For Birth Control "I started taking Chateal about a month and a half ago. The first month was fine, and I thought I found a BC with no side effects. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for the second month. Around my 5th week, I started to get bad headaches and wasn’t sure where it was coming from until I read the reviews. My other side effect was irregular bleeding. My period ended between 4-5 days, and then about 4 days after it ended, I started bleeding again. It wasn’t heavy, and it wasn’t deep red, however, it did have a “scent” that isn’t normal for me or my periods. I’m trying not to stop because, of course, I don’t want to get pregnant, but my side effects are embarrassing and uncomfortable. Seeing now that a lot of women lost their sex drive is really making me want to stop this medication tomorrow. Hopefully, your experience is different."

For Birth Control "I've been on this for almost a year, and I've never had any issue except mild nausea before my period. My periods used to be very heavy and last two weeks, and the PMS would take a serious toll on me. On this, my periods are lighter and last 4-5 days. My PMS is significantly lessened. I still get teary-eyed pretty easily before my period, but now I'm not a raging PMS machine."

For Birth Control "I was on Chateal for about two years until I moved to a different state that didn't carry it. The best thing about it was it cleared my skin completely! I wouldn't even wash my face for days, and I still never got a pimple (I'm definitely prone to acne). However, it did lower my sex drive and make me extremely apathetic. The week before my period, I always got aggravated easily too, which was odd 'cause I'm a very mellow person. No weight gain, though! The first month, it did make me a little emotional, but after that, I really didn't have any emotions (which was the problem). However, I really do miss this medication. Now I constantly have acne, and the pill I'm on now makes me spot. Definitely recommend Chateal, though."

For Birth Control "I was initially prescribed Chateal in August of 2016 and began experiencing intense mood swings after several months’ use. I am a very emotionally stable person normally, so after journaling the effects and doing some research, I decided that this was not normal and stopped taking it. I felt better right away. After starting a new relationship, I started taking Chateal again in October of 2017, hoping that this time it would be different... it wasn’t. About two months in, I began feeling depressed and experiencing deep-in-the-pit-of-my-stomach anxiety. I would go from a happy mood to a depressed mood and back again in the matter of minutes, even waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety. I experienced terrible insomnia, irritability, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. After reading reviews, I am happy to know that I am not as crazy as I feel and that other people have dealt with the same things, so hopefully this review can help someone else!"

For Birth Control "Everything seemed fine, except for being super moody and crying a lot. I've had gas, bloating, vomiting twice, keeping me up all night, and that never used to happen. Also, a decreased libido. Honestly, not having sex is better than this."

For Birth Control "I honestly started taking this pill and loved it. I wasn't getting any acne or weight gain; however, 3 months into taking this pill, my periods suddenly stopped. My periods stopped, but I was still having cramps. It's actually become very concerning."

For Birth Control "I have been taking this birth control for almost 1 month, and starting my next month tomorrow. Not very many side effects, except for tiredness and a few headaches here and there. The headaches are coming more frequently now, but I am not sure if the birth control is causing this. But Chateal has worked great for me."

For Birth Control "I gave these pills a fair shot. After the first few months, I really started to notice extreme mood swings and an overall change in my mood. I was always angry, sad, and unhappy. Especially the week before my period, I was just plain psychotic. My cramps got worse on this pill too, they would start up to a week before my period. My periods got longer but also lighter. I gained 30 pounds in a year, and my acne got worse after about 6 months. The acne cleared up the first few months, though. I also would get nausea and headaches. My sex drive was just fine, no change. Vaginal dryness, yes. It did work, though, never had a single pregnancy scare. I just couldn't handle the mood changes, and neither could my relationship."

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "I woke up last night at 1 a.m. to serious cramps and a heavy flow after taking Chateal for three months. The cramps slowly got worse, keeping me up until 4 a.m. when they felt like contractions. At this point, I woke my boyfriend up and asked him to take me to the hospital. On our way, I started gushing bright red blood, and many, many blood clots came along with that. As soon as I got into the ER, I had lost so much blood that they thought I was miscarrying, so they didn't make me wait. I was passing out, bleeding out, getting hot, and throwing up profusely. I literally thought I was dying. They were talking about the possibility of me needing a blood transfusion. After a pregnancy test, ultrasound, pelvic exam, and blood tests, they told me I was not miscarrying but was likely caused by the birth control I was on at the time. Five hours later, I had been given enough blood to leave the hospital, but I am still weak and tired from the blood loss. I will no longer take Chateal."

For Birth Control "I've only been taking this birth control for about 4 days, which, yes, I know is little, but I don't think I can stand another day! I feel nauseous on it and threw up a few times, and I slept until 1:30 pm today (so I had about 13 hours of sleep, if not more, and I would've kept sleeping if my brother didn't wake me up). I still feel exhausted and can barely walk around without wanting to sit. Hopefully, you won't get this experience, but I really don't think I can continue on this pill, waiting it out is not worth it for me."

"I've been on Chateal for about a year and a half. I agree with many reviews that it's very effective for its intended purpose, but the side effects are awful. I've experienced extreme moodiness, irritability, and depression, panic attacks, and what I believe was a burst ovarian cyst. I've also been experiencing acne on my chest and back, which I've never had before. A few months ago, I ended up in the ER after having a severe panic attack and throwing up in the middle of the night. I can't say that the Chateal was directly responsible for the burst cyst, but I'm 30 years old and have been using BC since the age of 16 -- I've never experienced any of these conditions prior to using Chateal, save for your standard PMSing."

For Birth Control "I was on Chateal for 4 months, and I didn't like it. I was always moody and very emotional. I was always feeling depressed, and I didn't like that. I'm normally a happy person, so when I started feeling this way, I immediately wanted to switch birth control. The only thing I liked about it was that I had an appetite and was able to gain weight like I wanted to, unlike the other birth controls I've taken. I didn't like being moody all the time, so I switched to the depo shot, and I've been so much happier."

For Birth Control "I always had really severe period pain, and I would throw up. So, I started a birth control, and it made me feel horrible. I no longer threw up, but it made me severely depressed. I was afraid to try another pill. I started Chateal, and I didn't gain any weight. I didn't get depressed or break out any more than normal. And I no longer felt pain. I do still get slight nausea around my period, but nowhere near as bad as before. I have taken this pill a little more than a year, and I have not gotten pregnant either. Although I use other precautions as well. My sister is looking for a good birth control, and this is the one I've been recommending."

For Polycystic Ovary Syndrome "I was put on Chateal 5 months ago because I was diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroidism. I had bleeding for 28 weeks prior, so they wanted to stop it. It didn't regulate me at all. I've experienced period cramping, which I've never had before. I've lost weight and my sex drive. I've had nausea, dizziness, frequent migraines, blood in stool. But worst of all, stomach cramps and extreme pain in the abdomen area. If I stop taking the pills, the bleeding will continue, and I won't be able to get the tests I need to find out what is wrong. All in all, I'm going back on Friday to get more tests and a biopsy. If this birth control gives you extreme side effects or doesn't regulate your period, contact your doctor right away."

For Birth Control "I've had a great experience on Chateal. I used to have terrible migraines and unbearable cramps that on more than one occasion threatened to send me to the ER (and only didn't because I couldn't stand up and walk to the car to get there), and that all stopped when I got on birth control. I started on Levora and switched to Chateal, the transition was seamless. I haven't had any of my previous problems and... it just works. If you are the kind of person who is able to take your pill at the same time each day (and really be consistent), then I would absolutely suggest this pill."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this pill for about 2 1/2 years now! I love it! My periods have lightened tremendously, and Chateal has cut the amount of time that I'm on my period in half! Everyone's body reacts differently, but for me, the only side effects have been positive!"

For Birth Control "My experience with my first month of using Chateal has been eventful. I feel a little less stress in the getting not getting pregnant aspect of taking birth control, however, the side effects have been testing. I'm almost always feeling nauseous or bloated, and I can tell I've gained a lot of weight. I have had crazy mood swings, which has caused some issues between my boyfriend and me. I was out to eat with some friends, and I literally wanted to simultaneously punch a wall, laugh, and cry all at once. I feel my depression is growing stronger, but I am taking preemptive strikes to keep that controlled. Yes, I would suggest this pill. However, Chateal may not be for everyone."

For Birth Control "I've been on this birth control for about 2 years. My previous prescription made me very nauseous, so I was prescribed a less strong pill. Right away, it made me very emotional (I am not an emotional person at all, but that didn't bother me as much). A few months ago, I realized how moody I was acting; I was sad and angry for no reason. So I decided to take a break and request a new prescription; however, I procrastinated for too long and needed the extra protection, so I decided to give it another try. It's been maybe 3 months, and I don't feel moody, but I get nauseous badly once a week for about 15 minutes, and then it goes away, but I do think it has a lot to do with starting over. It is very reliable. Contraceptive pills are different for everyone."

For Birth Control "I am going into the second week of taking birth control. I was super stoked for it, not going to lie, but after all these symptoms I'm having, I'm not so sure anymore. I know everyone's body is different, but if you are anywhere near as sensitive as I am, I wouldn't recommend taking it. Within the first week, I had woken up with extreme nausea and eventually vomited. With that occurrence, I had automatically thought the pill didn't work and I was pregnant, but I did take a test, and so far so good. Anyway, I am now starting to get period-type symptoms of tender breasts and cramps, which those are easy for me to look past and not worry too much about. However, not too long ago, I woke up and felt almost empty, sad, and depressed."

For Birth Control "I took Chateal for 3 months. I was depressed, got nauseous every day, got horrible headaches, gained 20 pounds, got horrible acne, had the worst cramps, lost my sex drive. I stopped taking them 3 weeks ago, my acne is clearing up, my headaches are gone, my sex drive is back, but I have been bleeding since I stopped taking them."

For Birth Control "This pill did clear my acne, but it took about six months. It gives me this weird feeling like I am about to burst out in tears, but I do not because there is nothing to be upset about when I think about it. I was in a negative mental rut today, and I think it was due to this pill. No weight gain, and I hope the mood swings are not as bad as I am naturally already a moody person. Very effective in preventing pregnancy. I stopped it a year ago for a more natural method of B.C., but resumed taking it because my acne came back."

For Birth Control "This birth control is an amateur one for sure. I have been on it for almost 3 months now. I have mood swings, weight gain in hips and thighs (I'm a professional athlete and have never had weight there), increased appetite, and occasional bleeding. I have had some minor breakouts too. I am definitely switching over to a different brand."

For Birth Control "I've been taking this brand for a few months now, and I am very happy with it. In the first month, I did realize a bit more acne than usual, though this may have been due to stress as well. In the later months, acne was not a problem. I was slightly more emotional during the placebo weeks, but nothing too out of control. I found that my cramps were virtually disappearing with less and less pain each month. Good reviews aren't written that often. I recommend this brand if you are not easily prone to oily skin and breakouts. Oh! And no weight gain!"

For Abnormal Uterine Bleeding "Before taking Chateal, I was on Sprintec for 9 years. I had a flawless experience with Sprintec, but when my health insurance ended, I was left with Chateal. The first few months were fine, but over time, I started spotting between periods more and more frequently. I was very careful about taking it at the same time every day, but still, the spotting persisted. After just over a year on Chateal and about 6 months of spotting, I switched back to Sprintec a week ago, and no spotting yet! Also, while on Chateal, I felt down a lot of the time and had pretty bad anxiety. I'd rather pay out of pocket for Sprintec than get Chateal for free. It kept me from getting pregnant, though, so it works in that sense."

For Birth Control "I have been on Chateal since Oct 2015, and the only negative thing about it is the extreme weight gain... I am a professional personal trainer, very athletic, eat a very well-balanced diet for my needs, and I've gained about 12 lbs... I am not happy at all. Before Chateal, I was on Ortho 7/7/7, and on that pill, I never gained weight, never had a problem, and I had no need to get off it and go on something else."
