"I have never written an online review, but I felt the need! I was previously on Lo Loestrin for years and just got Blisovi in the mail, claiming it is the 'same pill but looks different.' No way! Automatically, I experienced headaches every day, tiredness to where I can't even move, mood swings, and I feel hungover every day! I usually eat healthy and work out, but the first week I started taking the pill, I could barely move out of my bed. I eat less but crave greasy, unhealthy foods, which is not my usual diet whatsoever. I feel as if I'm retaining water. I also have cried every day the past week over nothing!!!!! So angry about this pill and that they can just switch pills without consulting! I also experience constant thirst. Stay away!!!!!"

"I had a terrible experience on this birth control pill. I thought I was losing my mind, it completely exacerbated my anxiety and depression to the point where I had paranoia. I was seeking a psychiatrist to be medicated because of how terrible I felt. I didn't realize this pill was causing all of the above issues until my pharmacist switched me over to Mylan, a generic form of Ortho Tri-Cyclen. After being on Mylan for a month, I feel like myself and realized it was Blisovi 24 Fe that made me feel psychotic."

"I was prescribed Blisovi for my excruciating period pain. I would vomit, faint, sweat, cry, and stay in bed in a fetal position for 5 days whenever I had my period prior to being prescribed a BC. Blisovi was my first ever BC. At first, I thought this was a magic pill because it took all my period cramps away and had a mild period that lasted 3 days. It is almost 1 year on Blisovi, I gained 15+ lbs (I exercise 4-5x/week and I have a very healthy diet), I become emotional over any stupid stuff, my face has breakouts to the point I am self-conscious (I haven’t had acne since I was 13), I have had high anxiety and stress, I wear glasses and my vision has gotten 5x worse, and the sweaty underarm is the icing on top of the cake. I did not think about all of this until I realized I didn’t have any of these symptoms a year ago when I was not taking Blisovi. As of today, I am stopping this pill, it is not worth it."

"I was put on this pill for my low estrogen, and it did the job but not without some unfortunate side effects. The first week I started taking it, my blood sugar would drop suddenly almost every day, and I would almost pass out if I didn't sit down and eat something immediately. I have never had issues with blood sugar before in my life, and I have noticed it only happens when I am taking this pill. I also have horrible anxiety attacks and frequent heart palpitations, which has also never happened to me before. Regarding weight, I have found that I lost several pounds instead of gaining (maybe the anxiety?). There are times I feel hungry no matter how much I eat, and other times I feel like I'm going to explode despite having eaten nothing at all. All in all, the pill did what it said it would and more...maybe another prescription is in order."

"I went on this birth control to help regulate my periods, instead, I do not have a period at all. I’ve been on it for about a year and haven’t gotten it once, no complaints but makes me question if that’s safe. My skin was clear before I went on it, and now my chin is ruined from acne and scarring. I have to use so many products to help reduce the appearance of the scars. I didn’t gain any weight, but my boobs did grow."

"My doctor switched me from Loestrin to this because I was having some pains consistent with ovarian cysts bursting. I was only on Blisovi for about 6 months until I had to switch back to Loestrin! I had constant cramping pain, no sex drive, acne all over my chin, jawline, and mouth, quick weight gain, especially in lower stomach, fatigue, and loss of motivation. Now after 2 weeks back on Loestrin, my acne is gone, cramping is gone, feeling more sexual and awake, haven’t dropped any of the weight I gained but still working on it. Mind you, I was smaller my entire life and gained 20 pounds once on Blisovi, and it really made me feel like I wasn’t myself. If you feel these symptoms, stop taking immediately."

"This is my 3rd month on BC, but recently was switched to Blisovi and am in the 3rd week of my first pack. I've started experiencing spotting today, which led me to this website. I am terrified of everyone's own experiences, and even only being 3 weeks in, I can relate a lot! Before I started, I was a very active person who loved going to the gym and working out, but lately I have not had the energy or enthusiasm to get up and go. I've found myself sleeping a lot during the day and feeling exhausted even after 10+ hours of sleep. I really didn't think anything of it, but now it makes total sense! I just picked up my next month's pack, but I'm immediately calling my doctor to change to a new one!"

"I switched from Lo Loestrin Fe to Blisovi 24 Fe about a year ago, and thank goodness I did. In the short time I was on Lo Loestrin Fe, I had mood swings, exhaustion, depression, and I just didn’t feel like myself. When I switched to Blisovi 24 Fe, all of those emotional problems went away, and I feel like myself again. Also, my periods are a ton lighter than before, I used to have about 6-day periods with heavy cramping, and now I have light periods with no cramping that only last about 2 days. I haven’t had any issues with acne. I have gained about 10 pounds in the year that I’ve been on the pill, so that would be my only complaint. Overall, I feel healthy on this BC."

"This pill is the WORST. I just started my third month and have so much stress and anxiety. The pill has helped with my periods, but the toll it has put on my body is not worth it. I had started a new job around the time I was put on the pill and associated the stress to my job and school, I was WRONG. My face is always breaking out, except when I'm on my period (I'm assuming it's because I'm on the placebo pill those 4 days). I'm waiting for my third month checkup to allow my body to adjust to the pill, but I will come off this as soon as I meet with my doctor. I was naive and didn't do any research on the pill. After reading these reviews, I regret not looking into it and saving myself this emotional distress."

"This has been the worst BC I've been on, mood swings, cramps, terrible headaches, it is a total downer. I've really noticed that I've been less engaged in communication and tired. I've been on it for about 6 months, and it's 6 months too long."

"I've been on Lomedia for over 2 years - no side effects, was very happy with Lomedia. Suddenly got switched to Blisovi 24 Fe because Lomedia was on backorder. Blisovi 24 Fe is the worst pill ever. I've been dizzy every day - my mood is terrible - can't stop complaining about stupid things. Got breakouts on my chin, around my nose, my skin got really oily. I've been taking this pill for 3 weeks now. This is my 1st and last month on ever taking this terrible pill. DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL!"

"I previously used NuvaRing, which I loved, but had to stop taking. After 5 months of no birth control, I started using Blisovi. I bled for 3 weeks solid, then had 2 periods/month for the 1st 3 months. Just started my 6th month, and only have one very light period/month (don't need to use tampons). But I am going off of this, as my hormones get worse the longer I'm on it. I have still been experiencing PMS symptoms 2x/month, even if no bleeding mid-cycle. During my last cycle, I was completely crazy, and also started having daily headaches. I'm now in week two of the pack, on the verge of tears 24/7, crying over nothing, picking fights with my lovely boyfriend. I'm NOT myself. Also made me gain noticeable weight - breasts got bigger, but so did other areas."

"I do not recommend this at all! I switched off of Kelnor to Blisovi because I was having long, heavy periods. I would gladly take the periods back over this. Now I have horrible acne on my shoulders, back, and chin (which I've never had), constant breast pain, occasional random cramping, I bled the entire first month, and I never have any energy! In the months prior to Blisovi, I had worked so hard to lose around 10-12 lbs... 6 weeks into Blisovi and I've gained 8 lbs of it back. I never wake up feeling like myself. I would definitely recommend Kelnor or Gildess over this one."

"I have been on a variety of pills for years and loved them all, wish they would stop discontinuing them (and my insurance would just cover all pills, not just some). But I was removed from Gildess because it was discontinued and put on Blisovi. I did two months of it and the only side effect, which was too awful, was being constipated. There must be more iron in it than the others. I stopped taking it because I always felt pain in my stomach and could never go to the bathroom properly...for two months! I am screwed now because my insurance won't cover anything else, and everything else is being recalled. I really am beyond frustrated and not sure what to do anymore."

"I have recently been on the pill for about a week now, and so far I am okay. I started taking the pill the first day of my period, which was 9/16/16, and it was supposed to end two days ago, 9/22/16, and I am still experiencing bleeding. It is light bleeding, more like spotting, so I am guessing this is breakthrough bleeding, but I was curious as to how long this will last."

"I was extremely nervous to start taking Blisovi after reading all of the reviews on here. I am 18, and it was my first time taking birth control pills, but I have been taking it for many months and have had ZERO negative side effects. My skin is more clear now than it has ever been, my weight has not changed, no headaches, etc. I also have some school-related anxiety and was worried because a lot of people said it worsened their anxiety, but I have not experienced this."

"I was on Mylan prior to this, and I had nothing but actual positive side effects (weird, huh?). Anyway, out of the blue, I go and pick up my prescription to find out it was switched to Blisovi™ 24 Fe, and at first, everything was fine... until, like, a month after, where I noticed I had really bad fatigue. Then came the hair loss, then towards the end, I started breaking out... to the point where I couldn’t take it anymore. I would wake up tired and stay tired all day long, and not to mention the horrible feeling of constantly shedding clumps of hair. Please do not take this, ladies!"

"Was on Junel Fe, and it worked according to my needs, which was to have a lighter, more manageable period or no period at all. After taking Junel for a year, all was well. Upon my renewal, I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription, to be told that Junel Fe had been recalled or discontinued, but Blisovi was the same medication. It is not! Where my cycle had been light to non-existent, never experienced cramping even before being on birth control, I have now been on Blisovi since the end of October 2016, and my cycle has gone haywire! Sudden unexpected menstruation, including severe cramping, is not the answer! Had me over here thinking about getting on Depo, but I feel that is not the answer either. I am contacting my doctor immediately!"

"I just recently started taking Blisovi 24 Fe and am in the first month. I have already gained five pounds. These reviews were very helpful. I just thought I was getting fat. I work out and eat a good diet as well. I will be switching birth control thanks to these reviews."

"I was switched to this pill when Gildess Fe got recalled. I have gained weight and have noticed irritability and tiredness. I have repeatedly asked my pharmacy if they have Gildess back to no avail. I think I need to try something else, regardless, this pill is not working for me."

"Horrible, horrible, horrible!!! I've been on this pill for 4 weeks now. The worst 4 weeks of my life. Days after I started to take it, there is a zit party on my forehead! I have had extreme anxiety at least 3 times a week. My mood swings are uncontrollable, and sex drive is at an all-time low. I would not recommend this pill to anyone. Going from Microgestin to Blisovi due to insurance not covering it is so not worth it. I'll pay for the pill rather than have these awful side effects."

"I have been on this birth control pill for the last 6 months, and I am completely miserable. It was originally prescribed as a generic for Loloestrin, but that simply cannot be the case. I have been chronically bloated, emotional, spotting, on top of which I am also experiencing a regular to heavy period. When I was on Lolo, I had no negative side effects, and it effectively minimized my monthly period. Ultimately, I feel really misinformed by the PA who prescribed this as a generic."

"I took this for a little over a year before stopping it. I was on Minastrin (insurance stopped covering). Got switched to Gildess and was fine until they discontinued it. Then came this horrible monster. The pharmacy ensured me it was the same thing, but I didn't feel this awful on the other two. For months, I wondered why my mood was so awful. I would snap at everything and I would cry for no reason. I started feeling horribly depressed. The one way this pill prevented me from getting pregnant was by completely killing my libido. I started taking it to get my hormonal acne under control, but I think I'd rather deal with the acne than these side effects."

"I have never had a problem with this BC! Just normal, regulated period, my cysts are gone, which was the reason for taking the medication. Just normal everyday life, it is like I don't even take it! But I do every day!"

"Ok. This pill has its ups and downs. The first week of taking this pill... I felt fine. When it came to the end of the month, though, I was in a downright spiral. I mean, wow. I had the worst mood swings on top of already ongoing depression and anxiety. I was crying like crazy, and I honestly couldn’t see the good in any situation. I saw someone compare it to having paranoia, and, yeah, that’s exactly what it felt like. I started taking everything my boyfriend and others said to me to heart, and it really put me in a bad place. I confided in my therapist and my gyno to figure out why I was feeling this way, and they let me know this feeling was natural and to give it some time. It’s been about 4-5 months on this pill, and honestly, I feel fine. So if you're worried about the mood swings, don’t take this pill, but if you think you can wait it out, I say go for it. It’s been doing me justice this far."
