For Birth Control "Ok, so it's been about a month since I got the Nexplanon. I read the reviews prior to insertion but felt it was too late to back out. I was on the depo shot prior, which completely stopped my periods, but going in every 3 months was annoying. Now I want this thing taken out. I've never had acne since back in high school, which even then wasn't bad, but within a week, I got bad acne on my face, back, and chest! I started bleeding one night thinking it was a period, but it was just spotting, and I have been spotting nonstop since. It's been 6 days now, and spotting does not stop, might as well be a period. Can't wait to go back and get this removed. I don't want to go through what all these other women have gone through! Don't get this, stay away."

For Birth Control "I got this late 08/2017 and reviewing 12/2017. I was on my first day of my period when I got it in. During the first week, I noticed my anxiety spiked up. After that, I felt nothing out of the usual. After a couple of weeks, I noticed and still experiencing now: 1. Days to get a bowel movement, 2. Pain at the implant site, 3. Irregular light periods that last 6-8 weeks, 4. Gained 10 lbs, 5. Slow metabolism, 6. Acne, 7. Pain/swelling on areolas along with tender and sensitive nipples a lot of the time, 8. Severe depression, 9. Suicidal thoughts, 10. Daily naps 2x a day, 1.5-3 hrs long each, 11. Period pains, 12. Fatigue, 13. Always hungry, 14. Mood swings."

For Birth Control "I've had this since 07/24/15. The effects of this are actually ruining my life and have my judgment so clouded I can't tell up from down. I had no idea that the problems I've been having started only 2 months after I got implanted. My life has been in shambles. I don't even know how I could possibly tell everything. It has made me so mentally unstable that I have ruined my entire life. My relationship of 7 years is down the drain. I lost my job and my insurance. I've never done drugs in my life and became an addict very soon after the implant. I've been clean for over a year now and still can't pick up the pieces. I doubt myself and everyone around me. I've gained weight, acne, headaches."

For Birth Control "This is the worst. Previously, I've used the pill (multiple forms) since I became sexually active, and while I didn't love having to take it every day, the side effects were minimal. After having my first child, I had my Nexplanon inserted, thinking it sounded like a great long-term solution to contraception. I knew at first there would be side effects, and they did clear up within a few months. However, the longer I had it in, the worse things got. It's been nearly 2 years now, and I have major depression, almost constant bleeding, and mood swings I'd almost describe as mania. I experience acne, which I've never had to deal with before, my smell 'down there' has changed (no infection or anything), and my sex drive is ZERO. I'm getting it taken out!"

For Birth Control "I've had it for 3 years now. Once placed (if you don't have health insurance or it's not physically killing you), good luck getting it out. Not even after telling them I've been fainting at work and going to the hospital multiple times. The only thing they tell me is, 'Well, you still have 2 more years till we have to take it out, so we have to leave it in.' I've been begging doctors and hospitals over South Carolina and get the same response every time. I've had my period since I got it put in. Imagine being on a heavy-flowing, cramping, ovarian cyst period for 3 years. Yup, that's me. Constant diarrhea, skin rashes, breakouts, cramps, headaches, back pain, dizziness, nausea, fatigue. I will warn every woman wanting to get this NOT to!!"

For Birth Control "Honestly, my time on Nexplanon was awful. My period was irregular, but when I got it, the bleeding would last for 3 weeks at a time. I had to have a tampon in 24/7. I followed my typical eating habits and workout schedule and gained at least 20 lbs in a 6-month time span. I got the worst acne of my life, honestly, so bad, and had literally zero sex drive, so there was no point for this thing. My mood swings were insane, and I honestly felt like a different person. I kept waiting to get it out, thinking these things would have to resolve, but nope, never did. Thank goodness my removal was easy! I got it out, and things went back to normal relatively quickly. I know everyone reacts differently to birth control, but I would not recommend even risking it."

For Birth Control "Getting this implant in was a huge mistake! I was spotting most of the month following my period. I can't waste so much money on pads! And the acne. Oh my goodness, my skin was ravaged. I broke out in HUGE cysts. Now that it's out, the cysts are gone, but I have deep pitted scars that are probably going to need laser treatments in order to get rid of. The only good thing is that you can just have it inserted and forget about it. I'm going to try the copper IUD next since it doesn't have any hormones."

For Birth Control "Also experienced the same nasty side effects as so many others: weight gain, hormones, acne, migraines, fatigue, and complete loss of libido. I gave it nearly a year in the hopes the side effects would balance out, but I continually felt worse. I can hardly wait to get this crud out of me!"

For Birth Control "I had Nexplanon in for about two years and had it removed 5 months ago, best decision I've made. For some, I could see how it was awesome if it worked. For me, though, I had all the side effects: acne, no sex drive, mood swings, fatigue. If you have any of these, I bet it's the implant. My roommate had the same issue, no sex drive, etc. Got it removed, all side effects went away! Feel so much better now!"

For Birth Control "I had my child April 27th, 2016. I had my Nexplanon placed at my 6-week checkup. So I've had my Nexplanon in for over a year. From the time it was placed to this day, I have been bleeding every day! I have horrible acne, migraines, mood swings, weight gain, and NO sex drive. This thing is ruining my marriage! I thought the Nexplanon was going to be amazing, not having to remember a pill every day, but in 2 days, I'm having it removed!"

For Birth Control "I shouldn't have ever chosen this, but there was no way to know how negatively it would affect my body without trying it. The first 6 months weren't bad whatsoever, I was always told to ride out the first 6 anyway, considering your body has to adjust. I stopped having periods altogether, which was glorious. All the other side effects the 3 years afterward... not so much. My breasts drastically fluctuated in size, felt like someone had used them for punching bags. My cramps were painful like never before. Ovarian cysts. Lethargic, my mental clarity was a thing of the past. Acne. Depression. Anxiety. Mood swings like no other. My cycle came back and was heavy and off. Blood clots. No weight gain, but considering everything else, who cares."

For Birth Control "I regret, in hindsight, trying this method of birth control. I had been on the Microgestin pill for about 5 years prior to trying this - Microgestin had worked really well and helped clear my body and face acne significantly. I had the Nexplanon for a total of 8 months (at age 21) - the first 2-3 months were fine probably because my body was still adapting to the change in hormones. After about 3 months, it all went downhill. After that 3-month mark hit, I began having nonstop bleeding, I became moody and depressed most of the time, my anxiety got worse, and my acne began coming back as it had when I was a teenager before the pill. Since taking it out, my acne is clearing and my mood is better. I am so happy to be done with it."

For Birth Control "The worst birth control ever. I've had it for almost a year and am scheduled on Monday, 07/17/17, to have it taken out. It was okay at first, but now I have horrible headaches and sometimes bad chest pains, bad depression, weight gain, and the worst anxiety, and terrible acne. I wouldn't recommend this birth control to anybody."

For Birth Control "Nothing but trouble. The Nexplanon side effects caused constant spotting, made me so moody, and caused breakouts all over my face. These side effects did not subside after 9 months. The implantation was smooth, the removal was a whole different experience. 20 minutes of digging because the implant migrated to my muscle and went much deeper than subdermal. Kudos to those who had great experiences, mine, however, was the worst ever."

For Birth Control "I am 24 and had Nexplanon put in around January of 2016. The first year was fantastic. Normal period, light bleeding. This year has been awful! I was depressed all of the time, sore boobs, feeling fluttering pregnancy movements in my belly, acne all of the time, and I had a very heavy 8-week-long period before I had enough. I told my doctor to take it out ASAP. At the time of having it taken out, is when my doc told me it TRICKS your body into thinking it's pregnant. That's why all of the symptoms are so terrible! I've been 3 weeks without it, and I'm still working to get my energy back. Period is back to normal. Ladies, beware. Just do your homework."

For Birth Control "When I started this medicine, I bled the entire 5 months I was on Nexplanon. I went from perfect skin to oily, acne-infested skin in a month! I had to transfer my files to another doctor to get it removed because my doctor insisted on keeping it in. Well, ladies, a year later and I still have the face of a thirteen-year-old at the age of 25. I lost a lot of confidence because of my acne-prone skin... and most of my time goes into trying to get my skin together. I have to go to the dermatologist now. By making the decision of not wanting kids, I now have to suffer the consequences of my decision for inserting Nexplanon. I think it should be discontinued immediately!"

For Birth Control "The Nexplanon is plain awful. I'm on my third year, a month from getting it taken out (I've been begging my doc to take it out for a year now and just got OK'd). The first year of it, my period was nuts, either no period or a month-long period, slight weight gain but nothing terrible. Second year, mood swings like crazy, weight gain, and acne. Third year has been the worst. I have no acne, constant mood swings, severe depression despite my life going well, can't stop gaining weight (130 lb before, 185 lb now), bloating, cramps are so bad I've had to miss work. I have acne on my back and face and weird hair growth. I'm growing inch-long black facial hairs on my chin, and I'm a blonde who used to have like no body hair. This birth control has made me suicidal at times."

For Birth Control "I had 2 different Nexplanons in my arm through a 4-year period. This is why I regret ever getting the Nexplanon. 1.) It made me have awful acne. 2.) The hormonal changes made my hair thin and caused great hair loss. 3.) It made me a CRAZY BEEOTCH and very irrational. 4.) I would spot all the time. 5.) I had scars in my arm from getting the first one removed. 6.) Made me gain a lot of weight. 7.) Made me depressed. It's not worth it, at least for me."

For Birth Control "I hated the Nexplanon. I had periods every 2 months or so, which was fine, but I felt like I was pregnant all the time. I had cramps, sore breasts, and my acne was awful when I have naturally clear skin. I was starting to get depression, and my mood swings were so intense. It was starting to take a toll on my relationship with my mood swings, anxiety, and periods of depression, so I got it out to see if that was the issue. I got it out, and months later I feel like I finally have control of myself. I don't feel like I have whiplash from my moods, my libido is back, and my skin is clear again. I'm very happy with my decision to get it out and be hormone-free for a while."

For Birth Control "I've had the Nexplanon for 5 months now. I haven't stopped bleeding/spotting for the last 3 months. I've never had back acne, and now it's terrible! I can't even bear to put a tank top on, it's so embarrassing. You can pinch me and feel oil coming off my skin. It's horrible. My anxiety is off the charts. This was the worst thing I possibly could have gotten on. I should have stayed on the pill."

For Birth Control "Getting the implant put in wasn't bad, I hardly felt it, and it barely left a scar. I was hopeful. But getting adjusted was awful. I bled pretty consistently for two months and broke out with horrible acne on my chest and back. Then things settled down, and I would just get my period as normal with spotting after intercourse, which was annoying but manageable. Then around six months into having the implant, I had bleeding off and on again for over a month. Decided to get it taken out, and it was good I did because it had embedded into my tissue, and the nurse had to dig it out. Left a dime-size scar when it should have been more like a pinhead. REALLY unhappy with my experience. Would not recommend at all."

For Birth Control "DO NOT GET THE NEXPLANON! I just had it removed this morning after 1 year and 3 months of use. I had my period for that entire time A YEAR AND 3 MONTHS NONSTOP! My mood changed completely. I got depressed, everything made me cry, I would get angry at anything and anyone. I started to have acne. I would get bladder infections, my hair texture changed as well. I really think it is the worst birth control method out there. I'm going to start the pill method next week, so hopefully, it will work out."

For Birth Control "The worst birth control option available. I had Nexplanon in my arm for six months, and those six months were a nightmare. I suffered terrible anxiety. I also started having problems with lactose temporarily and questioned if I was lactose intolerant. I would randomly cry when I was alone. It sparked adult acne. I had trouble breathing sometimes. Honestly, it was just a horrible, confusing experience. Sure, it is effective in the sense that it prevents pregnancy, but there are better options than Nexplanon."

For Birth Control "I got Nexplanon about a year and a half ago, and I cannot wait until I get it removed. I get frequent migraines, I am having problems fighting depression and major anxiety. I have acne all over my face, my shoulders, my back, and it's even started on my stomach area. I have my period for about 3 weeks every month, and it's not just spotting; it is extremely heavy, and I have cramps constantly. My sleeping habits are way out of whack; it's either I want to sleep all day or not at all. My appetite has skyrocketed, and I feel like I can never get enough to eat, and yet I've lost a TON of weight since getting it. I have absolutely no sex drive whatsoever. I would never in a million years recommend this to anyone. I hope this gave some insight."
