For Birth Control "This is probably the worst birth control ever made. If I could rate it a negative 1,000,000, I would. I’ve had this birth control for the whole three years because I got it in high school, and I was glad to have something I don’t have to worry about. There are times when I have been on my period for months at a time, heavy and just going through underwear despite wearing pads. I have been on my period since April now, and it’s July. Despite my birth control supposedly ending in June, I will never, ever recommend this to any women. I have gained so much weight from this, my mood is always changing, and my period is always here. I don’t remember a time I wasn’t on my period or spotting. This defeats the purpose of the birth control. I just feel as if this birth control has ruined my body and its balance, everything feels wrong about it, but I get it taken out in a week, so hopefully there are some good things to come out of it."

For Birth Control "I had this birth control put in when I was 17. I am now 18, and I have been having problems non-stop. When I first got it, after a month I wasn't on my period, but not long after I was on my period for 2 months straight, and I have had a few times when it will stop for a little bit, but then come back for a longgg time. I have gained about 40 pounds from this birth control, and I know it's the birth control because I have not changed any way of eating or anything. I'm always sad or mad, I go off so fast over dumb stuff. I wish I would have gotten it out sooner, but I thought it would change. I'm getting it out next month, I can't deal with the rubbish that comes along with this birth control. I would never recommend this to anyone."

For Birth Control "My experience with Nexplanon started out great, my periods stopped, and I was glad for that because I spent my early teenage years through high school with the worst periods. Once a year hit, my experience changed. It started out with spotting, then went into full-blown periods EVERY two weeks. It took me back to the bad days of high school. I am now on medication for the awful anxiety I have since going on this, also, the weight gain I have had has been awful as well. I am very active, and my weight won't budge. I called my doctor first thing this morning to make an appointment to get it removed this week, and I cannot wait to get it out. I do not recommend this birth control at all!!!!"

For Birth Control "I have had Nexplanon for over 2 years. The 1st year, I didn't really notice any side effects. However, the last 6 months, I haven't felt like myself. I feel extremely anxious almost all of the time, which isn't like me at all. All I want to do is sleep. My greatest concern is the way it is affecting my relationship. I also have noticed a steady decrease in my sex drive, have gained 30 lbs, started getting acne in random places (chest/thighs), and my bleeding is so irregular. There are months I bleed for 2 weeks, spot for a few days, then go back to bleeding heavily for a week! It's just weird because I went so long without any negative side effects, little did I know it was the calm before the storm. I hate how I feel and truly wish I would have just stayed on the pill. The side effects for me are NOT worth it! My happiness and quality of life have suffered greatly. I have a gyno appointment next week and am so looking forward to getting it removed. Hoping and praying I return to my old self!"

For Birth Control "I have been on the Nexplanon for about 1 year, almost 2, and I absolutely hate it! I regret getting this! I’m always having terrible migraines every day! Anxiety, terrible depression, weight gain, weakness, numbness, sharp pains in my neck, bad mood swings, always feeling light-headed, and lack of sleep. I can’t wait to get this taken out. I will never get this birth control ever again!"

For Birth Control "This birth control is terrible. I haven't experienced much weight gain, but it's been a couple of months and I'm STILL bleeding. This birth control is literally destroying my relationship. My mood swings are out of control, and I get so sad for long periods of time for no justifiable cause. I take a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant, so I know for sure it's this nightmare. Oh, not to mention the acne... I'm breaking out on my chest! Best of luck to anyone that uses this form of birth control."

For Birth Control "I was on Nexplanon from July to January. It was a good birth control, but I gained around 30 lb., and no matter how much I tried to lose it, nothing worked! I went to my OBGYN, who said, 'there's no evidence that this birth control causes weight gain' and that it's most likely me. Regardless, I had it taken out. It's now July (around 6 months), and I've lost 25 lb. without any exercising or diets. I've almost lost all the weight I had gained from this birth control without changing my lifestyle. I don't care what the doctors say, WEIGHT GAIN IS A SIDE EFFECT. I think my experience definitely proves that. The worst part was the doctor actually made me believe that I just coincidentally gained all of this weight and that I'm just going to have to accept it. I've struggled with having an eating disorder in the past, which the weight gain and feeling hopeless from all of my efforts to try and lose it sent me into full-blown depression! I'm glad I am off of it now and switched to the pill instead!"

For Birth Control "This is awful. I got Nexplanon instead on February 9th, and the first month or so was fine. About a month after insertion, I started bleeding and have not stopped, and it is now June 29th. I have had a constant period for about 4 months now, and honestly, I’m drained. It has completely ruined my sex life, and I’ve spent so much extra money on pads and tampons. Not to mention, this has made my skin break out worse than it’s ever been. I’ve gained a substantial amount of weight in my stomach, and my mood swings have made me flat-out evil. I have an appointment to get it removed first thing in the morning, and I can’t wait to start living normally again."

For Birth Control "Where do I even begin!? When I first got the Nexplanon, I bled for 3 months straight. Had terrible mood swings. Felt depressed. Had really bad abdominal pain. Then everything kind of leveled out, and I liked it for about 6 months. I didn't bleed for a year! But I started gaining weight rapidly. I've never had a problem with my thyroid before, and now I do. I've also started bleeding again (this time for 3 months so far), and it is like a blackish color with a terrible smell, and I've gained 35 lbs! Until I got on this birth control, I was actually down to my pre-baby weight 4 months after my baby was born. Now, 18 months later, I'm almost as heavy as I was when I gave birth. The only reason I'm giving it a 1 is because it has prevented pregnancy. Did I mention that I've had zero sex drive!? Yeah. I know it will affect everyone differently, but I don't recommend this."

For Birth Control "I would highly discourage anyone from getting the Nexplanon. It made my anxiety and depression so much worse. I was feeling suicidal. I gained 60 pounds. I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from getting it."

For Birth Control "This implant ruined my life. I was happy on the pills, needed to take birth control for medical reasons, not just to avoid pregnancy, therefore, I picked this in order to get the hormones I need to not have to take pills. I was bleeding for 50 days, 30 days later, I started again. I gained 6 pounds, my anxiety has severely increased, and I am now depressed. I am urging all women!!! There are so many other ways to avoid pregnancy. Please do not take this implant."

For Birth Control "While Nexplanon has protected me from getting pregnant, I do not suggest it. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy! On top of the uncontrollable periods and cramps that make me vomit, I have also gained 50 lbs in a year. I am not able to remove it. My boyfriend and I want a baby, and when I went to the doctor to get it removed, my implant had moved too deep within my arm. My doctor could only find it by using an X-ray. So she transferred me to the OB-GYN, who said they couldn't do it, so then they sent me to a general surgeon who said they can't do it either. I was then sent to radiology, who also said they won't do it. Now I have to wait a month to meet with a different surgeon. I even tried Planned Parenthood and once again they said they couldn't do it. I'm glad I didn't wait until the third year because if I had, I could be infertile by now. If you are a very active person who uses their arms a lot! I would not do this."

For Birth Control "This implant really decreased my quality of life. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. I had numerous side effects over the course of 1-2 years with the implant. I was only off of my cycle for 3-4 months throughout this period. I also gained 30 lbs and got painful acne all over my face. I started getting headaches, and also lost my sex drive. The least I could say is that it did prevent pregnancy, but it wasn't worth it. Since I've had it taken out, I've lost weight, and my acne has reduced. I'm glad I don't have to deal with any more side effects."

For Birth Control "After having my son in October 2017, I got my Nexplanon implant in December 2017. I was so hopeful as I was told I should not react to it as I did the Depo shot. :( Well, I started bleeding about 2 weeks after and bled nonstop until about midway through April. Throughout this whole time, I experienced mood swings, absolutely 0% sex drive whatsoever, and weight gain (and that's with completely cutting out fried food, sodas, sweet tea, and walking 2.5 or more miles per day). I just had mine removed today. Absolutely would not recommend this to anyone! The ONLY positive thing for me was my milk did not dry up. So I say this: take Nexplanon at your own risk!"

For Birth Control "My experience with Nexplanon is negative, just like most. I've had this in for 8 months, I have a period 2 weeks out of each month. I've gained 25 pounds, I eat clean and work out, and the scale has not changed. I already suffered from anxiety and depression, so it is a little easier for me to cope, but I will say mood swings and anger are just not me and uncontrollable. Most of the weight is in my stomach area, and even with a new diet plan, I have not seen much of a difference. I plan on getting it removed as soon as possible."

For Birth Control "I’ve had Nexplanon for 3 years. I got it for a period that used more than one pad per day for six months. The first six months were great. No side effects. Since then, progressively worse. Months 7-9 used 2 pads a day. Back to GYN, and she put me on a secondary birth control pill! I started having mood swings, depression, anxiety, weight gain. Even when I stopped using the secondary pill, which added to the problem because it brought back unregulated periods. Then the NP said, “Well, I don’t know why she let you get it. She hates it. Never recommends it.” Uhm, what? She practically delivered her recommendation to me on a silver platter! She tells me I should try an IUD, “on top.” No, thanks. Year two got even worse. Year three I think is rock bottom. The worst part, I can’t sort out what’s ingrained in my personality and what’s a side effect anymore. It’s not worth the risk. I constantly battle with hating myself and my body. I am completely unmotivated to do anything."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon is a horrible drug. I put on weight, broke out in spots, and had periods every week. I had none of these problems before, so the side effects are clearly due to the implant. I am a moody witch that goes from angry to sobbing in 30 seconds flat and can't wait to have the implant removed next week."

For Birth Control "Do not, I repeat, do not get this birth control. I’m 23 years of age. Last year, I got the Nexplanon inserted in my arm to prevent any future pregnancy. Now, ever since then, my migraines have been out of control. All I can do is cry and throw up - it literally scares me. I think I have a brain tumor or an air bubble moving around the right side of my brain. I have all the negative side effects, including the heaviness or the feeling of my chest caving in. If I have an anxiety attack, it literally feels like my heart is going to have a heart attack. I’ve been bleeding for 14 days. It makes me depressed. I’ve gained a little weight, but I can’t eat when I have migraines. It feels like they are testing us like lab rats. I’ve never experienced so much pain in my life."

For Birth Control "I am so unhappy with this BC. I have been bleeding almost three weeks now nonstop. I have gained 5 pounds already, extreme stress, and acne. This stuff sucks, and I feel like Drs make a ton of money suggesting this useless BC. They told me that I shouldn’t have any periods with this, which is a full-out lie. I can’t get myself to stop bleeding. Horrible experience, and I plan on calling and telling them to take it out ASAP!"

For Birth Control "I'm 24 years old, and I've had Nexplanon for almost 11 months. Worst decision I've ever made. I had major depression before I got the implant, and the longer I have it in, the worse it gets. I'm more irritable, stressed, emotional, and fatigued than I have been in my life. There are some nights when I honestly hope that I don't wake up the next day. My breasts were awfully tender, and my periods were irregular during the first three months, and then I experienced a fishy brown discharge for six months before my period finally stopped. I've also gained 15 pounds, which, for somebody who didn't even weigh triple digits before this fiasco, is VERY noticeable (my pant size went from a 1 to a 9). Between the staggering depression/anxiety wombo combo, almost completely replacing my wardrobe because I don't fit into anything anymore, a sex drive of absolute zero, and scarcely having enough motivation to keep myself alive, I can't recommend this birth control to anybody in good conscience."

For Birth Control "Despite all the negative reviews I read in my month-long research, I still decided to proceed with Nexplanon. My doctor said the worst that could happen was light bleeding between periods, a little 'sadness', and that I would likely stop my period completely (who doesn't want that?!). He said this would last 3 months and my body would go back to normal. I gave it 6 months before having it removed (painfully) this morning. I've bled for all but maybe 2 days in the last 6 months. The extreme mood swings and depression had me not wanting to leave my bed in the first 2 months. My appetite went through the roof. I'm active and eat very healthy. With my lifestyle, I refused to believe you could gain weight. I did - 10 pounds that I'm still working off. Do not use this method! The reviews are true."

For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon inserted 2/15/17. It was fine at first. It does the job. At first, when I got periods, they were light, and I wouldn't bleed heavy at all. I am currently in the most painful period in a long time. I had breast pain. Acne pops up now and again. I've had random leg pain. I've had shortness of breath. I lost my sex drive, bled from August 4th, 2017, until January 5th, 2018. After this, I bleed for two weeks, get off for two weeks, then it'll come. I constantly feel like I'm on my period. I'm drained all the time. No vitamins help. I'm moody and emotional always. It's made me nervous and anxious a lot of the time. I've gained 25-30 pounds at the most, and it fluctuates all the time. My back hurts all the time. I've been more emotional now than before. I got this because I always forget the pill. That's why I like it. Everyone is different, it doesn't hurt to try and find the birth control that works best for you. I'm planning to get it taken out."

For Birth Control "Terrible. I got it around September, and everything was perfectly fine. I’m gonna say it is effective at not getting you pregnant, but the side effects are awful. I have been a naturally skinny twig all my life, and I have been bloated and gained weight being on this. The worst part is the mood swings and depression. I have been a happy, easygoing person, and after the fourth month of having it, my mood has plummeted. I do not recommend this type of birth control."

For Birth Control "I would not recommend. I got the implant in December of 2016 and I was bleeding for a year straight. I was put on the pill while the implant was in me, but it didn’t help at all. My periods are so random. I have random spotting, and it’s so inconvenient. I’ve gained 35 lbs. I get random dizzy spells and just do not recommend this to anyone."
