For Birth Control "Good things first; shorter, lighter periods, came at the same time every month, like started and ended the same day of the week, less pain, I get really bad backaches. Now for the bad stuff; discharge, horrible discharge every day. Acne, weight gain, mood changes, like so bad! It ruined my new relationship and turned me into an anxious, depressed mess. Like a literal crazy person. Gave it a three because it's easy to use, I didn't get pregnant, and it made my periods easier. So it did its job, but turned me into a crazy person."

For Birth Control "Can't recommend. The mood swings and fatigue were nothing compared to the violent nausea I experienced when taking this pill. I actually mistook the symptoms for food poisoning for the first couple of days I was taking it. I figured my body would adjust eventually, but after a couple of weeks I couldn't handle it anymore. The sickness subsided immediately when I stopped taking this pill. Estrogen can irritate the stomach, so it might just be that I'm particularly sensitive. I'm now taking a progesterone-only pill, and so far no upset tummy. :)"

For Birth Control "I started taking this a week ago, and I have also been very sleepy. I had about 12 hours asleep and felt the need to take a nap that afternoon. I also have been feeling like my ovaries were tender and somewhat sore. It's not very painful, but uncomfortable. I was also very moody."

For Birth Control "I went to a clinic in downtown. The doctor came in with a bag of these pills without asking me what I wanted to take. I've been on 10 different pills in my lifetime, this one was really the worst. My mood swings were terrible, followed by depression I've never had before. Strange breakthrough bleeding. I cry over nothing like my second trimester of pregnancy, with terrible bloating. They should rename this terrible drug to something evil-sounding to truly reflect what it is like. After I stopped taking it, I felt normal again. The Family Planning Associates should really consider having their doctor take more than 2 minutes with a patient. Careless."

For Birth Control "I was on Chateal for about 2 months, and the first month wasn't too troubling until I hit the second month, and I developed a lot of emotional and mental instabilities that I've never had before. I came across suicidal thoughts, and my sex drive was pretty much nonexistent, which has never been a problem before (hence the BC). I got off of it after a week of a mental breakdown, and I started feeling much better and myself again, but I had HORRIBLE intense period cramps immediately after. I personally did not like this birth control."

For Birth Control "So I had to switch to Chantel because I do not have insurance. I had emotional issues and I think for me personally it was due to switching birth control pills. I was leaving for school like I had time after time, and this one day I was leaving and I saw my cat, and I had tears well up in my eyes. Omg. It has been better since I'm on my second month. I read some comments and I guess I am experiencing some fatigue as well. My biggest complaint for this is the acne! I didn't have flawless skin before, but I would rarely get pimples, and since I switched to this, they are all over me! Face, chest, back of my neck, and even on my scalp! I cannot wait to get a new pill! Acne alone makes me want to stop this pill!"

For Premenstrual Syndrome "This helped my PMDD, however, it makes sex painful, no matter how much lubrication I use. It also caused me to develop post-coital dysphoria, which I never experienced before I went on the pill. This pill also lowers libido, which can be positive or negative, depending on who you are."

For Birth Control "The first month of taking Chateal was fine. After a month went by, I started getting acne, which I never had, my mood swings were very uncontrollable, I became very, very depressed, and very emotional. The side effects aren't the best."

For Birth Control "For many years, I took a different form of combined hormone birth control pills (Apri). I eventually discontinued this when I realized it had been what was causing anxiety (panic attacks), low libido, and migraine headaches. Earlier this year, I decided I would like to try a different type of pill and was given Chateal. I started in early March and have constantly questioned it. This type of pill has not caused the problems I had with Apri, which is great, and has also made my boobs about 2x bigger (!! awesome), but I have many other side effects. Side effects include: severe breast tenderness, weight gain (5 lb in 4 months, which is very unusual for me), but also just general abdominal bloating, cystic acne on face/chest/back (which I never have usually), poor sleep (waking up frequently), mild anxiety and sharp irritability, and thick white vaginal discharge (unrelated to yeast infection). Maybe this pill works for some people, but after 4.5 months, my body is clearly not taking well to it."

For Birth Control "I have been on Chateal for almost 3 years. I’ve read all these reviews and see that everyone hates it the first couple of months and gets off Chateal. Well, I hated it too the first 6 months. It gave me the worst headaches, backaches, and my breasts were sore. Also, I would get horrible chest pain. However, after those 6 months, I was fine. I never experienced any breakthrough bleeding. I always get my period when I’m supposed to, and it lasts 4-7 days. I think this is a great birth control because my partner and I don’t use condoms, and I’ve never had a pregnancy scare. I like it."

For Birth Control "Overall, great birth control. I've tried three different birth control pills and I think Chateal is my favorite. I have, however, experienced some negative side effects. Weight gain: my weight always fluctuates, but in the last 8 months of using this birth control, I’ve gained 10 pounds. Anxiety: I’ve noticed my anxiety and my depression peak, especially the week prior to my period. I was giving it a few months, but I realize it’s the pill because my anxiety skyrockets during week 3. Now for the pros! In addition to the negative side effects, I’ve had amazing effects as well. One being regularity: my period works like clockwork and I’m back to 3-day periods like when I was a teenager. It’s great! I’ve also noticed a lighter flow. I don’t normally have skin problems, and this has had no effects on my skin, possibly has made it even clearer."

For Birth Control "Previously, I was on a Microgestin pill from Planned Parenthood, but I wanted a pill that would let me have my periods, so they switched me to Chateal. It was a bit more potent than the one I was previously on, but I really did not experience any worse side effects. I experienced moderate weight gain - I am already pretty petite, though, so this did not bother me. The only time I experience any mood problems is the few days preceding my period. The pack that I have has the 4th row of reminder/sugar pills, and I usually do not start bleeding until my 3rd or 4th day in, and the periods are light and very manageable. All in all, I have had a great experience, however, my transition from Microgestin pills to Chateal may have played a leading role."

For Endometriosis "I started Chateal four months ago to stop endometriosis pain. It does the job, all I have is minor bloating and cramping occasionally. However, it has worsened my depression and made me irritable and mean. I get panic attacks too now, which never happened before. It's changed my personality. It makes me incredibly nauseous, and my appetite has lessened as well. I also get acne on my chest and back, which is new as well. Other than the lack of period pain, this pill has been a horrible experience."

For Birth Control "The first month of taking it, it had my emotions all out of whack. There was definitely a decrease in my sex drive. I didn't see a difference in my weight or acne. Those stayed about the same. My period cramps are much worse. But overall, the pill did prevent me from getting pregnant."

For Birth Control "This pill has really worked for me. It's the only BC I've ever been on, and it's been close to two years of no worries. The first week I started taking it, I had to pee like crazy. I've gained some weight, but I don't know if I can blame it on the pill."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Started this to treat abnormal, irregular periods. I can say it treated that perfectly. No irregular nor painful periods ever since I started it. I used to also break out super hard before my period, and that was also cleared up. I might get one small zit a month now. However, I cannot take this medication anymore. It has an incredibly strong effect on my mood, it makes me nauseous, and my appetite for both food and sex is nearly zero. I want to like this birth control. I've been on it for more than four months now, but it is not for me. I cannot handle how it affects my stomach and my mood. I won't say it's terrible, though, because it does do what it's meant to do. My periods are incredibly light and regular. Comes right on the second day of the last week and lasts only about three or four days. I recommend at least trying it. It is effective. Just keep a journal for your moods and sex drive."

For Birth Control "I've been taking Chateal for almost 6 months, and it's been pretty great. I've had no complications or side effects. I take it within a two-hour frame every morning, and my period comes on schedule every month. Other birth control I've taken gave me breakthrough bleeding for 2+ weeks, but Chateal keeps me regular."

For Birth Control "So I haven't really been on this brand of the pill for long, however, it has been a horrible experience. A little background: I have been on another brand of birth control before but went off of it and instead was put on this one. After a week, I started experiencing so many horrible things. First was acne, my skin is usually clear, but this made me break out a lot. However, the worst part of it all is the mood swings and emotions. I cry for absolutely no reason and just feel sad. I'm usually not like this, but now even talking to someone will make me burst out in tears, and based on other reviews I see I'm not alone. In terms of not getting pregnant, if used correctly, it does the job, but to me, it's just not worth it."

For Birth Control "I've been on Chateal for almost 2 months now. I went to Planned Parenthood because I was having irregular bleeding as well as really bad acne, which I never had before. They gave me a year's supply of Chateal, and as soon as I went home and saw the bad reviews, I was really hesitant to start them. The first few weeks, I felt a little nauseous, but nothing unbearable, a few headaches, but they weren't totally painful, and my acne cleared up. I was really happy that it seemed to agree with my body until I started to notice I was losing some hair. Now, 2 months into it, I feel like I've lost quite a lot of hair, there's no bald patches or anything, but I used to have really thick hair, and now my hair has really thinned out, and strands are always coming out constantly. It's making me really insecure about something I never had a problem with. As much as I'd love to stay on Chateal, I've made an appointment with my new doctor to hopefully find something else."

For Birth Control "Works great for preventing pregnancy. Cleared up my skin. Gained a little weight. Crazy irritable and emotional a couple of days before my period, with a few breakouts and constipation. Haven't had any luck with skipping my period-always breaks through somehow. So I'm switching, but it's been pretty good so far anyways."

For Birth Control "So it did its job in keeping me not pregnant, but I did notice some weight gain, and my reason for leaving this pill was huge: ZERO sex drive. I have never had a problem with this before, nor have I ever had a problem with self-lubrication, but almost immediately after starting this pill, my sex drive plummeted, and I could not get wet during sex at all."

For Birth Control "I took this pill for already 1 week and started experiencing negative side effects to it. I was already cautious from reading others' reviews and wanted to watch out and see what I might experience. They were so not good. I've dealt with severe acne growing up and I have finally felt confident in my skin and body when I finally got it to go away. When I got on this pill, I saw acne all over my face almost the next morning. I broke out everywhere. Then I've noticed I feel major bloating and have noticed I am way more emotional than usual. I am already a highly sensitive person and this pill was not right for me at all."

For Birth Control "With all the bad reviews, I was scared to try this! So far, I have had 0 symptoms: no weight gain, no hair loss, no appetite increase/decrease. I guess everyone's body is different, but this birth control works amazing for me."

For Birth Control "I started Chateal four months ago. Bad idea, I've gained 20 pounds, something extremely unusual for me because I had the same weight since I was 15, and I've been having acne episodes, which is even more rare because I never had it before either. No severe mood changes, but I've been very tired and sleepy too. Conclusion: This pill sucks. I can't wait to change it."

For Birth Control "I'm on my 3rd pack of Chateal, and I just called my birth control provider to ask them if they could switch me to another pill. It's worked for me the last 3 months that I've been on it, but with some side effects. Like really bad nausea, stomach pains, but the one that really bothered me was the acne. I usually have really clear skin and only get acne when I'm about to start my period, but ever since I started taking these, I break out like crazy! I expect to see a new pimple right after taking a pill. They're always really bad ones too! Hopefully my next pill is better!"
