For Birth Control "I'm being generous in giving this a 2, because it seems to affect some others differently. I'm 3 weeks in, have bled for a week and a half now, have serious cramps, nausea, and out-of-body mood/temper. Was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen back in the day and was fine. Never understood others when they said birth control drove them crazy. I now see what they mean!"

For Birth Control "I'm a week from completing my 2nd pack of this birth control, and so far, so good. My first two weeks, I experienced slight nausea, nothing to stop my day. I did have recurrent headaches during that period as well, however, they've diminished in occurrence. My first 'period' was extremely light. I only saw pale streaks upon wiping, nothing transferred to my liner. I have experienced a leap in my appetite, so I've had to take more care in my eating habits. Overall, I'd recommend this pill to others. My effects have been minimal, and I still feel like myself."

For Birth Control "Initially, I read many of these reviews and became horrified at some of the side effects people were listing. Seemed totally not worth it. Don't be turned off or scared by these select few! I would recommend this to anyone. Being on this BC has not affected or altered my body in any way whatsoever. No personality/mood swings of any kind, no weight gain/bodily changes, no acne, no migraines or back pain, no loss in sex drive, etc. If anything, there's been an increase in my sex drive, and I’ve noticed small bumps I may have had on my face clearing easily. My pre-period symptoms before and during my long and heavy periods were awful. Days off school and work since I was 11, nausea, fever, severe cramping, night sweats, headaches, back pain, etc. All this is now completely gone! Light and short period right at the end of the pack, I didn’t even notice it. It’s a dream come true. No pregnancy despite regular unprotected sex and lighter periods. Hopefully, it continues to be just as wonderful. Give it a go, people."

For Birth Control "This is amazing. I've been on it for 3 months, and my period is only 2 days and very light, as before it would last up to 8 days and was extremely painful. The only side effect I had was some nausea, but that went away after a few days. Overall, this is great, I would definitely recommend it."

For Birth Control "I've been on Lo Loestrin Fe for almost a year now. I really haven't had very many side effects with it. The one thing that's been a major problem is inconsistency with my periods, which was a problem before I started taking birth control too. There have been months when I haven't had a period at all, and others when I've had a period as well as breakthrough bleeding mid-month. I'm switching to a pill with a little bit more estrogen in it to see if that will regulate my period better. I haven't missed any pills, and I take them within two hours of one another every day. I was initially really worried about nausea being an issue, so I take them at night - but I've had no problems. I did have some breast tenderness for the first few months, but it's gone now."

For Birth Control "I have taken this birth control for over 6 months now and am very pleased with it. I previously had Implanon and had a lot of side effects with it, including bad mood swings and weight gain. After switching to Lo Loestrin Fe, I started experiencing a slight loss of appetite and some nausea, which made me lose 25 lbs that I had put on as a result of the Implanon. I could do without the nausea, but I'm pleased with the weight loss, especially because I was expecting to gain weight, if anything. I have had no bleeding besides when I slip up and forget to take my pill, besides some very light spotting at the end of my pill cycle, which I almost don't even notice most of the time."

For Birth Control "I'm 2 weeks into Lo Loestrin after Mirena IUD removal, and due to irregular periods and ovarian cysts. Not sure what's a Mirena removal side effect (Mirena crash) vs. Lo Loestrin side effect. But I've had headaches and anxiety, and really sad, sad days. Just blah. I'm going to update as time goes on to annotate any other pros/cons. I have been nauseous the past few days too."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lo Loestrin for 5 months. I haven’t been on birth control for more than 5 years because of family history of breast cancer and awful side effects when I’ve tried them before (IUD gave me ovarian cysts). I decided to take this birth control because I was diagnosed with PCOS and PMDD, and I was having irregular periods and severe PMS symptoms. I wanted to try to regulate when I got my period, so my mood would be more stable. This birth control was wonderful for me. No nausea or other annoying side effects, and my PMS anger settled after about 3 months. My periods when I am not taking birth control are heavy and last 7 days. On it, it’s about 3-4 days and heavy for the first 2 days."

For Birth Control "So far, so good! I had never been on birth control before and had read some horror stories about birth control, specifically this kind. The first few days, I had awful migraines -- after that, everything went completely back to normal. I feel like myself; in fact, I think my moods (especially around my period) are much more level than in the past. Some tenderness, little nausea, but nothing that I can't handle. I highly recommend this birth control and enjoy being on it!"

For Birth Control "I've only been on it for two months, but so far I love it! My period lasts 1-2 days, and it's super light! It does make me feel a little nauseous every now and then, but nothing too bad. Other than that, it's perfect! I still feel like myself, and my skin is super clear. I highly recommend this birth control, it's awesome!"

For Birth Control "I have been taking Lo Loestrin Fe for 2 months now and have only had one week of no spotting. The non-stop bleeding is very aggravating because I am unsure when my period begins, which has always been very regular. I have also been very irritable and emotional. The only positive effect I have experienced while taking this pill is no severe nausea. If the bleeding and mood swings have not stopped by the time I finish the third pack, I will be switching immediately!"

For Birth Control "I am still on my first pack of this pill, it is my first birth control pill. I have not had any bleeding issues or weight gain. In fact, I feel less bloated than usual. The only problem I have experienced is horrible nausea, I am hoping for it to pass soon."

For Birth Control "I do have a history of depression, migraines, and am currently 44 years old and am going through peri-menopause. (I have fairly mild peri-menopause symptoms currently: occasional night sweats, and my period is still fairly regular, with monthly frequency differing by only a couple of days each month.) Please use Lo Loestrin with caution when you start this because by the beginning of my third week, I started waking up at night with the worst night sweats I have ever had. My clothes and hair were completely soaked, so much so that I felt like I had just showered. I also woke in the middle of the night, running to the bathroom to vomit, and thought I was sick because I had been feeling nauseous for days. I became extremely irritable and started spotting and came down with one of the worst migraines I have had in a long time. Once the migraine hit, I went into a severe depression and have been crying for a week. I stopped taking the birth control two days ago. Hope this helps."

For Birth Control "I didn't see too many great reviews on this birth control, but I do realize our bodies are all different. I stopped taking birth control for a few years initially because of how badly it messed with my moods or made me feel 'not myself.' My doctor started me on Lo Loestrin Fe this year to help my cycle with abnormal bleeding and very heavy periods, as I wasn't sure if I wanted to commit to an IUD yet. So far, 6 months of Lo Loestrin Fe has been really positive for me!! In the beginning, you have the normal nauseous feeling and a couple of headaches, but after that, smooth sailing!! I think because of it being a lower dose, it doesn't affect my mood badly, it has also shortened and lightened up my periods significantly. This is just my experience, and for once, a birth control that works really well for me!"

For Birth Control "Previously spent 1 year on Lo Loestrin, recently started using it again. The worst symptom for me both times has been extreme nausea and occasional vomiting if I don't eat a substantial meal before taking it. I've found the nausea is much more infrequent now that I'm taking this pill in the evening, but I still have to make sure I'm eating consistently and drinking a lot of water to prevent it, which I should be doing anyway! The only other negative side effect is that my preexisting anxiety can be a bit worse at times, but it's still manageable. Giving this an 8/10 because everything else is positive: much lighter, short periods, improved complexion, and no weight gain. I went back to this pill because the benefits are personally worth it to me. It's definitely worth trying out."

For Birth Control "I've tried several BC pills, and this one is the worst. Spotting all month long. Cramps, headaches, nausea, moodiness, very tired. Do not take this unless you've done well with low-dose pills in the past. I've tried this one twice and never make it to the end of the pack. A lot of times, if you tell your gyno you're having side effects, they'll lower your dose... Sometimes you actually need a higher dose. Try Sprintec... It's the best one I've used so far! Do not take Lo Loestrin, not even as a free sample pack."

For Birth Control "So I have read some reviews of this pill that are bad, but my review will be great! I am on my 6th week taking this pill, and I'm so happy! My sex drive is back! Acne is clearing! Period is gone, lol, it disappeared, but oh well. (Not pregnant/took tests.) Only cons I have were that I do get a tad emotional and cry over little things. I had brown spotting for 2 weeks when I first started it, no appetite, and a tiny bit of nausea."

For Birth Control "My doctor put me on this because I was bleeding heavily throughout every month. I have been on birth control for the past 6 years. BeYaz was my last, which made me so nauseous, which I never experienced before, and constant bleeding. Since my switch to Lo Loestrin, the bleeding stopped, however, my cramps right now are severe. I also lost weight on this."

For Birth Control "First month was great. Slightly more anxiety, but thought it would surpass. The pill got worse month by month. More anxiety, more depression. Weight gain, nausea/vomiting, extremely painful periods with crazy mood swings. Cannot wait for this pack to be over so I can switch."

For Birth Control "I have been on 3 OCPs: Apri, Aviane, and Lo Loestrin Fe. I was not able to tolerate Apri and Aviane. My side effects included depression and a general feeling of sickness: headache and extreme nausea. Change in mood: hypersensitivity. Increase in breast size, but no breast sensitivity. No skin breakout or acne. The women in my family suffer from depression, anxiety, and are not able to tolerate OCPs very well. After consulting with my gynecologist, she recommended Lo Loestrin Fe. I've only been on Lo Loestrin Fe for 3 days. So far, I've had a great experience. The only minor effect, but tolerable, is night sweats. I take the pill at 9 pm, slight increase in anxiety, and slight stomach upset. My gynecologist gave me a sample, so I'm unsure of the price with insurance."

For Birth Control "I was on a Tri-Sprintec BC for about 7 years until I turned 25 and started to become super emotional and not able to control my emotions, so I talked to my doctor about switching. She suggested Lo Loestrin, which is a significantly lower dose of hormones. I was fine for the first month and a half. I felt nauseous during my period week but wanted to give my body time to adjust. By the time I made it to the end of month 3, I was getting a yeast infection every month during my period week, I was so nauseous I was throwing up and had constant anxiety to the point where I wasn’t eating. I went to the doctor, got tested for everything, took yeast infection meds, UTI antibiotics, and have tried everything to relieve being this uncomfortable that I think is vulvodynia. I finally stopped taking it after 4 months of pain. Follow your gut, if you feel like something is wrong, talk to your doctor immediately. The longer I went, the worse it’s gotten."

"Half of the reviews on here are from people who didn't manage to take it long enough. Well, guess what, after trying five different oral contraceptives, I have been on this drug for over ten years, and it's the only thing that ever worked for me. You may have worse side effects in the first few months, but the truth is you're gonna experience that with any birth control. After adjusting, I literally experienced no issues other than occasional nausea, bloating, and frequent missed periods. Completely cleared up my skin, too."

For Birth Control "I do not recommend this birth control! I've been taking it for almost 3 weeks, and my body feels completely different. This pill made me very nauseous, bloated, moody, and tired. It also made my periods closer together and my cramps more painful. Definitely going off of it."

For Birth Control "I started this pill to try and lighten my period and regulate my cramps, as well as prevent pregnancy, as I am in college. I was previously on Accutane but have had clear skin for the past four years. The first month on this pill, my hormonal cystic acne was HORRIBLE. It also made me extremely nauseous the first month. The last three months have contained consistent headaches, horrible cramps, constant breakthrough bleeding, terribly swollen and sore boobs, and bloating. The only upside of this pill is that I didn't gain any weight, and my period is only 1-2 days long and is more like spotting. I did miss it the first month, though."

For Birth Control "This was my first birth control, but I've got to say that it is probably the best birth control you can get since it has the lowest dosage of estrogen, which means you have the least side effects. Since it has such a low dosage, it's pretty dang pricey. The first month on this birth control is rough, and your first period will be a very bad period if you react to it like I did. I was bedridden from cramps, and I bled a lot, but honestly I was used to it since the reason I'm taking it is because of nasty periods. After the first period, it was amazing. My periods lasted 3-4 days, barely any bleeding, zero cramps, and I had no side effects! No weight gain, no acne, no mood swings, or nausea. It's wonderful. I highly recommend this birth control."
