For Birth Control "I don't typically leave reviews for things, but I felt it was absolutely necessary after my experience with Nexplanon. I received the implant a week after my daughter was born. I had a traumatic delivery and was instructed to not get pregnant for two years. The Nexplanon was recommended to me because of how effective it is at preventing pregnancy. While it was absolutely effective in preventing pregnancy, the side effects were not worth it. I bled almost daily for eight months. During this time, I had low sex drive, increased anxiety, mood swings, and intrusive thoughts. I'm thrilled to say that I had the Nexplanon removed last week. The bleeding is nearly over, and I already feel less anxious. I do not recommend this product, especially to women prone to anxiety and mood swings."

For Birth Control "Nobody will tell you the truth behind this product. It goes into your arm, so it must not be noticeable, right? Nooope. The whole basis of its advertising couldn’t be farther from the truth. I’ve had Nexplanon for almost a year, and I STILL haven’t been able to exercise using that part of my arm or sleep on that side, sometimes I’ll literally wake up to move my arm. In the shower, I have to try not to bump it, and I cannot comfortably cuddle with my bf because it’s so sensitive. The doctor told me I’d only have irregular bleeding during the first month, and that was another lie. To this very day, I still experience irregular bleeding each time after unprotected sex and even when I’ve abstained for weeks. This product does a great job at preventing pregnancy, and does an even better job at turning you into a psycho. Never-ending mood swings, disorientation, abusive behavior, you name it. This birth control should have never been glorified or approved by anyone."

For Birth Control "This is my second term of Nexplanon. The first 3 years I was on it, it went smoothly. I didn’t have any issues at all. But this go around, it’s been so bad!! And I’m getting it removed in 5 days. I have extreme acne, and this is the first time I’ve had it like this ever! No matter what I do, it won’t go away. I’m at my heaviest, 220 lbs, I feel so disgusting! I’ve changed my diet, and I exercise, but still can’t lose any weight! I have crazy mood swings, I’m always depressed and mad. I have no motivation to do anything. I’m always tired. I didn’t even know I had anxiety until now. I have bad migraines every single day. I bleed for about 27 days at a time, heavily at that. And my period is unpredictable. This birth control is a nightmare!!!!!"

For Birth Control "I tried Nexplanon despite all of the negative side effects my friends told me about because everyone is different, right? Well, I got it two months ago and will be getting it taken out this month. The day after I got it, I got my period and have been bleeding every day since! Two months of being on my period has cost me lots of money between tampons and pads and underwear! I have been extremely moody, I get random spouts of depressive episodes, and I've always had anxiety, but it amplified this for me so greatly. This is awful. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, and I will probably be going back on the pill after this."

For Birth Control "This is a nightmare!!! I had a friend who had the implant at the time I was pregnant, and I was doing research about what contraceptive I could use after having my son. She shared her experience about how this implant worked wonders, she had no periods, no cramps, it worked great for her. So I thought I would give it a try. It was the worst decision I have ever made in my 32 years of living. I had my son, and then in January, went and had the implant inserted in April. I bled for 15 days after already bleeding on month's end after my C-section. Then I went two months without bleeding. After those 15 days, I was so happy to have no bleeding for those 2 months. Then, on July 16th, I started bleeding, and I bled until August 31st. I believe I would have still been bleeding had I not called the doctor to prescribe me something to stop the bleeding. I was losing my mind every day going to use the bathroom, wipe, and find blood. For 3 months, I was so irritated. I only had two weeks of relief and started back bleeding on September 16th, still bleeding 11 days in."

For Birth Control "I started with Nexplanon immediately after giving birth to my son. It was already enough that I was super emotional throughout my pregnancy, but to continue being so emotional while having this implant was too much. There were times I felt depressed, cried so much even for the littlest things! The feeling of depression really did it for me because I have been on oral BC and never experienced that. At first, I thought it was just the postpartum, but 7 months later, no more postpartum and still the same feelings. The cramps are ridiculous, I bled for 7 months straight (spotting) after having it put in, I have my menstrual now and it’s going on 2 weeks of torture. I guess everyone has different experiences, but mine wasn’t pleasant with this one."

For Birth Control "My experience on Nexplanon was very similar to some of the others on here. I have always struggled with mild depression and anxiety, but within months of getting Nexplanon I was severely depressed and angry almost all the time. I was literally suffering while using this product. I have tried multiple other forms of hormonal birth control and never experienced anything like this. On top of the mental illness, I also was bleeding constantly for the first two months, my gyno put me on the pill on top of the Nexplanon for a few weeks to stop the bleeding. It also made my cramps much, much worse. It was literally the worst point in my life. I got it removed after six months because the side effects I experienced outweighed the benefits. I had some friends that have tried it and it worked for them just fine, but I definitely would not recommend it if you have a history of mental illness and painful periods."

For Birth Control "I got on Nexplanon for the first time (and my first time being on BC in general) in March 2021. It's now August 2021, and I am bleeding for months on end. I drank a bunch of water to see if that would help stop it, and it did for only about a month before the bleeding kicked up again. It's mostly spotting, but some days I get cramps with actual bleeding happening, and I'm incredibly frustrated that I have to waste so much money on pads. I feel absolutely disgusting bleeding so much. I wish the official website for this wretched thing would give you a lot more information than is provided. I feel disgusting with this. I get weird pains in my inner thigh that I had never gotten before Nexplanon, and that worries me. Also, my boobs hurt so bad. All of this is very annoying and frustrating, and I want to rip my entire arm off. I'd rather deal with painful and heavy periods than this again. Just don't get it. Please, save yourself the trouble and just get the pill."

For Birth Control "I was on this birth control for a little over 6 months, and all of it was extremely awful. For example, I bled every day for almost three months straight, and when I asked my gyno, they said it was normal (?!) and that it was okay. Not only that, but I was heavily depressed during this time, and it did not only affect me but my family. When I got it out, things were so much better, I am back to being usually my happy self."

For Birth Control "DO NOT GET THIS BIRTH CONTROL IF YOU HAVE ANXIETY!!!! I know the story might be different for everyone, but I've always had mild anxiety issues. When I went to get the implant inserted, the doctor severely downplayed the side effects. She said that it would only mildly heighten my anxiety. Not true. For the last 2 months (ever since I got it), I've been dealing with extreme anxiety, panic attacks, feeling like I'm dying or the world is going to end. It's borderline psychotic. I can't do anything anymore without something setting me off into a panic attack. And not to mention the bleeding. I have had constant bleeding ever since my first period on the Nexplanon. Constant, heavy bleeding. Not spotting. They don't tell you how this can really muck you around."

For Birth Control "I wanted to comment on this because I think it’s just like the old Norplant I had, and the horrible symptoms are the same! I had this implanted years ago under the name Norplant. I can’t say it’s exactly the same, but it sure sounds like it. It was implanted in my arm and was supposed to last 5 years, and all I did was bleed the entire time. I was even more depressed than I already am, and I just couldn’t take it anymore and had it removed early. Looks like they may have relabeled that, and here it is again ruining lives! Stay away from these implants. It’s horrible because if it doesn’t agree with you, you’re kind of stuck. My insurance paid to have it placed but wouldn’t pay for the removal, so keep that in mind. Maybe check into that beforehand so if you have issues, you will know how you will pay to get the removal."

For Birth Control "This thing has made me insane. Hot flashes, constant bleeding for nearly two months, mood swings, and I’m not talking like little ones. I mean straight happy to completely psychotic over the littlest things. I have never felt so enraged over anything in my life, it’s scary. I also get dizzy and sick randomly. I’m actually scared to drive because I feel like I’m going to pass out at the wheel. I’ve passed out more than once just from standing up. This is a horrible option, and I’d advise anyone considering getting it not to. For your health in every aspect, your family and loved ones, please do not get this little lump of nightmares implanted into your arm."

For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon in December, and it has been awful ever since. I haven’t stopped bleeding the entire time I’ve had it, so my doctors put me on a birth control pill to regulate the bleeding. Safe to say I feel crazy. The whole reason I got the bar in the arm was so I didn’t have to take a pill! Over the past few months, I have been increasingly becoming sadder and sadder. It’s to the point I don’t even want to be here anymore. I pick stupid fights with my boyfriend and get mad over things that don’t even make sense. I am terrified he’s gonna leave me because he never knows what mood I am going to be in when he calls me. It feels like I’m self-sabotaging my entire life. I read a review on here that is posted further down, the woman described it as split personality disorder and being stuck in a mood you simply cannot escape. All of that is true. I will be scheduling my removal ASAP. The side effects aren’t worth it."

For Birth Control "Severe depression, anxiety, and meltdowns, bouts of crying, started losing joy in the small things, bleeding for weeks, then nothing, and heavy bleeding again. I have always been a happy person until about 2 months in when I started feeling snappy, angry. My blood pressure was very high, and it made me want to eat CONSTANTLY. I've gained 40 lbs in the 7 months, no sex drive. It's been 2 months since we've been intimate. No rational thoughts in my head, and I'm constantly irritated, exhausted. Horrible acne, and I can feel my uterus pulsing constantly, periods are random, painful, heavy. I've developed panic attacks and have had 4 major ones since Dec 2020. I hardly have any happy thoughts. This implant has taken every bit of me and turned it into something I don't recognize. I can't even enjoy being a mom, and that is the ultimate reason I've chosen to get it removed. I had it removed today. I don't recommend this BC, even though everyone is different."

For Birth Control "I wish I would've read these reviews earlier. I'm relieved to know I wasn't losing my mind and that it was this drug. It all makes sense now! I've never been so depressed in my life! I was wondering what was wrong with me and why I was losing interest in life altogether. I couldn't think, I couldn't sleep and had zero energy, mood swings... I had it removed after only 7 months due to bleeding almost incessantly for 3 straight months. I guess it makes great birth control if you can never have sex, lol. I feel like it has damaged my relationship with a very special person. I would spot all the time and think it stopped, but when it came to intercourse, it was like a full-on period. We tried several times and it kept happening. I've never been more embarrassed and mortified. It was a fairly new relationship, and this drug has taken a huge part of what should have been great about it away from me. I'm so disgusted and angry that they can even sell this."

For Birth Control "I recently got on this birth control after using it for the second time. The first time I was bleeding for 6 months straight, nonstop. I had it removed and tried different methods. The last method was pills, but I was never good at taking pills, so I tried Nexplanon again. This time around, it is horrible. I’ve been on it since May 12, 2021, and it’s now June 10, 2021. I’m a single mother of 4 kids, and this is the worst feeling that I have ever experienced. I would not recommend it, especially if you suffer from anxiety already. I was thinking the most unthinkable thoughts, and controlling them was the worst part because you can’t get out of your own head! I felt trapped in my thoughts, couldn’t sleep, back pain, cramps, night sweats, cold then hot, shaking, nervousness, bathroom issues, dizziness, couldn’t eat, fatigue, crying, panic attacks, feeling lost, no energy. I couldn’t even find myself to talk to my kids-sad, scared, worried, sore throat like I’m sick, chest pain, it’s not worth losing your mental stability."

For Birth Control "I had the implant removed after 5 months. I have bled constantly for the last 4 months, with on-and-off heavy bleeding every single day, painful cramps, and passing clots on and off. I had the implant put in to try to treat my very heavy periods and severe anemia. I started to feel really exhausted in the last few weeks and decided to have it removed. The doctor mentioned the bleeding has a good chance of settling down at the 6-month mark, but I didn't see that happening for me. I was just so exhausted, and it defeated the purpose for me."

For Birth Control "It was horrible, not motivation for everything! Ruining my relationship with my partner, now ex. I bled since the day I started it, November 22, since the day I got it removed, April 7. My libido was gone, I was no longer sexually interested. I was depressed, suicidal, the mood swings were so bad, dizziness, weakness, and a lot of sleeping. I felt like I would just sleep my life away, but at least I’m not pregnant. It’s different for everyone, but I 100% do not recommend."

For Birth Control "Horrible! I got the Nexplanon 2 weeks after having my daughter in April 2020, and it is now April 2021, and since giving birth, I have not stopped bleeding. In a year, I have maybe not been bleeding a total of 3 weeks. And in between bleeding, there has not been a let-up in the cramping, bloating, and extreme fatigue. I have gained weight since giving birth (I do not overeat or eat extremely unhealthy), and I am a pretty active person. I have also broken out worse than a teen, and I’m 30 years old. I am constantly either very irritable or just numb, I have zero libido, I have anxiety, and just overall unhappy! I do not recommend this to ANYONE. I have an appointment today to talk to my doctor about removal."

For Birth Control "Don't do it. This thing should come with a health warning. I have had the implant for 6 months and have bled every day since I got it, not even light bleeding that you could live with, heavy bleeding. My mood has changed, I am normally a very positive, easy-going person. Since having this inserted, I spend most of my days crying, getting angry-I am not an angry person-and feeling suicidal, and that is scary. It has got to the point where my two kids are even asking, 'Are you okay today, mummy? Why are you crying, mummy?' I have spent days just sitting, crying, or extremely anxious. I have contacted medical services to get it removed and have been put on a waiting list. Also, I have put on over 20 lbs, considering that I haven’t been overeating, and no matter what I do, weight does not shift. My advice would be to stay clear, the implant is purely awful and just not worth it."

For Birth Control "I've taken Seasonique continuous birth control for 4 years and decided to switch to Nexplanon in hopes to stop withdrawal bleeding altogether (or at least very light bleeding). This birth control has been a nightmare. I gained 20 lbs in 3 months I was on it without any change to my eating habits (I'm currently on the keto diet to combat the weight gain, and my weight has remained stable). What's worse than the weight gain is how I'm bleeding almost every day on this birth control. Some days it will be spotting, other days it will be a full-fledged period with extreme cramping that wakes me up in the night. It feels like the bleeding NEVER ENDS. I'm afraid to wear any of my new underwear because of it. I'm counting the days of my removal (in a week - yay!) and I will be going back on the 3-month pill Seasonique as it gave me no weight gain and no spotting whatsoever (besides on inactive days)."

For Birth Control "I've been on Nexplanon for 4 months at this point, and I've been bleeding 95% of the time. To say that it's “inconvenient” is to say NOTHING. More than that, my mental health is a complete mess right now. I went from being a light, positive, energetic person that brings happiness to everyone around to a totally crazy one. Mood swings, depression, hysterical crying for a reason and no reason at all, suicidal thoughts... all of these are my besties right now. I wake up with them in the morning, and I go to sleep with them at night. I pushed away everyone... my friends, my family, my fiancé. We had the most beautiful relationship that now turned into constant fights and misunderstandings, and all because of me. I didn't really link all of that to the implant at first, but after reading other women's experiences, I can definitely see a lot of similarities, which led me to the decision to remove it ASAP. I have my appointment in 4 days, and I honestly can't wait to become myself again."

For Birth Control "I had the Nexplanon implant put in right before I went to college. I thought that the mood swings, impulsivity, anger, and overall lack of control over my emotions were the product of being a freshman in college. A year later and it has only gotten worse. I have no control over my emotions, I sob hysterically over little things, I have constant anger and aggression, depressive episodes, and I experience irregular bleeding, breast tenderness, and back pain. I barely recognize myself at this point. I'm getting this implant removed ASAP and looking into other forms of birth control. I truthfully believe something is wrong with this method of birth control. It is not worth"

For Birth Control "I started getting terrible side effects. Ridiculous mood swings, rage, social anxiety (I'm usually a social butterfly), depression, suicidal thoughts. I got a period/bleeding/spotting for 30 days straight, constantly exhausted, fatigued, lost my sex drive, very constipated and bloated, nausea. Because of the way I was reacting, I at times thought I was pregnant, so add in constant pregnancy scares. Hair was shedding like crazy. I have now fallen out of love with my boyfriend, I am unsure if this relationship will survive. He has been nothing but absolutely supportive and caring, but I've tried to break up with him at least 6 times in the last 2 months. I got the implant out after 3 months and now am on nothing. Everyone is different, trust your body and gut. Nothing says 'effective birth control' better than being super gassy, bloated and constantly cramping from not being able to poop around your new significant other, lol – can't get pregnant if you don't want to have sex, lol."
