For Birth Control "Been on Tri-Nessa for almost 3 years now, and in the beginning, my mood swings and depression were all over the place. In the beginning, my periods were lighter and I was in less pain, but now it seems to have switched to more heavy periods and more painful currently. Yes, my skin is clearer, but I’ve developed hyperpigmentation (melasma) on my cheeks from using Tri-Nessa and the hormones."

For Birth Control "I was looking for a birth control after having my second child. After being put on this, I noticed massive mood changes. Then, after a month, I found out I was pregnant again. Eleven days after I found out I was pregnant, I was in emergency surgery. I had an ectopic pregnancy, which my OB told me was caused by TriNessa. Never again will I touch this birth control, or any for that matter."

For Acne "Let's start off saying that medications work differently for everybody. Personally, it has not been bad for me like all of these other reviews. The first couple of weeks, I did have mood swings, I was debating on stopping TriNessa Lo, but I said maybe just my hormones need to regulate. Well, they regulated. I started taking this birth control so I can stop getting hormonal breakouts mid-cycle. My acne wasn't horrible, I really just had oily skin and a few cystic bumps that would leave red marks that looked ugly to me. I probably would get 7 a month? Something like that. Well, the first 3 months I broke out a little more than usual. I had about 10 bumps on one cheek. On my 4th month, my skin is crystal clear!"

For Birth Control "I have been using TriNessa for 2 years now, since my daughter was born. This is my first birth control, and I am using this one because the name brand one my doctor recommended isn't covered by my insurance. At first, I thought everything was fine and that my life was just adjusting to being a new mom, but I feel like the birth control contributes to my feelings of depression, like I just can't shake it. I don't feel like myself and am having a hard time feeling happy. I have horrible mood swings, and it is putting a strain on my relationship with my husband, my libido is down the drain. While I haven't gained weight, it's been difficult to lose it, which wasn't such a challenge prior to the baby. I am very sensitive to smells, some things, like air fresheners, make me want to vomit. I get occasional nausea, but it's random. The plus side is that my seasonal allergies seem to be gone, and I have successfully not become pregnant."

For Birth Control "Been on TriNessa for over a year and just within the last six months, everything has changed. The week before my period, I usually got mood swings, depression, anxiety, acne, back pain. But this month has so far been the worst. I can’t eat, I’m anxious all the time, I want to cry for no reason, and I have no control over my thoughts."

For Ovarian Cysts "I am 29, never been on birth control before. I recently started taking it due to painful periods caused by uterine fibroids. I started taking it a month ago. I would take it around 1 pm, and it was the worst mistake ever. I could not control my emotions or mood, I was feeling foggy and in a daze, always tired, could not concentrate, always agitated. My friend suggested I start taking them at night before bed, so I take them at 10-ish to 10:30 now, and it makes a huge difference. I'm back to my old self now. My periods last at least 5 days, nowhere near the bloating or the painful periods I've had before. I have not experienced any weight gain or any other negative effects besides the ones from taking them during the day. My breasts are sometimes tender, but not a big deal."

For Birth Control "This is my first contraception pill. I have had a great experience. I have been using it for a little over a year. The first two months were a little unusual, in a sense I was overly sensitive and emotional. However, after that, it's like I am not using any pills. No pain, no weight gain, no side effects. Oh, my boobs did get bigger since I started using them, but I don't think that was a bad side effect. My husband definitely likes it :)"

For Birth Control "I switched to this birth control after being on the same one for 7 years. I changed because my other one was giving me extreme headaches when I went to the sugar pill. TriNessa has given me horrible breakouts, and I've always had really good skin. The main reason I will be switching is because of my horrible mood swings. I am annoyed and irate 24/7. It's horrible. I'm going to go back to a higher dosage of pills to get my hormones under control."

For Birth Control "I've been on TriNessa for about a year and just got off it. While being on TriNessa, I noticed a lot of mood swings and changes in my libido, all of which started when I began the pill. My period became a lot lighter and a lot shorter-usually only 2 days. I didn't gain weight or have issues with acne. Certain times of the month, my breasts also seemed larger and tender. (Not 100% sure if it was just from it being a certain time of the month or the pill, though.) The only things I didn't like with this medicine are the mood swings, but again, I knew what to expect and when to expect it and when it was happening. That, and remember to take them at the same time every day."

For Birth Control "I have no problem with TriNessa. I'm sexually active with my boyfriend, and I'm not wanting a child, so it's done its job so far! I began birth control in 2010 and first started taking Tri-Specta (cepta? It was in 2010, I forget, lol), and wow. I had dramatic mood swings, it was incredible. I spoke to my doctor, to which she recommended TriNessa, and I've been on it since. I've never been super acne prone, but I occasionally get breakouts, just a zit or two, nothing bad, and usually right before or right after my period. No huge cravings. I've actually lost 24 lbs since 2010, so I can't say it's made me gain weight (a lot of other factors probably play a role with this as well). Birth control is birth control, so no one 'likes' it, but I'd give it 9/10."

For Birth Control "I have been on TriNessa for about 8 months now. It has done a great job at preventing pregnancy, and it also has cleared up my face a lot! People have even noticed and told me how much better my skin looks. I do feel like the pill does make me more emotional and more moody. I used to never get cramps, and now I get them on the first day of my period. Also, my boobs have not gotten any bigger. :/ Overall, I think the pill does its job, and I'm happy about that!"

For Birth Control "I tried TriNessa for a month and a half. It was the first birth control I had ever taken, but it was the worst. My mood swings were off the charts. I don't think a day had gone by for me without crying and/or having intense mood swings. I have recently switched to Yaz, and I love it. Yaz is a good switch from TriNessa if you're having problems. It's a lower dose of hormones with the same effectiveness. I can honestly say I feel like a better, happier person on Yaz. Plus, I have PMDD, so it has helped out greatly for moodiness. My boyfriend and I can actually hang out without fighting for stupid reasons that were just plain ridiculous before."

For Birth Control "The birth control kept me from getting pregnant, so on that subject, it worked great. But, I had 3 severe side effects that really affected my quality of life. I was exhausted all of the time, no energy ever (after I stopped taking it, within 1 week I had energy again). I had intense headaches every day within an hour of taking this medicine, and I was very emotional. One moment nice, next moment sad, then mean. It has been a month since I took this birth control, and I feel like me again!!"

For Birth Control "I took Lessina birth control, but my acne got very bad, and my doctor put me on TriNessa. My acne started clearing away immediately when I started. I get terrible mood swings and nausea. The nausea would hit me in the morning and last anywhere from a few minutes to hours. Sometimes the nausea is so bad I have to leave work. I've been diagnosed with moderate depression/anxiety since starting this medication. Overall, this birth control is okay. My periods are light and last anywhere from 4 to 6 days. Cramping is mild/moderate. I haven’t gained any weight being on this birth control, and my skin looks great. After getting prescribed sertraline, I feel like it’s helped my mood swings/depression a lot."

For Birth Control "Not good at all. I just started my 3-pack, and I'm taking myself off of it. The experience has been horrible. I've had unbelievable mood swings since the start. Major breast tenderness, my PMS starts about 2 weeks early. Lots of chin acne. Nausea every single night. Slight weight gain. But my worst side effect is my hair started falling out. Literally in clumps. I have very, very thick hair, and it's noticeably thinner. My mother noticed just by looking at my hairline, and my hairdresser also confirmed it was significantly thinner. Unfortunately, I have to be on a birth control, otherwise, I have too many issues without it. However, I've taken myself off of this and thrown away my last pack. I know pills work differently for everyone, but I would not recommend."

For Acne "I was on Aubra for 4 months, and I broke out on the jawline. I just switched to TriNessa and I'm breaking out with cystic acne on my jawline, sides of my face, and also my forehead. I've gained about 3 pounds, and it's only been 3 weeks on my first pack. I do not know what to do. I also became less patient, cranky, moody, feeling sticky, and swollen. I don't know if I should continue taking it and give it some time..."

For Birth Control "I am going to start by saying that every birth control works differently on every body and gene type, but I can say that TriNessa is showing me how horrible birth control can be. I started taking birth control when I was 15 and have been using TriNessa since then. This was my first birth control. I was okay for the first 3 years of my life, acne great, no weight gain, no irregular bleeding, but my period was heavy and my mood swings were absolutely insane. From having serious depression to anxiety about everything. For the past two years now, I have been starting to gain weight as I am 20. I have put on at least 20 pounds and still have depression and anxiety. I just went off of it today and hope I can be myself again."

"Trinessa was an awful experience for me. I wasn't on it very long until I started having bad side effects. I had vaginal itching, mood swings, depression, and an increase in acne. After experiencing depression, I soon quit taking it and my period started. Trinessa had also caused my period symptoms to be much worse."

For Birth Control "Okay, so, I've been taking this birth control for five years now. It does its job at preventing pregnancy. Been with my boyfriend for three years, never used a condom, never pregnant. That's basically the only good thing about it. My acne has been terrible the entire time I've used this birth control. My mood swings are insane, cramping makes me nauseous, and I would bleed for five to seven days. I'm diagnosed with depression, and I noticed the week before my period I would get insanely depressed. I'm guessing it was this birth control, considering it happened every month during the last week of pills. Switching over to Yasmin to see how that works."

For Birth Control "I originally switched to this brand after having severe mood swings/increased depression while on Seasonique. My doctor suggested skipping a month of the pills, which helped a lot. We determined Seasonique was not the best option. She prescribed me TriNessa, which has been a major step up since Seasonique. However, my acne has not changed any, and my sex drive is through the roof. I’m likely going to be switching to an IUD after the next few weeks to solve the problem."

For Acne "I've been on this pill for about 7 months now. I went on it because condoms were too irritating for me and also because I had pretty bad acne. As a birth control, it's great, my period is regular now for the first time in 24 years. Acne-wise, it's okay, my skin is MUCH better than before, but it's not 100% clear yet. I still break out here and there, which I'm okay with. After struggling with severe acne for the past 13 years, 3-4 pimples a week is a walk in the park. After going on this pill, I noticed I'm very emotional. I get upset very easily, I cry at sad videos, customers annoy the hell out of me, but I don't mind it too much. As far as side effects go, they're all pretty mild and not as bad as I was expecting."

For Birth Control "I'm in the middle of my third month using TriNessa. I'm 17, and it's the first form of birth control pills I've tried. Overall, these first few months have been a positive experience. I had minor acne which is all gone, and I never break out. My periods are much lighter. I only have to use a 'regular' size tampon for four days, but then I will usually spot for three to four more days, in which I'll just use a panty liner. My first week and month on TriNessa was pretty difficult, it messed with my vision and definitely my mood. I became very depressed and even suicidal at times, but things have gotten better since then. I have not gained or lost any weight on the pill and still have the same appetite. Also, it has been a great contraceptive."

For Birth Control "I took TriNessa for 3 months, and it was driving me crazy. This was my first time ever taking birth control, and my experience was awful! My mood swings were very bad, I had slight depression, emotional problems, I just got married, and I didn't want my husband to touch me, and vaginal discharge all the time was grossing me out! No weight gain, and my period was on point! But I will never ever go back to this again!"
