For Birth Control "I do not recommend this birth control! I've been taking it for almost 3 weeks, and my body feels completely different. This pill made me very nauseous, bloated, moody, and tired. It also made my periods closer together and my cramps more painful. Definitely going off of it."

For Birth Control "I started this pill to try and lighten my period and regulate my cramps, as well as prevent pregnancy, as I am in college. I was previously on Accutane but have had clear skin for the past four years. The first month on this pill, my hormonal cystic acne was HORRIBLE. It also made me extremely nauseous the first month. The last three months have contained consistent headaches, horrible cramps, constant breakthrough bleeding, terribly swollen and sore boobs, and bloating. The only upside of this pill is that I didn't gain any weight, and my period is only 1-2 days long and is more like spotting. I did miss it the first month, though."

For Birth Control "Started Lo Loestrin Fe January 3rd, was fine the first week, no weight gain or anything-until the second week. Started my period during active pills, cramping like nobody's business, medium flow, nausea worsened more than normal periods. Everyone said stick it out, but my mood has decreased significantly as well, changing to a different one Sunday."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lo Loestrin for a little over a month now. I've experienced slight weight gain (no more than 5 lbs, all of which seemed to end up around my midsection, of course!). No increase in breast size, which I was greatly hoping for. I was previously on Ortho Tri-Cyclen for a month, and that was bad. The lower dose of hormones in this pill seems to really be working for me. However, I didn't even get so much as a slight period last week when I was supposed to have one. I'm one of those women who want a period EVERY month, just to be sure, so I'm a bit unhappy with the lack of a period on this birth control. I occasionally experience nausea, fatigue, and irritability, but nothing that interferes terribly with my life."

For Birth Control "I will start by saying that I used to loathe birth control and was an advocate for natural periods. Life taught me a lesson. I was diagnosed and had surgery for endometriosis in April 2021. After surgery, the doctor told me the endo would come back if I didn't start hormonal therapy to suppress my periods. I was against it and waited until August to convince myself to start LoLo. My biggest fear was weight gain. I am so glad I gave this a try. This pill stabilized my hormone levels and made me feel better than I ever have in 7 years investigating my pain and hormonal issues. No more crazy mood swings. No more heavy debilitating periods. No more 10 days of misery of PMDD. Side effects I noticed: nausea, headache, sore breasts, and bloating. They all went away within the first 3 months. I still experience some bloating and sore breasts around my period, nothing unbearable. Due to stable hormones, I was able to lose 10 lbs already. This pill changed my life for the better."

For Birth Control "About to finish my third week. Started the pill on the first day of my period, so my period lasted a little longer than usual. I take it at night before bed to minimize the side effects. It did cause me to wake up a little nauseous a couple nights, and I did get a couple of zits over the last couple of weeks. I usually just get one zit the week before my period to let me know it's around the corner. I haven't really noticed any other side effects. I am a little bloated, but I think it's because my period is around the corner. All in all, the first few weeks have been surprisingly tolerable. I was scared at first, but it seems like this may just work out for me. I will update during my second month to keep you all posted."

For Birth Control "I started Lo Loestrin Fe 3 weeks ago, and so far have had a great experience on it, no weight gain, (I've actually lost 3 lbs) and if anything, my moods are a lot better, no nausea, no headaches. Overall, this pill is good so far. I was put on this due to very heavy bleeding every month, and clots the size of plums coming out every 10 min from me. I had a DNC to try and correct bleeding before I started the pill, and that worked for 2 months, then went right back to the same thing, bleeding like crazy for weeks with clots. About 3 days into the pill my bleeding has completely stopped, no cramps, no clots. I worry about the weight gain, so hopefully I will not gain. Overall, I think this pill is doing its job and I would recommend."

For Birth Control "I've just completed my first pack, and for me, so far, so good. There's always so many negatives that I thought I'd do a positive... I was on the Mirena for 9 months - the worst (for me). I essentially bled/spotted for those 9 months, gained weight, and had severe back acne. I'm surprised I held out that long. Had Mirena removed, along with a polyp, and because of high BP, I'm on Lo Loestrin Fe. No nausea, headaches, bloating, or mood swings at all. The only 'issue' is some minor spotting for about 9 days. I'm pretty sure this is because I didn't know when my actual cycle was with Mirena, so I just started Lo Loestrin Fe the day after my polyp removal. I'm guessing my body is just trying to figure itself out. I'm hopeful the spotting will stop and I'll be back to 'normal' soon!"

For Birth Control "I have been on this BC for 9 months, and it sucks! When I first got on it, I spotted a little, and it was perfect. I didn’t gain weight, and when I was supposed to be on my period, it was super light and painless. The first 2 1/2 months that I was on Lo Loestrin was perfect until the end of the 3rd month. I started spotting out of nowhere, and I thought it was going to last only a couple of days. I was completely wrong. I spotted for 3 1/2 weeks straight. It was just a little bit each day, but it was really annoying. I also noticed that once I started taking the pill, I was unable to use pads because of the uncontrollable itching! I’m also severely anemic, so I was weak all of the time when I was spotting. It eventually cleared up, and the pill worked perfectly again for another 2 1/2 months until I started spotting again out of nowhere for 7 weeks! I was weak and nauseous all of the time. I finally went to my doctor, and I am supposed to change to Sprintec next week."

For Birth Control "I have taken every birth control known to man, and this one was the only one I could tolerate for nausea and upset stomach. Although, after being on it for several months, I have reoccurring consistent UTIs, at least one every two months, acne on my back (I have NEVER had acne), horrible mood swings, significant hair loss, lack of energy, headaches, suicidal thoughts, and horrible anxiety. I was so conflicted and second-guessed my side effects with this pill, after getting off of it, all of those symptoms were gone. Ladies, it's NOT worth it."

For Birth Control "Been on this for 4 months. First month I had a little nausea, and I got my period twice in the first 3 weeks, each time lasting about 4 days. After that, it went straight to a normal cycle. I went from soaking through 4-5 pads a day on my heaviest days to just some brown discharge. No weight gain, but I'm having a little harder time taking weight off (maybe in my head?). Sex drive is down a little, but it's a small price to pay to not act like a crazy woman! Even my husband says he can't believe the difference in my moods. (In a good way!) My face cleared up, and minimal period! Working wonders for me!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this Lo Loestrin pill for almost 3 months due to heavy periods and also to prevent pregnancy. I don't know if this is normal, but on the placebo pills, I get very light brownish blood looking, and one day was just very light blood. I get headaches sometimes and feel lightheaded and nauseous sometimes. But overall, the pill is fine. I would just like to get a real period to indicate that I'm not pregnant."

For Birth Control "I started Lo Loestrin Fe about one month ago. I switched from NuvaRing to the pill. Everyone is different, but for reference, I'm 26, 5'8", 130. I'm pretty healthy and wanted to see how this would work, and now I've had nausea for about 3 weeks, low sex drive, low appetite. My skin and weight have not changed at all. Called my doc, and she said my body is getting used to the meds. Hoping this ends soon because it's no fun!"

For Birth Control "My experience with Lo Loestrin Fe has not been great. I’ve gotten a lot of acne, had terrible mood swings, and I am so nauseous every day to the point that I don’t want to eat or move. I originally was prescribed this birth control to help regulate my periods, and it has not helped at all. This birth control may work great for some and not so great for others."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this medication for about a week now, and my main purpose for it was to regulate and lighten my periods, as well as help with acne. After 4 days of taking it, I kept waking up with really bad cramps and brown spotting, which is really annoying. I feel bloated all the time, and I experience really bad gas pain. I also have really bad headaches and felt nauseous every day so far. I really hope all this stuff starts to subside and starts working."

For Birth Control "I started taking Lo Lo after having been off birth control for almost a year. I stopped taking birth control to simply let my body reset because I'm 31 and have been taking it since I was 16. After less than a month of being on this medication, I feel extremely weak, tired, cloudy-headed, and at night-nauseous. Plus, I've gained over 15 pounds with major bloating! My eating habits haven't changed, nor have my lifestyle choices. I'm not going to continue the prescription and am going to ask my doctor for a new option. I know everyone is different, but I didn't have a good reaction to these at all."

For Birth Control "I took this pill for 2 and a half years for my heavy periods. I recently switched because my new insurance won't cover this one. The first month, I experienced little to no side effects, but month two was horrible. I had severe headaches, dizziness, constant spotting, etc., but I waited it out. The symptoms all went away by the 3rd month. From then until I got off it, it was wonderful! It made my periods really light and only lasted around 3 days. I used to have horrible cramps and nausea, but on this pill, I had no nausea, and the cramps were very little, I almost never had to take medicine for the pain. I did experience some weight gain, though, 25 lbs in 2 years, but I also didn't eat too healthily, so I'm also to blame. Altogether, good experience!"

For Birth Control "My OB/GYN put me on this pill because I have ovarian cysts that rupture, causing severe pain, and he said the hormones would prevent that from happening. I've been on it for about 2 weeks or so now, and my main problem with it is that I get a migraine almost every single day now, and I feel nauseous every single day, and it gets worse at night. I also experience strong food cravings, and certain smells make me feel like puking, or thinking about certain foods makes me feel sick to my stomach too. Other than that, it's great, I guess. I've never been on birth control before, so I guess it's doing what it's supposed to."

For Birth Control "I read a lot of reviews before I took the Lo Loestrin Fe. No one wrote that it can make you crazy. At first, I was feeling good, no problem at all. Here and there, I had nausea, but that was nothing compared to the cramps I was having before. Then, I started having night sweats... (by the way, this was my first time taking birth control, and I only took the pills for 6 months). After taking the pill for about 5 months, I've noticed that I'm having a lack of interest in things, feeling sad, crying, negative thoughts. These thoughts really scared me. All this time, I've been consulting with my OBGYN, and she asked me if I was pregnant and said it had nothing to do with the pill."

For Birth Control "I have very painful periods that include bloating, painful swelling of my breasts (normal bra size: 30E to period bra size: 30FF), shooting pains down my legs, constipation, ovarian cysts, nausea, etc. After several trips to the ER for pain, I was diagnosed with PMDD and possible endometriosis. To combat my monthly symptoms, I've tried several birth control methods from NuvaRing, Loestrin Fe, and Yaz to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and Mircette. Each of these pills seemed to amplify the above problems for my entire cycle and made me gain 8-15 pounds. Lo Loestrin Fe is the only pill my body can tolerate. During the first month, I was nauseous, broke out a little, and my breasts became fuller but not painful- that's it!"

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for over a year, and overall, I had a really positive experience with it. I didn't experience any mood swings, had little to mild acne around my period, never experienced any pregnancy scares, and had no nausea, headaches, or weight gain. The only problem I experienced with it, and ultimately had to switch birth control because of it, was the fact that I would throw up for hours whenever I consumed ANY amount of alcohol. To make sure it was the birth control, I stopped taking it, and after 4 or so months, I was able to drink again without any problems. Though I feel this is a very rare situation, overall, I believe this birth control was great."

For Birth Control "I was prescribed Lo Lo for heavy bleeding and bad period cramps. I wanted to give the pill a chance. I started the pill about 3 1/2 months prior. For the first two months, my period came, but the bleeding was light, and I had minimal cramps. For the past three weeks, I've had non-stop spotting. I don't know why. Aside from that, I am depressed, and I feel out of it all the time. I was never depressed in my life. I have extreme mood swings. It's like one second I'm elated, and the next second I'm crying. I have nausea, bloating, and constipation every day. Lo Lo doesn't fit me. I really wanted to give it a try, but I'm cutting it off."

For Birth Control "I started taking this birth control pill as my first time trying BC. I really loved it. It didn't affect my libido at all, I didn't have any nausea. Basically, it gave me no side effects and no baby! It was really great. Unfortunately, it was being offered at my college for 25 dollars, but it's significantly more expensive out of pocket without the college discount, so I had to switch once my college stopped discounting it. I've switched a few pills since then, but I still haven't found one as good as Lo Loestrin Fe."

For Birth Control "I have just had my second pill. It's my first time using this. Omg, I've been feeling so bad. I've been having nausea and dizziness, and I feel indigestion and a lot of saliva in my mouth, and at the same time, dryness too. It's horrible. There's no way I can take another pill. My doctor sent me this because of my cystic problem, but I would rather find another way to treat them, or I recommend having a hormone test before. When I read the reviews, I got scared until I read a very nice one, so I decided to start mine. Only 2 pills, I feel I’m dying."

"Awful, my prior pill, Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, was no longer getting manufactured. Had zero issues on that one, perfect. Suggested trying this as an alternative low-dose pill. Fought through the first 3 months, was BAD. I felt like a dark cloud hanging over me, depressed, bad thoughts about life, never had this on the pill I was taking before. Nausea, enlarged breasts getting close to the end of the pack, period doesn’t come at all, just feel exhausted 5-10 days or so near the end of the pack, like I took a sedative every day. Started napping during the day, never was like that before. Went to the doctor for a blood workup thinking my nutrients were off or low iron, all was fine, so it is definitely the pill. Mood swings like crazy towards the end of the pack, crying, sensitive, anxiety, etc. I suffered through all this month by month because I’m out of low-dose options and wanted to be on something, but planning to stop in a week. I can say I tried to just bear with the symptoms but can’t live forever like this. Suggest trying if considering, but you’ve been warned."
