For Birth Control "I'm an absolute wreck on this! I cannot stop crying. I lose it over the smallest things and make it into a huge problem. Another huge problem for me is that I've lost my libido since being on Nexplanon, which puts a strain on my relationship. Feeling very anxious too. Booking an appointment to have mine removed. I never put all this down to my implant until speaking to others."

For Birth Control "Wish I would've listened to the reviews I read. This is sent from hell, created by Satan himself. I've had it in for 3 weeks and already seeing horrible side effects most women didn't see until they had it in for months. I'm always tired. Always hungry. It hurts my whole arm that it's in. It's caused achy joints in my knees. Constipation leaving me with awful bloating and gassy pain in my stomach. It still feels bruised. My sex drive is completely gone and I can't even have an orgasm anymore. I have no interest in my boyfriend and this all started a week after this thing was in. I'm calling to get it removed today. I can't stand it anymore and it's not going to ruin my life. Try it if you dare, but I would not recommend it."

For Birth Control "Okay. So I joined the military, and they recommended this form of birth control to me because 'it was supposed to stop your period.' There were 'no side effects.' Literally, I bled for over a year, and maybe 3 months of the entire year, I would get a week break. Literally not even worth it. I would bleed so much, my mood swings were terrible, the depression was horrible, and I would not recommend this to anyone. I'm currently on Skyla IUD, and I find it soooo much better. I did not get pregnant on this form of birth control, mainly because I didn't even want to have sex. It kills your sex drive, makes you feel like you're going insane. 3 days after getting it removed is when I finally stopped bleeding, and I felt like a completely different person."

For Birth Control "I wanted to wait some time before I gave an initial review. I got the implant in April and will be getting it taken out this Saturday. I will start with getting it placed, it was very short. I was given a local anesthetic, and the nurse waited for about 15 minutes until it was completely numb. That was the easy part, I had no pain at all, just some soreness at the incision site along with bruising. A week later, my hell started. I was on my period for 2 weeks straight with very bad cramps and mood swings. In month two, I had sporadic spotting and full-blown periods, hair thinning. It also caused a lack of sex drive, and I started to have headaches every day. Yes, it prevented pregnancy, but to me, it isn't worth the side effects. This thing is the worst."

For Birth Control "At first (2 months in), it was fine, no bleeding, nothing. After those two months, my periods started lasting longer and longer, up to 3 months long at a time. I hate everything about it. I'm gaining weight, my acne is at its worst point, and I have zero sex drive. I hate my life. It's living hell. My cramps are so bad that I'm crying on my bed all day. It's a stabbing pain! Honestly, pregnancy sounds a lot easier than this. The birth control ends up not being the stick in your arm but the person you become, from your looks to your personality. STAY AWAY FROM THIS."

For Birth Control "I had Nexplanon for almost 2 years after having my son. It was great from 18 months or so with no bleeding, but I noticed a lack of sex drive, mood swings, and extreme exhaustion with no ability to sleep at night. I had it taken out weeks ago because I bled 3 weeks out of the month for a few months, with horrible breast tenderness and cramps like never before. I still have all the symptoms but short periods frequently instead of long ones. I can't say I wouldn't recommend because everyone is different, but I'm not okay with any extra hormones in my body anymore."

For Birth Control "Got this BC in July, since then, I've nonstop bleeding, literally, NONSTOP, zero sex drive. I've gained 35 pounds, and NOTHING takes it off. I haven't weighed this much since I was pregnant! Hell, I even look pregnant! Even feel like it - always so tired! And moody!!!! I do not recommend this!!! It's nice not to worry about getting pregnant, but I'd rather worry about the pill or NuvaRing than be this depressed and this overweight!!!"

For Birth Control "During my periods, I had intense cramps and heavy bleeding. That's why I chose the convenience of this birth control. I got my implant put in July 31st, 2015. Midway in August, I experienced intense pain while laying down, as if I literally was stabbed. As soon as I got up, I had major shedding of my walls. September 8th, I started my period, ever since then, I have been bleeding. During April, I went to my gyno, and she ran a test stating it could be an infection. Results came back, that's not the issue. I have gained almost 30 lbs during this time. I'm extremely irritable and get upset over the smallest things. I'm no longer able to self-lubricate, which makes intercourse painful. Overall, for me, it isn't worth it."

For Birth Control "If I could give this a zero, trust me, I would. This has literally ruined my life. Aside from no period, everything about this is awful. I have headaches every day, no sex drive, and terrible, terrible thoughts that go through my mind. It has made me very depressed and easily angry, to the point where I cannot control myself nor my actions. It has put my family in danger of ending because the way I act on this birth control is not who I am at all. I get it removed in two weeks, and I couldn't be happier to be back to my normal self. Do not recommend this to anyone."

For Birth Control "Plain and simple, it sucks. Only 8 months in and I want it out now. My acne takes me back to when I hit puberty and worse. It's on my back, which I've never had before. I've gained 15 pounds, no sex drive. None. My depression is worse, and my irritability and mood swings from it are causing friction with my fiancé. Hopefully, insurance covers the cost of taking it out."

For Birth Control "It ruined my life. I am pretty sure that I was blessed with every negative side effect I could get from it. I got it inserted a month after having my daughter, I had lost 10 pounds of my baby weight, and with no diet change, gained that all back with this birth control and then some. I went from 130 to 165. I have horrible depression. I am always fatigued. I have horrible control over my eating and cravings. My anxiety is so intense I can hardly drive anywhere. I have no sex drive and get mad at my husband when he wants it. I am overly sensitive and extremely moody. My hair is thinned and falling out even after switching to better (and pricier) hair products. My skin is always gross. I get one UTI after another (my first ones at that)."

For Birth Control "This birth control is a nightmare. I've had it for about 2 years now. When I first had it implanted, I didn't have a period for about 3 months. After that, I've had my period for the last year and a half. It only stops for maybe a few days every 1-2 months. After my period stops for a few days, I have very bad cramps when it comes back. I also developed very, very bad brain fog after getting the implant. It makes me light-headed and dizzy... so bad that half the time I can't even drive my car! It makes it very difficult to focus. It has also given me moderate to severe acne. I take very good care of my skin, but the acne will not go away. Sex is also extremely painful, I have breast tenderness, and at one point, it gave me vaginitis."

For Birth Control "If I could give this a 0, I would. I decided to get this after being on the pill and then switching to the Skyla IUD, which I also hated and led me to Nexplanon. I was told by my gyn that this would take away my period and result in limited weight gain. I have had it in now for just over 6 months, and I think there have been 4 days total over the course of these months that I haven't been bleeding. 80% of the time I'm bleeding so that I'm soaking through super tampons. My face and back have broken out in acne, something I never really had. I have 0 sex drive (thank god because I bleed too much to have sex anyway) and have gained a noticeable amount of weight. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Stick to the pill!"

For Birth Control "Don't let them insert it. I had this put in when my daughter was six months old. I have gained 15 lbs, lost sex drive, hot flashes, and depression. I feel like I'm losing my mind. I have been on a strict diet, and the weight keeps piling on. I've never been this heavy or depressed. It's not worth it."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon = the worst mistake of my life. I had it inserted in July 2014, removed in April 2015, and I'm still dealing with the side effects today - I'm now being treated for painful cysts and debilitating cramps, and I'm convinced this drug caused them. Side effects included: prolonged/heavy periods (lasting 3-4 weeks), anemia (due to periods), recurrent yeast infections (due to periods), painful vaginal fissures (due to yeast infections), lack of sex drive, constant bloating, rapid weight gain, increased appetite, acne, irritability, extreme mood swings, anxiety, and depression (honestly, who wouldn't be depressed). If you are at all sensitive to hormonal birth control, I do not recommend this drug."

For Birth Control "I will keep this as brief as possible; Nexplanon is ruining my life. In the very short time that I have had this thing in my arm, I have been more emotional than I was when I was 16. I tried two different meds to balance my hormones, but they do not fully work. I had no libido at first, I am breaking out like I just started puberty, and my anger is 10x what it should be. The only perk is that I have no period, but I feel bloated as all hell all the time. I do not recommend this product if you like being sane."

For Birth Control "Got the Nexplanon in March of 2015 after I had my son (my kids are 369 days apart, so I wanted something good), but this has been awful! I have worn a pad for the past year straight. It goes from gross discharge to heavy, heavy bleeding and blood clots. I have awful headaches, acne, weight gain, mood swings that are insane. I'm rarely happy, always in a bad mood-so angry. No sex drive-like don't touch or kiss me. My relationship is horrible, I feel so bad for my fiancé. But even worse for my kids, I flip over ridiculous stuff and yell when I shouldn't. For some reason, I thought to read the reviews, and all these bad experiences are exactly what's been happening. Don't do it. I can't wait to get this thing cut out!!!"

For Birth Control "Absolutely blooming awful! Have had this terrible thing in since January 2015. I kept thinking, no, I'll keep it in, give it a chance! Well, with most of the year and 2 months it's been in my arm, I've spent most of that on my period! Weight gain, something awful. Mood swings, and my doctor told me that's not possible (a male doctor, with no offense meant). How does he know? Did he have trouble with his implant too? Lol, honestly, I wouldn't even recommend this to my worst enemy! No sex drive, and I either want to cry my eyes out or feel like I have no heart because I can't cry! Spotting is putting it mildly. I have had normal discharge to brown discharge, stomach pains, cramps, much worse than usual period pains which have always been bad. Blood clots!"

For Birth Control "I had the Implanon back in 2010-2013. It was amazing, my period was regular with no crazy side effects. So I was expecting similar results when I got the Nexplanon in Sept. 2015. I was wrong. Sure, I didn't have a period since insertion, but the cost was too damn high! I had great skin, but it broke out like I was back in high school (I'm 30). I wasn't super skinny before, but I went from 150 to 175 in less than 6 months with no changes to my diet and workout regime. I had crazy depression and couldn't concentrate on work to save my life. I have zero sex drive. I finally figured out that it was the Nexplanon after talking about my symptoms with a friend. I got it taken out recently, and hopefully things will calm down again."

For Birth Control "I'm 21, and I got the Nexplanon around December of 2015. Insertion was okay, he numbed it, so I didn't feel a thing. Everything was fine, my period started at the beginning of January for like a week. The first few weeks, sex was painful, and every time my boyfriend and I would have sex, I would bleed for about 2-3 days following. Ever since January 18, 2016, I have been bleeding since. Three months without sex, and I'm going crazy, lol. I know it takes a while for your body to adjust to hormones and whatever, but this is extreme, and I'm actually getting it removed to get the Mirena IUD. Hopefully, I have a better experience with it. I was on the pill for about 5 years, but the estrogen gave me migraines."

For Birth Control "I have suffered from extremely heavy periods my whole life, along with PMDD. My husband and I are not planning on having children, and Nexplanon seemed like the best fit for us and also a way to help with the PMDD. I was told by my OB that my periods would most likely disappear, but it was possible there may be some spotting... Not a big deal, right? Welp, I had the implant for 10 months (FINALLY had it removed yesterday). My periods are consistently heavy, lasting 2 weeks to a month with clotting. By heavy, I mean leaking through super absorbent tampons doubled up with pads. My sex drive had dwindled down to nothing. I gained 30 lbs (while still working out Mon-Fri and watching my diet). My face broke out, I developed a rash on my hands....."

For Birth Control "I got my implant in September 2014. In the beginning, I experienced irregular periods, but nothing too alarming. Things started to get bad towards the end of January 2015. I started gaining weight, tired all the time, and my sex drive is almost non-existent! I've gained 23 lbs since then, and no matter how hard I try, I can't lose it, and I just keep getting heavier. I have a ridiculously large appetite, and my acne has become painful and very obvious. I'm not myself anymore. When I'm not working (which I do every day, a very physically active job), all I want to do is lay down and do nothing. I never used to be like this. I'm bleeding almost constantly, and my memory is shot. I want this thing out!"

I am a very healthy eater and exercise regularly. I got my implant taken out yesterday, thank goodness. Absolutely hated my experience."

For Birth Control "I've had this birth control for eight months, and I've been heavily menstruating every day since I've had it. Two weeks after getting it put in, I started bleeding and never stopped; with the exception of a month that I took birth control pills. I also have no energy, have developed anemia, and my sex drive got so low that I actually developed an aversion to sex. This birth control was the worst decision I've ever made. It was my first time trying any type of birth control, and it was not worth it. I haven't been intimate with my husband in several months."
