"I have been taking this birth control pill for about a month after getting my Implanon removed. The Implanon caused me to bleed for four months straight. And it wasn't just a light spotting, but a steady flow. So I was switched to Chateal. After using this for over a month, I am very happy with the results. It stopped the bleeding, and the only side effect that I have experienced is a slight mood change. But other than that, I'm happy with it."

"I have been on this same birth control for 6 years. I haven’t had any unwanted weight gain, no cramps. I do have an awesome regulated period, and finally, my acne has been gone for about 8 months now, and I struggled hardcore with deep cystic acne, and I’m only left with scars. (Thank you!!!!) I don’t have any issues with depression or any signs like that. I do normally have some anxiety, but it hasn’t gotten worse from taking the pill. There is one thing that I struggle with on a day-to-day basis. I have been with the same partner for 4 years, and while we have always had a great sex life (no problems with orgasms), I just have an extremely low sex drive, and I believe this birth control has caused that. It feels like it’s only getting worse. I hope my review helps you. It’s great because no pregnancy, but everyone’s side effects will be different."

"I was on Loestrin for 4 years, and then it changed to Minestrin. I skip my period every month due to my horrible cramps, and no pill seems to help with them. My gynecologist suggested to me that I should skip my period. I switched to Chateal because after years of Loestrin/Minestrin, I think it stopped working properly. I was spotting and cramping, and even tried to get my period, and that was a mistake. Chateal has been wonderful so far. I am almost on my third month, and I haven't had any issues. My cramping is gone, and there has been no spotting at all. I haven't noticed any mood swings or any other side effects some people say they have. I haven't had any weight gain, and I feel like my acne actually has gotten better. I rarely break out now."

"So I wanted to take the time to review this birth control. I had tried several before this one, and none of them were the right one. I would bleed days at a time throughout the whole month on the other brands. Then one day, my doctor told me to try this one. I read so many reviews, and they were bad. I was terrified to try it, but you don't know until you try, right? Well, this is my fourth month on Chateal, and I couldn't be any more pleased. No weight gain, spotting, or mood swings. The only issue I have sometimes is bloating and breaking out, but it goes away. If you struggle with breakthrough bleeding, I definitely recommend this and push the bad reviews out of the way and remember everyone is different."

"While it does prevent pregnancy, it has many negative side effects. I experienced weight gain (weight that won't go away no matter how much exercise I do), frequent acne breakouts, and a negative mood. However, it does what it's supposed to do and keeps my period very regular. I plan on continuing my use of Chateal just because it's my only option and it was free from Planned Parenthood."

"It kept me from getting pregnant, but gave me horrible cramps, even in between periods. My mood was out of control. I had extreme anger and depression, I've never felt so crazy in my life. Mild headaches, but they were daily. Lost my sex drive and got a yeast infection like immediately. Couldn't eat anything, which may sound like a dream come true, but it was really unhealthy. Forcing myself to eat made me nauseous. Also had vaginal dryness, felt really dehydrated, and was constipated. Definitely not the right pill for me. Good luck, ladies, I hope you have a better experience on this. * Take it at the same time every day or you'll get nauseous!"

"I am about to start my third pack of Chateal. Background on me: I'm 27 years old, married, and have had one child (almost 6 years old), no other pregnancies. Before I had my daughter, I had a very regular cycle. For the past few years, things have become very irregular. My doctor has run many tests and doesn't have an explanation for it, but decided to have me try birth control pills to regulate my cycle. The first month was not great. I spotted for 2+ weeks. No other symptoms to speak of. This past month, I got my period 24 hours after taking my first green (placebo) pill. I had an average period in terms of length and flow. No spotting! So I think I've adjusted to it. Hoping this month goes smoothly as well."

"I'm on my second month of taking this pill, and I'm really considering changing to another one. I'm usually not an emotional person, but after around 2 weeks on the pills, I just got super emotional about EVERYTHING. I could start crying while eating, talking, walking-just anytime. And I can't even tell why I'm crying and being so emotional. And I just feel depressed all the time with the mood swings. And I get irritated super easily. Also, since I started taking them, I'm so tired ALL the time, all my energy is gone, and I just want to sleep. I haven't noticed either more or less acne than before. I've gained weight around my hips and thighs. But other than that, I'm not pregnant, so that part of the pill works."

"Although I have to give Chateal credit for doing its job by stopping an unwanted pregnancy, I put on 25 pounds in 4 months. I'd like to also mention I have a fairly low metabolism for the majority of my life. I constantly craved sweets. It made me nauseous every day at random, horrible mood swings, and crying spells the first month. It also increased my cup size and got rid of acne on my back, but the other side effects were too horrific for me. I am now discontinuing the pill and going back to the patch."

"I've been taking it for 4 months. I take it at night around 10, and to be honest, the only thing that bothers me is my boobs are sore and hurt all month long, but I mean I can deal with it. Also, it didn't help with my period cramps, they are still very painful. But no acne or nauseous feelings."

"I have been taking this for about two months to see if it would help with the constant yeast infection I was getting with my previous birth control, it made it worse. I read some reviews before taking this and read a lot of people going through depression but thought to myself it's not going to happen to me. This made me depressed to the point, not wanting to commit suicide but thinking, OMG, this is why people think about it. I hated my life, and there is nothing in my life to be upset about, and making this worse was this pill made me completely lose my sex drive. No wonder the pill works because it makes me not even have the urge to have sex. I stopped taking this pill. I wouldn't recommend this pill to anyone. I only gave it a 7 because it did its job."

"As far as birth control goes, Chateal does its job. It definitely kept me from getting pregnant and was very easy to use as long as you can remember to take the pill at the same time every day (setting an alarm on my phone helped me). However, it gave me horrible acne. I have struggled with acne my whole life, mostly cystic, and after only a few days my face was covered far worse than I've ever had before. I would say if you have cystic acne or are acne-prone in general, do not use this product! It will only make your acne worse."

"I've always had extremely heavy, long periods. My depression and anxiety would flare up the week prior, and I would be exhausted the two days leading up to the starting of it every month. I tried a few other birth controls in the past but either had suicidal thoughts or got pregnant. I opted for Chateal through an online service because, well, frankly, anything was better than what my body went through naturally. I've been on Chateal for over a year now. My depressive episodes are much farther apart and come on much slower. My bleeding lightened up over time from several super plus to maybe one regular and panty liners. No nausea as others reported, and I take mine in the AM with food."

"This was my first birth control medication, and I had a pretty rough time with it. I thought it would help clear up my acne. I didn't have acne issues whatsoever before taking this medication, and it just completely made me break out like never before. Also, I'm not much of an emotional person at all and had major mood swings and sometimes depression. Yes, it did serve its purpose by preventing pregnancy, it did help regulate my period, and my cramps weren't as bad, however, my face is literally a pepperoni face. I just got off of it 2 weeks ago, and my face is starting to clear up, and I'm not moody anymore. For a 19-year-old college student, you definitely don't want to have acne and mood swings. I would not recommend taking this at all."

"I've been taking this for a month. I've never had acne before, and now I do. I get really depressed and have breakdowns. I've been spotting for almost two weeks, and I've put on weight that is hard to lose! I have stomach cramps every few days and sometimes really bad migraines. I hate these pills!"

"I've been on Chateal for around 6 months now. I was originally taking Lzya, which wasn't working out for me, with abnormal bleeding. But since taking Chateal, I've had no issues. I think it's very effective as birth control, no weight gain. I don't think it's affected my mood at all either, sex drive is fine, and it's even pretty good with controlling acne. I'm pretty happy with it and like it a lot more than what I was taking before."

"I have been on this pill for 3 years now. It's the only one I have been on, but I have never had bad side effects. My periods last about 4 days: 2 days of heavy bleeding and 2 days of spotting. No pregnancy yet, so it is definitely doing its job."

"I used Chateal for almost 3 years. Worked really well for me until recently when I had spotting for like 7 weeks. Then I switched to Tarina. Still would recommend Chateal, it worked great for me for so long."

"I’ve been on Chateal for 2 years and have had no negative side effects whatsoever, however, the strange thing is it has been the only birth control (and I tried about six) that hasn’t made me horribly nauseous. The only side effect I have experienced is not weight gain, but specifically temporary breast enlargement while on the pill. When I got off it temporarily, it went back to normal. My doctor said that it was indeed a side effect of the birth control convincing my body that I was already pregnant. Aside from that, I have had no side effects whatsoever. I know everyone’s body is different, but if there are any girls out there who have been made nauseous with every other brand, then try Chateal, this may help you like it had helped me! I refuse to go use any other kind of birth control now."

"I’ve been on Chateal for 3 plus years, and so far I’ve been happy with it. It sucks for those who had the really bad side effects with Chateal. I mean we all have different body types, and we’re gonna experience it differently. So far, from what I experienced were the constant headaches I get before I get my period and the cramping. I’ve never had cramps before I started using birth control, but I can live with the minor problems. I had regular periods that last up to 4-7 days, never had irregular spotting/periods or tenderness on my breasts, and my emotions weren’t affected. Besides that, it’s been so effective for me, and it has been doing its job, so I’m going to continue with Chateal.(:"

"I have been on Chateal since Oct 2015, and the only negative thing about it is the extreme weight gain... I am a professional personal trainer, very athletic, eat a very well-balanced diet for my needs, and I've gained about 12 lbs... I am not happy at all. Before Chateal, I was on Ortho 7/7/7, and on that pill, I never gained weight, never had a problem, and I had no need to get off it and go on something else."

"I started taking Chateal about a month and a half ago. The first month was fine, and I thought I found a BC with no side effects. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for the second month. Around my 5th week, I started to get bad headaches and wasn’t sure where it was coming from until I read the reviews. My other side effect was irregular bleeding. My period ended between 4-5 days, and then about 4 days after it ended, I started bleeding again. It wasn’t heavy, and it wasn’t deep red, however, it did have a “scent” that isn’t normal for me or my periods. I’m trying not to stop because, of course, I don’t want to get pregnant, but my side effects are embarrassing and uncomfortable. Seeing now that a lot of women lost their sex drive is really making me want to stop this medication tomorrow. Hopefully, your experience is different."

"I've been on this for almost a year, and I've never had any issue except mild nausea before my period. My periods used to be very heavy and last two weeks, and the PMS would take a serious toll on me. On this, my periods are lighter and last 4-5 days. My PMS is significantly lessened. I still get teary-eyed pretty easily before my period, but now I'm not a raging PMS machine."

"I was on Chateal for about two years until I moved to a different state that didn't carry it. The best thing about it was it cleared my skin completely! I wouldn't even wash my face for days, and I still never got a pimple (I'm definitely prone to acne). However, it did lower my sex drive and make me extremely apathetic. The week before my period, I always got aggravated easily too, which was odd 'cause I'm a very mellow person. No weight gain, though! The first month, it did make me a little emotional, but after that, I really didn't have any emotions (which was the problem). However, I really do miss this medication. Now I constantly have acne, and the pill I'm on now makes me spot. Definitely recommend Chateal, though."

"I was initially prescribed Chateal in August of 2016 and began experiencing intense mood swings after several months’ use. I am a very emotionally stable person normally, so after journaling the effects and doing some research, I decided that this was not normal and stopped taking it. I felt better right away. After starting a new relationship, I started taking Chateal again in October of 2017, hoping that this time it would be different... it wasn’t. About two months in, I began feeling depressed and experiencing deep-in-the-pit-of-my-stomach anxiety. I would go from a happy mood to a depressed mood and back again in the matter of minutes, even waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety. I experienced terrible insomnia, irritability, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. After reading reviews, I am happy to know that I am not as crazy as I feel and that other people have dealt with the same things, so hopefully this review can help someone else!"
