For Birth Control "I was prescribed Lo Lo for heavy bleeding and bad period cramps. I wanted to give the pill a chance. I started the pill about 3 1/2 months prior. For the first two months, my period came, but the bleeding was light, and I had minimal cramps. For the past three weeks, I've had non-stop spotting. I don't know why. Aside from that, I am depressed, and I feel out of it all the time. I was never depressed in my life. I have extreme mood swings. It's like one second I'm elated, and the next second I'm crying. I have nausea, bloating, and constipation every day. Lo Lo doesn't fit me. I really wanted to give it a try, but I'm cutting it off."

For Birth Control "I have just had my second pill. It's my first time using this. Omg, I've been feeling so bad. I've been having nausea and dizziness, and I feel indigestion and a lot of saliva in my mouth, and at the same time, dryness too. It's horrible. There's no way I can take another pill. My doctor sent me this because of my cystic problem, but I would rather find another way to treat them, or I recommend having a hormone test before. When I read the reviews, I got scared until I read a very nice one, so I decided to start mine. Only 2 pills, I feel I’m dying."

For Birth Control "I was recommended this birth control method by my gyno after having an ovarian cyst removed. I was taking another kind of pill, and it was going horribly. After I started taking these, I saw a major difference right away. I had more energy, tolerable periods which decreased over time, more control over my appetite, and after stopping, my periods and behavior went back to normal right away with no drastic changes. The only downside for me was that from time to time I would be nauseous, and I did get breast tenderness, but overall it was the best one I have tried. All birth control methods and brands have these similar side effects, and different women can experience them differently, but for me, this was definitely a winner."

For Birth Control "I'm currently on my sixth month of taking Lo Loestrin Fe for heavy periods, and it has definitely made my life better. I spotted daily the entire first month. The first few months, my period was definitely shorter and lighter, but I had some crazy cramps. The cramps are much better now, lessened over time. I haven't really experienced any psychological effects, I feel like it has stabilized my mood more. A few times, I forgot and took the pill late and experienced nausea and bleeding. So I definitely recommend taking it regularly at the same time every day, or you will experience side effects! Overall, it has worked well for me. I have a much easier-to-deal-with period that lasts about three days, I have a lot more energy because I'm not anemic anymore, I'm spending less on pads/tampons, my hair seems to be a bit thicker, and I haven't experienced any negative effects on my skin. It is also fully covered through my CVS Caremark insurance."

For Birth Control "This is the best pill that I have been on and have been on this more than 5 years. First of all, a very low dose of estrogen, it helps with my perimenopausal symptoms and cysts on ovaries. There is no nausea, no weight gain, no moodiness, and I probably only get my period 2-3 times a year. I will say you must take it at the exact same time every day, if you don’t, you will definitely spot or risk bleeding. I just set my phone alarm as a reminder. I highly recommend this pill."

For Birth Control "Lo Loestrin Fe nearly landed me in the hospital. I tried LLF for one week. Turns out that my body is extremely sensitive to estrogen changes, but I did not know this until AFTER LLF put me in essentially a crisis situation. After about a week of taking LLF, I started to experience EXTREME anxiety, 0-100% suicidal thoughts out of nowhere, and bizarre paranoid thoughts. I have always had some moderate anxiety issues, but NEVER any problems like this until I had started LLF. I felt nauseous and couldn't eat/sleep properly for days. I had to go under close watch of my OB/Gyn and a psychiatrist as they switched me off of these meds, and I was almost hospitalized because of it. All in all, it took me 2 weeks to get the med out of my system and MONTHS of multiple anxiety meds to bring my anxiety levels back to normal. The whole experience was scarring and it took a long time to recover from it-stay away!"

For Birth Control "Why I am taking this medicine: Hormone regulation, painful periods, painful ovulation. I do have fibroids, but I will consider removing them if they are still a problem after menopause. I am 45 years old, single mother, work full time, eat healthy, workout 3 to 4 days a week. No weight gain or sore breasts I have been reading about on here. Pros: I think this BC is great. Pain is gone, periods are lighter. I have used the patch and other pills before. Cons: I had some slight nausea. Take this with food at breakfast or lunch, and take it WITHIN a consistent time of day every day. Be sure to drink your water all day and eat healthy, well-balanced meals. Did it work for me: Yes. I do not have pain anymore; periods are very light."

For Birth Control "I started this birth control about two weeks ago for awful periods and an ovarian cyst. So far, this pill has made me incredibly nauseous, agitated, and constantly hungry. I’m not sure if these are normal side effects, but I’m hoping for the best. I’m halfway done with the first pack."

For Birth Control "I have been on this pill for three years now, and I’m super happy I decided to give it a shot! I used to be on the pill (Diane 35) and had horrible nausea. With this pill, I never experienced any nausea, just breast tenderness in the first couple of months of use. This pill has stabilized my moods, cleared up all acne, and even allowed me to go up a cup size! I used to have full seven-day periods that would leave me feeling unwell, and now I rarely ever get a period, which I’m totally fine with! Overall, I highly recommend trying this pill if you’re considering it. I’m 25, 5’4”, and 105 lbs for reference."

For Birth Control "Worst birth control I’ve ever had in my life. I have had constipation, diarrhea, back pain that makes me cry, it’s so bad, nausea, and vomiting. I can’t enjoy a single meal, and I’m too afraid to eat. I have zero sex drive, I’m like a brick wall, and I feel so bad for my boyfriend. I get blackout after two drinks and am hungover. Weight gain, and I’m always bloated. Now I am getting acne and skipped periods. It’s the worst birth control I’ve ever had in my life, beware. Happy for those of you who love it. I’m jealous, trust me, but this is not any way to live."

For Birth Control "I was so scared of getting on the pill and even more when I saw the bad reviews saying that it was the worst thing ever. But don't let the reviews scare you in advance without trying because it worked well for me. I am a person that often has mood swings and a history with depression, but it didn't worsen my mood. I didn't gain any weight, my skin is still clear, and I'm even less bloated! However, the first days I started, my head was exploding and I felt sick, but after 3 days it was completely gone. I don't feel any nausea nor digestive issues. The only thing that is a little weird is the spotting that I had the 2 first months, but it went away. And so far, I haven't got pregnant, so I guess it works."

For Birth Control "I had an abdominal myomectomy several years ago. Unfortunately, my fibroids returned with a vengeance, and I had heavy bleeding from the fibroids. My cycle was so heavy last summer that I went to the ER. After my ER visit, my doctor put me on Lysteda. It worked very well for the first 3-4 months. Then, my cycles were heavy again. My doctor suggested Lo Loestrin Fe. I started taking these in mid-March on the first day of my cycle. Today is July 27, and I have had my period almost EVERY DAY since mid-March. My doctor said that I have to give my body at least 6-9 months to adjust to the pills. The upside is that I am not experiencing any of the 'normal' side effects. No nausea, acne, tender breasts, weight gain, etc. I just want a couple of weeks without spotting or full-on bleeding."

For Birth Control "I was on this for a year before having to switch due to switching insurance and the out-of-pocket cost. When I first started this medication, I did have pretty serious nausea that cleared up within two weeks after my body was able to adjust from the switch. After that, I never noticed any other side effects. I did take this in combination with Topamax, so weight gain was not an issue for me like others mentioned. I also took this in a continuous method in order to prevent mood swings, and this worked extremely well for me. So that being said, I cannot attest to how it affected my periods other than I did not have any spotting, etc. It worked extremely well for me, and I did not experience any depression or any other negative side effects."

For Birth Control "I am 26 and have been on this BC for 6 months now. I took another brand (with higher dose) before, but it caused a lot of negative side effects, including fainting, night blood pressure, and nausea. My doctor recommended Lolo for managing my PCOS, and it has been great. The first pack was like an adjusting period where the cycle was irregular, disgusting discharge, etc. Periods now come regularly. No weight gain (or loss). Blood pressure remains the same. Because it has the lowest dose among all other brands, I have to take it every day and at the same time or I will have light bleeding (like one drop...) the next day. Why go with a higher dose when you can achieve the same effect with lower?"

For Birth Control "Guys, please realize that birth control works differently for every woman. I used to have 10-day-long periods, extremely heavy (as in using 3-4 super tampons a day even at day 10), along with extreme pain from cramping, and I lost 20 pounds because of throwing up a lot on my period. I missed school/work three times every month. Once I got on this pill, my whole life changed. I never gained weight, never lost my appetite, or had anything major happen to me ever since. No cramps or nausea, sometimes no periods, but most months just spotting, and clear skin. I’ve been on this pill for 8.5 years. When I started as a teenager, my breasts got a little bigger and that was really it. The only problem I had with this pill was that I’m a little bit more emotional. I used to have no emotion like a zombie. Now I can cry to a sad rom-com movie, which is more normal than before when I wouldn’t even cry at a funeral of a family member. Anyways, thanks to my doctor and this pill for everything!"

For Birth Control "I just started using this a few days ago, and I’m sick as a dog. I'm constantly nauseous, and I’ve found my anxiety has been unbearable. I want to stick it out, but the side effects so far aren’t even worth it. I deal with irregular periods and have had periods last up to 3 months, so I figured this would work better than the last BC I tried, which made me gain a ton of weight, but this is honestly miserable."

For Birth Control "Started Lo Loestrin Fe 3 months ago to prevent pregnancy and help with period cramps. I have a long, painful history with birth control pills. I have tried at least 5 different brands, and every one of them made me extremely nauseous until now. My personal pros for this pill include: no cramps, no nausea like others have caused, no headaches, more appetite, weight gain (which I needed). My cons: mood swings, skipped my period (I like to have my period so I know that I’m not pregnant), sore breasts but only for a couple of days before my period, slightly lower sex drive and fatigue. Everyone is different and everyone’s body reacts differently to different medicines, but I personally would recommend this one if you’ve had trouble with nausea on birth control pills. I take it around the same time every night, and so far it’s been effective."

For Birth Control "I started Lo Loestrin 10 days ago. It has been great so far. No spotting, bleeding, or side effects except I felt nauseous for two days around lunchtime. I will update soon. I had the Mirena for 3 years, and it was great, but then I started having hot flashes for the last year and couldn't figure it out. I knew it had to be related to the IUD. When they removed it, the hot flashes went away. Also, I had this chronic back pain like it was my SI joint, and my right foot would go numb sometimes. I had 4 SI injections and switched jobs, but it didn't help. When they removed the IUD, it went away! Dr. said it must have been on a nerve in the uterus."

For Birth Control "While I feel like every single person reacts differently to different birth controls, I'd still like to show that for me in particular, Lo Loestrin Fe worked absolutely beautifully. The first few months were a little rough, as expected for a first-time birth control user. The only hard part in these two months was that my periods were very heavy and longer than usual; about 7 days as opposed to the normal 4. After my 'transition months,' I've completely stopped getting periods or any bleeding for the past 4 months now, and it has been great. I have no mood swings, acne, weight gain, headaches, nausea, etc. This being said, everyone reacts differently. Personally, I'm in love with everything except for the price ($250/mo), which is why I have to switch."

For Birth Control "Absolutely horrible! Will not recommend to anyone. I had my period either every week or every two weeks for the 3 months I was on it, crazy high and low mood swings, nausea, dizzy spells, low mood most days, and leg pain for the first month, so bad that after work most days I couldn’t stand. Hate this birth control and switching to patch, hopefully, it’s better."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lo Loestrin for almost 2 months and was extremely nervous, since the last birth control I had been on did not work at all. Lo Loestrin has been absolutely great for me. I weigh 120 and am 19 years old. I have experienced no mood swings, heavy bleeding, headaches, nausea, or vomiting. I would definitely recommend anyone to give this birth control a shot!"

For Birth Control "I would rather deal with my heavy periods, pads the size of mattresses, and PMS than subject myself to another day of this garbage pill. I've been on for a month, in that month, I have been sick every couple of days with dizziness, nausea, and diarrhea. At first, I thought maybe I was lactose intolerant from the creamer in my morning coffee, but nope, it's this garbage. My gyno said maybe I caught something. For a month?!?!?!? Finding another pill and gyno. Beware, ladies."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Lo Lo for at least 3 years. I love this birth control! After having bad experiences with a couple higher dosage pills (severe depression, which I had never had in my life), my doctor recommended this one because of its low hormones. My mood improved drastically, and I experienced no breakouts, nausea, or weight gain. I never get my period, which is a win for me."

For Birth Control "I started Lo Loestrin in mid-April of this year and only experienced bad side effects the first week of taking it. I would wake up in the middle of the night with nausea, but that was expected by my doctor. I got my period in May, it was short and fairly light (I used to have terribly heavy periods). I didn’t get my period in June, though, and it’s now July, so I’m hoping it comes. I personally don’t like the fact it doesn’t come regularly because I think every woman has a small “what if I’m pregnant” thought in the back of their heads, lol. I’ve been reading a lot of reviews, and most say they don’t get their period more than 2-4 times per year... kinda scary but also kinda puts me more at ease. Other than that, I don’t experience any side effects, and I’m only moody once in a while."

For Birth Control "I have very painful periods that include bloating, painful swelling of my breasts (normal bra size: 30E to period bra size: 30FF), shooting pains down my legs, constipation, ovarian cysts, nausea, etc. After several trips to the ER for pain, I was diagnosed with PMDD and possible endometriosis. To combat my monthly symptoms, I've tried several birth control methods from NuvaRing, Loestrin Fe, and Yaz to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and Mircette. Each of these pills seemed to amplify the above problems for my entire cycle and made me gain 8-15 pounds. Lo Loestrin Fe is the only pill my body can tolerate. During the first month, I was nauseous, broke out a little, and my breasts became fuller but not painful- that's it!"
