For Birth Control "I've been on Sprintec for 3 years now. I switched from the depo as I didn't like what the depo was doing to my body. I had no weight gain from the depo, but I just didn't like the reviews I was reading, and the fact I had no period freaked me out. I was on the depo for 6 months (2 shots), and I stopped the depo and didn't get a period again until 6 months later. So definitely didn't like that. With Sprintec, I've had no weight gain. I do get a little emotional the last week of the pack, but I blame that on my period. No headaches. Periods are regular. My sex drive hasn't changed. Overall, I think this medication works for me. Everyone is different, so if you're experiencing anything unpleasant, definitely talk to your doctor!"

For Birth Control "I started taking Sprintec in February of 2018. About a month into taking this, I started having severe anxiety. This led to panic attacks and having to go to therapy. I also have gained 30 pounds since starting Sprintec. My boobs have gotten so much bigger. I'm at a loss. I was prescribed this on NURX, and I'm ready to just ditch it to see if I can lose some of this weight. I can't seem to lose it no matter what I do."

For Endometriosis "I was on Sprintec for only 3 weeks in an attempt to treat endometriosis. I had to discontinue this medication because I gained five pounds of retained water weight overnight during my 2nd week. I woke up and my fingers and ankles were swollen. I started getting numbness and painful 'pins and needles' in my right arm and right leg. I also was so tired, all I wanted to do was sleep. Co-workers even commented on how tired I looked. I had mood swings and had periods where I was upset or wanted to cry over minor issues and couldn't understand why, yet I couldn't control it. The hormonal fluctuations played havoc with my emotional state."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on this brand of birth control for the past 6 years. I’ll admit that the first 2-3 months after getting on it almost made me give up. I had lots of nausea triggered by random scents or foods or for no reason at all, rather crazy mood swings, and some weight gain. After the 3-month period, things seemed to go back to normal. Not sure if my body just needed some time to get used to the change, but I have since been able to go about my day-to-day life with no problems. So far, it’s worked to prevent pregnancy!"

For Birth Control "I was so afraid to go on birth control because I always heard about weight gain and acne. I recently got on it just because I'm intimate with my boyfriend and wanted to be extremely safe, and I must say Sprintec is amazing. The only issue I had that really got to me was I was on my period the first month for two weeks. It made me really sick because of the amount of blood I lost, but I took it easy. I get the occasional breakout before my period, which is completely normal. Other than that, my skin is seriously so clear! I get the same symptoms before my period: sore breasts, acne, and occasional cravings. But surprisingly, this makes me not want to eat, and I've actually lost weight. Lastly, there's been no pregnancy scares or babies on the way."

For Birth Control "I was on it for a little over a year and had no problem with effectiveness. I did gain 2 cup sizes, though. But once I got off it, I gained weight. Nothing I did stopped the weight gain. I am now going back on it, hoping to stop the weight gain."

For Birth Control "I've been on Sprintec birth control for almost 4 years now. It's been a great birth control. Price-wise, it is free for me with my insurance, so I really appreciate that. I have had slight weight gain, maybe 10-15 pounds, but that might have been due to my current lifestyle as well. The only negative I have about this pill is that it does affect your mental state. I have always been such a bubbly person, and being on the pill for years, I assumed that I was just going through a stressful time period, so my mood changed. But now that I have been off of the birth control for a couple of months, I can tell that it had changed my mood. I am generally a happier person. And if something brings me down temporarily, it is easier to not let it affect my happiness. I cannot say for sure that my experiences are a direct reflection of the birth control, but I do believe they have correlations specifically with my moods."

For Birth Control "This was my first birth control experience. I have been an emotional wreck since starting the pill. I cry about nothing (used to be more in control of that), and I've gained 10 pounds in 6 months (without changing diet or exercise). I also have felt more tired and incredibly anxious, which was unusual. Can someone find a birth control that actually works :)"

For Birth Control "Worst pill ever. I had evasive thoughts. I would visualize how I killed people. I never had these types of thoughts before the pill. I was depressive and very angry. Gained eight pounds and acne problems became more severe. My doctor said that they are perfect pills for me, but I quit taking them because I was not myself. All my problems went away when I stopped this pill. Best decision of my life."

For Birth Control "I was on Sprintec for 5 months as my first birth control ever, and overall I liked it. Shorter periods, fewer cramps, great skin, so cheap, and never any spotting (only when I skipped my period on purpose, I spotted a week later for 2 weeks). Only problem is I gained about 15 pounds, and my breasts got HUGE. Mine were already big and kept growing, so I had to switch to a lower dose. I would definitely recommend this birth control to anyone."

For Birth Control "I've been on Sprintec for about seven months. I was originally on Depo-Provera shots, which stopped my normally sporadic and horrific periods completely but left me gaining weight dangerously fast and killed my sex drive completely. Sprintec doesn't seem to have any of the side effects of Depo. My periods are light and on time exactly every 28 days, lasting 3 or four days tops, my skin is flawless, and although I do have some light mood changes accompanying PMS (which is something over the Depo, which seemed to completely rob me of all emotion), it's so inexpensive, I would and often do highly recommend it."

For Birth Control "I have been taking Sprintec for 9 months now and can't wait for my prescription to be up so I can switch. The first 2 months, I experienced extreme loss of appetite, depression, suicidal thoughts, panic, anxiety, and insomnia. The next 4 months, I leveled off. My periods were painless and light! 2 months ago, the bloating and weight gain began. I can't eat anything without feeling bloated/sick. I wake up in the middle of the night with menstrual cramps all throughout the month. I have put on 30 lbs in 2 months. I am an active person and work 40 hrs a week. I eat a raw vegan diet, and I practice yoga daily. This amount of weight gain doesn't add up. The one positive about Sprintec is it prevents pregnancy, but I hate this roller coaster ride."

For Birth Control "I didn’t notice the weight gain at first, then my bigger pants were snug. I gained 30 pounds over 3 years. When I started Sprintec is when I started putting on weight. With Yaz, I never gained weight at all. I stopped Sprintec a week ago and am no longer hungry constantly, and have lost 3 pounds already. Now I have to get the rest of the weight off."

For Birth Control "I am completely satisfied with this birth control. Been on it for 3 years and my fiancé and I have sex at least 5 times a week. I had some weight gain when I first started using it, but my period is always on time and it only lasts 3 days. The pill helped me with the awful PMS I used to have and cleared up my skin."

For Birth Control "I had a horrible experience with Sprintec. My face became oily and broke out with painful acne. I was constantly bloated and gained a lot of weight. On top of that, I thought I had irritable bowel syndrome because I constantly had digestive issues such as constipation, gas, and diarrhea; however, I learned that a high dose of estrogen can actually cause this. I stopped taking the pill, and after a few days, my digestion and acne problems went away, and after a week or two, I lost all the weight I gained. Everyone's body is different, but I thought the digestion problems were worth noting because I've never known that being a side effect of the pill!"

For Birth Control "Sprintec was wonderful for me. The only reason I had to stop using it was because I had developed blood clots due to it being estrogen. I had no side effects and was on it, on and off, for 7 years. I did gain weight, but I think that was because I was still in college and was lazy, but it was over a couple of years and not all at once. Did not lose my sex drive. Did not get pregnant once while being on it. I had skipped it a few times due to forgetting, and I have taken it late, but still didn't get pregnant."

For Birth Control "I started Sprintec in 2015, and it was fine. I did gain weight, but that may have been because I was starting college. I was on Sprintec until 2017 because I then decided to get the IUD. WORST decision of my life. The IUD caused a lot of unwanted side effects. I finally decided to get back on Sprintec about 6 months ago, but now I am experiencing more side effects than when I first took it in 2015. Mainly, my mood swings a week before my period are CRAZY. I feel like crying all the time, I get angry so easily, and my temper is so unpredictable."

For Birth Control "Sprintec did its job of preventing pregnancy and had the added benefit of clearing my skin. For the 3 months I was on it, however, I experienced a 10 lb weight gain (I’ve had no issues keeping weight off in the past, but even with intense exercise every other day and calorie counting on the pill, my weight gradually rose without drastic lifestyle changes). I also experienced the worst mood swings of my life (anger, irritation) and had really dark thoughts almost every time I restarted the pills for the month and came off of them for my period week. My breasts were excruciatingly tender (even laying on my back hurt them) for the first 2 months, though this stopped during my 3rd month. My libido was non-existent within the first month of starting the pill. Since going off of the pills for good, I’ve lost 9 lbs in 2 weeks, which makes me think that most of the weight was water retention. My mood is back to normal, and my libido has come back, though so has my acne."

For Birth Control "I started Sprintec when I was 17 (now 18). It did its job, and I was ecstatic. Around a year, I gained 15 pounds and noticed that my anxiety and depression were getting worse than previously. I expressed concern to my OBGYN and was repeatedly told that Sprintec does NOT affect those things. Fast forward to the week I stopped, there wasn’t a moment of my life for the past several months that wasn’t in crippling fear. Car rides, my loved ones out to kill me, losing my boyfriend... I was at the point of insanity and extremely close to the edge. I made an appointment with a DIFFERENT doctor to get on meds, but since I really didn’t want to, we decided to try a different type of contraceptive. It’s been 2 weeks since I stopped, and I’ve slowly been able to do the things that caused me immense amounts of fear. My panic attacks are still here, but they’re less often and intense. It honestly feels weird not consistently being anxious and depressed. If you are suffering, please don’t be afraid to stop/switch."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I've been taking Sprintec to help with my acne for about six months now, it's caused me to gain almost five pounds and hasn't done anything to help my acne at all. On top of that, I've had my period for two months straight! I was thinking it was because I'm taking doxycycline with it and it can mess up the absorption of Sprintec, but I've honestly given up on it. There's no reason to take it if it's only making my life worse."

For Birth Control "First month on this pill, no weight gain so far. I have noticed that my appetite increased a tad. Start my second pack tomorrow. Period came on for 4 days this month and was heavy for 3 of the days. Walmart fills it for free with my insurance. Acne is slowly clearing up."

For Birth Control "Been taking Sprintec for two months, and it’s been breaking me out like crazy. Other than that, and mild weight gain, it’s improved my mood. Did anyone else experience serious breakouts? How long did it take to see acne clearing?"

For Birth Control "I switched from the Depo shot to Sprintec. If you are going from a different type of BC, then I don't really think you will see all of the side effects. With the shot, I lost hair, gained weight, got moody, and people say they experience these things from the pill too. On Sprintec, I was a little sick to my stomach the first week, but now it has reduced down to nothing. You will get a few side effects that you will not like when taking any kind of BC with hormones, however, think about a little sacrifice you are willing to make in order to not have an unplanned pregnancy."

For Birth Control "I started taking birth control for the first time back in October. Since I was 23 and had never been on the pill, I was expecting the worst: weight gain, acne, mood swings, no sex drive... and for the first 2 months of Sprintec, I can say all of that was true. But I just finished month 3 on Sprintec and WOW. My face is a smooth porcelain complexion, I've lost several pounds, my sex drive has been gradually growing week by week, and my mood swings are dissipating. I still get PMS-like symptoms the week before my placebos, but I had those before the pill, so really no complaint there. My depression hasn't improved, but it hasn't gotten worse either. I was depressed before the pill, so I can't say if Sprintec has affected that any."

For Birth Control "'Studies show no connection between the pill and weight gain...' I went over 15 years on a steady weight, steady diet, and activity level. Started this pill and within 4 yrs 25 lbs gained. Yes, this pill caused me to gain weight. PROS: Reduced period cramps/pain, period on a set schedule, lighter, shorter flow, clear glowing skin (in combination with CeraVe and women's vitamin), calmer mood, no mood swings, less anxiety, no babies. CONS: No sex drive, weight gain, occasional feeling of morning sickness, recurring bacterial vaginosis (while being sexually inactive)."
