"Do not take this birth control! It is a nightmare! The first couple of months on Blisovi 24 Fe were fine, but starting around month 6, I was so depressed, wanted to sleep all day, not motivated. Horrible mood swings, no sex drive at all! The worst acne I have ever experienced! I have never had acne until I started this pill. I have been off this birth control for two days and already feel 100 times better! Find another pill to take because this is not worth it!"

"My ob/gyn prescribed Blisovi as an alternative to Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo, which I LOVED. She said all of her patients love it, and I would too. In one week, I woke up from a panic attack that was so severe I thought I was having a heart attack. My anxiety was so easily triggered while on this, I had heart palpitations and weird breathing even if I thought of something mildly uncomfortable. My gyno said birth control pills don’t cause anxiety and that I and all of the people who said they had issues on the internet are wrong, since “no one I've ever given it to has had any issues.” She said all progesterones are the same and that nothing would be different unless I control my anxiety because *that* was the problem. I got a second opinion today and was told that the progesterone in Blisovi is different from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo and that people react differently to each type of hormone. Don’t let your gyno bully you into thinking you have to take what they gave you or nothing at all."

"I started taking this when I was a senior in high school (17 1/2 years old). I had no problems until about a year later. I have been constantly tired, my muscles have been twitching, I cry over everything, and I have no sex drive. At 19 years old, I’m coming up with excuses to not have sex with my boyfriend. It’s horrible. I thought I was going crazy until I read these comments, and I’m glad to know it’s just this birth control. I’m definitely talking to my gyno about switching next month when I go."

"This was my first birth control, and I had a horrible experience. The first few days were fine, and then all of a sudden, my whole face and chest broke out. I’ve always had acne, but this was next-level acne that didn’t go away. I also experienced horrible anxiety and nausea. I was constantly nervous, and sometimes the anxiety and nausea would wake me up at night for hours at a time. I have a history of anxiety, so maybe I’m more prone to having panic attacks, but before going on this medication, my anxiety was under control, and I had no panic attacks a few months prior. A few days after stopping the medication, my acne cleared, I gained back my appetite, and I was no longer having panic attacks. Everyone’s experience was different, but mine was very bad with this medication."

"I started taking this pill, and after a little over a month, I noticed I was getting highly depressed and high anxiety. I haven't changed anything in my life. I just stopped recently in hopes that this stops it."

"I’m surprised to see all the negative reviews! Before Blisovi, I was on a name-brand BC and didn’t like it at all. My heavy periods persisted. Since switching to Blisovi (thanks, insurance company), my periods have completely stopped, and I’ve had zero negative side effects. Also, it’s VERY effective."

"If I could give this pill 0, I would. It is horrible. I started my second pack on Sunday, but I stopped yesterday. I do not care that that probably is not the way to stop BC, but I couldn't take it anymore. I've gained around 15 lbs (I was on Junel before, which made me a little bloated), but this, this stupid pill is making me so, so, so bloated it's not even worth it. Same symptoms as everyone in these reviews I was reading. It's crazy, but I had all of the things you are all describing and never thought it could be the pill. I work out 5 to 6 times a week religiously, I eat super healthy, and I'm still gaining weight. Not to mention I was tired all the time, and I'm normally very active and awake. Also, no period. At all. Not good."

"Was on the Gildess brand for almost a year and LOVED it! Went to the pharmacy to pick it up, and they gave me Blisovi instead, saying that it is the same exact thing. It's one month later, and I HATE it! My breasts have shrunk, and I have gained weight in my stomach, which is the last thing a girl wants! I have been having stomach problems and getting bad acne breakouts all over! It is far from the same thing I took before, glad to see I am not the only one having problems. Calling my doctor to have it switched!"

"These reviews are saving my life. My moods have been the absolute worst since starting Blisovi back in December. I have said things I never ever would have said, I snap at people, I cry at every little thing. My poor friends have been on the receiving end of all of this. I'll be surprised if they're still my friends. I feel like absolute garbage. I also take medication for migraines, which also happens to be an anti-depressant, so I wonder if these two medications are not working well together? I'm calling my OBGYN tomorrow to get off of this medication. I can't deal with this. I want to be myself again."

"This is the worst pill that has ever happened to me. Do NOT take this pill. I am 31 years old and never in my life have written a review, but this pill gave me the WORST panic attacks where I thought I was going crazy, basically made me almost suicidal, thinking I needed to be medicated for anxiety. I got off it last week, and 2 days later!!! felt like a new person. Beware!! This birth control is so dangerous and should be taken off the market, in my opinion! Was the worst month of my life."

"I started taking birth control at 17 due to a genetic condition I have (Familial Mediterranean Fever). Since I was 15-16, every month my period (the estrogen rise and drop) would trigger an episode. I did my research and got on birth control to stop my periods, and since then (I am almost 19), I RARELY experience episodes. Overall, birth control has completely changed my life for the better. Yet, aside from the fact that birth control has prevented my episodes for the most part, I experienced extreme depression, anxiety, and disassociation (brain fog, forgetfulness) the first three months I was on it. Over the course of those three months, it gradually got better. I am no longer depressed, forgetful, or disassociated, but I do experience mood swings, outbursts, occasional anxiety, and I cry very, very easily. I have noticed that recently my emotions have gotten worse, and I've been on this for a year and a half. I may speak with my doctor, but the pros weigh out the cons."

"I have taken Lomedia for years and have absolutely loved it. When I went to my pharmacy a week ago to pick up my prescription, they told me that Lomedia had been suddenly discontinued, and so they had given me Blisovi. She explained that it's supposed to be made by the same company as Lomedia and is supposed to be the exact same ingredients. That cannot be true. I have had no issues with my periods for years, and now I am bleeding heavily, am very bloated, and my face is suddenly breaking out. I do not believe it's the same pill, something is different. I do not recommend this pill."

"I have been on this birth control for about 4 months now. It is the worst pill I have ever taken. The only positive thing about it is my periods last maybe 4 days and are very light. The negatives... I can't control my acne breakouts. I have NO sex drive. I have constant mood swings. I feel like I'm a teenager again. I also have headaches, and I have trouble staying asleep at night. It just makes me feel NOT MYSELF. I made an appointment with my gyno for a visit. I am never using this birth control again. I thought I was crazy, but I read other reviews, and I guess I have a lot in common with many others that have taken this pill before. It's horrible! I am grateful for those people that it helps, but this is definitely not the pill for me."

"So glad I read these. I've gained 15 lbs in the past 6 months without a lifestyle change. The only difference was this BC. I thought I was crazy. I was getting super depressed about the weight. I work out daily and eat really well. Can't wait to switch and feel normal again."

"I love this stuff. I had switched from Lo Loestrin because of price, but I'm really glad I did. My skin has been perfect ever since I started taking it. When I was taking Lo Loestrin, it made me have red bumpiness around my chin, but once I started taking this, it went away immediately, and my skin has looked so good ever since. I haven’t had any bad experiences, besides my breasts hurting (and they got bigger, which I'm happy about). Some reviews said they got headaches, nausea, weight gain, bad moods, but I haven’t experienced any of that. My periods haven’t been bad either, no heavier than what they were when not on birth control. Works super well for me!"

"I was in Lomedia 24 FE, loved it! Well, for some unknown reason you can't find it anymore, and no one knows why! The doctor knows nothing about it being discontinued, the pharmacy just says, 'our manufacturer can't get it, but we don't know why.' Google has no answers, and I thought Google knew about EVERYTHING! They switched my prescription to this Blisovi 24 FE, it sucks! Gained weight that won't come off, but worse than that - I spot ALL the time, I may have two periods a month. I never know what to expect each day! I've been on it for a year now and have had two normal periods. The rest are heavy, last longer than they should, stop one day, and then begin again a week later - I HATE IT!!! Bring Lomedia 24 FE back - PLEASE!!!!"

"One day picking up my prescription, I noticed the bag said 'different name, same drug.' That couldn't have been more wrong. After starting this pill, I gained 10 lbs, on my smaller frame, it's insanely noticeable to the point I'm afraid someone will ask if I'm pregnant. Went up 2 pant sizes, which is completely out of character for me. Not only was I an emotional mess during my period, but all the other days as well. Tired and fatigued constantly. Not good at all, terrible experience. Absolutely had to switch."

"I've been on every generic for Loestrin under the sun and NEVER experienced bad side effects. Since I never had issues with other generics, it took me a while to figure out that this birth control was causing my issues. I got a bad yeast infection after taking this and became sensitive to getting yeast infections (despite that I never had one in my life before this). I also struggled with acne in the 'hormonal' region on my chin line and cheek area. Nothing would help the acne. I haven't encountered acne since my teens and had forgotten how awful and embarrassing it is. I switched back to Microgestin after talking to my GYN and realizing Blisovi was the culprit, and my skin is already clearing up. Avoid taking this if you can."

"This is awful! Never felt this bad! Bloating, mood swings, boobs hurt, feel fat all the time, and I don't know how long I'm gonna have my period! I don't think it's gonna ever end, and sex is completely out of the question! I feel like a crazy person! Mad at the world and can't stand myself! I'm only on my first week, second month in!"

"This birth control is the absolute worst! I got this prescription for my irregular periods and it’s made it worse. I have a history with depression, and it completely triggered it again. I would wake up crying and picking fights with my boyfriend all the time. Not only that, but my sex drive is gone. My boyfriend and I haven’t had sex in almost two months because 1) my libido is at an all-time low 2) my self-esteem is at 0 3) I feel tired all the time. Do not take this pill."

"I’ve been on this BC for a year now. Everything started out what seemed to be okay. Then things slowly started to get worse. My mood swings had changed tremendously, I had no motivation to do anything. I had never had depression until I took this BC along with panic attacks. I also seemed to lose all sex drive, and I’m only 22. I don’t recommend taking this BC. It didn’t do me any favors whatsoever."

"I was started on Gildess 1/20 but then was switched to Blisovi after the recall. I absolutely HATE this birth control. Ever since starting it, I have been having moderate to heavy periods twice a month. My cramps have been pretty bad too, the last heavy period I had, my cramps lasted the entire week, as opposed to going away the second day like they normally do. My mood swings are the worst they've ever been, and I find myself crying at the drop of a hat and mad at everything. And just as some of the other women have stated, I have been extremely thirsty while on this pill, and I can't wait to change it. The only good thing about this pill is that I'm not pregnant. That's the ONLY good thing about it."

"I was previously on Loestrin FE for about 2 years. I had no side effects with this medication at all! So, one day I went to pick up my auto-fill prescription about 2 months ago, and the pharmacist informed me that the prescription had been switched to Blisovi, but it's the same exact medication. Oh no, it isn't! I've had a headache (varying from severe to mild) every single day. I'm tired, hungry, my back aches more than usual, gained about 10 pounds, broke out on my face, and this headache is a nightmare. I was beginning to think I'm going crazy until I read similar reviews. I was getting so mad over stupid stuff and crying out of nowhere. My boyfriend has handled it like a champ, but hopefully won't have to for long because I'm switching!"

"Before taking Blisovi 24 Fe, I had taken Lo Loestrin Fe for 3 years and loved it! My insurance company stopped covering Lo Loestrin Fe, so I switched to Blisovi 24 Fe. So far, this pill has done everything I went on the pill to avoid! I have awful cramps, heavy bleeding, sore breasts, acne, mood swings, etc. I have given my body the suggested amount of time to adjust, and my symptoms still have not improved. My experience with this birth control was awful, and I am just waiting for my appeal to go through so I can get back on Lo Loestrin Fe again."

"So I had been taking Junel 24 Fe for a few years now, and at the beginning of the year, I was switched to Blisovi, for I was told Junel was no longer on the market. I loved Junel. I had no weight issues, the medicine worked as intended. Now that I'm on Blisovi, I have gained close to 30 pounds in a matter of 3 months. I was gaining roughly 2 pounds a week at the beginning and now gaining 4 or 5 pounds a week. I never had many issues with my weight: 115ish at 5'1. I'm now at 152 lb at my latest weigh-in. This is the most I have ever weighed in my life, and I'm considered obese. Besides that, my mood swings have been terrible. I used to never fight with my boyfriend, and now constantly do, and I hate it. We used to get along so well. I have also been extremely paranoid about so many things that it makes me physically sick. I would not recommend this medication to anyone unless it's your only option for BC."
