For Birth Control "I have had this birth control for 2 years. The insertion was painful, and the side effects were even worse. Unpredictable periods, heavy and bad cramping. Bleeding in between periods at random times. This time around, I have been bleeding for about a month. I already suffer from headaches, and they are worse and more frequent. I have gained 45 pounds and cannot lose weight, and on top of that, I have noticed increased appetite. I go tomorrow for the consult to have it removed. I know of other people that have gotten it removed for the same reasons and had a hell of a time getting it out. I pray it will be smooth, and I can go back to my normal life."

For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon implanted, and immediately after, I started bleeding heavily. I had heavy bleeding for four months after. I also started having severe cramping that was intense, I would gasp for air and be doubled over. I had severe gastro effects as well. I started with one episode a day to multiple episodes a day, where I would start vomiting and have diarrhea for about a half an hour twice a day. I went to a gastro doctor, and everything was fine. Once I got my birth control removed, I went back to feeling 100% fine."

For Birth Control "PLEASE DON'T GET THIS IMPLANT!!! I got it because I’m a very forgetful person, and I figured it’d be much easier and less maintenance than the pill. Boy, was I wrong. Although I didn’t gain weight or break out, I was constantly cramping and PMSing. I had my period for 9 months. I would have a period that would last anywhere from a month to a month and a half, and then about 3 days of no bleeding but a yeast infection. Those 9 months were hell, and they took a serious toll on my long-term relationship. I was bleeding heavily to the point where I was clotting, and I couldn’t tell if I was spotting or if it was my period. I’m now on Junel but still have the implant in my arm. Please don’t make my mistake. Don’t get this implant."

For Birth Control "I've had it for 3 years now. Once placed (if you don't have health insurance or it's not physically killing you), good luck getting it out. Not even after telling them I've been fainting at work and going to the hospital multiple times. The only thing they tell me is, 'Well, you still have 2 more years till we have to take it out, so we have to leave it in.' I've been begging doctors and hospitals over South Carolina and get the same response every time. I've had my period since I got it put in. Imagine being on a heavy-flowing, cramping, ovarian cyst period for 3 years. Yup, that's me. Constant diarrhea, skin rashes, breakouts, cramps, headaches, back pain, dizziness, nausea, fatigue. I will warn every woman wanting to get this NOT to!!"

For Birth Control "I had this for 3 months and bled nonstop. It completely screwed up my hormones. I felt insane and couldn't control my moods. I had horrible cramping, headaches, and bled for 3 entire months, nonstop. When I finally decided to have this removed, it took 1 and a half hours, and my doctor had to cut my arm twice to find it since it had migrated. Horrible, horrible experience. I would never get anything like this again. :("

For Birth Control "I shouldn't have ever chosen this, but there was no way to know how negatively it would affect my body without trying it. The first 6 months weren't bad whatsoever, I was always told to ride out the first 6 anyway, considering your body has to adjust. I stopped having periods altogether, which was glorious. All the other side effects the 3 years afterward... not so much. My breasts drastically fluctuated in size, felt like someone had used them for punching bags. My cramps were painful like never before. Ovarian cysts. Lethargic, my mental clarity was a thing of the past. Acne. Depression. Anxiety. Mood swings like no other. My cycle came back and was heavy and off. Blood clots. No weight gain, but considering everything else, who cares."

For Birth Control "The Nexplanon is plain awful. I'm on my third year, a month from getting it taken out (I've been begging my doc to take it out for a year now and just got OK'd). The first year of it, my period was nuts, either no period or a month-long period, slight weight gain but nothing terrible. Second year, mood swings like crazy, weight gain, and acne. Third year has been the worst. I have no acne, constant mood swings, severe depression despite my life going well, can't stop gaining weight (130 lb before, 185 lb now), bloating, cramps are so bad I've had to miss work. I have acne on my back and face and weird hair growth. I'm growing inch-long black facial hairs on my chin, and I'm a blonde who used to have like no body hair. This birth control has made me suicidal at times."

For Birth Control "Pros: didn't get pregnant. Cons: had to go on the combined pill anyway to stop a constant heavy and extremely painful period. Period between packs of the pill was even heavier and more painful. Took over a week of taking the pill again to make it stop. Awful mood swings. Pain at the insertion site. Once it's in, the NHS will be VERY reluctant to remove it if you have problems. Botched insertion made removal even more difficult when I had to be hospitalized due to the blood loss. Bottom line: don't do it."

For Birth Control "I hated the Nexplanon. I had periods every 2 months or so, which was fine, but I felt like I was pregnant all the time. I had cramps, sore breasts, and my acne was awful when I have naturally clear skin. I was starting to get depression, and my mood swings were so intense. It was starting to take a toll on my relationship with my mood swings, anxiety, and periods of depression, so I got it out to see if that was the issue. I got it out, and months later I feel like I finally have control of myself. I don't feel like I have whiplash from my moods, my libido is back, and my skin is clear again. I'm very happy with my decision to get it out and be hormone-free for a while."

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon in Nov. 2016. I was 107 lbs, now in May 2017, I weigh 145 lbs. I have not changed my eating habits from before Nexplanon. I have tried cutting down on how much I eat and eating healthier, and my weight hasn't gone down at all. I have had a period going on 4 months now with extremely painful cramping. Nexplanon is the worst birth control I have ever had."

For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon put in last June, so it has been almost a year. I had many friends rave about how awesome it was and how they rarely got periods from it. I didn't have a period for a few weeks, but ever since then my periods have been back and they have been worse. I bleed more than I did when I first started taking birth control. I use a Diva Cup, and when I was on the pill, I would barely fill 1/3 of it in 12 hours, now there are times when it overflows in two. My cramps are awful, my breasts are always sore, and I've had to up my medicine for depression and anxiety. I would not recommend this to anyone."

For Birth Control "This by far has to be one of the worst forms of birth control out there. I got the implant on January 29th and then got my period on February 1st and have been bleeding ever since. I've had some of the worst cramps of my life. Not to mention it has caused me to have crippling anxiety and depression. This implant has completely changed how I think. I can't take it anymore. I want to get it removed, but I'm away at college at the moment."

For Birth Control "I would never recommend this birth control. I was very moody on this. I literally always cried about everything. My anxiety got 10 times worse, and I always had my period - literally for 22 days and then didn't for 5 days and then got it again for 18 days, and this would happen every month ... My boobs always hurt, and I was always very tired. My cramps got worse. I had the worst experience with this birth control."

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon about a year and a half ago, and I cannot wait until I get it removed. I get frequent migraines, I am having problems fighting depression and major anxiety. I have acne all over my face, my shoulders, my back, and it's even started on my stomach area. I have my period for about 3 weeks every month, and it's not just spotting; it is extremely heavy, and I have cramps constantly. My sleeping habits are way out of whack; it's either I want to sleep all day or not at all. My appetite has skyrocketed, and I feel like I can never get enough to eat, and yet I've lost a TON of weight since getting it. I have absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. I would never in a million years recommend this to anyone. I hope this gave some insight."

For Birth Control "I had this implant fitted in my arm on Friday. Since Monday, I started developing a very nasty rash on some parts of my body, I had my eyes so swollen I couldn't even open my eyes. Doctors prescribed me steroids and everything, but they can't seem to do anything. It's Friday night now, I am itching like mad and having horrible cramps!! My lip got so swollen I couldn't even speak yesterday! I lost my food appetite, and I am absolutely out of words how much stress it caused me! I never in my entire life suffered from eczema or hay fever and never had any allergic reaction to anything! Wanted to be removed ASAP!!"

For Birth Control "In addition to the very, very long periods, pain every day, weight gain, and fatigue. I also experience mood swings, which also have been very unhealthy for my relationship. I felt like when I started having hunger pains, or when I got so extremely stressed out, it would trigger my period. I could be on at nighttime, wake up off, go to work, and start stressing, and then my period always comes when the stress does. I'm forever cramping as if I'm on my period."

For Birth Control "Terrible! The first year was okay, I gained weight, though, but I didn't have periods. But the second year is a nightmare! Irregular bleedings, pain, cramps, and mood swings. Painful pimples appeared every time I had bleedings. Now I can't wait to remove it. I hope that I will recover. Never recommend to anyone!"

For Birth Control "I have had nothing but bad problems since I got it. I bleed really heavy for three weeks at a time. I've had it for six months and I'm going to get it taken out. I'm losing hair like crazy and have cramps all the time. I go through 3 boxes of 46 overnight pads a month. It's bad. And I'd never suggest anyone get it."

For Birth Control "This was horrible. I had constant bleeding for 7 months, cramps, and headaches. My local doctor inserted it too deep, and I drive 70 miles away to the nurse midwife that delivered my child so that she could remove it. It took her over an hour to get it out. Scar tissue had to be ripped off to free it from my arm. I do not recommend this horrible little device."

For Birth Control "Worst experience I've ever been through, I got my implant a month ago and hopefully getting it out today. Since I got the implant, I've been on my period heavy. I would get really bad headaches, mood swings are horrible, and no sex drive at all!! When I would have sex, I'm not really in the mood and it's so painful, my boyfriend feels so bad that it hurts. I get really bad cramps and I'm always nauseous, and I've been throwing up more than usual. My anxiety is through the roof. I was 120 pounds when I got the implant, and now I'm 105. I'm trying to gain weight but still losing weight. It does prevent pregnancy really well, but the side effects are too much for my body to handle, every woman is different. I'm going back to the Depo shot hopefully today!!"

For Birth Control "I put the Nexplanon in August 2016 and had it removed in October 2016. 31 years old, no kids yet. Very little after I had the Implant Nexplanon put in, I started bleeding black blood with cramping for now 10 weeks plus. I went to the doctor three times complaining of pain and bleeding black stinky blood, and those times I was told by 2 different gynecological doctors that it was fine and it would go away in time. Well, it didn't. Even now that it's been removed a little over more than a week, I am still bleeding today. Finally, I went to another doctor who decided to do a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound, and he said that it worked too well, that my endometrium normal size is 8mm minimum and mine is now 2mm, so thin blood is going through. Risk of infertility."

For Birth Control "I was on Nexplanon for 3 months. For the first week, I felt alright, but I started to feel like a slow fog was building around me. I bled for the entire 3 months while I had Nexplanon. It was a constant bleed, with minor cramps. But that was not the worst part of it, the worst part was the severe, severe depression that happened. I felt like I was in a constant state of a bad dream and couldn't see my way out of it. I was bleeding non-stop and felt horrible the whole time, so no sex drive at all. I would HIGHLY suggest any women thinking of trying this to reconsider."

For Birth Control "I had my Nexplanon inserted in the beginning of March. It's now September. I've lost a tremendous amount of hair, I've been on my period for 3 (long) weeks. I break out a lot more. My periods are completely irregular and come whenever they please (and apparently come to stay). My cramps are just awful, and they're newly accompanied by back pain. Add to that daily migraines-may be caused by anemia, though I'm not sure. Just overall an awful experience. I can't wait to take it out."

For Birth Control "What a nightmare. I have had bleeding nearly nonstop since insertion 2 years ago. Give it time for your body to adjust, after 6 months, I was told. Then give it a year. Finally, I had a gynecologist agree to remove it. It has been effective as birth control considering I have only had a handful of weeks out of two years I have not been bleeding. And I'm not talking spotting, I'm talking period-like bleeding with cramps. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and don't even know why it's been approved."
