For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control pill for almost a year. At first, I was an extreme bitch and super emotional for about the first month or two, and my breasts increased, and I probably gained about 5 pounds. I also spotted throughout the first month of taking it. But after three months, everything went back to normal, and my acne decreased. I had occasional zits here and there, but now my skin is completely clear. Also, it has made my period 3 days shorter. My period used to be a week long, and now it lasts four days, and it's pretty light, and I do not get any cramps. If you can make it through the first few months, it's totally worth it!"

For Birth Control "I am 28 and have taken TriNessa for 2 months. The first month, I noticed I was pretty emotional as I was crying a lot, feeling very depressed, especially the week before the placebo pills. Also, really painful periods that I thought BC pills usually help. I'm on the 2nd pack, and it's the week before my period. I cried for 2 days and actually felt like I didn't want to be around anymore. I never thought a pill could make you feel that way, but I found other reviews that said the same. I just could not figure out why I was feeling like a crazy person until I realized it's once again the week before my period. Please just be careful if you have any depression to start with. Pros: clear skin and no weight gain."

For Birth Control "Been on Trinessa for 8 years for mild acne and birth control. At first, it helped with my acne significantly, but it also made me gain 15 lbs (even though I was working out like usual); I feel like the medication decreased my exercise tolerance and motivation. Now that I'm in PA school, my acne has returned. Part of the weight gain was in my breasts, but also everywhere else. It also worsened my PMS symptoms, making me more emotional and irritable. Not fun to feel like you're always in a bitchy mood. Overall, it did its job, helped with my acne (at first), and was cheap, but the weight gain and worsening PMS symptoms were not fun. I recently switched to Implanon because I hate taking daily pills and want something more long-term."

For Birth Control "I began taking this medicine primarily to not get pregnant and a little for the acne part. I have not gotten pregnant, and it really didn't do much for my skin. You definitely need to have food in your system when you take it, I figured that out the hard way. My only complaint on this is I have TERRIBLE mood swings with this medicine, and it has worsened my already present anxiety and depression. I thought it was just me, but other women I know taking this have said the same thing. Going to talk to my doctor about switching during my next appointment because the moods are unbearable and affecting my relationships."

For Birth Control "I've been on Trinessa for years as the generic to Ortho Tri-Cyclen. It was free compared to the expensive version. I have not noticed issues with this pill at all, at least not that are very noticeable. I think the mood swings and emotional distress others are mentioning would happen with or without any BCP because of PMS. My skin breaks out only the week before my cycle starts, but nothing crazy. I don't have breast tenderness, cramps, or discomfort either. The periods are light and painless as well. I do notice the bloat like clockwork a week prior to the period, but it is what it is. I have not gotten pregnant while on the pill though my guy and I are highly fertile, so it's obviously working. Overall, I'm happy with it."

For Birth Control "So the doctor recommended Trinessa because my periods have been inconsistent. So I have taken the first 10 pills for the pack, and the first 5 days felt great, never had any of the side effects. Then I slowly started to notice I would get hot and headaches out of nowhere. Then things got worse, I would start crying and getting extremely emotional for no reason. I would feel like I was in a dream with fever, no energy, headache, and cry for hours for no reason. My hormones are all out of control now from just taking the first 10 pills. I wouldn't recommend this pill, but then again, I'm sure it affects people differently, just like any other birth control pill. Just my first experience with the pill (Trinessa) has been terrible."

For Acne "I’ve been on this pill for exactly a month. It’s my first time ever being on birth control, so I didn’t really know what to expect, but I’m very pleased with it so far! It’s helped my acne-which I’ve had since I was a sophomore in high school, I’m 21 now! Nothing I ever tried cleared it! And TriNessa has made it so much better in only a month. It’s also regulated my period. I do get nauseous and terrible mood swings, but it’s not anything I can’t put up with. Some days are better than others, though, lol. Overall, very pleased with this birth control! If you have acne and have had a hard time (like myself) trying to get rid of it-this is definitely the one!"

For Birth Control "I have been on TriNessa for 10 months. So far, I have had breast tenderness, fatigue, weight gain, 104 lb to 127 lb (yes, huge difference), lower abdomen pain. Headaches, mood swings not so much, but I do cry a lot, and I mean a lot. The pill is doing its job, although I've had one scare. My period comes three days late and lasts about 3-6 hours, my period hasn't been longer than a day. And it's light, very light, like spotting. TriNessa is a good pill, it has done its job, but the side effects are like symptoms of pregnancy. I could do without the side effects."

For Acne "I've never had acne until I was 27. I thought it was from giving birth, but even 6 months later, I was still breaking out. I started Trinessa and took it for 4 years and never had a pimple unless I stopped taking it. I'm now on a birth control implant and was taking Trinessa at the same time because I was breaking out again. However, I had to stop taking Trinessa due to mood swings on two birth controls. I am going to have to take out my implant and get back on Trinessa. I get deep, painful pimples that last weeks."

For Acne "I've been on TriNessa for under a month now, and I am already seeing incredible improvements with my acne and acne-related scarring. My skin tone is becoming even and clearing up at record speed. The reason why I only rate this medication an 8 is because it has caused mood swings and, for some reason, radiating pain in my ankles and calves. I also get a pretty bad gag reflex for at least four hours after taking the pill, which is uncomfortable, and I always feel on the verge of vomiting. However, nothing else has ever worked so well for my skin tone/acne problems, and I've tried it all. If you think the benefits outweigh the risks, as I do, this is for you."

For Birth Control "I've been taking TriNessa for 10 days for birth control, acne, and regulating my period. So far, I've lost 11 lbs. The first 5 days, I had awful mood swings and barely had an appetite for anything. It's odd for me to lose so much weight because I'm not overweight and have never lost this much weight in 10 days, but otherwise, it's going okay! Haven't noticed a difference in my acne, but time will tell!"

For Birth Control "TriNessa was the first birth control I had ever been on. I took it for almost a year and had to stop. I suffer from anxiety and depression. My periods were really awful before TriNessa, and when I started taking it, they were easy and manageable. My skin was glowing and clear. TriNessa made my anxiety and depression so much worse. I cried all the time, had panic attacks, and mood swings multiple times a day. I also gained about 15 pounds. I have not tried birth control since, I am so scared that it will be anything similar to TriNessa because it isn't worth it."

For Birth Control "I had to give this medication a 10 because, ultimately, it is extremely effective in the prevention of pregnancy. I started taking this pill when I was 17, and I'm now 21. As a teenager, it was great. No acne and predictable periods. But I gained a LOT of weight (I was usually 109-115, and now I'm 135-140), mostly in my thighs and lower abdomen that would not go away. I also completely lost my libido. It was devastating. I have terrible mood swings and am usually completely incapacitated every first day of my period. I also started to have quite a bit of spotting for the last year and a half. I'm always nauseous, dizzy, tired, achy, and depressed. It also increased my migraines and made them much worse. I do not recommend this."

For Birth Control "I've been on TriNessa for two years. I take it every day at the same time. I've never missed a pill. It cleared my acne. I've not had a pregnancy scare, and this is the only form of birth control my husband and I use. I have not gained weight. Sex no longer hurts due to endometriosis because the pill had reduced the side effects. My only complaint is my constant mood swings, which change in a second."

For Birth Control "I have been on TriNessa for 3 months. My insurance no longer covers Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, and I've been told this is the closest generic to Tri-Cyclen Lo. It's been terrible. I've been emotional, sad, and irritable. I have highs and lows throughout the day. I've had very depressing thoughts. I have cramps the first day of my menstrual cycle for the first time in my life, and I'm 32 years old. I spot between periods. I now have acne, so I am going to the dermatologist to get a prescription for that. Everyone says to give it more time. That, because I was on Ortho for almost 20 years, it will be an adjustment. They tell me that TriNessa is forgiving and my body will come around. I don't know what I'll do..."

For Acne "So my dermatologist put me on TriNessa hormone birth control for my severe acne. I’ve officially been on it for a month. Although I have noticed some skin clearing 2 weeks in, I still get random breakouts on my cheeks and jawline. Along with that, I’m definitely eating double than normal. I feel I’ve gained like 8 pounds in this 1 month. I always want to cry lately, have crazy mood swings, and sooo irritable. I started thinking maybe it’s the pill, so that’s how I ended up on this site, and you ladies confirmed what I thought."

For Birth Control "I was recently prescribed Trinessa after using Tri Sprintec for years. I heard Trinessa was great for clearing up acne, so I was really looking forward to seeing the results as I get occasional breakouts and cystic acne. I’ve been on Trinessa for a month now, and it’s been HORRIBLE. I’ve been extremely emotional, my anxiety has been intense, and the worst of all... my acne is the WORST it’s ever been. I’m so ashamed of my face and am losing self-confidence, and it all started once I began taking this pill. I have contacted my doctor, and they are putting me back on Tri Sprintec."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this birth control for over a year, and it's probably the best one so far. It's cleared my skin so much, I haven't gained any weight at all, and most importantly, the periods are shorter. The bloating is horrible, the cramps don't usually last for more than 1 day. Like every other birth control, it has cons, the mood swings and the bloating are pretty much the only ones I've experienced. I would recommend this to a friend."

For Birth Control "I was on Tri-Cyclen before I moved and lost health insurance. Immediately after losing health insurance, my doctor moved me to Trinessa, the generic for Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, without consulting me. I liked Ortho TCLo because I had no side effects and it cleared my adult acne. I cannot stand Trinessa. Although my acne is still clear, my mood swings are unpredictable and heavy. I am normally a strong and reliable person. I am constantly dealing with jaded, cynical thoughts, oversleeping, and utter lack of positivism. I will be switching back to Ortho TCLo even though the costs are astronomical without health insurance."

For Birth Control "As for preventing pregnancy, TriNessa worked like a charm. I originally had begun taking the pill to regulate my period because I got them twice a month. As for physical side effects, they were minimal. I never gained any weight, never felt nauseated or sick. The only downside I found to the pill was it made my patience go down to zero. So if something happened that normally I would blow over, I would get very angry and blow up. My mood swings were extremely bad, people just didn't want to be around me because of how angry it made me. I ended up getting off of it because of my mood swings, and my period stayed regulated. So that was a plus."

For Birth Control "I have been on TriNessa for 4 months, and it has been awful. During the 1st week, I vomited and experienced severe nausea. Although the vomiting subsided, I continued to experience nausea through the 2nd week. By the 2nd month, I noticed an increase in weight (5-10 lbs), larger breasts, mood swings, and nausea returned on and off for the 1st week. By the 3rd month, I was an emotional wreck and experienced the same pattern with nausea. I was filled with rage, exhausted 24/7, and had trouble concentrating. I had PMS symptoms during week 1 of a new pack and extreme hunger during periods. I also noticed a loss of hair on my scalp. I'm 33, no kids, don't smoke, I exercise, and this was the 3rd brand of birth control I've tried in 15 years (previously on Lutera, then Viorele)."

For Birth Control "I've been on TriNessa for the past 5 months, and I've had nothing but horrible experiences. I started the first pill with my period, and I was okay up until week 1. It was prom, and I got extremely nauseous and threw up twice! I felt horrible (uncontrollable nausea, headaches, crazy mood changes, dry mouth) during the first month, but I decided to stick with it since the side effects were 'normal.' Months 2-4 were better; barely any nausea, only slight mood changes, regular light period. Now in month 5, I'm noticing how much I have changed (because it's summer) and how different I've become. I've become depressed; even thinking about crying makes me cry!"

For Birth Control "I've been on TriNessa for about 5 or 6 months. I've gotten extreme headaches and mood swings. I've never had a panic or anxiety attack before, and every month I've been having terrible panic attacks. I also experience really bad bloating. I will be switching off of this pill!"

For Acne "Works very well for me. My skin got better. I used to have breast tenderness 10 days before my period and very bad stomach cramps the first 3 days every month, now it's gone. I have been on TriNessa for 1 year. It hasn't made me gain any extra weight, and I don't have any mood swings."
