"I had a very positive experience on Blisovi. I took it for approximately 3 years and just switched over to the Nexplanon implant because I wanted something a little more foolproof as far as birth control goes. Blisovi helped manage my PMS symptoms significantly, and I experienced no negative mental health or physical side effects from taking it. My periods were very light and lasted 4 days."

"I have been on this BC for a little less than a month, and I absolutely HATE it! I have gained 6 pounds for no reason, I have been spotting the entire time, I have broken out (I never get acne usually), and I am super irritable. I don’t recommend this BC at all, I will be requesting to change ASAP."

"So it worked, meaning I didn’t get pregnant. But it messed me up big time. Let me tell you, it ruined my sex drive, and anytime my boyfriend and I had sex, it would feel like sandpaper was being rubbed down there. I suffer from anxiety, but my panic attacks were horrible on this birth control. I couldn’t keep weight on for the life of me. I see a lot of people talk about weight gain, but I dropped 13 pounds from being on this stuff. It must’ve been the anxiety or not having an appetite. Lastly, I had recurring BV three times within the 4 1/2 months as a side effect when I was on Blisovi. I stopped taking it a few weeks ago because I kept thinking I had so much wrong with me and was willing to try whatever to see. My mom told me to stop taking the birth control, and ever since I’ve been feeling so much better. My anxiety has calmed down a lot. My sex life is back and better. The BV hasn’t returned, and I’ve had an actual appetite since. Birth control sucks, and I hated my experience with Blisovi."

"I've been on this birth control, Blisovi 24 Fe, for about 4 months, and it works great at regulating my periods. I now have a steady cycle and no cramps or PMS at all, but it literally ruined the last couple of months of my life by affecting my mental health. I've struggled with depression and anxiety before going on the pill, and it was 100x magnified by this birth control. I cry over every little thing and am so depressed and anxious that I can't do my work or go to school. Switching off ASAP."

"I have been on this birth control pill for the last 6 months, and I am completely miserable. It was originally prescribed as a generic for Loloestrin, but that simply cannot be the case. I have been chronically bloated, emotional, spotting, on top of which I am also experiencing a regular to heavy period. When I was on Lolo, I had no negative side effects, and it effectively minimized my monthly period. Ultimately, I feel really misinformed by the PA who prescribed this as a generic."

"I have been on this for a month and a half. Until reading the reviews, I did not realize why I have been so angry, moody, and depressed. I did not even think about that as a side effect. I have had a period for two weeks, I am so mad. I started the pill to have sex, not to be unable to. I also leave for a cruise in a few days. I am so mad."

"I was prescribed this as my regular birth control (Meliane) was not available here. I completed my first month on Blisovi, and it has been horrible. It made me very irritable and paranoid (I'm usually laid back to indifferent), and it has killed all sex drive I had. I've had more than usual hair loss with dry skin and scalp. It also caused vaginal dryness for me and made sex uncomfortable. I've had bad constipation despite upping my intake of fiber to counter things, and when it was time for my period, I didn't bleed but had severe cramps and backaches-basically all my PMS symptoms without bleeding, which made me worried about being pregnant (I checked and am not). The good thing is that it is completely covered by my insurance."

"I was on this birth control pill for 10-11 months. It caused me to have periods during week 2 of the pills, vaginal dryness, a lot of hair loss and breakage, really bad embarrassing acne, weight gain, bloating, constant infections, PMS symptoms, etc. I kept going to my OBGYN thinking I had cancer or something was broken. She told me to keep taking them. No way. I quit taking them 2 weeks ago, and I feel better already. I'm just afraid it might have done some fertility damage. Time to find a new OBGYN and stay off of birth control pills because the side effects aren't worth it! Just will track my ovulation and avoid sex on those days. It's sad OBGYNs tell you to stay on pills with all these negative side effects, they don't truly care."

"This birth control was terrible! Yes, it protected against pregnancy, but the side effects were awful. I had ridiculous mood swings and became very depressed. I am usually a very happy person, so I knew it had to be this medication."

"I have switched to this medication because they discontinued Micronor, which was perfect for me. When I started taking Blisovi, I had headaches, and any birth control for me never makes cramps go away except for Micronor. So I still had cramps. A little bit of weight gain. I was super emotional and moody. Regular 5- to 6-day periods. After taking these pills for about 4 months, the side effects got better. I barely get headaches. My period is lighter than it has ever been, 1 to 3 days. The only time I'm emotional is on my placebo week. And I am not pregnant. :) Overall, it's a tolerable pill."

"I don't leave comments on medicines, but this was the worst birth control I've been on, so I want to make others aware. I'm just finishing my second pack and have gained weight, got cystic acne, and have been more prone to anxiety attacks. I've had a lot of headaches and very irritable. I'm switching off this birth control after this week since I only have 3 pills left, and my doctor wants me to finish this pack before starting a new one. I highly advise not taking this medicine -- the side effects have been unbearable."

"I started Blisovi 24 Fe birth control 4 months ago. At first, everything seemed okay, but these last 2 months have been horrible. I am 30 years old and I have NEVER had any issues with acne. Now I'm constantly finding new bumps popping up around my chin and forehead. The last 8 or so days left in my pack, I feel like complete crap. My stomach constantly cramps, I feel constipated, I feel nauseous, I have headaches, I feel tired, and I'm constantly hungry. I'm bloated all of the time. My doctor has now changed me to Junel... hoping for better luck."

"I was on Lo Lo Estrin FE for many years and began having irregular periods for quite some time, so I was given Blisovi as a replacement. Two months in, I still feel pretty bloated and my mood swings are crazy. One minute, I'm fine, the next, someone is in the line of fire. I feel much more sluggish, a bit less motivated, and my fuse has been so short I can barely tolerate anyone's company. I have been experiencing a pretty low sex drive. I can't stand this pill anymore. I've been told I am more 'touchy' to things, seem more irritable (even my therapist told me he's noticed my irritability increased). I know not everyone's experience will be the same, and I am sure someone may have a great experience... unfortunately, mine was not."

"I took Lamed 24 Fe and then got switched to this. It seems the same except I've had a few headaches, but that could be due to being sick the past two weeks. I've gained a few pounds, but that could be because I went from a 32C to now a 30DDD. My skin is about the same, maybe a little less breakouts, nothing bad at all."

"I have been taking Blisovi for almost 2 years now. This BC regulated my period, cleared up my acne, and stopped the cramps. However, I had bad nausea and headaches at the start, which the doctor told me would stop as I continued, so I kept taking it. Eventually, the nausea went away, but the headaches didn't. I had terrible backaches. I gained at least 40 lbs since starting. I'm in college, so it's hard to eat healthy/exercise when in school & working, but gaining this much weight this fast is not normal. I was already depressed because of school, but this BC made me mean/irritable, I have lost my motivation, and I feel like a different person. I just stopped taking this pill and switched to a hormonal IUD, so I'll see if anything changes. The negative side effects were too much to bear."

"I have been on various forms of birth control for 16 years and have never had an issue with any of them. I was put on Blisovi because Gildess was recalled. It was a literal nightmare! I was irritable, exhausted, and I hate to use the word but crazy! My breasts were huge, swollen, and sore, and I had horrible periods. I stayed on it for 4 months because I thought I would adjust, but it just got worse. I am now on Junel, and all is back to normal. DO NOT TAKE THIS PILL!"

"I had hives and an allergic reaction to Blisovi. It was substituted by my pharmacy after I was taking Lomedia, which I enjoyed taking for two years. Three weeks into taking it, hives all over my stomach and somewhat on my arms. My lips were swollen and dry. I discontinued it and immediately had to be switched by my doctor. I can't recommend this drug at all."

"I started taking Blisovi 4 years ago. It was not until I discovered this page of reviews that I realized things that I thought were just wrong with me (high anxiety, fatigue, feelings of emptiness, pain during intercourse, bloating, hair falling out, etc.) were actually birth control side effects. I am stopping this pill now and getting an IUD instead."

"This stuff is the worst. I have ovarian cysts, so this is what my gyno recommended. I have been on it for 8 months or so and had spotting between periods for several months, and now I haven’t had a period in 3 months. Sounds great, right? Not so much. I am constantly bloated and uncomfortable. My depression, insomnia, and anxiety are worse than ever, as well as my acne. I wouldn’t recommend this to my worst enemy."

"I have never left a review on a medication, but I need other women to be warned! I was on this two months, and it was the WORST two months. I gained 13 pounds, my acne flared up like never before, I was constantly nauseous (throwing up almost every day), breakthrough bleeding if you are even 10 minutes late taking the pill, but the absolute worst side effect was how heightened my anxiety and depression became. Panic attacks almost every day, and they were so severe and worse than they have ever been. Crying LITERALLY all the time about everything. Did not have any desire to leave my house, and when I did, I was so anxious it wasn't even worth it. Even if you aren't sure how your body will react to this pill, I would NOT chance it."

"I’ve been on this for three weeks and nauseous the whole time. I haven’t stopped bleeding since I started it. I have PCOS and wanted something to help with cysts. I was on Femcon for years, but they took me off when I had an odd pap. I’ve since had a child and been off BC for years. This stuff just makes me feel awful. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone."

"This birth control definitely lightened my period significantly, which was my main reason for getting on birth control. BUT, it made me extremely depressed and heat intolerant, and at 19, I should not be having hot flashes."

"I was switched to this medication because every year I tend to 'outgrow' a medication and get non-stop periods. But this one was by far the worst out of the 10 I've ever been on over the past 10 years. I got acne so severe that I had to go on Accutane, and at age 28, that's really embarrassing, and my face is still covered in scars. I never had acne before this medication. Also, the cramping all month never went away, constant spotting, etc. Mood swings, bloating, crazy weight gain. And anxiety and migraines like you couldn't believe. I wouldn't give this medication to my worst enemy."

"DO NOT TAKE THIS! This past year has been the worst year ever! All of a sudden, I have the craziest symptoms that don’t go away no matter what I do. Severe migraines all the time! I gained 10+ pounds! I have never had an issue with weight in my life. I work out 6 times a week, eat extremely healthy, and the scale is just going up! It’s affected my mental health so much because it makes you feel like you’re going crazy. I’m extremely tired no matter how much sleep I get. My anxiety has been out of control. I’m sad and tired. Irritable all the time for no reason. My stomach always hurts. My periods are so irregular, I won’t get a period for a couple of months, then I’ll spot and bleed randomly all the time. My vision has all of a sudden gotten bad? I’ve never had eye problems in my life. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to connect these symptoms to this birth control! STAY FAR AWAY!"

"I was extremely nervous to start taking Blisovi after reading all of the reviews on here. I am 18, and it was my first time taking birth control pills, but I have been taking it for many months and have had ZERO negative side effects. My skin is more clear now than it has ever been, my weight has not changed, no headaches, etc. I also have some school-related anxiety and was worried because a lot of people said it worsened their anxiety, but I have not experienced this."
