For Birth Control "I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 15 and was recommended by my OBGYN to take this birth control pill. I did experience mild nausea in the adjustment period, but the symptoms did go away. I’ve been using it for over 5 years, and it seems to work for me. My periods are very light, and some months I don’t get one at all. I also tried Junel Fe for a brief period (when my insurance stopped covering Lo Loestrin) and I tried the NuvaRing as well, but this pill was still the best option that I have tried."

For Birth Control "I was on this Lo Loestrin birth control for 6 months and absolutely hated it. Within the first 2 months, I was having breakthrough bleeding multiple times a week, and after the second month, I stopped getting a period for 2 1/2 months and suddenly started a heavy, painful period again, weekly. Not to mention how terribly moody I was, I actually felt like I was going crazy. Sad, happy, and extremely angry within 10 minutes, as well as extreme nausea and appetite loss. I decided to wait it out, hopeful that my body would eventually get used to this, but I can’t do it anymore and decided to switch pills finally, which I am happy about as I was not covered for these and was paying over $100 for 3 months of pills on top of all of that."

For Birth Control "I have been on Lo Loestrin for almost 2 months and was extremely nervous, since the last birth control I had been on did not work at all. Lo Loestrin has been absolutely great for me. I weigh 120 and am 19 years old. I have experienced no mood swings, heavy bleeding, headaches, nausea, or vomiting. I would definitely recommend anyone to give this birth control a shot!"

For Birth Control "I would rather deal with my heavy periods, pads the size of mattresses, and PMS than subject myself to another day of this garbage pill. I've been on for a month, in that month, I have been sick every couple of days with dizziness, nausea, and diarrhea. At first, I thought maybe I was lactose intolerant from the creamer in my morning coffee, but nope, it's this garbage. My gyno said maybe I caught something. For a month?!?!?!? Finding another pill and gyno. Beware, ladies."

For Birth Control "I'm almost done with my first pack of Lo Loestrin Fe, and I am pretty happy with it. I had minor spotting the second week and light spotting during the two white pills so far. The only side effects I've noticed so far are changes in appetite - first two weeks I was super hungry, and then the third week I hardly ate at all. I had some nausea, along with the changes in appetite, but nothing too major. I have a history with anxiety, and the pill has slightly elevated it, but it is manageable. I'd say anyone who is sensitive to high doses of estrogen should definitely try Lo Loestrin Fe."

For Birth Control "I’ve been on Lo Lo for at least 3 years. I love this birth control! After having bad experiences with a couple higher dosage pills (severe depression, which I had never had in my life), my doctor recommended this one because of its low hormones. My mood improved drastically, and I experienced no breakouts, nausea, or weight gain. I never get my period, which is a win for me."

For Birth Control "This is by far the best pill I have ever tried, and let me tell you, I've tried almost everything out there in the past six years. Alesse was the only one that almost worked for me, and I was on it for two years, but I never really got over the nausea and the mood swings. With Lo Lo, I have not experienced any mood swings, no weight gain, no nausea, no tenderness or pain... Nothing. I even managed to take it continuously not to get my period, which I haven't been able to do with any other pill. I would always end up getting my period, sometimes in the middle of my cycle. I'd always get breakthrough bleeding. This one just works perfectly for me. I'm at four months of use, and I don't plan on changing it anytime soon."

For Birth Control "I'm only giving Lo Loestrin a 4/10 because it's 'low hormone' and I feel okay about taking it, but oh my god, my experience has been terrible. My doctor ended up giving me a year's supply due to certain circumstances, so I figured I had to just keep taking it and hope it gets better, but ever since I started, it's just been the worst. I've been on it for about 7 to 8 months now, and I still get 4-5 days of breakthrough bleeding in between actual period days. Pretty sure it's made me gain a fair bit of weight, I'm the heaviest I've ever been. I'm constantly nauseous, there are times more often now where I have no appetite. Everything I eat hurts my stomach and will cause diarrhea. I'm going off of it because I can't remember the last time I actually felt okay."

For Birth Control "Very happy with this birth control. Positive effects: - Improved mood stability - Reduced bloating - Clearer skin after month 2 (had an initial breakout) - Reduced appetite - Fewer ingrown hairs and slightly reduced body hair growth - Reduced pregnancy anxiety - Improved libido and sexual satisfaction. Negative effects: - Dry skin in winter with eczema - Severe nausea during the first month of taking - Reduced enjoyment of aggressive metal music - Reduced appetite (sometimes forget meals) - Mild acne and mood swings while taking the white and brown pills - Slightly reduced vaginal lubrication - Occasional spotting. This medication has greatly improved my overall well-being. The negative side effects are minor and manageable, and the positive ones outweigh them. I had severe PMS and extremely heavy periods. I wish I had tried this before Accutane, as I think the combo of this and my two courses has led to severely dry skin in the winter."

For Birth Control "I'm just about to start my 3rd month on Lo Loestrin and so far it's been great! The first 2 weeks were pretty rough as I experienced severe nausea every time I took the pill. To be fair, this was also the first time I've taken a hormonal contraceptive in about 5 years. I experienced about 3-4 days of very light spotting the week before my period is due, and my periods are pretty much non-existent, spotting for about 2 days. I started taking this birth control to relieve debilitating menstrual cramps, and since starting on this pill, I haven't had ANY pain AT ALL. It has been life-changing. My sex drive and skin have both improved, my breasts have grown about a cup size, and my weight hasn't changed."

For Birth Control "I took Lo Loestrin for 3 months, with horrible side effects the entire time! My doctor wanted me to stick it out for 3 months before switching to give my body time to get used to it. It was the worst 3 months of my life. I was nauseous constantly, especially with physical exercise. I would have to sit down from walking because I would get too dizzy/nauseous from it. I started the pills on Day 1 of my period and then bled the entire 3 months! Not just spotting either. The only time it was spotting was for the 7 days when I was supposed to get my period each month, the rest of the time was horrible heavy bleeding. The worst part, though, was the anxiety and depression. I cried every single day. Couldn't get out of bed and had anxiety attacks. Ended up switching pills."

For Birth Control "I am 19 years old and on my third pack (possibly fourth, I can't remember for sure) of this birth control. The first two months were great! I didn't notice any side effects, and my period was normal. This past month, though, I've started to notice a lot of nausea and some headaches. Most recently, my depression and anxiety have increased tenfold and gone through the roof. I can't stop crying over everything, and I'm a mess all the time. It's time to stop this BC because it's just making my life a living hell."

For Birth Control "This is my first birth control, and the only reason I began taking it was to help my heavy and painful periods. It did make my period almost nonexistent and pain-free! However, I gained 10 pounds within 2 months and began to feel horrible nausea, dizzy, and completely out of it."

For Birth Control "I began taking Lo Loestrin Fe in December 2011. I am 5'3" and 110 lbs, so my OB/GYN prescribed it because of its low amount of hormones. It took about three months for it to regulate my periods and for the headaches and nausea to go away, and then my periods came two days a month and were extremely light with no cramps. All of a sudden, my periods started arriving earlier and earlier to the point where I started two weeks early and had a week-long period. I haven't had any pregnancy scares, weight gain, or crazy side effects from Lo Loestrin Fe, but the fact that the low hormone dosage can't control my menstrual cycle is making me switch birth control."

For Birth Control "I took this birth control for two months. It worked okay with effectiveness, however, I had breakthrough bleeding the entire time on Lo Loestrin Fe and never bled on the placebo pills. It also caused me to have tons of breakouts and nausea. After two months, I was over it and switched to Portia. My body adjusted quickly with hardly any side effects, just a few breakouts before my placebo pills."

For Birth Control "This is the first time I've been on BC, and so far, things are going pretty well. It's been 2 months and I have had 3 periods (although I was told to start my first pack the day I started my period, so perhaps that one doesn't completely count). Each period has been lighter and shorter than they were before, with some cramping but nothing terrible. I had mentally prepared myself for moodiness, but I haven't noticed any difference there. No acne, no headaches. The 1st month was completely symptom-free, but the 2nd month has brought some bloating, indigestion, and nausea. I have found, however, that keeping my blood sugar at a normal level keeps the nausea at bay. I plan to stay on it for now and see how the 3rd month goes."

For Birth Control "I've always been one for Depo, but my doctor advised me to try Lo Loestrin, and I agreed. The first month's worth I didn't like and questioned a lot of things. Seemed like I had a never-ending period, all over the place and lasted for days. My breasts were really tender, felt very nauseated to the point of almost vomiting, pelvic cramps, mild mood swings, UTI, discharge. When I went on antibiotics for the UTI, I was told the pill would be less effective. My doctor never considered my age (32) as a factor, which puts me at more of a risk. I am losing weight I cannot maintain. I am not happy with this product, not enough testing, and I'm going back to Depo."

For Birth Control "I love this birth control. It's the second birth control I've ever tried (the first I was on made me nauseous and moody). I started this pill because I needed to be on birth control for acne medication (Accutane) I was going to take. The Lo Loestrin Fe cleared my skin so much that I didn't have to go on the acne medication! It also made me less tired and made my boobs bigger. I did notice a slight increase in weight but nothing major!"

For Birth Control "Lo Loestrin FE is a very solid birth control. The side effects took a while to go away, but when they did, I had no problems. After the first 3 months, and for 3 months, I was nauseous all day, every day, and spot bleeding constantly, but since month 6, I have had no problems, except for missing my period for 103 days. That was weird, but who knows why (I got my period now, so it wasn't pregnancy). If you can stick out the side effects, I would recommend it, but also keep in mind that you'll get side effects with any birth control you're on. Just stick with it. Also, the last 4 reminder pills in a pack taste like root beer. Pretty neat."

For Birth Control "I'm taking this medication to regulate my period. I was scared after reading the side effects, especially about the hair loss and the weight gain, but I know everyone is different. This is my 2nd month, and I've experienced loss of appetite, stomach ache, nausea/vomiting the most. I've actually lost 10 pounds, which is awesome. The nausea/vomiting is only about once a week, so it's not that bad. I just am not hungry anymore, which helps me make better choices in eating. My first month, I was hormonal, however, now I think my body's gotten used to it, so I'm not as hormonal. As far as my period, it hasn't been long enough to tell if it's regulated."

For Birth Control "I wouldn't recommend this BC. It made me feel like I was in my first trimester of pregnancy again... nauseated, exhausted, aversion to food, etc. On top of that, towards the end of the first month, I ended up with major depression from this pill. Not to mention the spotting. I really wanted to give my body the full 3 months to adjust to this pill, but I couldn't do it. I hope people have better luck than me, but if you have the same experience, I'd say get off Lolo ASAP."

For Birth Control "Tried birth control for the first time, and Lo Lo was not for me! Started off okay with minor cramps and nausea, nothing too crazy. I was on it about a month and a week. Decided to stop due to my anxiety being the worst it’s been! Some days it was bearable, other days I almost felt like I was about to have an anxiety attack! If you suffer from anxiety, you know how bad this feels. Definitely would not recommend this type of birth control to anybody who suffers from anxiety. The only thing I loved was my acne clearing up with this, but not worth the anxiety attacks!"

For Birth Control "Took almost 3 months of this pill. First month went fine. Almost no side effects. Felt less hungry during the first month. 2nd month - felt nauseous at times, slight headaches. Bleeding was very light, lasted maybe 1 day or 2. 3rd month - started having stomach pains and lower back spasms. Couldn't find another cause of spasms - I had no injury, etc. Until I found a rare side effect of this medication could be spasms. Stopped taking the pill midway through the 3rd month a couple days ago...haven't felt a spasm since. Back to square one."

For Birth Control "This birth control is good for me, but I did have major side effects. I had almost constant bleeding for about 4 months, and nausea for the first month. After that though, everything is smooth sailing! The only other complaint I would have is breast tenderness."

For Birth Control "I was switched from Trinessa to this pill due to an increase in migraines, which I've struggled with in the past. I was worried about the decrease in estrogen and how it would affect me. Roughly a week and a half on this pill, I lost my appetite, felt very nauseous, and became extremely bloated with terrible constipation. I felt this way almost all the way up to my period. I also experienced strange sensations in my arms and legs, like weakness and shoots of pain, and also experienced headaches. My mind felt very fuzzy, which is not normal for me at all. I still experienced PMS cramps and back pain right before my period. I would not recommend this pill at all! The only plus side was a shorter period."
