"Everything seemed fine, except for being super moody and crying a lot. I've had gas, bloating, vomiting twice, keeping me up all night, and that never used to happen. Also, a decreased libido. Honestly, not having sex is better than this."

"I honestly started taking this pill and loved it. I wasn't getting any acne or weight gain; however, 3 months into taking this pill, my periods suddenly stopped. My periods stopped, but I was still having cramps. It's actually become very concerning."

"I have been taking this birth control for almost 1 month, and starting my next month tomorrow. Not very many side effects, except for tiredness and a few headaches here and there. The headaches are coming more frequently now, but I am not sure if the birth control is causing this. But Chateal has worked great for me."

"I gave these pills a fair shot. After the first few months, I really started to notice extreme mood swings and an overall change in my mood. I was always angry, sad, and unhappy. Especially the week before my period, I was just plain psychotic. My cramps got worse on this pill too, they would start up to a week before my period. My periods got longer but also lighter. I gained 30 pounds in a year, and my acne got worse after about 6 months. The acne cleared up the first few months, though. I also would get nausea and headaches. My sex drive was just fine, no change. Vaginal dryness, yes. It did work, though, never had a single pregnancy scare. I just couldn't handle the mood changes, and neither could my relationship."

"I've only been taking this birth control for about 4 days, which, yes, I know is little, but I don't think I can stand another day! I feel nauseous on it and threw up a few times, and I slept until 1:30 pm today (so I had about 13 hours of sleep, if not more, and I would've kept sleeping if my brother didn't wake me up). I still feel exhausted and can barely walk around without wanting to sit. Hopefully, you won't get this experience, but I really don't think I can continue on this pill, waiting it out is not worth it for me."

"I was on Chateal for 4 months, and I didn't like it. I was always moody and very emotional. I was always feeling depressed, and I didn't like that. I'm normally a happy person, so when I started feeling this way, I immediately wanted to switch birth control. The only thing I liked about it was that I had an appetite and was able to gain weight like I wanted to, unlike the other birth controls I've taken. I didn't like being moody all the time, so I switched to the depo shot, and I've been so much happier."

"I always had really severe period pain, and I would throw up. So, I started a birth control, and it made me feel horrible. I no longer threw up, but it made me severely depressed. I was afraid to try another pill. I started Chateal, and I didn't gain any weight. I didn't get depressed or break out any more than normal. And I no longer felt pain. I do still get slight nausea around my period, but nowhere near as bad as before. I have taken this pill a little more than a year, and I have not gotten pregnant either. Although I use other precautions as well. My sister is looking for a good birth control, and this is the one I've been recommending."

"I've had a great experience on Chateal. I used to have terrible migraines and unbearable cramps that on more than one occasion threatened to send me to the ER (and only didn't because I couldn't stand up and walk to the car to get there), and that all stopped when I got on birth control. I started on Levora and switched to Chateal, the transition was seamless. I haven't had any of my previous problems and... it just works. If you are the kind of person who is able to take your pill at the same time each day (and really be consistent), then I would absolutely suggest this pill."

"I've been taking this pill for about 2 1/2 years now! I love it! My periods have lightened tremendously, and Chateal has cut the amount of time that I'm on my period in half! Everyone's body reacts differently, but for me, the only side effects have been positive!"

"My experience with my first month of using Chateal has been eventful. I feel a little less stress in the getting not getting pregnant aspect of taking birth control, however, the side effects have been testing. I'm almost always feeling nauseous or bloated, and I can tell I've gained a lot of weight. I have had crazy mood swings, which has caused some issues between my boyfriend and me. I was out to eat with some friends, and I literally wanted to simultaneously punch a wall, laugh, and cry all at once. I feel my depression is growing stronger, but I am taking preemptive strikes to keep that controlled. Yes, I would suggest this pill. However, Chateal may not be for everyone."

"I've been on this birth control for about 2 years. My previous prescription made me very nauseous, so I was prescribed a less strong pill. Right away, it made me very emotional (I am not an emotional person at all, but that didn't bother me as much). A few months ago, I realized how moody I was acting; I was sad and angry for no reason. So I decided to take a break and request a new prescription; however, I procrastinated for too long and needed the extra protection, so I decided to give it another try. It's been maybe 3 months, and I don't feel moody, but I get nauseous badly once a week for about 15 minutes, and then it goes away, but I do think it has a lot to do with starting over. It is very reliable. Contraceptive pills are different for everyone."

"I am going into the second week of taking birth control. I was super stoked for it, not going to lie, but after all these symptoms I'm having, I'm not so sure anymore. I know everyone's body is different, but if you are anywhere near as sensitive as I am, I wouldn't recommend taking it. Within the first week, I had woken up with extreme nausea and eventually vomited. With that occurrence, I had automatically thought the pill didn't work and I was pregnant, but I did take a test, and so far so good. Anyway, I am now starting to get period-type symptoms of tender breasts and cramps, which those are easy for me to look past and not worry too much about. However, not too long ago, I woke up and felt almost empty, sad, and depressed."

"I took Chateal for 3 months. I was depressed, got nauseous every day, got horrible headaches, gained 20 pounds, got horrible acne, had the worst cramps, lost my sex drive. I stopped taking them 3 weeks ago, my acne is clearing up, my headaches are gone, my sex drive is back, but I have been bleeding since I stopped taking them."

"This pill did clear my acne, but it took about six months. It gives me this weird feeling like I am about to burst out in tears, but I do not because there is nothing to be upset about when I think about it. I was in a negative mental rut today, and I think it was due to this pill. No weight gain, and I hope the mood swings are not as bad as I am naturally already a moody person. Very effective in preventing pregnancy. I stopped it a year ago for a more natural method of B.C., but resumed taking it because my acne came back."

"This birth control is an amateur one for sure. I have been on it for almost 3 months now. I have mood swings, weight gain in hips and thighs (I'm a professional athlete and have never had weight there), increased appetite, and occasional bleeding. I have had some minor breakouts too. I am definitely switching over to a different brand."

"I've been taking this brand for a few months now, and I am very happy with it. In the first month, I did realize a bit more acne than usual, though this may have been due to stress as well. In the later months, acne was not a problem. I was slightly more emotional during the placebo weeks, but nothing too out of control. I found that my cramps were virtually disappearing with less and less pain each month. Good reviews aren't written that often. I recommend this brand if you are not easily prone to oily skin and breakouts. Oh! And no weight gain!"

"I'm on my 3rd pack of Chateal, and I just called my birth control provider to ask them if they could switch me to another pill. It's worked for me the last 3 months that I've been on it, but with some side effects. Like really bad nausea, stomach pains, but the one that really bothered me was the acne. I usually have really clear skin and only get acne when I'm about to start my period, but ever since I started taking these, I break out like crazy! I expect to see a new pimple right after taking a pill. They're always really bad ones too! Hopefully my next pill is better!"

"Good things first; shorter, lighter periods, came at the same time every month, like started and ended the same day of the week, less pain, I get really bad backaches. Now for the bad stuff; discharge, horrible discharge every day. Acne, weight gain, mood changes, like so bad! It ruined my new relationship and turned me into an anxious, depressed mess. Like a literal crazy person. Gave it a three because it's easy to use, I didn't get pregnant, and it made my periods easier. So it did its job, but turned me into a crazy person."

"Can't recommend. The mood swings and fatigue were nothing compared to the violent nausea I experienced when taking this pill. I actually mistook the symptoms for food poisoning for the first couple of days I was taking it. I figured my body would adjust eventually, but after a couple of weeks I couldn't handle it anymore. The sickness subsided immediately when I stopped taking this pill. Estrogen can irritate the stomach, so it might just be that I'm particularly sensitive. I'm now taking a progesterone-only pill, and so far no upset tummy. :)"

"I started taking this a week ago, and I have also been very sleepy. I had about 12 hours asleep and felt the need to take a nap that afternoon. I also have been feeling like my ovaries were tender and somewhat sore. It's not very painful, but uncomfortable. I was also very moody."

"I went to a clinic in downtown. The doctor came in with a bag of these pills without asking me what I wanted to take. I've been on 10 different pills in my lifetime, this one was really the worst. My mood swings were terrible, followed by depression I've never had before. Strange breakthrough bleeding. I cry over nothing like my second trimester of pregnancy, with terrible bloating. They should rename this terrible drug to something evil-sounding to truly reflect what it is like. After I stopped taking it, I felt normal again. The Family Planning Associates should really consider having their doctor take more than 2 minutes with a patient. Careless."

"I was on Chateal for about 2 months, and the first month wasn't too troubling until I hit the second month, and I developed a lot of emotional and mental instabilities that I've never had before. I came across suicidal thoughts, and my sex drive was pretty much nonexistent, which has never been a problem before (hence the BC). I got off of it after a week of a mental breakdown, and I started feeling much better and myself again, but I had HORRIBLE intense period cramps immediately after. I personally did not like this birth control."

"So I had to switch to Chantel because I do not have insurance. I had emotional issues and I think for me personally it was due to switching birth control pills. I was leaving for school like I had time after time, and this one day I was leaving and I saw my cat, and I had tears well up in my eyes. Omg. It has been better since I'm on my second month. I read some comments and I guess I am experiencing some fatigue as well. My biggest complaint for this is the acne! I didn't have flawless skin before, but I would rarely get pimples, and since I switched to this, they are all over me! Face, chest, back of my neck, and even on my scalp! I cannot wait to get a new pill! Acne alone makes me want to stop this pill!"

"The first month of taking Chateal was fine. After a month went by, I started getting acne, which I never had, my mood swings were very uncontrollable, I became very, very depressed, and very emotional. The side effects aren't the best."

"For many years, I took a different form of combined hormone birth control pills (Apri). I eventually discontinued this when I realized it had been what was causing anxiety (panic attacks), low libido, and migraine headaches. Earlier this year, I decided I would like to try a different type of pill and was given Chateal. I started in early March and have constantly questioned it. This type of pill has not caused the problems I had with Apri, which is great, and has also made my boobs about 2x bigger (!! awesome), but I have many other side effects. Side effects include: severe breast tenderness, weight gain (5 lb in 4 months, which is very unusual for me), but also just general abdominal bloating, cystic acne on face/chest/back (which I never have usually), poor sleep (waking up frequently), mild anxiety and sharp irritability, and thick white vaginal discharge (unrelated to yeast infection). Maybe this pill works for some people, but after 4.5 months, my body is clearly not taking well to it."
