"I have been on different birth control before, but this one was the worst of them all. Before this pill, I never had acne, and now my acne is the worst. I also get sad and emotional all the time, it’s really bad. Finally, I talked to my doctor and made the switch from this pill."

"I was on Junel Fe, and my insurance changed, and I’m on Blisovi Fe, and it’s the same pill but generic. I love it! I used to have really bad cramps where I would have to go home from school or work and take a hot bath for hours. If I didn’t take an Advil as soon as I got my period, I was in for a horrible day. When I started this birth control, I get light cramps that are tolerable, and I don’t need to take Advil or have a heating pad. I only have my period for 2 or 3 days, and then it’s done."

"I was put on this medicine for extreme cramping and heavy periods. I can say that this particular BC has been helpful in making my pain less severe and lightening my periods! On the other hand, I absolutely hate the side effects. It makes me so moody and depressed and just not myself. I end up getting headaches once a week, and all I want to do is sleep. It seems like my appetite fluctuates a lot more now than it used to. It seems like my PMS has gotten way worse on this medication. I’ve been on it for about 10 months, so it’s not just settling into the hormones."

"They switched the Blisovi Fe birth control I was taking to this, so I started taking this birth control about a month ago or so, and it’s terrible. It doesn’t help my cramps whatsoever, and I’ve been on my period for 12 days so far and it doesn’t seem like it’ll be stopping anytime soon. It started off very light, then all of a sudden BAM! I had to change my tampon every 40 minutes basically. This has been a very bad experience for me. It seems like I’m taking these pills every day for no reason. Just to bleed more. It’ll be different for everyone, but this was my terrible experience."

"I'm taking Blisovi for a while now, but I've noticed it causes my panicking to spike up to the point where I've been waking up every day at 4 am and puking and having diarrhea for hours. It is debilitating and causing me to miss out on my life. It gave me acne. I have to hold back tears and rage fits constantly, and I'm becoming so mad. I was on Prozac with it for a while, but I thought that's what was making me puke, so I stopped taking it, and it's still happening. Also, I have a constant weird taste in my mouth, almost like I'm hungry all the time, and it bothers me because I'm unable to eat anything due to the constant panicking I'm getting. The only thing Blisovi does is keep you from getting pregnant if you even dare to try not feeling rubbish enough to have sex."

"I used to take Lo Loestrin Fe 1/20 for like 6 years, then saw a new gynecologist who likely wrote down my prescription wrong and I ended up getting Blisovi 1/20. I’ve been taking it for the last 10 months and have had a generally negative experience. Pros: seems to have cleared up moderate acne, especially on my chest. Cons: cramps and heavy period for the first few months. Extremely low to nonexistent sex drive. Gained about 12 lbs in the first two months with no lifestyle/diet change and now I can’t lose any weight, even after healthy eating at a caloric deficit and working out 5+ days a week for several months. Also have mood swings. Overall, this is just an okay birth control. I’m trying to change back to Lo Loestrin, but I’m worried about my acne coming back! The weight gain and low sex drive on Blisovi is a huge negative though."

"Birth control obviously affects every woman differently. But in my experience, it was not good. My sex drive decreased the moment I started taking this birth control. I started to gain weight, and I hated it. My diet didn’t change, neither did my exercise. So I was unsure as to why I had gained 20 pounds. But it all leads back to this birth control. As said, it will obviously affect everyone differently, but for this birth control, these effects seem to be the trend. Just be aware before you start taking it."

"I had been on Microgestin previously with absolutely no problems. I loved it, but all of a sudden, it wasn't free anymore, and that's when my insurance told me I would have to keep paying for it or switch to a new generic -- Blisovi. I switched thinking they were one and the same. WRONG. First off, I got very itchy. It made my skin very sensitive, and I started breaking out in a rash towards the end of the first week. I also noticed it was heightening my anxiety, it made me very erratic and aggressive. It also made my vision blurry. After ruling out other things, I stopped taking it on a hunch, and immediately everything went back to normal. I don't care if I have to pay, I'm going back to Microgestin. Blisovi is HORRIBLE."

"Headaches. Back pain. Nausea. Cramps. Periods heavier and longer than without it. Heavy spotting a week or two after my period. Absolutely horrible. Ratings are 3/10 everywhere. Unsure why it's still being prescribed if so many women suffer symptoms."

"This Blisovi Fe 1/20 pill was awful for me. I always took Microgestin, but CVS switched me to this because it’s what they keep in stock. I assumed that since it’s a generic for the same birth control as Microgestin that everything would be fine. It took me a few months to realize it, but the switch to Blisovi was the cause of my awful hormonal acne breakouts and yeast infections! I had NEVER experienced a yeast infection before, but I had three within the 6 months I was on this pill. When I spoke to my doctor, she told me that generics for name brand pills all have the same “active” ingredients, but they have different “inactive” ingredients, which explains why it affected me. Needless to say, I switched back to Microgestin and it’s worth the headache of arguing with CVS to get it."

"The pharmacy switched me to this pill because they didn’t have the other one at the time. The first month was fine, but then I started to have all sorts of side effects, which at first I didn’t associate with the pill: loss of sex drive, vaginal dryness, loss of hair, no periods at all, hot flashes, sleep issues. At first, I thought I was going to menopause at 37 years old! But I decided to stop. It has been a month, and the symptoms have all gone away. I was also having joint pain, which I didn’t think were related to this, and it has gone away too. If a pill can have all these side effects, it is definitely not worth the benefits. I would highly recommend using something else."

"I have been healthy all my life until I started this pill. I'm 20 and in perfect health. One day, my arm randomly turned purple and became weak and numb, this continued for a couple of days. After the second day, I went to the hospital where they told me it was all in my head, even though my left arm was twice the size of my right. My primary care doctor referred me to a very good cardiovascular surgeon who found a blood clot. A week or so later, my lips had begun to swell along with my tongue and throat. After one more test and a visit to a neuro doctor, I found out I now had two blood clots, one in my neck. This doctor connected it all to this pill. It happens that I'm that 1 in a thousand, 20 years old and in perfect health, this pill would have slowly killed me if I would have listened to that first hospital or never would have done anything at all. I warn everyone, be careful because I would hate for this pill to ruin anyone else's health in the ways it has mine."

"Please, please, please, avoid this pill. I was given this pill around the age of 34 because my periods became very irregular and heavy. I took this pill for 3 months, and I gained 30 lbs. I just started feeling heavier and heavier. I stopped after 3 months of taking it, and I started having chest pains and losing my breath frequently. I now have hypertension that I can't get rid of even after losing the weight I gained. I'm not a fit fanatic, but I do eat well and exercise some. I'm now on 60 mg daily of blood pressure medicine, and I blame this pill! This pill forever altered my life, and I can't wait for a class action lawsuit to follow for poisoning us!"

"The first four months on this pill had me spotting for the majority of the time. I was really moody all the time and would cry over any little thing. As months went by, my periods got shorter and lighter, but I developed extreme anxiety. The anxiety turned into depression and I didn’t feel like doing anything all the time. After 8 months, I stopped this pill and I’m going to be taking Gianvi. Hopefully, I will start to feel like my normal self again, but I do not recommend taking this pill. If you start getting depressed and anxious out of nowhere, blame this pill!"

"Honestly, my experience has been great. I've had close to no side effects. I take the pill at 5 pm and eat dinner shortly after to prevent nausea. Occasionally, I'll feel a wave, but I'll just eat something, drink tea, or go to bed, and all is well. I am purposely skipping my period by consistently taking this and have had no spotting, although I felt cramps on a couple of days during when it was supposed to be. Other than that, it's been great! Will update if need be in a couple of months."

"I've been taking Blisovi Fe 1/20 for 5 days. I used to take Lo Loestrin years ago, now that I started birth control again, my doctor prescribed me Blisovi. The first day was good, no side effects. The second day, I felt a little tired and did not have an appetite. The third day, Sunday, I felt horrible. I had a very bad migraine, was nauseous, threw up, I felt horrible. On Monday, I felt a bit better, I was still nauseous, did not have an appetite, but the headache was gone. Today, day five, I feel better, I still feel very tired but no nausea, and my appetite is back."

"Ok, so I started this pill in September of this year. It's December 24 - almost Christmas, and I am totally not feeling the Christmas spirit. This pill has made me gain an incredible amount of weight, my breasts hurt like anything to touch, my period has been 2 weeks on (I was taking this to regulate my period), I feel tired, I do not want to hang out or be seen by anyone. I am in my room 24/7. I really want to stop this pill."

"I was put on Gildess 4 months ago for birth control, and I loved it. My period always came on time. It was always light and short. Then CVS switched me to Blisovi about a month and a half ago. I missed a period. I've been extremely emotional. And the worst part is, my body feels like it's falling apart. One day my hands hurt, and I can't move them. The next couple of days, my knee feels broken. Then when that pain goes away, my shoulder feels out of place. It's just never-ending pain! I mean it works as a contraceptive, obviously. But this pain has been unbearable. I wouldn't recommend this pill..."

"I’ve been taking this birth control for about 6 months now, and this is the first birth control I’ve ever been prescribed. It has been a nightmare. I found myself to be extremely emotional and depressed, with very random mood swings. I also have spotting almost every month about 2 weeks into each pack."

"This is the worst BC to exist. I was on Ortho for about 7 months, and it was perfect, my terrible acne cleared up, and I didn’t notice any other changes until I had a 23-day long period and started breaking out badly again. I stopped taking it and wasn’t on any sort of BC for about 3 months. My gyno put me on Blisovi in the beginning of March, but I was afraid to take it due to the terrible reviews. I started taking it in early April, and by the 3rd week, my acne had tripled, even going to my back, neck, etc. I had feelings of depression that I have never even felt before and cried more in those 3 weeks than I ever had before. I gave it another week to finish my cycle and had the worst cramps and heaviest period I’ve had. I haven’t been on BC in 4 months because it was so terrible. Good luck, ladies."

"I was just given this to treat PMDD. I was a bit hesitant after reading side effects in the enclosed papers. I will definitely consider all of my options before I start this after reading nothing but horrible experiences. Thank you all for your advice and warnings on this pill!"

"I find this birth control good. You’re going to have side effects with every medication, you’re just going to have to get over it. I have been on this birth control for 4 or 5 years now, and I love it. After about a year or two, my periods have stopped completely. I do have low sex drive, but oh well, just another way the birth control works is how I think of it. It will take time for your body to adjust. I recommend if there are a few side effects in the beginning to just see if they stick around. It will take any birth control 6 months to a year to get used to your body. It’s free with my insurance."

"I absolutely love this product and recommend it to everyone. I know everyone's body is different, so it is not for everyone, but it is not the medicine's fault. I have no negative symptoms since I started this. I used to have heavy periods, terrible cramps, and headaches, and my periods were super long. I now have super consistent 3-4 light periods, no cramps or headaches. I have been on this pill for over a year now and have no desire to switch."

"So if I could give zero stars, I would. I was so excited for starting first-time birth control, and the doctor prescribed me the lowest dose of hormonal birth control pill. I do not recommend anybody try this pill. I was just four days on it, and I had to stop. I got diarrhea since the second day until today, and I’m not even taking it the last 5 days. My hair started falling off a lot, and I have such strong headaches that I never had before. Do not take this pill!!!"

"I've been taking this for almost 3 months (on my last week from the 3rd month), and I have NOT had my period yet. 1st month, I mean, I didn’t really get the side effects, my cramps and headaches were a bit worse than before, but nothing too bad. Sex drive is still the same, I love having sex. But no period, slight spotting for 2-3 days, that’s it. Second month, no period at all, same cramps and headache, and a bit of diarrhea (very uncomfortable). On my 3rd month, sticking with it because of the doctor's recommendation. If I don’t get my period this month, I may switch because not getting my period freaks me out, lol. I have taken other birth control pills (when I was 18, so I forgot the name), but I did not have these effects, I got my period the second month, it was very light, but it was there, lol. I may stick around for the 4th month to see if I’ll feel better, but so far I’m not really happy about this pill."
