For Birth Control "I felt the need to share my story with other women looking for a birth control. Please do your research and read the reviews before getting on any birth control. Nexplanon has a lot of side effects. When you get on a birth control, you know that there will be some side effects, but if it affects your mental health, then you need to re-evaluate your options. I had it for two and a half years, and it was very effective as far as keeping me from being pregnant, but I only had my period once, that was when I first got it inserted. In addition, I was having a lot of migraines, weight gain, depression, mood swings, low sex drive, and nausea. I got it removed, and I must say that I am in such a better mood now. I still barely have a period, and it has been 3 months, but my physician said it takes about 6 months for your hormones to get back to normal after removal. I am so thankful that I don’t have it anymore because I am at peace with myself and my family."

For Birth Control "This has been the worst experience with birth control ever. I used to be so happy, and I had the privilege of not really experiencing depression. Ever since I've been on Nexplanon, I became so severely depressed and have such dark thoughts. I have crazy mood swings, and I'm super irritable now. I'm having this taken out in hopes of returning to normal. It works as birth control, sure, but is it worth it having that many hormones in your body and essentially scarring your mental health? Not for me. Also, I gained 15 pounds."

For Birth Control "I've had Nexplanon for about 2 months now. I decided to get it because I would always forget to take my birth control pills. I had no side effects on the pills, so I figured I would be fine with the implant. BOY, WAS I WRONG... I have been constantly bleeding for 2 months and have been wearing tampons every day since I got this thing. My acne has worsened, and I have become so depressed. I'm usually a very happy and outgoing person, but since Nexplanon, my mood is always low, and I have no motivation to do anything. The depression is so bad, and the mood swings make me so irritable and angry, and I will cry at nothing for hours. I'm getting this removed soon and DO NOT GET IT, and if you do and it affects you like this, GET IT TAKEN OUT!"

For Birth Control "This implant is beyond horrible! My doctor suggested this due to my debilitating period pain that would cause vomiting and passing out. After testing for everything and finding nothing wrong, she advised me to get this as it would stop my periods. I bled nonstop for 6 months! My doctor told me that I may be spotting for the first 3 months, so after 3 months passed, I went and saw her to get it removed. She didn’t remove it, but instead, she gave me a birth control pill pack to take as well for one month and assured me this would make the bleeding stop. It didn’t! I couldn’t wait to get rid of this thing. Within a few hours of its removal, I stopped bleeding. Finally! It was 6 months of awfulness. Not to mention bad mood swings as well."

For Birth Control "I just got my implant maybe two weeks ago. It has made me very angry. I even pushed my boyfriend and told him we shouldn't have had a baby together, which is far from the truth and are words I can't take back. One day, it took a lot of talking and attention for me to even be talked out of my fierce rage, which was only triggered by a slight bad mood from my boyfriend and the feeling of being rushed for the daily plan. I embarrassed myself. I feel like my soul is so sad. I constantly have to say I'm gonna be a better person, I'm gonna be a better person, and then one explosive mood pounds me six feet under mentally."

For Birth Control "I used Nexplanon for about 5 months or so, and it was 99% effective in preventing pregnancy, mainly because I couldn't really have sex at all. I was pretty much spotting 3 weeks out of the month and was clear for about one week. I did notice some weight gain, but not much change in mood swings or fatigue."

For Birth Control "DON’T USE NEXPLANON. I got it on June 23rd, 2017. I will get it removed on May 8th, 2019. IDK why I waited this long. I got the BC (birth control) because I have always had really bad cramps. I would miss school when I was younger. The BC is terrible. I have mood swings, I am extremely angry, I am depressed, and I have anxiety. Almost every day I wake up, I don’t want to even wake up. I cry every day. I’m easily overwhelmed and sensitive. I’m so mean to my boyfriend. I don’t like cuddling after sex. I don’t like to be touched, but when I’m away from him, I’m constantly telling him I miss him and want to be kissed all over, but all of that changes when I actually get with him. I push people away, then complain I’m lonely. Whenever I’m mean to someone in my family, I don’t feel bad until after I’ve left them. I beat myself up for being so mean to them, and then I start crying. My boyfriend is probably more excited than I am to get this BC out, lol."

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon in March 2018, so it’s been a year now, and the first 6 months were a breeze. Then I got a period in September, it was my regular 4 days. Then, in October, it was 8 days, November was 12, and now it’s April of 2019, and every month my period varies from 12-16 days. I’ve gained about 30 lbs, I’m always depressed, headaches, nausea, and very bad mood swings. I want to wait until my 3 years are up, but I don’t think I can wait that long. I’m dying. I hate it so much. “It’s a no for me.”"

For Birth Control "I was practicing meditation, healthy eating, and I was a calm and happy person in the whole world. Then Nexplanon changed me into a horrible person with swinging moods, depression, irregular bleeding, cravings for huge amounts of sweets, feeling empty, and asking myself, why am I alive. It is now out of me, and it's been 3 days that I have been clean from Nexplanon. I would NOT recommend this product to anybody, and it must be taken off the market. This causes you to ruin your personality and your life, it's taking your passion and happiness away. Dear ladies, don't choose Nexplanon!!!"

For Birth Control "Nexplanon works wonderfully to prevent pregnancy and did so even when I was breastfeeding. When my baby was 9 months old, that’s when I decided to start weaning him from breast milk and start the transition to part formula, part whole milk. I had started weaning him, and that’s when my uncontrollable bleeding started, and I was just thinking all the hormones must just be what is triggering it, so I continued with the implant. Then, when my baby no longer was on formula and was completely switched to whole milk at age one, and I no longer produced milk, I still had uncontrollable bleeding. I’m talking 25 days or more out of the month of just bleeding and BAD mood swings along with depression, not feeling like myself at all. I knew in my heart something was wrong. Yes, it works wonderfully for preventing pregnancy as I had zero sex drive. Might be different for others, yet it DIDN'T work for me due to too many side effects. Everyone is different, it may work for you, may not!"

For Birth Control "Horrible experience ever! I got Nexplanon last September. The first 3 months were just okay. I mean, I got some headaches, changes in mood, body aches, and got my period every month only for 5 or 7 days, that was okay. In January, I got, for the first time in my life (I’m 31 years old), a yeast infection that would NOT go away and would come back right after every treatment (during two months). I was miserable! Also, I got, for the first time in my life, two panic attacks. I went to the ER, I felt really sick! Depressed, my heartbeat would go up constantly, pain in the arm, insomnia, pain in my breast, pain everywhere! I did not know what was going on with me. I’m a healthy person. Well, I found this place, I read most of the reviews and found that most people experience most of my symptoms. Well, I decided to get it removed on March 29. It has been two weeks without it, and I feel great! No more yeast infections, and all the other symptoms went away! I feel great and happy, and I would NOT recommend this birth control to anyone!"

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon when I was 14. My gynecologist said that there were no side effects. After the implant, everything was fine, then my period stopped and didn't come back for 3-4 months. Once it came back, it didn't stop for 2.5 years. After bleeding for a month, I went to my doctor's office to find out that she moved to Ohio. I went through manic episodes and anxiety. Developed emotional problems. After about a year, I realized the implant broke in my arm. I didn't know that was bad. I ended up gaining 80 pounds within a year and a half. I found a new doctor who removed the implant and confirmed it had broken, and the amount of hormones released from the implant when it broke caused extreme side effects on my body. I had the implant out at 17. I'm now 21, and ever since I got the implant, I suffer from emotional and medical issues that I believe derived from Nexplanon. I have gallbladder issues, secondary amenorrhea, headaches. Please discuss all risks with your provider. Don't let them tell you that there are no side effects."

For Birth Control "I finally got this after months of debating and reading reviews. I noticed headaches right away. 7 months later, my headaches are extreme, as are my mood swings, no real sex drive, I've gained at least 10 lbs. I've always been a very happy person and good-natured person. Now, on this, I've never been so angry and sad. One awesome thing was my period stopped almost immediately, luckily, I didn't get the constant bleeding like so many others. I've been so exhausted and hungry all the time. Lightheaded, dizzy, and headaches are so bad I was ready to take it out myself. I finally got it out today, and I could never recommend. Hopefully, I will feel better soon."

For Birth Control "I got my first implant when I was 17. The first 3 years were great. I never had another period, no other side effects. I got it replaced when I was 20, about a year ago now. About 8 months into the new implant, I transformed into a completely different person. EXTREME anxiety, zero motivation to do ANYTHING, and CRAZY emotional all the time. I have been picking fights with my husband constantly, as I am extremely irritable and angry all the time too, which makes me cry. (I have never been an emotional person.) I will snap for no reason and can feel the anger inside me to where I could probably punch a puppy and feel no remorse. I can't focus, I am constantly fatigued and sad. I skip my classes just because I can't manage to pull myself out of bed. I called my doctor today, demanding they take it out today or else I would cut it out myself (yes, it's that bad, I swear I feel like I'm losing my mind). I am hoping after it's removed that maybe I'll start to feel like a normal person again."

For Birth Control "I’m 25, and I got my implant in June 2018. I was very happy because I didn’t want to deal anymore with pills. I was forgetting to take them, and then the implant was the best choice for me. I got my period after a month of the implant being on my system, and I had it for 3 weeks, the worst nightmare, and it hadn’t come back since that time. I still noticed changes in my body. I used to weigh 150 lb when I got the implant, now I’m 200 lb. I look horrible, my boobs got bigger from DD, I’m now DDD. I had so many mood swings that it really has affected my relationship to the stage that now I’m single and fat. The only good thing about this birth control to me is that you don’t have to worry about taking pills and no period. That’s all. Since that’s not enough for me, I got my appointment next week to remove it. I’d rather have my period and still look sexy than not having it and look like I just ate the entire market. Worst weight gain in my life, never again..."

For Birth Control "Getting Nexplanon was the worst mistake I have ever made! This birth control has been added to the list of high-risk birth control, as I found out, like Yaz, etc. It can cause internal bleeding. The side effects are horrendous, it killed all my libido. I can’t get wet for the life of me. I am so sore down in my private area, and now I’m afraid I am severely depressed. Mood swings are at an all-time high. I've been having like a viral cold and scabbing in my nose non-stop. Back pain, abdominal pain. Constant sugary food cravings, if I don’t eat chocolate every day, it feels like I am going to freak out. They said it should balance out after 6 months, I had it for 10, and it only got worse!"

For Birth Control "I read both positive and negative reviews before trying Nexplanon. It was fully covered, and my OB-GYN had all good things to say. The procedure was easy, and I was optimistic. It ended up being the WORST medical decision ever. I bled non-stop for 5+ months. My mood swings were unreal, and I felt like a different (psycho) person! I cried when I was upset and even when I was happy. My relationship suffered because of the mood swings. I tried to “hang in there,” as recommended, but after over 5 months, I needed it out. It ended up being very difficult for my doctor to remove and took almost an hour of her digging and me bleeding to finally extract it. It took almost another month to start to feel normal again. I know it has worked for some, but for me, it would not be worth the risk! I cannot fully explain how horrendous my experience was, and it wasn’t an easy or quick switch back. My now fiancé (God bless him, lol) and I now joke about the demon the implant made me. Please beware, ladies, and good luck!"

For Birth Control "I was super excited to get this put in after having my second child because I have always been on the pill and hated it. I have had the Nexplanon in for 3 months, and I have been so severely depressed that I had it taken out this morning. I have been in such a dark place for the last several months between that, the extreme mood swings, and bleeding CONSTANTLY. I can say I would never recommend this product to anyone. SO TERRIBLE! If you already have depression or other mental health issues, I definitely would not have this put in."

For Birth Control "I have had the implant for 9 months now. Since I got the implant, I have had CRAZY mood swings, migraines, and severe cramping. Even my depression medications stopped working since I got the implant. At first, the doctor said wait, it will smooth out. Just got worse. For the past 3 months, I have been very nauseous as well as cramping to the point I live off Midol, and migraines that are so bad I stay in bed a lot. This was NOT the medication for me. Time for the removal in 3 weeks. Can't wait to be back to normal. I do not suggest this to anyone I know. Me, my older and younger sister all had issues to the point of removal before a year."

For Birth Control "Horrible birth control. Had massive issues after the first year. I started having seizures that I didn't have before. Mood swings and life in general were a struggle. I now have to be checked by a neurologist every 6 months because of how my body reacted to this birth control. Never again, and I always tell my friends to stay clear of this form of birth control."

For Birth Control "My Nexplanon experiences had been horrible so far. I have had it in for a little over a month and my mood swings are terrible. I have a history of anxiety and depression, and it’s gotten worse, it hasn’t been this bad since middle school. Horrible dark thoughts and just constant crying every day, then two minutes later I’m fine. It has really affected my relationship with my partner to the point of having severe separation anxiety. It was never like this before. I am really considering taking it out, but it’s so frustrating since the reason I started this birth control was because I thought the pill was worsening my depression. I don't want to take it out and look for another alternative because I’m back at square one."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon made me gain 30 pounds and get incredibly moody, angry, and I lost many friendships and a relationship over this. I wish it worked, and it may work for you - just monitor your moods, and if you're worried about weight gain, monitor that too. Once I got it taken out, I basically couldn't eat for about 3 months without feeling like I was going to throw up. NOT SAYING THIS IS HOW IT WILL BE FOR EVERYONE, just be cautious."

For Birth Control "This was the first birth control I got, and it ruined my life. Before Nexplanon, I was healthy, no allergies, nothing. My doctor recommended it, and in the first few days, I was cramping and spotting. The cramping got worse, and the spotting turned into a month-long period. I went back after a month or so to get it removed, and my doctor told me it was normal and I needed to get used to it. I decided to wait, and I would bleed for 2-3 weeks at a time, mood swings, depressed, stomach pain 24/7, and gained 15 lbs the first 4 months. Six months later, I got it removed, but I’m still in constant pain. It’s been 4 years, and I’ve been to the ER countless times, ovarian cyst surgery, and I’m now lactose intolerant, have oral allergy syndrome, endometriosis, and chronic abdominal wall pain. I can barely eat anything without having some sort of reaction/stomach pain, and I’ve had ultrasounds, CT scans, endoscopy, H. pylori tests, and all my doctors can tell me is to “take Tylenol 3 times a day” to manage the pain."

"Insertion and removal was a breeze. Very little pain and bruising. The actual experience of the Nexplanon was horrible! I bled constantly and had cramps for 2 of the 3 years I had it in. It would fluctuate between spotting and heavy bleeding. Like 4 or 5 tampons in 8 hours, bleeding. I was anemic and had mood swings. Would not recommend personally, but obviously every body will react differently to each form of BC."
