For Birth Control "I currently still have the implant in my arm. I got it around 3 months ago, and I absolutely hate it. All I heard from the gyno and friends was it worked so well, and it was the best BC out there. I haven’t stopped bleeding since I got it. Constant cramps and weight gain. My acne is out of control. The worst part is the severe depression it has caused me. I used to be so happy and full of life. Now I’m severely depressed. DO NOT recommend to anyone who has a history with depression or anxiety. Doctor suggests waiting till I reach the 6-month mark, but I cannot deal with the bleeding and depression that much longer. Hopefully getting it taken out in the next few weeks."

For Birth Control "Do NOT try this. I know if you’re reading this, you’re thinking to yourself, “everyone’s different, maybe this will work for me.” No! The effects from this aren’t worth trying. Went on this when I was 18 for the sole purpose of preventing pregnancy. I always had regular periods with a 34-day cycle and minimal PMS. With this, I bled for the entirety of having it in: 3 months constant period. Not spotting, just period. I called and complained a month in, they told me to wait it out 3 months. The 3rd month came, still bleeding. When I called again, they wanted to put me on the pill, so what’s the point of having this thing? I told them I needed this thing out ASAP. After getting it out, I’m finally back to my normal self and normal cycle. Other side effects I had were acne and bloating, but I could’ve easily dealt with those over the bleeding. I would never recommend this."

For Birth Control "I have had Nexplanon for over 2 years. The 1st year, I didn't really notice any side effects. However, the last 6 months, I haven't felt like myself. I feel extremely anxious almost all of the time, which isn't like me at all. All I want to do is sleep. My greatest concern is the way it is affecting my relationship. I also have noticed a steady decrease in my sex drive, have gained 30 lbs, started getting acne in random places (chest/thighs), and my bleeding is so irregular. There are months I bleed for 2 weeks, spot for a few days, then go back to bleeding heavily for a week! It's just weird because I went so long without any negative side effects, little did I know it was the calm before the storm. I hate how I feel and truly wish I would have just stayed on the pill. The side effects for me are NOT worth it! My happiness and quality of life have suffered greatly. I have a gyno appointment next week and am so looking forward to getting it removed. Hoping and praying I return to my old self!"

For Birth Control "This birth control is terrible. I haven't experienced much weight gain, but it's been a couple of months and I'm STILL bleeding. This birth control is literally destroying my relationship. My mood swings are out of control, and I get so sad for long periods of time for no justifiable cause. I take a mood stabilizer and an antidepressant, so I know for sure it's this nightmare. Oh, not to mention the acne... I'm breaking out on my chest! Best of luck to anyone that uses this form of birth control."

For Birth Control "Absolutely the worst birth control I’ve had. I had my period for two to three weeks out of each month, every month. Over time, I got horrible acne, depression, and anxiety. I had mood swings like no other, and all these things continued to get worse and worse over time."

For Birth Control "Got my Nexplanon in Nov 2016. First 6 months were great, no period. After that, I had a period for a month, with a one-week gap in between. Went back to my doctor, who gave me a birth control pill (defeats the purpose) and said to take it for 3 months and it would 'reset' my cycle. Should have known better. Now here I am having heavy periods. Bleeding through tampons all the time at work. No libido. Breaking out. Serious PMS, anxiety, and depression. Migraines. Period ends on a Monday, starts up heavier than before on a Friday. Absolutely exhausting. I have an appointment to get it out in 2 weeks, and I cannot wait. I took this to make my life and cycle easier, never expected it to be worse."

For Birth Control "This is awful. I got Nexplanon instead on February 9th, and the first month or so was fine. About a month after insertion, I started bleeding and have not stopped, and it is now June 29th. I have had a constant period for about 4 months now, and honestly, I’m drained. It has completely ruined my sex life, and I’ve spent so much extra money on pads and tampons. Not to mention, this has made my skin break out worse than it’s ever been. I’ve gained a substantial amount of weight in my stomach, and my mood swings have made me flat-out evil. I have an appointment to get it removed first thing in the morning, and I can’t wait to start living normally again."

For Birth Control "I have had the Nexplanon implant for two months, and my mood has drastically changed. I’m angry and irritable for no apparent reason. I feel down and depressed and have no desire for sex. My acne on my face is beyond horrible and uncontrollable. I had no idea all this could result from the birth control until a friend brought it to my attention, in turn, leading me to the reviews. The reviews confirmed that I wasn’t feeling this way alone. After discussing these issues with my primary doctor, she recommended I return to my OBGYN to have it removed."

For Birth Control "This implant really decreased my quality of life. I would not recommend this drug to anyone. I had numerous side effects over the course of 1-2 years with the implant. I was only off of my cycle for 3-4 months throughout this period. I also gained 30 lbs and got painful acne all over my face. I started getting headaches, and also lost my sex drive. The least I could say is that it did prevent pregnancy, but it wasn't worth it. Since I've had it taken out, I've lost weight, and my acne has reduced. I'm glad I don't have to deal with any more side effects."

For Birth Control "I don’t use both control pills, so seeing this at my gynecologist got me interested. I got it inserted 2 weeks after seeing the brochure. I made a big mistake by not doing proper research prior to the insertion. A year later after I got this in my arm, I continue to have periods twice a month and occasional spotting. My skin has changed for the worse, ever since I got this horrible birth control, I get bumpy skin and pimples. Mood swings are so bad too. Oh, three months after the insertion, I had no energy at all, just to get through a normal day was a task. My energy level is okay now. Please do some research before getting it. I’m going to get it removed ASAP."

For Birth Control "Nexplanon is a horrible drug. I put on weight, broke out in spots, and had periods every week. I had none of these problems before, so the side effects are clearly due to the implant. I am a moody witch that goes from angry to sobbing in 30 seconds flat and can't wait to have the implant removed next week."

For Birth Control "I am so unhappy with this BC. I have been bleeding almost three weeks now nonstop. I have gained 5 pounds already, extreme stress, and acne. This stuff sucks, and I feel like Drs make a ton of money suggesting this useless BC. They told me that I shouldn’t have any periods with this, which is a full-out lie. I can’t get myself to stop bleeding. Horrible experience, and I plan on calling and telling them to take it out ASAP!"

For Birth Control "Worst experience of my life. The biggest advice I can give is to take a pill with the same hormone before actually putting in the implant. NHS will refuse to remove it if you haven't had it for long enough. I am a cheerful and positive person, but after a couple of days of having the implant, I became heavily depressed and the dark thoughts started. I was crying constantly, I'd fall asleep crying and wake up to cry. Not only that, I had bad acne and heavy bleeding, had to change pads every 2 hours. When asked to remove it, there were always excuses, and I was even put on contraceptive pills to stop the bleeding. I was a hormonal mess. Until my friend saw me crying hysterically for 2 hours and dragged me to the hospital and demanded it to be taken out because I wasn't the same person. After taking it out, I went back to being happy and positive. I think it's very dangerous for some people and doctors don't realize that."

For Birth Control "Got this put into my arm end of February on the 5th of my period. My arm hurt for over a week with a pinching sharp pain at the insertion site. No mood swings or side effects in weight, sleep is normal, no acne. No period or spotting for about 3 weeks. My next period in March was a few days early and started off as light spotting but still where I had to wear a tampon. Then at the end of what would have been my normal period cycle “spotting,” then the period came full on. And I still have it, going on three weeks now. I have an ugly scar on my arm now that probably will never go away and a small scar tissue at the sight of insertion. Also, a period that won’t go away. If I’m still bleeding by the end of the week, I’m calling to get it removed. I’m annoyed at the decision I made. I’ll take an oral birth control over this any day. I don’t recommend this product. And you can see it under the arm."

For Birth Control "I got the Nexplanon inserted 2/15/17. It was fine at first. It does the job. At first, when I got periods, they were light, and I wouldn't bleed heavy at all. I am currently in the most painful period in a long time. I had breast pain. Acne pops up now and again. I've had random leg pain. I've had shortness of breath. I lost my sex drive, bled from August 4th, 2017, until January 5th, 2018. After this, I bleed for two weeks, get off for two weeks, then it'll come. I constantly feel like I'm on my period. I'm drained all the time. No vitamins help. I'm moody and emotional always. It's made me nervous and anxious a lot of the time. I've gained 25-30 pounds at the most, and it fluctuates all the time. My back hurts all the time. I've been more emotional now than before. I got this because I always forget the pill. That's why I like it. Everyone is different, it doesn't hurt to try and find the birth control that works best for you. I'm planning to get it taken out."

For Birth Control "I wrote a review back in December 2017 about my terrible experience with this birth control (depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, weight loss, acne). I wanted to come back and share that I removed this BC 2 years early, and I am so HAPPY I did. It's only been out a week, but I already have had NO anxiety attacks or feelings of anxiousness, and I haven't felt depressed yet once (these feelings usually occurred daily). I've already gained 2 lbs back, and my acne is clearing up. Obviously, this birth control method will affect each woman differently, but if you know it's not for you, do not wait to take it out like I did! I spent a whole year of my life feeling really down on myself for no reason. Please, if you are experiencing some of these things I listed and you are using Nexplanon, take it out! Try a different method, your happiness and life are more important!"

For Birth Control "I got the implant on January 2nd, 2018, and it's been a nightmare. I bleed constantly, bad lower abdominal pain and headaches, no sex drive, which is affecting my marriage, acne, depression, and anxiety. Oh, and it really affects your pH balance, which causes a lot of yeast infections and makes you smell (BV). I would not recommend this to anyone, it has definitely made my life horrible. I don't even want to get out of bed most mornings. I don't want to get pregnant, but I need my life back and to feel normal again. I'm getting it removed ASAP!!"

For Birth Control "DO NOT GET THIS THING! The first 3 months were fine. I got bad acne because of the hormones, but she prescribed me a gel for it, said it would fix it, didn’t, even though I used it properly. Mood went down, depression, anxiety, and panic attacks skyrocketed, and I ended up in the hospital for it. I questioned having to wear a liner every day or not. I got this because of horrible periods. I stayed home multiple times still having a horrible period, but even more than before because this damn thing gave me migraines! The worst part is I didn’t realize how bad it was affecting me until right before I got it out. Within hours of removal, my family noticed a positive difference in my mood and how I carry myself in general. DO NOT GET NEXPLANON!! IT IS THE WORST BIRTH CONTROL!! THIS IS YOUR WARNING! Birth control tip: do some hormone testing before you decide which one to get!! It will save you a lot of trouble! Absolutely do not recommend!"

For Birth Control "I hated this one from the day I got it. I bled from day one all the way up till I got it out a year and a half later. I would still get hormonal breakouts. I would not recommend it to anyone - it was awful. My moods were everywhere, I easily irritated, etc. I'm the happiest person ever, so it sucks to be so snappy over everything. I'm disappointed. I really wanted it to work out, but I guess I'll try the patch now!"

For Birth Control "Got Nexplanon implanted just over four months ago. I have been bleeding every day since. I have gotten acne, which I've never had, I am horribly fatigued and broke out in eczema. I also gained 20 lbs (I've been 120 lbs for 20 years, now I'm 140 lbs). I have not changed my eating or exercise habits, and weight gain has never been an issue. I actually always had trouble gaining weight. I really wanted this to work for me, but I have to get it removed because, unfortunately, it's making life miserable."

For Birth Control "If I could give this birth control negative ratings, I would. Worst birth control I’ve ever been on. It does the job of preventing pregnancy, but with the outrageous side effects, it’s just not worth it. I get headaches every single day. My sex drive is nonexistent, when I do try to have sex, it is painful. I’m VERY moody. I started to get acne on my face as well as on my back. I have daily spotting. No “real” periods. I’ve gained 40 pounds on Nexplanon. I’ve had this in me for 2 years and cannot wait to get this thing out of me."

For Birth Control "This was absolutely magical for the first 6 months, then absolute hell for 3. When I first got it, I got my period for 9 days and then rarely had spotting for the next six months. Then the hell started - I had my period for TWO straight months, my acne started going crazy, I gained 10 pounds when I had been the same weight for the previous 10 years, AND I started lactating for some reason. I almost pulled the thing out of my arm myself, but waited for my gyno to take it out. Don't let your gyno convince you to start Nexplanon. It's the worst decision I have ever made."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend this form of birth control. It honestly changed everything about me. I got it in October 2017, and I'm getting it out today, January 30, 2018. I've been bleeding nonstop for those continuous 4 months! I spent so much money on pads, tampons, and medicines. It wasn't spotting, it was like my actual period along with cramps, migraines, tiredness, and acne! I used to NEVER get acne, but this birth control covered my face. I would stick with the old-fashioned birth control, which is the pill. I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I did."
