54 years old and I can't live like this! I will not be taking any more injections. They told me it can be 3 months to get it out of my system."

For High Cholesterol "This drug is horrific. I have developed diarrhea, back pain, bloody, watery stool, sick at my stomach, weakness, and flu symptoms. You name the side effect - I got them. I'm coughing so hard I poop myself. Do not take this vile stuff... I give it a 0."

For High Cholesterol "I cannot take statins due to allergies as well as flu-like symptoms, so I was hoping Repatha would be a godsend. Well, that didn’t happen. Soon after taking Repatha, after each injection, I experienced the following debilitating reactions: severe lower back pain, knee pain, extreme pain under both feet, and severe dry eyes! And what’s crazy is the fact that I had to get cortisone injections as a nerve block in my lower back to counteract this medication. And it didn’t work! This really conveys what Repatha can do to your body and its negative side effects! Seek alternatives, please."

For High Cholesterol "After one injection, back and muscle pain was terrible! Also, I told my doctor that my last labs were high because I hadn't fasted. I got labs from fasting back after I took my first injection. I should have waited to take that shot, but the doctor convinced me I needed it. Levels of cholesterol labs were 212 total, 160 LDL, 38 HDL! Didn't even need this poison in the first place! Now counting down the days until it's out of my system."

For High Cholesterol "Took this drug injection for about 8 months. Side effects nearly put me in a wheelchair. Legs collapsing. Was told it was sciatica. Feet so bad I screamed in pain. Was diagnosed with nephropathy and given meds for that. But when I nearly choked to death, one morning woke up and couldn't breathe, my throat had something blocking it. I reached down as far as I could and grabbed hold of what felt like a sticky, almost dry string. I pulled out about 2 to 3 inches, gagging, THAT is what was closing off my breath. No more Repatha!!"

For High Cholesterol "Using Repatha for approx 6 months because me, statins, and my kidneys weren't friends. Pain in my shins (feels like shin splints), excruciating hip pain especially when sleeping (I'm a side sleeper). Pain in thighs as well, hard to walk and get up from sitting. Always feel sore, like I've been beaten up. Back pain, not just lower back but all over. Shoulder and neck pain, could barely turn head far enough to check oncoming traffic when making a right turn. Night sweats. Heart palpitations in the middle of the night. Increased bathroom trips at night. Intermittent diarrhea. It just kept getting worse. As I read the reviews, I have to believe this has been brought on by the bi-weekly injections. Testing for Lyme disease to rule that out. Repatha was great for my numbers, but it's much too painful to continue."

For Cardiovascular Risk Reduction "I commented about 10 weeks back. First week, a few minor blips, but after the second week, a background flu thing going on. I also noticed exacerbation pain of many old injuries. After the second injection, I began to deteriorate. I noticed some mild difficulty swallowing and a feeling of fullness very quickly with meals. The flu feeling got much worse, and I started to get a general arthralgia. After the third injection, I was in trouble with backache, burning when urinating, diarrhea, back pain, tenderness in all muscle groups, and my heart was skipping beats. I felt absolutely dreadful, my consultant stopped Repatha immediately. He declared cogently (urgently) that this reaction was not common. I do have a rare genetic muscle disorder which is subtle. He is just not confident to say that Repatha had caused the problems, but did agree that it may be linked. I can only say that my experience with Repatha was dreadful. Will update second time around. Best, Jim."

For High Cholesterol "The first 4 times I took Repatha, no problem other than slight back pain. I didn't think much of it. I missed 2 doses (1 month) of Repatha because of insurance issues. So I just started again, 4 days ago. I have very bad burning pain on my right hip, more on the bone. The next morning, the burning pain moved up to my ribs and side. I have been taking painkillers to get by. After reading all of the reviews here, I am convinced that my pain is a side effect from the Repatha."
