For Birth Control "I've been taking TriNessa for about 5 months, and I've never been such a miserable person in my life. I developed severe depression, mood swings, anxiety, and fatigue. This pill has almost ended my marriage because of how irritable I have been. I can't wait to go to the doctor to switch brands!"

For Birth Control "This is the only birth control I've ever taken, and I just started it at the beginning of the month. I don't know if it's supposed to get better, but I've been so emotional, and I've been gaining weight, about 10 pounds in less than a month. I work out and eat healthy. I feel bloated, and I want to stop taking this. Would not recommend. My acne hasn't even cleared, it's gotten worse."

For Birth Control "First pack on TriNessa, and I can honestly say that I'm gonna see if I can switch back to Ortho Tri-Cyclen. My period usually lasts 4-5 days, but since I've started, it has lasted 7. I have been so emotional, and it has been affecting my relationships with close ones. I have never felt like this, and I believe that it is because of this pill. Also, I read that a lady experienced a lumpy feeling in her throat. I felt the same feeling a couple of days ago! Definitely contacting my physician ASAP! I understand that everyone is different, but ladies, do your research before taking this pill!"

For Birth Control "I give Trinessa a rating of 3 only because it was effective as birth control, but the side effects were not worth it. My skin broke out badly the very first day I was on Trinessa. I had inflamed, painful blemishes on my chin, always in the same areas until I started taking the placebo pill; then it gradually got better. I was also super emotional the entire time I took it; I even missed a day of work because I couldn't stop sobbing. Had a similar experience switching from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo to TriSprintec; only side effects were even more severe, so I only took it one week. For me, definitely worth paying $60 more a month."

"Very effective if taken right, 0.1% failure rate vs. other birth control that are not combined pills, 0.3-0.6% failure rate. (7 days after the first Sunday if starting first pill) Regulates your periods, makes them shorter and lighter. Note: it takes about 3 months for your body to get used to the hormone change, so you might experience irregular periods or brown discharge, but it's completely normal. Fact: lower sodium intake if this happens. Helps improve skin, i.e., acne, but in time. You will not see results right away, but in a month or two. I have not experienced any weight gain but have seen mood swings, sensitivity, etc., but improved in a few months. Every girl experiences TriNessa differently, but it's because your body gets used to the change (3 months)."

For Birth Control "Positives: I'm not pregnant, and it really has cleared up my acne. My periods are shorter, not necessarily lighter. Negatives: I've been taking TriNessa for about a year, and my periods still do not come at the same time every month. I will be the first to admit I do not take it at the EXACT time every day, but definitely within a window of a few hours. Before my period, I notice that I get very dizzy and lightheaded, which never happened to me before. It has also made me VERY emotional- I'm a pretty sensitive person, but it was never this bad. Finally, I have noticed that the pill reduces my appetite, however, if I do not constantly have a small amount of food in my stomach, I feel nauseous (I never vomit), it goes away once I eat."

For Birth Control "I'm 23 and have been on TriNessa for 4 months. I switched from Loestrin 24 for affordability. For reference, I experience very heavy cramps and bleeding and about a week-long period when not on birth control. I have about a 3-day period that is moderate to heavy (it doesn't lighten my period very much, but it does shorten it). Cramps are reduced. The week of my period, I experience noticeable mood swings (unlike when I was on Loestrin and didn't experience any). But overall, I am very happy with this birth control. It's extremely affordable, shortens my period, lightens cramps, and does not cause mood swings outside of when I normally would right before my period. I would recommend giving it a shot!"

For Birth Control "I was on TriNessa for 7 years. The past 6-7 months, I have been getting very emotional while on my period week. It started out gradual and then was getting worse as the months go on. I would just start crying over nothing! I went to the doctor, and she switched me to LoSeasonique, but I'm going to get off of that because I have been spotting pretty bad, and I still can't get over the fact of not having a period except for 4 times per year. Seems very unnatural. Before TriNessa, I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and I had bad migraines."

For Birth Control "I started using Ortho Tri-Cyclen about 3 years ago, which I had no problems with. However, 3 months ago I switched to Trinessa because it's much cheaper. The first few days, I definitely felt on edge and 'out of sorts,' but I assume it was just my body adjusting to the medication since I felt better after that. I have actually experienced fewer mood swings than when on OTC, however, I have noticed more bloating (no weight gain) and some new bumps on my face. I have never had a problem with acne, but I seemed to develop these tiny bumps as soon as I started Trinessa. Overall, the very minimal side effects that I have experienced are far outweighed by the benefits of a cheap and effective birth control. I guess everyone's body is different."

For Birth Control "This is my first time taking this birth control. I was on Depo years back. I didn't like Depo because I'd bleed for almost 2 months until my next shot. Smh. I haven't had any nausea or mood swings? I can't tell because I have those anyways. The only thing I don't like is my cycle seems long. Smh. It's not heavy, it's light enough for a panty liner. That's the only thing I don't like."

For Birth Control "I’m just now stopping the use of this drug. I’ll be starting Viorele probably next month and am hoping for better results. I started this drug 3 months ago after an ectopic. I have PCOS as well, so I was also hoping that with the birth control help, it would stop the abnormal bleeding and long periods. It did the opposite. I’ve bled longer on this drug than I have without any birth control. It used to happen once every few months, now it’s a monthly issue. I’ve been super depressed and emotional while on this drug, and very, very angry and aggressive. Which is why I’ve stopped. I don’t like this feeling. If it happens with this new pill, I’ll go off of birth control for good."

For Birth Control "Overall, it does what I need it to do. Prevents pregnancy! Although the mood swings I get from this birth control have pretty much ruined my relationship. I constantly get headaches, anxiety, nervousness, nausea, emotional as heck, and did I mention the mood swings!? That's the worst thing about it. One day I'm happy as can be, the next I'd rather be a mess on a half. I was on the IUD for 5 years and I never had these side effects. Although when it came time to come out, it grew into me and that was a mess. Then I turned to these pills for the past year, it's been horrible except that I haven't had an unwanted pregnancy. You're damned if you do and damned if you don't! I have one more month to go. Suggestions?"

For Birth Control "I have been on this birth control for about a year now. Until recently, everything is coming together to only prove how bad this birth control is for me. I have horrible mood swings, nausea, depression, tired more, slight weight gain, thinning of my hair (used to have nice thick hair, and now it is thin), and if I miss a day and take two together, I get really sick. I can only say that I have not gotten pregnant, and I have decent periods. All I know is that I need to change quick. Some birth controls work better for others, but please listen to your body and watch for any changes, etc."

For Acne "I rated this TriNessa low with five stars because this is my first month on the medication. When taking the pill, I did not experience any mood swings, dizziness, or sickness. I felt great...the only problem was that my face broke out like a pizza! I was on the shot 6 months prior to the pill and had very minimal acne. I'm hoping that if I stick with it, the acne will subside and I will be happy with the overall results!"

For Birth Control "I had started this pill back in April after having my second endometriosis attack that landed me in the hospital. I had tried other birth control pills prior to this one, and they did not work either when it came to my endometriosis. I stopped taking this pill one month ago because it began to make me feel nauseous throughout the day, and I began to feel emotional from it as well. I have to say that it did shorten and lighten my periods, though. I am very depressed that it did not work for me. I have been battling these issues for many years, and nothing has been 100% effective yet. If you have bad endometriosis, don't use this pill! I hope to find a birth control that stops my periods and treats my endometriosis soon."

For Acne "Was prescribed TriNessa for acne and mood swings. Made my acne terrible, worse than ever before, and developed mood swings worse than ever. Didn’t help my severe cramps whatsoever. Didn’t gain weight (I think? I don’t weigh myself). But overall, made acne and mood swings worse."

For Birth Control "Pros: No period cramps, no acne. Cons: I am a hormonal wreck, I am always hungry, I start my period if I miss one or two pills. I’ve been taking TriNessa for a year. I do know they increased my appetite severely. They make me emotional."

For Acne "I started taking this for acne in high school. The first 2 months, my acne got worse, then after that, it totally cleared up. I was so much more confident. I now take it as birth control. Over the past 4 months, I have noticed that I have been more moody. I will cry over anything and get mad over the smallest things. I'm also always really tired. I did go to my doctor, and she asked if I was okay on TriNessa because lots of women have really bad mood swings while on it. I was okay then, but it definitely has gotten way worse, and I'm thinking about switching."

For Acne "I have always had long, heavy periods and mild acne. I went on this birth control to help my periods and acne, and it did the opposite and added major mood swings. I have been on this pill for a month, and my acne is so unbearably bad. I can’t stay on it any longer to wait out if it gets any better because of how bad it is. It did nothing but make everything worse!"

For Acne "Took Gianvi for about two years and felt it made me too emotional and not myself, but my skin was glowing. So I stopped taking it thinking my skin would be fine. After four-ish months, my skin was so gross and bumpy. I told my gyno I wanted new birth control for acne, and she prescribed me Tri-Sprintex. The pharmacy has given me Tri-Previfin and now Tri-Nessa (because they're generics). This is my fourth month, and my cystic acne has gotten worse. One day I forgot to take my pill and woke up the next morning with like six new cystic pimples on my forehead. I also have little bumps still on my face that are like little whiteheads, especially all over my chin. It's terrible and looks dreadful in the sun. My chest and back are cleared, but my face is not."

For Birth Control "I have always had acne on most of my face, but never extremely bad, but this made my skin break out. I read reviews that it did to many girls, but I thought, well, it may be different for my combination skin/acne. I was on it for three months, and that’s when my acne was at its all-time worst, and I didn’t even realize it was the pill. I got off it for a month (didn’t have money lol), then got on Mili, and I’m on my third month. I still haven’t skipped a period as I’m trying, and my mood swings are bad, but light flow, still cramping, my acne looks a lot more clear though."

For Birth Control "I have been on TriNessa for around six months now. I have been on birth control for 9 years due to ovarian cysts, horrid periods/cramping, and obviously to prevent pregnancy. I have had to switch from pill to pill over the years due to complications. When I was switched to TriNessa six months ago, I felt horrible pretty much from the start. TriNessa initially caused mood swings (have subsided since) and spotting for two packs straight. This pill STILL kindly provides me with constant bloating for about two weeks out of a pack, an obliterated sex drive and life with my fiancé."

For Birth Control "When I first started taking TriNessa, my skin began to break out and I began to have mood swings. After close to 2 months, my skin cleared and was clear the remainder of my time taking the pill. I had to stop taking TriNessa because it caused EXTREME depression every time I got my period and made me very, very emotional. I told my doctor, and she told me to stop taking it immediately. Since stopping, my skin is breaking out, I’ve had migraines and moderate cramping."

For Birth Control "I love this. Acne was a little bad when first starting, but it cleared as I started drinking more water while taking the pill daily. I haven’t had any weight gain at all, matter of fact, I’ve been less hungry! Everything I eat pretty much fills me up. Although I have been way more tired and emotional than usual."
