"First, I know everyone reacts differently to birth control. When I first started BC, I had migraines so bad, but soon they went away, as well as had bad acne, and that cleared as well. I switched to Estarylla from Sprintec. I’m currently in my 3rd week of the pill and have had weird mood swings, stomach bloating, and cramping (while I’m not on my period), and have had no appetite, but when I do eat, I feel nauseous. I’m hoping that I have the symptoms now, but like my acne and migraine on Sprintec, they go away after the first month. Everyone reacts their own way. I have a sensitive tummy, so I make sure to take my pill in the evening and to eat with it. I’ve also come to the conclusion that while on this pill, to drink LOTS of water because I feel drained of energy all the time, and the water seems to help."

For Acne "I have tried many different birth controls, and I'm about to be starting this one. I’m not sure how it will work yet. If you are on this site, you’re looking for answers, right? The best birth control I was on was the PATCH! I had the clearest skin even in the summer heat. I had unfortunately had to stop it, but if you’re looking for answers on acne, that might be a good route (sorry this wasn’t about Estarylla)."

For Birth Control "If I could rate this as a 0/10, I would. I was reluctant to take this after reading reviews on here, but my doc assured me it would be okay. WRONG. Within one week of taking this, I would cry at the smallest things, I was extremely moody, I was nauseous ALL DAY, and I began to develop cystic acne. I have not once had an issue with any of these things until I started this birth control. I would not recommend this at all. It did prevent pregnancy, but the side effects were NOT worth it."

For Endometriosis "Was given to treat endometriosis. Have only been taking a week and have had severe abdominal and back pain. Horrible acne, nausea, and hot flashes. I'm getting off this immediately, it's so unpleasant."

For Birth Control "I was switched to Estarylla last month after Mononessa was discontinued. It has been absolutely horrible. I have had the worst backaches, my acne started to come back, and my cramps have become as bad as they were before I was put on birth control. Although I have not tried Sprintec yet, I will be switching immediately."

For Birth Control "If I could give this pill 0 stars, I would. As most people, I started with Mononessa. I took Mononessa for about 3 years until one day Walgreens switched me to Sprintec. Then, a month later, they switched me to Estarylla. I haven't been the same ever since. I've been on it for a good two months, hoping the side effects would disappear. They didn't. For these past two months, I have been unbelievably depressed. I have also been spotting every day. I get itchy spots all over my skin, and at first I thought it was some kind of bug bite, until I read these reviews. I also use birth control pills for acne. When I was on Mononessa, my face was so clear. When I started taking Estarylla, I started getting breakouts which turned into terrible acne. At least I'm not pregnant though... right? All of that just to not have a kid? Count me out. I am calling my doctor ASAP to see if they can switch me to a different pharmacy. I do NOT recommend this pill to ANYONE."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Sprintec 5 years ago because I suffer from such horrible cramps and bleeding during my period. Sprintec helped me drop weight more quickly, cleared the constant cystic acne I had suffered from for 10 years, and cured my cramping and heavy bleeding. After 2 years, my pharmacy started giving me Estarylla. I gained weight and fell into a depression. My skin also became cystic again. These issues cleared when they gave me Sprintec. On and off the last 5 years, my pharmacy (insurance company) has been switching me between 3 brands of this drug. When I'm on Estarylla, I'm a mess. I gain weight, my skin has cystic acne, I have depression and anxiety to the point of medication, I have depressed thoughts, I have 0 sex drive, I stop caring about life, and it takes effort to wake up and leave my house in the morning. I talked to my doctor, he wrote me a new prescription with the instructions I'm only to have Sprintec and no other brand, so that I don't have to suffer through Estarylla."

For Birth Control "This is the worst birth control I have ever been on. I have had every single bad side effect. I have gotten a lasting headache every single day, I am so anxious 24/7, and moody and angry and sad. I have never struggled with acne, but ever since I started this pill, I started breaking out, and they have not gone away since. I have gained 12 pounds in the last month, and that weight will not go away no matter what I try. On top of that, I had my period for the first 3 weeks of taking Estarylla. Horrible, horrible, horrible. I'm switching off of this ASAP."

For Birth Control "Terrible!!! My doctor switched me from Monessa to Estarylla, and it’s been torture. I’ve never had bad acne in my life or on Monessa, and a week into this, my face has been breaking out with massive acne clusters. My period has been 3 weeks after taking this pill for 2 months, and things keep getting worse. Getting off this ASAP!!"

For Birth Control "I absolutely love this birth control. Before I started taking this pill, my periods usually were either on time or up to a week late. They would last for a week, and they were very heavy. I also experienced a lot of cramping. After I started this pill, my period has come every month at the same time like clockwork. My periods now last roughly 3 days, and I don’t have any cramping symptoms anymore. I struggled with acne a lot through my teens and early twenties (2 rounds of Accutane), but now I have it mostly cleared up. This pill had no effect on my acne. I occasionally get one or two pimples a couple of days before my period begins."

For Birth Control "After being almost 2 weeks on it, I had to stop taking it, it made my depression worse as well as my anxiety. It made me super sensitive (which I'm normally not). I do get anxiety attacks, but never like this, it was almost every day, not to mention I broke out in horrible acne, which I've never had."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I have been taking this pill for over 6 months, and it is amazing! I used to have very abnormal periods, but now I only get my period for 4 days with little to no cramps. The only problem I had was I broke out for the first month and a half on the pill, but then my body started to get used to it. Also, it made my boobs huge!!! Definitely just wait it out and see how it works for your body! Mental health-wise, I felt fine. Don’t let these reviews scare you because they scared me, and I ended up being just fine :)"

For Birth Control "From my knowledge, I believe all bodies are different. We may experience different side effects, it doesn’t really mean the pills are bad. I will be 1 month with these pills, and honestly, I love them. Better than the ones I’ve had before. I haven’t gained a bit of weight, I haven’t experienced any type of emotions such as feeling sad, lonely, etc. No depression, and my sex drive has not changed. I also notice my period is not heavy, and it does not last 7 days, which I am happy for. However, I did notice I’ve been getting small acne on my cheeks, and also I’ve been experiencing light brown discharge. Not sure if it’s because I’m new to these pills and my body is getting used to it or if it may be from stressing since I’ve been working more than usual. Other than that, everything seems pretty good. Remember, ladies, all body types are different. Don’t freak out by reading other people’s experiences."

For Birth Control "My pharmacy recently switched manufacturing companies, so my BC switched from Sprintec to Estarylla. I've been on Sprintec for 5 years, never had an issue. I was once switched to the brand name but had bad acne because of it and was switched back to Sprintec. I just finished 1 pack of Estarylla and currently have my period. I'm having TERRIBLE mood swings. I'm usually moody the day before my period and not during. I feel like I want to punch a hole in a wall. That's how bad my mood swings and irritability are right now. I'm calling my OB/GYN first thing in the morning to get switched back and have my prescription sent to a different pharmacy. I should have believed the reviews before taking this horrible birth control."

For Birth Control "I was on Tri-Previfem for years with no problems: I had flawless skin, light periods, no weight gain. My pharmacy randomly switched me to Estarylla, and it’s been THE WORST. I now have the most painful cystic acne, and every pore on my face is visible! I’ve had random bleeding, embarrassingly strong and weird odor, bad nausea/vomiting, and abnormal food cravings too. I’ve thought I was pregnant so many times on this because of these side effects. I am extremely anxious all the time and paranoid on top of it all. For those still considering it: IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK!! I have more left of this pack, but I’m throwing it out, I can’t take it anymore! I’d rather prevent pregnancy by being abstinent than to keep suffering on Estarylla."

For Birth Control "I was switched from MonoNessa to another one of the generics, Estarylla, because my pharmacy wasn't carrying MonoNessa anymore. This was in November of last year (2018). I was on Estarylla for a little less than 2 months (had to stop before a full two months because of the adverse effects). I was experiencing the worst acne I have ever had in my life, and I am finally now almost back to how I was before. I was depressed continuously (I don't have depressive tendencies), I would have outbreaks of anger and sadness (also not like me). Through this forum, I found that many people were feeling the way I was feeling and that it wasn't in my head. Since I have been off Estarylla, my face has cleared, I don't have as many headaches, and my mood has stabilized. The difference in my mood took about 5-10 days, and the process with my acne has taken a lot longer and is still going. I can't describe in completeness how I felt on this medication because it was so terrible."

For Ovarian Cysts "I have recently been taking Estarylla for about 1 month now and just stopped it completely. It did help with my secondary amenorrhea. I usually get my period once every 4-7 months, and I got it about a week ago. But I’m getting off it because I now have severe acne and weight gain. Not to mention, mood swings, constant UTIs, weight gain, bloating, and indigestion."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend this birth control to anyone. Immediately after starting this medication, I felt a complete shift in my emotions, and I was constantly finding myself lashing out at my boyfriend and getting mad at every little thing, which is nothing like myself. I had little to no acne before starting this pill, and it caused me to start breaking out with cystic acne all around my mouth and chin. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because I didn't get pregnant the 7 months I've been on it. Other than that, this pill is awful. My doc said to wait 6 months for the pill to completely balance out, but I can't stand it anymore, cause it's only getting worse. My depression and anxiety are at an all-time high, and my relationship is now suffering."

For Birth Control "I gave this a 6 because I had both positive and negative effects on this medication. I'll start with the positive. I have been taking it for four months and it's done its job in making sure I don't get pregnant. I do take it at the same time every day though. I also used to get irritated easily, and now it is very rare, so that's a plus. I hated being moody lol. Now the negative. The first week I started this medication, I got SEVERE headaches. I put up with them because I thought it was my body adjusting to the medication. I had a minor breakout, but nothing that concerned me. Fast forward to month 4, and I still have the headaches. I also now have large breakouts that I haven't gotten in years. My hair started to fall out as well, and I have ZERO sex drive. I don't feel like myself either. My periods are not shorter, but I don't get cramps, so that's good. I like that it's done its job, but the side effects are too much for me. I will be getting on a new birth control pill next month."

For Birth Control "I have been suffering from terrible mood swings, anxiety, and depression for a few months now and couldn’t figure out for the life of me what was wrong. It came on very suddenly. I am incredibly paranoid, anxious, irritable, sad most of the time, and just feel empty and not like myself at all! After reading these reviews, I now know why. Additionally, I had near-perfect skin before I started this BC, now I experience painful cystic acne and have nasty breakouts all over my face. My hair falls out in clumps. And I still get bad cramping before my period, which I thought this was supposed to help with. Getting rid of this immediately and trying something different. Only giving a 2 because I didn’t get pregnant, but my sex drive went down to below zero on this pill, so I guess that isn’t saying much anyways!!!!"

"I started taking this pill after the birth of my son in September. The first 2 months were fine, and my periods were great. It's now December, and I need to quit taking this pill. Horrid acne right before my period. I have now had 2 bouts of diarrhea and nausea so bad that I thought I was getting the stomach flu. I really hope it's this pill because this nausea is causing me to lose weight, and I can't deal."

For Birth Control "Started taking this medication a month ago, and I can say I hate it. The pharmacy switched my birth control brand to this from Monenessa. I was confused why I was put on this until the pharmacist told me that day insurance switched brands. Within the first month of taking this brand, I broke out in hives. Every time I take it on an empty stomach or full stomach, I feel nauseous, like I'm going to throw up. And it's also changed my mood swings. I would not recommend this pill for anyone, not to mention I broke out in acne as well. The brand I was on before worked wonderfully, and I want to go back ASAP. On a lighter note, this medication did make my menstrual cramps a whole lot lighter, and I'm not as heavy with bleeding. I still want to go back to my old brand."

For Birth Control "The worst birth control I have ever been on. My pharmacy stopped carrying Sprintec and put me on this instead, saying it was exactly the same. A few weeks after starting this, I developed the most painful cystic acne of my life. I highly recommend avoiding this at all costs if you are prone to breakouts."
